ROFL ROFL ROFL! That seriously made me laugh so hard here in the office! You're funny. :P I have no intentions of having a baby anytime soon. Ask me again in 5 years then maybe we can make a deal. Tyree's going to have to wait really long for a sibling. lol.

:s Naman oh.. I was relishing my McChicken sandwich and upon reading further, I had to drop it! LMAO. That was graphic yet funny! hihi.. Hey, I hope you're recuperating completely from your surgery. I read your blog. You gotta make more babies!!! :P

That's sweet, thanks. When I do get approved, I'll leave a month after the elections. STRESSFUL!

one time we were watching mystery diagnosis on tv and it was about this kid who had this illness of biting his lips and tongue... he bit off his upper lip and tongue so the parents decided to go to the dentist and have all the teeth extracted...and his name was tristan! thats why we changed our baby's name.

dont worry, you can do it. you have potentials thats why hehehehe...

Thank you. :D We weren't expecting it to get approved so quickly either!

Thats so fast! Congrats!

PhilippinesNotice to all K-1 fiancée visa applicants
Thanks a lot! I'll take note of that and inform my fiance so he can mail all the documents to me. Composing such a letter is a brilliant suggestion. Posted Image Thanks! I'll do just that because I have no intention to be of public charge. I'll act on this as early as tomorrow so I won't have too much idle time on my hands until the interview date. Thanks again! You've been incredibly helpful.

Toni

If I were in your shoes, I would submit the following:

> 2007-2009 income tax returns

> 2007-2009 W-2 forms

> 2007-2009 income tax transcripts

> Paycheck stubs from 1-1-10 to the present

> Employer's letter

> Recent bank statement

> Letter outlining education, etc

> Co-sponsor's I-134

If the petitioner's income is flirting with the minimum, or below it, both the petitioner and the beneficiary need to build as strong of a financial case as possible.

The consul officer will likely put more weight on the petitioner's current income, and that's why the petitioner should submit so many paycheck stubs.

There are other factors for both the petitioner and the beneficiary as well, such as the their education, their employment potential, etc. The consul officer wants to ensure that the beneficiary won't become a public charge. That being said, you need to prepare all of your documents like there is no tomorrow. Why don't you also prepare a short letter about both of you, outlining your education, special skills, and that sort of thing. Don't give them a reason to deny you.

Please don't put all of your eggs in one basket by counting on your co-sponsor's I-134. The consul officer may ignore it. Build your financial case accordingly.

Thanks for all the information! My fiance and I were actually going back and forth yesterday about the DS-160 but then he stumbled across this thread and that ended our discussion. lol. I have a question though, does the CO ask for pay stubs and bank payments or will a letter of employment suffice? My fiance landed a job in late December so his tax returns don't meet the guidelines. We have a co-sponsor for back up. (We're hoping that we won't need it but just in case we do, fingers crossed that the CO will consider it.)

Thanks!

PhilippinesDS 160
My interview date is on the 28th as well. The email confirmation is out of date and K-1 is a non immigrant visa so from what I've read, you should still stick with the DS 156k, DS 156 and DS 157. I filled them out yesterday.

I received a letter telling me to bring the DS 156 the DS 156K and the DS 157 now im told the DS 160 has replaced them all, we have our K1 interview on the 28th of this month. can anyone tell me anything about this.

PhilippinesMy wifes interview this Mon at Embassy

The only thing that I could do at this point since it is the weekend there and her appointment is at 7:00am on Monday is to try to call the call center there on Monday. I don't know what time they are open though. I think that my wife is just going to have to go to interview with medical results as they are and see what happens. The call center I would imagine opens at 9:00am and here appointment is at 7:00am.
martinbr

The call center does opens at 9 AM, but seeing as she did get the majority of her medicals done, it shouldnt be a problem, she could explain to them what happened? If not, then she can do the xrays and not go, and you can call on the 29th? i know it doesnt sound like the best plan, but with me, I did a stupid thing and waited the last minute to send my fiance the documents she needs. Her interview date was the same day as your wife's, I tried to call and reschedule but I miss the date (tJune 24th, Manila time), so the lady from the call center had told me that if it doesnt get to her on time (which it wont cuz I sent it on Thur. and will get there Tue. her time), than she can always not go to the embassy on the day. She said it wont be a problem or anything like that and told me to call on the 29th to schedule another interview for a later date, which I'm gonna choose July 1st. Maybe this has helped you in some way, if not, then I'm hoping the very best for you and your wife & step child. God Bless.

