IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresSibling with police problems affect our I 130?

This last weekend my husbands sibling was arrested on a serious charge involving theft. Can this affect the background check for my husband with the I 130 process?

was your husband involved in any of this? was your husband fingerprinted? was he arrested? if he wasnt there should not be any issues. he can't get criminal records by proxy unless he were actually involved.

Philippinesk-1 visa forms
Allow me to correct my previous post! It's 4am. lol.

REQUIREMENTS FOR SLMEC
-3pcs 2x2 pictures (white background)
-email confirmation letter (remember the manila case no.) OR appointment letter from the Embassy (If you decide to bring the latter, have it photocopied.)
-passport
-ballpen (Don't use a sign pen.)

Remember your fiance's information cuz you need to write that down in a form.

I was just suggesting that you arrange your DS forms into two sets for the interview. The only thing you need for the medical are the appointment letter (from the Embassy) or the email confirmation (which I brought), passport and 3pcs 2X2 pictures (white background). If you decide to bring the email confirmation, keep your manila case number in mind because they'll need it. Ignore the vendors outside. Posted Image The guard will hand you a form to fill up. There's a part there that says, "Do not write below this line" but ironically, you have to fill in the details. Don't worry, they'll put check marks on the ones you have to fill up. Posted Image Read the post by Ninjones. I believe that it's pinned in the forum and I used it as reference. Posted Image

@J AND O I brought my DS 156, DS 157 and email confirmation to BDO. I told her that I was there to pay for the K-1 visa fee so I presented the papers and she glanced at them. I believe they do that to ensure that I'm paying for the right kind of visa.

The only forms she needs for the interview are:
1 DS 165K, 2 DS 156, 2 DS 157

Please tell her to paste her photo on the DS 156 because incomplete papers can be such a hassle during the day of the interview. I saw a lot of girls scrambling to fill up several forms since they opted for the DS 160 in stead.

Pay in Pesos! I made a mistake of paying in Dollars so I had to add more money. Posted Image

Good luck!

Toni

@CATHYlovesRICK You're fine. They don't stamp anything on the forms anyway. The lady just glanced at them. The important thing is that you have the blue receipt from BDO. You're going to submit that along with the DS forms at the Embassy.

Good luck!

hi toni! thanks for the info... however i'm confused... do u mean i'd have to bring those forms in SLMCEC?
i thought i'll be bringing those forms: DS156K (1 completed copy), DS156 (2 completed copies) and DS157 (2 completed copies) to the embassy. so if i bring those to the SLMCEC... this would mean that I'd have to bring another set of copies when i go to the USEM. is that correct? coz i wanted to know what i need to bring to SLMCEC first. coz as much as possible i don't want to bring the other important documents that are not necessary... so that there won't be any risk of me losing any of it. can you clarify this please? thanks toni! :)

Once the K1 applicants are called to line up, the guard will ask for one valid ID and the email confirmation.

Don't bother filling up the DS 160. Please paste your photo on the DS 156. A lot of K1 applicants were scrambling to fill up the DS 156, 156K and the DS 157 so even if they were the first ones there, I along with other people began the process before they did.

Prepare your DS forms and divide them into two sets. (Use a paper clip!)
-DS 156K, DS 157, DS 156
-DS 157 DS 156

You have to present the email confirmation as well. You will be given a number afterwards.

GOOD LUCK!

Toni

thanks thanks... :)

Hi there! I paid for my visa fee on June 23 in BF Homes, Paranaque. The lady only asked me for the appointment confirmation, DS 157 and DS 156 which she glanced at. I wasn't asked for additional papers and she told me that the DS 160 wasn't necessary. Was the DS 160 form taken from you at the embassy or did you just show it at the gate?

Thanks!
Toni

Dear Honeybear, when I went to BDO to pay for my K1 visa fee, they asked for a DS-160. When I went for my interview on June 21, 2010 - I showed the same DS-160 form, together with my appointment confirmation at the gate.
When I was inside the Immigration Section, I was informed I need to submit 2 copies of DS-156, a copy of DS-156K, and 2 copies of DS-157. If you can't find it online via US embassy website, try to Google for it. You need a draft to work on prior to your interview. You can secure a copy of the above mentioned forms at the Embassy, but mind you, it would be stressful. Nakaka conscious pa!

