I'm 23 so I brought my parental advise letter with me but they never asked for it. I know someone my age who was asked for a notarized parental consent letter. Silly how the requirements vary from person to person. Such institutions should have a solid list of requirements that applies to everyone and not the erratic "I need this, I need that, maybe this too for you."

Congratulations, Puppy eyes! Posted Image

Philippinestourist visa
A similar thing happened to my mom! When she first applied for a tourist visa, she was denied and suspected of embezzling money from an offshore account her personal Dollar account! Posted Image The lady consul also assumed that my mom was going to the States to look for a boyfriend since she's a widow. LMAO. The second time she went there, the only thing the consul asked her was, "What do you plan to do in the States?". She told him that she wanted to gamble in Vegas then he approved her. My mom's only 48 so she didn't get the supposed leverage that senior citizens have. lol.

Did your wife's uncle ever apply for a visa again?

I don't know if there is a hard & fast amount, I've heard it was 500,000 Php (or around $10,000) but my wife's uncle applied a few years ago to attend a convention (he's in one of those Shriners or something groups) and they said that he deposited too much money in the last 6 months to get above that amount so they denied him. He's the head of the local Rice Growers Co-OP and an established businessman too. Of course this is a 3rd hand account to value it at that.

Being a Senior Citizen helps too, or so I've heard.

It also helps to have an itinerary. That's what my mom did. The consul didn't even ask for her papers. Provide the consul with assets like deeds of property, stock certificates, bonds, etc. A Dollar account might help. Posted Image

Yes, you have to include that in the package. You can keep it simple and just state that you're legally able and willing to marry your fiancée and do so within 90 days of her arrival in the States. Address it to the USCIS.

To MJ&S, Just to clarify, it wasn't NinJones who advocated lying about drug use. It was another VJ user whose post has been deleted in the SLMEC Walkthrough thread by NinJones.

I quoted the comment of anonymousperson from the SLMEC Walkthrough thread which was removed by one of the administrators. Anyway, thetallcoolone is right, you should consult an immigration lawyer regarding your situation. If you don't feel that you need one yet and seek finality on your case then send the Embassy an email and call them weekly to see what happens. They have to respond to you sooner or later.

Since the consul sent you to the fraud unit and didn't outright deny you then your case is under investigation. I assume that the Embassy is holding your passport until they come to a decision on your case. Just follow up on it and tell us how it goes. I hope everything works out for you.

[i]From what I have seen and read over the years.

If you admit to drug use during your interview or medical in Philippines your Visa will be denied.

I know that...... but everything is in the hands of the CO. There were girls that i have same situation as mine and they got approved after couple of months. My question is why would the CO keep my passport if i am denied already.

Posted Image It has been more than two weeks so call them again and again and again. I read a post in another forum on VJ. I think it was the Consular Discussion area. After admitting to drug use, she had to sign a waiver then after 2 years, she called to the Embassy and she was granted a visa. She didn't have to pay for the $500+ fee anymore. Talk to that girl you just mentioned since your case similar to hers anyway.

Call the Non-Immigrant Visa section. Dial 3012000 - wait for the voice prompt - press 7 - dial 5184 or 5185 immediately followed by #. Call to check the status of your case. The reason why your passport was returned was because of the information you disclosed. Applicants who receive a white form get their passports back after the interview due to a lot of things. I got one because I lacked a certain document. Yours is a different case.

Did you read the pinned thread by NinJones? The last person who posted there shared her thoughts about divulging past drug encounters at SLMEC. I know someone who was sent to the Fraud Prevention Unit (it wasn't drug related) and she was approved after two months. Your case is under investigation so call the Embassy and ask about the status.

They did not gave my passport back after the interview, consular keep my passport. My fiance called USEm last week but the girl on the line said there is no status on my case.So she wrote a report forwarded to consular section saying that the petetioner called bla bla bla. She said to call back after 2 weeks if we hear back from the embassy still.I heard one girl had an issue same as mine and she got approved i just dont know the exact stories coz she did not detailed it. I am hoping they let will let me know soon if they would deny me so we could plan the nxt step like apply for a waiver if am qualified.:)

have you tried to call the embassy and find out why they still have it? Did you pay the Air21 fee when you went to the embassy for the interview?

No i did not pay the Air21.