Congratulations martinbr! Posted Image

From what I've heard, if the child is suspected to have TB, she'll be asked to submit to a sputum exam. If she tests positive, I believe that she has to go to SLMEC to take her medication for the span of 2 months or so. (I'm not sure about the duration.) That's just to ensure that the medication is taken as scheduled. I'm not 100% sure of the accuracy of the information I'm imparting since this I never went through it. I acquired all this by word of mouth.

I'm hoping for favorable results!

PhilippinesQuestions about college expenses
I worked for a Korean national before my latest job as a Web Researcher and he didn't give me any benefits either but they're easy to scare. If she has been with the company for over a year, I think it's fair for her to ask for a raise. Since she isn't being given any benefits, I surmise that she at least gets the money intended for the SS, Phil Health, etc. If not then I empathize with her even more. What line of work is she in? I know all about employers evading taxes. It all boils down to greed. Rather sad but it's a reality that the employees have to deal with on a day to day basis. Pffft.

I wish you two all the best!
She seems like a strong woman. She'll surmount this hurdle. Posted Image

Toni

The sad reality though is that many employers will find ways around that. (they are good at NOT making the SS payments also)

She has no insurance of any kind through her employer. I did a lot of research on this when I figured out that her boss was not making SS payments and learned a lot. The PI is similar to here in the respect that MANY people do not have insurance through their work. Employers there use loopholes and tricks (just like some here) to avoid paying any more than they have to and the employess suffer for it.

PhilippinesQuestions about college expenses
Aww.. Thanks, DobermanGuy! Posted Image

It won't hurt to get out there and earn an extra buck. I guess your girl just has to stretch the peso for now. She should demand for receipts just so she can take note of their disbursements. I believe that's fair since the money does come from your girl's pocket. She's a kindhearted girl and probably feels that it's her duty to provide all those needs for her family. You have to remind her that no matter how necessary money may be, she can always help them in kind. She can send a trusted friend of hers in Cebu a little money and allocate that for groceries so she can be appeased knowing where it went.

I get how your girl is because I never asked my fiance for money too. We apportioned the visa expenses so everything that I have to pay for while I'm in the Philippines will come from my pocket while the ticket and the green card will be his responsibility. Anything thereafter will be jointly shouldered. Team work. Posted Image

Tell her to be stern about the amount she sends because she has to live a little. After everything she has done for them, she deserves to be worry free and at least have a taste of financial security in exchange for her hard work. Little sissy needs a wake up call!

Btw, her company should give her medical insurance. In most cases, dental care is included. Posted Image

Toni

Thanks for all the advice here everyone.

My girl sounds like you Toni! She has always been a hard worker and always found ways to earn.

It is just that her heart is a little too big most times and she gets taken advantage of.

One time she had to suffer with a toothache for a couple of weeks because she spent everything on tuition. I found out after she got another check and went to the dentist. She was too proud to ask me for money. :(

None of this would be a problem if the sister would get a small job like you suggest or cut back on the classes some. At least then, my girl could manage to save just a little for her own personal expenses.

JORDANTONI09MalePhilippines2010-06-27 00:56:00
PhilippinesQuestions about college expenses
I'm sorry to hear about your dilemma but I admire your honey for sending her sister to school. Some families practice this to help ease the parents' expenses especially when they're headed towards retirement. My mom always shouldered our expenses and there are five of us so I'm grateful for that. I believe that you can pay the tuition in either in full, quarterly or monthly. My mom opted for quarterly payments in case one of her children decide to drop out of school. Posted Image At that time, she was sending 3 girls to universities and the 2 younger ones to high school so it was easier that way. Now, I have two siblings currently studying. One taking up Interior Design and the other studying Culinary Arts.