She doesn't need to fill up the passport information just yet. It's okay to leave it blank for now. I actually went to my interview and left the "date of issuance" and "expiration date" of my passport blank since I filled up my forms after the medical and it wasn't a problem since the Embassy had my passport anyway. I didn't go through any delays that day due to the missing passport information. Everything else, she has to fill up.

Some people go there with just the interview appointment letter or the email confirmation. They won't stamp anything on her papers anyway. I brought my DS 156, DS 157 and the email confirmation just in case. The lady just scanned through the email confirmation and returned them to me as quickly as I handed them over. Posted Image

Toni

Does BDO always require DS156 and DS157 or will just the confirmation letter from the US Embassy be enough to deposit the money into the bank. Olive's renewed passport will not be released until 7/16 and the interview appointment is 7/23. I would like to be able to have the money in the account next week but she cannot print out these documents until the passport is released.
I know there will still be time to get the money in but we would like to at least be ahead of the game with this since now everything is going on track.
Thanks

PhilippinesJust a little funny question=)
I wore a 3/4 sleeve top and a skirt for the first day and a dress for the second. Bring a jacket if you're the type who gets chills easily. You're going to undergo a physical exam so wear something that's easy to remove. Bring a book like I did because it'll be a long wait. My medical took 8 hours - 95% was squandered waiting for my name to be called.

So "sent them" implies you didn't have them at the interview, right?

Just wondering ...hehehe it can be a nervous time thinking about these things before the interview but info coming from those people like yourself can be real helpful....thanks for the info

Oh no, no. I meant sending them as in I sent them to her to give to the people at the embassy lol. She had my tax returns, W2's, and the employment letter. I even had a co-sponsor and the CO was actually considering accepting it, the only problem was that the co-sponsor was collecting unemployment for a long period of time, so that just sucked major! lol. The only thing she didnt have from me at the interview was paystubs, and thats what got her the blue slip.

Hey, I understand about being very nervous, wait until the day of the interview, then the nerves really do come out more than ever lol. Youre welcome, glad to help out and ease those rising nerves. Good Luck on the journey.

so.......................................

what happened ? did you take it today ?

Yeah, she took it in today, apparently there was a looooot of people who recently got blue slips, I know she felt better after that lol. So, she took the paycheck copies (yes, paychecks, not necessarily pay stubs, but it should be good), at first the pre-screener there gave a funny face, and I guess it's cuz the paychecks are weekly and not bi-weekly, so she had to put on one of the copies my name and saying its a weekly paycheck. Then the lady just staple the 4 copied paychecks together with the blue and white slips, then put it in file, and told her that either the Embassy or Air21 will give her a text or email saying if her visa is accepted and that air21 received the packet from the embassy and its on its way to her house, and told her that she has to pay cash on delivery. So, all in all, I dont think it went bad at all, at least they accepted it, right? Now we play the waiting game.

