Yes, Im sorry too! I dont think it would hurt to email the embassy weekly and call maybe 2 times a week. You will probably get a different person each time so maybe someone will have some idea of what to do since you already had an interview scheduled.

Ah another thing I thought about was when Adam first started driving here. Gosh, I was going insane. I wasnt going to be his teacher thats for sure. Got some fellas to help out with that. I vividly remember one time we were going to make a right hand turn at the light and Wendys restaurant was on the right side. I said turn here and instead of turning exactly at the light, he turned right and went right through Wendy's concrete edge and grass/bushes. What an adventure that experience was!

Sorry :( (And it's jam. I haven't made any jellies this year. Jam still has the fruit in it. I thought the rabbits would add some nice fuzzy feelings to the thread. Rabbits are so incredibly cute!)
I suck.

And I suppose really good to eat!???

Yes, Julianna did it again  That thread wrecker !!!

I will forever be mad with her bcz of it. Silly rabbits and fattening jams!

Well Saturday after the girly party for the neices, my sister came over to the house to help out with the hot mess of the flower bed that Im trying to remove and redo. We came across a brown snake and called for Adam to come out to see it and attempt to kill it. He holds the shovel upside down (like hes going to scoop it up!) then says hes too scared. My sister kills it while hes standing in awe. We found a pretty good size frog sitting around there, dont know how it survived since we was using a lawnmower, a rake, shovel and hoe. A couple of lizards were running around and a cute white speckled gecko. Interesting what you find in your front yard! I forgot to take pictures of the piece of art work of a hot mess flower bed we are destroying to rebuild but since its only partially done I will take pictures next time I go out. It will be the before and then hopefully before summer is over, -after piece of work! The ants are a whole nother subject! Those things just wont go away!

Middle East and North AfricaSending Money
Money gram is cheaper than Western Union. Walmart has Moneygram inside at the service desk. You can send money to many countries.

I've only used western union one time and there was a huge problem. It was like $100 being sent I think it was for his moms bday or something but I sent it to Adam. Well his name is sooooo common all 4 actually that someone else has the same or similar name and is not allowed to receive money through western union. My transaction of $100 was blocked at first and had to verify alot of stuff before they unblocked it and let him pick it up. Stuck with Moneygram after that and never had a problem.

Thank you Ladies! I interviewed for it today. Its crazy how things work out bcz my brother was actually in the process of transferring to my store on April 9th. I didnt know about it at the time and when I found out I had to let them know bcz I wouldnt be able to work in HR if my brother worked there. Adams warehouse called for my brother 3 days ago and he was offered the same days (Mon-Thurs) as Adam and start out with $15/hr and transfer on April 11th. So this news of him not coming to my store now made me eligible to apply for this position. The interview was smooth, but now I know how many others feel when they have to sit in that "hot seat" of questions that I usually have to give. Im sure I'll be finding out soon and from the way its been said they all wanted me to take this position bcz Im all about business with Walmart, hard on policy, what one dont know I'll always find out and Im a people person.... just nervous about changing what I've been doing for 11yrs... but its in my same store, with the same co workers, just in the back and not running around the front.

I might have an opportunity to be our HR assistant at work. Im tossing and turning in my mind about it bcz I hate change but its so tempting and its completely different than what I've spent 11 yrs of Walmart doing (which is all up front and management) It would be every Sat 8-5, every Sunday off which I would love, and I pick my other day off, then 2 days 8-5 and 2 days 12-9. Same pay, same level but a completely different thing and a new change within work. Anyone worked HR before??? Adam thinks I'd be crazy if I dont take it, but Im so having a hard time in my mind.

Middle East and North AfricaMonthly Thread for March 2011
Happy Friday, I cant believe I survived this week! Adam and I both have Friday, Saturday and Sunday off from our jobs. My 3 day weekend finally came! I have plans to take one day and work in the yard if there will be good weather. I'm sure Adams plans involve going to malls and restaurants. I'm thinking we are going to try a new Italian restaurant called Zammitti's

Heres their story which is derived from Egypt :) http://zammittis.com/about/

Pasquale Zammitti, from Acicastello, Sicily, was a merchant seaman aboard a ship that exploded in the Suez Canal. He was fortunate to be placed with the Ambrosanos, an Italian family living in Cairo, Egypt. Pasquale fell in love with their daughter Adriana. They were married in Cairo in 1921.