I don't have a clear idea of what the requirements are but I'm glad my mom got it! That way, my family can be present at my wedding.

By the way, I enjoyed your travel blog. Posted Image

Thanks for the clarification. Also, that's an interesting observation about the tourist visas. I'm glad some people are getting them. The Embassy should not be so strict with tourist visas.

Yes, the letter specifically states to submit documents between 1-2 pm from Monday to Thursday only. They began entertaining people at 1pm sharp so those who came early like me, were accommodated faster. The documents are still received by the same windows though. I was expecting majority of those with blue slips to be fiancées too but a lot were tourist visa applicants.

Hi Toni...I seem to remember that Chinook dropped off our papers at the Embassy between 12-1 pm. Have they changed the drop off hours to 1-2 pm?

Those under the K-1 Visa category are not required to fill up a DS 160. It is a non-immigrant visa.

Fill up one DS 156K, two DS 157 and two DS 156.

I got a blue slip as well and I personally went there since shipping takes 1-2 days for the Manila area. I didn't want to extend the grueling waiting period. Tell Ivy to drop off the NBI clearance at the Embassy and call 1-2 times a week to check on her case status. The visa will be issued once the consul verifies the document. Also, call the Non-Immigrant section at: 3012000 press 7 after the voice prompt then 5184 or 5185 plus #. Don't book a flight until she has her visa in hand. She can drop off the new NBI Clearance from Monday-Thursday between 1-2pm. I suggest for her to be tat the Embassy by 12pm since there are surprisingly a lot of people who get blue slips. It only took me an hour.

PhilippinesPRISM & CFO Question
I can't even begin to fathom the frustration you both are feeling. This is such a hassle. I'm glad to know that the Embassy provided you with a date so you can eyeball the processing time from there. The CENOMAR takes a while to issue. I remember that mine took six days before it was finally dispatched. Monday or Tuesday sounds just about right so I hope she gets approved by next week!

All of this is due to the CENOMAR, then. Once they receive a copy of the document, the rest will go smoothly. It was quick thinking on your part to reach your local senator's office because that obviously helped. I wish you both the best so you can finally get this part of the journey over and done with. It's best to have her do the seminar and go the CFO office after so that's a good call on your part. I understand what you're feeling and I do hope that she gets approved in time!

You're most welcome! Your previous post came to mind and there aren't a lot of us who got blue slips so I figured to see how you guys are coping. Thank you so much and hang in there!

Toni

She picked up her NBI clearance Thur 7/29 and dropped it off at the Embassy...the CENOMAR was done at Passay and wasn't ready for Friday's Embassy pickup. She called Monday a.m. and found out she can't pick it up...only the Embassy can...however they did tell her that it should be done late on Monday or Tuesday. She is going to call again late today to be sure it is done.

However, I did contact my local senator's office and she sent an email last Friday and called today and what they emailed her back with was that the petition was ready to have VISA issued or denied and that there was a notation that the document was received on Thursday. We talked about the CENOMAR and I called the Embassy a little while ago and they said they are still waiting for the CENOMAR and that she should drop that off at the window between 1 and 2 p.m. Monday thru Thursday. I will be calling the senator's office again tomorrow to see if she can find out anything more about the CENOMAR drop off on Friday.

We are trying really hard to keep right on top of everything...and I think we will revert back to original plan to have her go to PRISM/CFO the following day after she receives her VISA/Passport. See no reason why the VISA will not be approved but sure tired of waiting! Not that she isn't worth it but I would sure like to have her here. Also am getting nervous because this petition expires on August 20.

Thanks for asking how this process is going. Appreciate it. By the way congrats on this part of your journey now complete.
Justin

PhilippinesPRISM & CFO Question
I agree with scotty's girl. I also suggest that you tell your fiancée to wait until she gets her visa. When she receives her visa packet, there will be a CFO guide in the Air21 plastic. That way, she'll get to accomplish the seminar and have the sticker affixed to her passport all in one day.