@happyndinlove Thank you! It really makes me feel better knowing how optimistic you guys are about this. I was so disappointed yesterday that I was numb. It all didn't sink in till I got home. Yeah, I fully understand why the CO was emphatic about the pay stubs. Jordan and I will remedy the situation on Monday. The prescreener really grilled you? At least you walked out of there with flying colors, right? Posted Image I went to window 15 and the prescreener was nice to me and barely asked me any questions. She and I were having a little "chikahan" in stead. lol. Jordan earns enough though we got a co-sponsor just in case. The CO looked at my cosponsor and saw that she earned 70,000 a year but had previous history of unemployment so that was when he asked me for Jordan's pay stubs. He was really nice and looked at me in the eye rather than staring into the dark hole a.k.a the malevolent monitor. lol. Thanks for sharing. Posted Image
@Tahoma Thank you! See, I really like how people on VJ can uplift people's spirits. I looked like a walking zombie yesterday. I filled up the blue form as soon as I got home and Jordan's going to email the pay stubs to me so I can arrange the papers for Monday. I wish to have the same fate as your wife did. Her persistence was obviously very effective! Posted Image Hmm.. I don't think they do interviews on Friday. The man at the window told me to go between Monday to Thursday from 1-2pm and reminded me not to go on a Friday. Your wife probably made such a mark that they had to write it down on paper. lol. AWESOME.
@Tin Thank you! I thought I had to go through another one. PHEW! The CO was laid back and his eyes were so tantalizing that I had an answer to everything and I felt like I was just talking to a friend so I kept rambling even if he wasn't asking me anything. Posted Image There was a mosquito in the interview room so he asked me, "Is that a mosquito?" I said yes but then I swatted it away and added, "It doesn't matter, it's gone now." He replied, "It's okay. It's on your side, not mine." lol. It was funny and surprising at the same time that I couldn't help but go, "uk!" Posted Image Did you go on a Monday too? I was just wondering because I intend to go there on Monday and I don't know if I should make the driver wait or if I should just send him to fetch my sister from school. Well, Toni went in for the interview today. She had everything with her, except for pay stubs, she made everybody, even the pre screener laugh, but the pay stubs is what prevented her from getting the PINK, instead she got the BLUE. I really didnt think it would matter with not sending any, but to the CO I guess it did. He said she couldve gotten the pink today, but she didnt have any. The only big upside to this thing is, at least she passed the interview and she just needs to bring them in, but still, it does put a big damper on a, what couldve been, a very happy day. Thanks to everybody on here who was so nice and kind, all of your advice was very helpful, and to all of our friends, A BIG THANKS. I know it seems like a giving up tone, but its not, it just sucks that this happened. Anyway, I'm just gonna send it and be done with it, and get that visa. Maybe you will still be one of the lucky ones who will get approved fast by the CSC. I sent my package to the CSC in early Feb. and I havent seen any activity at all until one night in April, when I got a text and email from the USCIS at around 10pm. It was close to 2 months after I sent in the petition and it was the USCIS telling me that my petition had been approved. So your petition could be touched one day, and get approved the next in a blink of an eye, so let's hope that there isnt so much volume on the petitions, and that you dont have to wait tooooo long to be with your fiancee again. Actually, It's Toni. Jordan's my fiance. I can't blame you, our names are quite androgyous. lol. Well, I hope my suggestion helped. My papers were arranged so well that I was entertained before the ones who came before me. lol.

I like that set up also Jordan. I am in process of still putting things together and have been debating on how to arrange them.

@070809 Thank you! You don't need to bring such an overwhelming amount of evidence. You might want to trim it down. Posted Image That's similar to the expanding folder I used. The file organizer that I purchased only cost me around Php140. That way, you can avoid the hassle of scrambling to look for the required documents or pulling them out one by one. From what I just saw, you're good.

Don't forget the BDO receipt! (blue one) You have to submit that as well.

Good luck, guys!

Toni (beneficiary) lol

Philippinesarranging documents
I used an expanding envelope and it was convenient since there were labels for every flap and all I had to do was pull out the documents. I put my papers in folders just in case but the prescreener returned them since they already supplied a folder for my documents. I also color coded the papers with post its but you don't have to do that. I'm just obsessive compulsive that way. lol. Just hand in your papers.

I sorted the documents into 4 divisions.

DS Forms (You'll submit this at the cubicle right next to the entrance of the non immigrant section)
*I sorted them into 2 sets and used paper clips to bind them.
DS 156K
DS 157
DS 156

DS 157
DS 156
+ email appointment confirmation

Certificates (You'll submit these papers to the prescreener)
NBI Clearance
Birth Certificate
CENOMAR

Proof of Existing Relationship (You'll submit these papers to the prescreener)
chat logs
Skype call logs
emails
snail mails
Jordan's AT&T phone logs
photos
+++Fiance's Letter of Intent (place this on the top)

Evidence of Support (You'll submit these papers to the prescreener)
I-134
Letter of Employmen
2 years of W2's
2 years of ITRs
pay stubs
*Bring pay stubs cuz I made a huge mistake of not bringing any and it obviously cost me.

Good luck! Posted Image