Pasquale and Adriana had three daughters, Graziella “Nella”, Teresa and Angela. The Zammitti sisters grew up in Suez, but attended school in Italy. They were fluent in Italian, French, Greek, Arabic and English.

Harry Burns, from Goose Creek, Texas, was a young soldier in the US Army’s Counter Intelligence Corps. In 1943, he was stationed in the Middle East, where he met the Zammitti sisters. Smitten with their beauty and warmth, he eventually won the hand of Nella. With Pasquale’s blessing, they were married in Cairo in 1944. After the war, Harry and Nella moved to Houston. Soon after, they were joined by Nella’s sisters and parents.

As with most Italian families, the Zammitti kitchen was the center of social activities, with the good food being the main staple of their gatherings. The family soon became known for its hospitality and flair for entertainment. The Zammitti grandchildren offer you the same old world charm that is the heart of their Italian

Hard to believe that March is already here! Im ready for crawfish season in Texas!!! Whenever that is, there will be a big crawfish boil at our house. Any friends and family in the area or (want to fly or drive out here) are welcome! My family will do the buying and cooking it! I so missed out on crawfish for the 12 yrs I lived in Georgia! Adam absolutely loves the stuff!

Im sooo ready for the weekend. Work is stressful and hectic. My store just had a meeting and said we are around 95 people short handed. Umm yah did they JUST figure this out!? I've been saying this for a long time! We just opened up 95 positions, which I dont know where in the world we will find them all in this little bitty town!

Adam is doing so good at work and hes making great money and a very hard worker. He did have one co worker recently though make an uncalled for comment about him. Someone at work said something he didnt quite understand and when he asked for it to be explained to him, they said, "I dont know why Egyptians come over here if they cant understand what we are talking about." Adams english is clear and fine but obviously there will be a word that he's never come across before.
And at work during the Egyptian protests at the beginning of Feb, I was helping the cashiers get the lines down and a customer was complaining about the price of eggs, bread, milk ect and made the comment..." Did we get our eggs and bread from Egypt?" I said No, but I sure got a husband from there! And I sure am proud of the Egyptian people! She shut up after that.

He's a hard worker, he provides for me and gives me anything I want, he's my lover, we love spending time together doing whatever or nothing at all. :luv: We are 100% certain that GOD kept us for each other and brought us together and can not even think about being with anyone other than him until in death we part. I agree with the above ladies. Even though Im the USC and Adam is Egyptian, I still til now havent changed my last name to his and we never had a problem with any paper work. 4 pm has come and gone in Egypt.

Tweeps who are in contact with Wael's family say that they deny that he has been released.

This is why Egypt needs a complete reboot of their legal system. We need a new constitution, and Law 162 of 1958 aka the Emergency Law needs to go the way of the dodo. A government should not be allowed to hold its citizens without charges, all the while denying that they're actually holding them. And, they should be allowed to indiscriminately kill them either without repercussions.

Yes! Adam and my brother were just talking about this at lunch yesterday. Here you are innocent until proven guilty. Egyptians are guilty even when possibly innocent!

I have mixed feelings though about this. It seems that the military in Tahrir square is being harder on people. On the news and recent pictures from friends you dont really see them shaking hands or participating with the anti gov protesters.

I've heard several of the journalists report that the concern is that the effort is to stop the journalists covering and filming because of the even worse violence that is to come by the pro Mubarak supporters.
From what I saw on cnn, state dept correspondent indicating state dept saying off record the attacks on journalists have been orchestrated, organized, and supoorted by Ministry of Interior.

I saw video of a fire engine doing the same thing.

Yes. But even without the reporting and just looking at the situation it's so obvious. Your average, everyday Egyptian doesn't own a horse or camel nor are they that skilled at riding. The ppl on the horses and camels are most likely police.