Why not advise the family to minimize their expenses? I don't see the point of them asking for more money when your honey is still earning the same amount every time they ask her for it. If the little sister isn't willing to take part-time work at the moment, why not try a summer job at a call center? I had a friend who did that and she was able to pay for her first quarterly tuition the for the following year. I understand that there are tuition fee hikes but it's like they implement it every month. lol. Maybe it's about time that your honey should put her foot down. Why not give the little sister an ultimatum? I wanted more money without leeching on my mom so on a whim, I went to Marikina and saw the opportunity to sell Rattan slippers. I also contacted a friend of mine whose aunt supplied imported perfume to malls. I had a capital of Php500 for the slippers and made 5,000 a month on orders. My perfume business made double of that depending on the influx of orders. I used that money for "gimmicks", miscellaneous school expenses and of course, put the rest in my savings account.

She should give them a fixed amount to budget monthly. Money doesn't grow on trees and even if your honey does it out of the goodness of her heart, they should consider that it all comes from the sweat of her brow. Think of a sustainable sideline business that they can earn from monthly so they can be preoccupied with that.

Good luck and I hope things will pan out!

I agree with Tahoma. I recently had my interview and K1 beneficiaries aren't required to fill up the DS 160. Don't forget to paste your photos on the forms to avoid delays.

You guys are K-1ers and are going to interview at the U.S. Embassy in Manila, so you should not submit a DS-160. Instead, you will need two copies of the DS-156, one copy of the DS-156K, and two copies of the DS-157.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI134 question
The consuls can be forgiving when it comes to special cases like yours. Those who are still in college or fresh graduates are given the chance to use co-sponsors but it's advisable to get someone from your immediate family. I'm not quite sure about the regulations in Moscow but I think that as long as your co-sponsor earns enough to support himself/herself plus you and your beneficiary then your case is fine. I recently had my interview and I met someone there whose petitioner is still in college and used a co-sponsor (father). He passed the interview.

Good luck to you! I wish you the best!

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionmanila interview question
Sorry if I took so long to respond. I've been tumbling around since I got my visa. Posted Image Yes, your fiancée is required to take the CFO seminar. She can attend the one in Manila at PRISM along Taft Avenue or St.Mary's if she lives in the vicinity of those places. If she's from Cebu, she can get the seminar there. She will receive the complete address and detailed instructions once she receives her visa packet. They will make her and a few others watch documentaries about spousal abuse and educate them about what to expect at the airport and the States. Tell her to take note of your mother's maiden name because she'll need it for the certificate.

Maybe this will be of help. http://kookyheteromo...c.blogspot.com/

[/color]

Hi everyone! First of all god luck to you on the interview, I am sure you will be approved but it cant hurt to bring as much evidence as possible. Better to have too much than be missing something! I highlighted what you said at the end of this because I told my fiancee something about a seminar she needed and a stamp or sticker that would be put on her passport so she can leave the country. Is the CFO Seminar what I read about and if so what exactly is it?

Thanks

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionmanila interview question
You need to give her your '09 Income Tax Return because the CO will ask for it. If she doesn't have it and the CO requests to see it, she'll be asked to return and go through what I did.

Basic ones, really.

What is your name?
When is your birthday?
What is your petitioner's name?
When is his birthday?
What's his job?
Does he speak Tagalog? (He saw a chat log where Jordan called me a loca loca)

It took about 3 minutes or so. The CO will tell you whether or not you're approved at the end of the interview. She'll basically have to go back to her seat and wait again. If she lives in Manila, it usually takes 3 days but due to backlogs, the guys who passed the interview on the same date as mine received their visas 8 days after the approval. It varies. I'm hoping to get mine this week so I can leave mid-August.

Remind her to take the CFO seminar before she leaves.

I sent her my last years w-2's and also a few of my recent check stubs, I think she will be ok. What kind of questions did they ask you and do they tell you if you are approved when your there, because we wanted to book the flight for first week of august that I thought would be enough time for her to receive the visa in the mail.

One year of Income Tax Return and one year of W2's. I brought two years just in case because it's better to be safe than sorry. Some consuls ask for pay stubs while others don't. It varies. Don't you have a current one? I don't think that will matter much as long as you can provide recent pay stubs to prove that you're still employed. Posted Image If you can ask for another employment letter then that would be great.

sounds good but what is 2 years of ITRs? and my lawyer only did one year of w-2's and does it matter that my banks statements and letter of employment are from november of last year when I first filed it?