The seminar starts at 10:00 am and the next schedule is at 1:00 pm. (PRISM)
Once she has her visa, tell her to bring the ff:
-photocopy of passport
-photocopy of visa
-Php 250 payment for the seminar

She might be asked to apply for a BDO Kabayan Savings account. She can decline. If she decides to apply for it, tell her to bring the ff:
-1x1 or 2x2 I.D.
-photocopy of a valid I.D.
-Php 50

For the sticker and Guidance and Counseling Certificate at CFO:
-Valid ID
-photocopy of passport
-photocopy of visa
-photocopy of Guidance and Counseling Certificate of Attendance (from PRISM or SMEF-COW)

By the way, how is the case going? Has she contacted the Embassy?

Hi there.

The resources here on VJ are very excellent guides to help you prepare your own application. You may want to follow the links to the VJ Guides on K1 Visas.

They were very helpful to us when we were preparing our K3 and K4 applications.

When you're filling out the forms, just put in consistent information. If data doesn't fit in the form, prepare an extra sheet referencing the form it corresponds with, the question number and the page number.

As for the supporting documents, keep it simple...you don't need a whole whack of pictures, e-mails, text transcripts or chat transcripts...use them sparingly. smile.gif

When in doubt...ask the questions here.

Hope it helps.

It does help a lot, thank you. The main thing is to assemble the whole package. Should I just use a manila folder with ACCO fasteners, or 2 punch holes, should I use tabs? and lastly, do I really need to label the envelope that i'm sending the petition in? Thanks.

Hey all VJers...I just have a question about sending the I-129F

I know this question must be common and it has been seen a lot, but I just wanna know if there is a simple, yet professional way to send the petition in. I'm getting everything in order and I'm just waiting for my fiance to send me her letter of intent, but I just want it to be easy and simple so the USCIS wont have so much trouble going through it all. A lot of people send in massive petitions all packed and they say that some come out not so much comprehensive, so I want to avoid that. I went fairly well prepared. We use windows live for web chat/video and I took a Magic Jack with me on the advise of others here on VJ...thing is a godsend!! It works really well, provided her internet and power do..LOL Before I left, I bought a cheap phone and a Smart Buddy sim, then activated it to roam. She sends me texts on that phone @ P1 each to her and I can answer her on my AT&T plan for .10 each so it's fairly cheap. I also have BiteSMS on my Iphone for the times that WiFi is available and it's .05 per text with that.

I haven't filed yet, but plan to file an I-130 very soon. She's gathering the documents that I wasn't able to get before I left and should be able to send those to me this coming week. Once I receive those, I plan to file shortly after. I'm still really torn though. We'll just have to see what the next few weeks brings, but there's a strong possibility that I may just go there and expand her little business. Time will tell how the chips will fall. I know I REALLY miss her and I miss the Phils so who knows!!

Looks like you've been spending a fair amount of time on this site, eh? Jordan is the one who's mostly online and I only got access of the password this afternoon since I spotted a thread I wanted to respond to. Some people are blatantly rude on here. Anyway... Yes you're right, I shouldn't be nervous but I can't help myself {hehe}
Thank you so much for such an uplifting message, made me feel better.

Haha.. I should be the one to talk, eh?
Jordan and I haven't even begun and I'm already Ms.Neurotic but you just have to psych yourself into thinking that everything will go smoothly. The nerves will kick in since that's inevitable but hey, we're all going to be in this together. You're welcome and keep us all posted on your journey!

hehe, thank you..thank you
i will keep you posted on my journey at the USEM..
once again, good luck and best wishes to both of you.

Awwwh thanks for your well wishes!
The same goes for you.

Hahaha.. Well, "Cory magic" seems to be raging like fire but just because your parents made a mark in history doesn't mean you'll have the same impact on the people. With that being said, I feel like this "magic" will abate in the months to come. I was just curious since I manage one of the Presidential candidates' website and pages. I'm not saying that I'll be voting for him but from what I see from my own eyes, he's formidable. The Philippines is in dire need of a leader with a back bone. Please just not Erap.

i am wondering which presidential candidate u are referring to, villar or teodoro? smile.gif if you're not in liberty to say it's ok smile.gif i am simply curious.

There are two more typhoons headed towards the Philippines by Wednesday or Thursday... sad.gif

PAGASA forecast

i know huh sad.gif

I can't divulge such information at the moment since he's a client of ours but once I leave my job, I can discuss it. smile.gif

My best friend's house in Merville, Paranaque was flooded but fortunately, her house has two levels so they were able to stay dry.
I watched the news last night and "Ondoy" left 80% of Manila under water. Are you still in the Philippines?