I agree, I completely believe its police, or secret police or some sort of people like the police. I cant stand Egypts police! They are hateful, abusive and murderers!

Ok something crazy bad that happened. Adams friend Mohamed that he grew up with was guarding the flat with some other guys and some bad guys came in a car and came to get to the flat and to fight them. He and some of the guys guarding the flat got into it with them, one bad guy got stabbed in the stomach and died and another guy they stabbed in the back and hes just injured and they are keeping the other guy like arrested. Mohamed and his neighbors are trying to reach the army to get them to come over but they cant reach them. This is in Alexandria. Mohamed just told Adam... I've never killed anyone in my life until tonight :(

We're having trouble calling out. AT&T has told us that they've cut calls into MENA. Has anyone else heard this?

I just called Adams sister in Cairo. She is at home with her children and husband. She said they are afraid to go to sleep. The water at her flat isnt out. Some of her neighbors were robbed and some of the bad guys got arrested but there are some still out there. We used our ATT cell phone to call to her cell phone and it worked for us.

Middle East and North AfricaConjoined Gaza Twins
Conjoined Gaza twins arrive in Saudi for surgery

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip – The first known Palestinian conjoined twins were flown to Saudi Arabia on Tuesday for separation surgery, overcoming a particularly Gazan string of obstacles including a blockade, squabbling governments and even holidays.

Egyptian officials authorized a rare opening of the Rafah crossing Tuesday so the 11-day-old girls, their parents and a medical team could enter Egypt. A special Saudi medical plane then whisked them to Saudi Arabia, where Saudi King Abdullah will pay for their operation.

Khaled al-Marghalani of the Saudi Health Ministry confirmed the twins had arrived and been taken to the National Guard Hospital in the capital, Riyadh.

The girls, Rital and Ritaj, were born in the southern Gaza town of Khan Younis on March 27, joined at the chest and sharing a small intestine. Each girl has a heart, lungs and other organs, increasing chances they'll be able to survive separately, said Ayman Abu Amouna, the doctor who oversaw their care in Gaza.

TV footage of the twins in the Gaza hospital showed them sleeping face to face, each in her own diaper, one with an arm around the other's body.

Mohammed al-Kashif of Hamas Health Ministry in Gaza said the birth sparked curiosity and doctors from around Gaza came to see the babies because they had only read about the rare condition in textbooks.

Al-Kashif said the girls were the first conjoined twins on record in the Palestinian territories. Spokesman Omar Nasser for the Palestinian Authority's Health Ministry in the West Bank concurred.

Rival Palestinian governments have ruled the two territories since the Islamic militant Hamas seized Gaza from forces loyal to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in 2007, leaving him in control only of the West Bank. Attempts at reconciliation have failed.

Israel and Egypt imposed a strict blockade Gaza after the Hamas takeover, harming the territory's health services and making it hard for patients to travel for treatment. Israel says it lets sufficient humanitarian products, including medical supplies, into the territory.

Kashif said Gaza's Health Ministry asked the Saudi Embassy in Egypt to facilitate the twins' travel. The Palestinian Authority in the West Bank issued passports for the girls and their father on Saturday but couldn't send them to Gaza, because Israel was observing the last Sabbath of the Passover holiday and offices were closed, Nasser said.

The West Bank and Gaza lie on opposite sides of Israel.

The passports reached Gaza on Sunday, but the family couldn't travel on Monday because of a holiday in Egypt, Nasser said.

Further complications arose because Egypt has minimal contact with the Hamas government in Gaza, preferring to deal with the Palestinian Authority.

On Tuesday, following Saudi intervention, Hamas facilitated the twins' transfer to the border, which Egypt opened especially so they could cross.

They boarded a special medical plane chartered by Saudi King Abdullah Tuesday afternoon. In Saudi Arabia, chief surgeon and Health Minister Abdullah al-Rabia will perform the surgery, paid for by the king, said Ahmad Mohammed al-Sedairi, Saudi ambassador to Egypt.
