Middle East and North AfricaVacation with the hubby
Hey Peeps! Today is the start of my 13 days off for vacation! Adam & I are heading over to Baton Rouge on Friday for the weekend to see my brothers and their family and a guy I grew up with and his wife are having a baby girl tomorrow -naming her the same name as my 4yr old neice in Baton Rouge. We had no idea until we saw them at our house in May and was talking about baby girl names. They had no idea my little neices name was the same exact name and spelling they came up with!
Monday - Thurs Sept1st (Adams bday) we will be in Fort Walton & Destin Florida on the beach! Soooo looking forward to vacation time! White sand and blue/green water is going to be sweet! We are really looking forward to spending time together and relaxing.

For those of you that have facebook and are always on our page, be looking for plenty of vacation pictures!

Take care everyone!

-Tamara & Adam

Middle East and North AfricaQuestion on Islam?
I am not muslim but I do have personal experiences due to some family that is.... I have family that is muslim that has been to church before for various occassions. As well as there are muslims that even visit Joel Osteens church in Houston Tx. Its my own opinion that you and your hubby should do as you both see fit for your family and not worry about people telling you what you should not be doing.

Middle East and North AfricaI'm Confused
Back in Jan 2008, Adam flew from Egypt to France to Atlanta Georgia where I lived. So ATL was his POE. I love ATL airport!

Good! I sooo miss ATL Ga, but our H-town rocks! Go Houston Consulate! Im really glad we dont live very far from there either, just a straight drive into Houston for us. Lucky for my sister too, when she needed her visa to India the Indian Consulate is just right down the road too!

Not sure if its wise to trust in an online thing right now to get your visa. This is something new w/Egypt and if they are saying get it done through the Embassy then thats probably the best way to go for now. Can you pay the post office to over night the passport and also show the embassy your flight itenary of the date you are flying to Egypt and ask that Egyptian Embassy send it back to you asap so you dont miss your flight?

Is it the same for us who are married to Egyptians? I wonder if we still will be paying a fee or not? Like if we bring our marriage cert w/us or hubby to the Embassy?

Middle East and North AfricaQuestion for Jordan Peeps!
Another question he had asked me, is there any way just to have an engagement ceremony over there but in the church but not be officially married? Or whatever he and his fiance do in the church, will make them come out and be married?
~PalmTreeGurl~FemaleEgypt2011-09-18 19:53:00
Middle East and North AfricaQuestion for Jordan Peeps!

I called my friend from Syria (her husband is Jordanian) and they married overseas. and yes, they are Christian (Greek Orthodox to be exact). Anyway, she said that they have to make an appointment with the church and get married in the church. The priest will give them papers to take to the civil registry to register the marriage with the courts.

Thanks girl! I'll pass this message on to Wassim unless he beat me to it by reading it already. I had thought it was going to be like how Adam & I did it in Egypt, but its not.

Hi again MENA peeps! Another question for a friend! If two people are christian, one US citizen and one Jordanian, can they just have a courthouse wedding over in Jordan, or do they have to have a church wedding?

Mine does the same thing on his days off, And_Sam. I mean the staying up most of the night watching TV or playing with the Xbox then coming to bed about an hour before I get up. My biggest thing is the smoking all night and the smell drifting into my bedroom and waking me up. Sucks. I can't breathe and I feel like getting up and cracking him over the head. :dead:

Ooohhhh I know this same feeling! Back in Georgia in our apartment,I have the no smoking in the house rule and when I fell asleep he would be smoking in the living room... Im a light sleeper so I could smell it in my sleep. I would jump out of bed so fast chasing him back outside and his excuse was there was oppossums outside or some lizard. I hate the smell of cigarettes and sure as heck dont need our house smelling like it or the cats having to breathe it in!

Hello MENA Peeps! I've started my 3 days off today. Got my nails done and a 1 hour massage from Massage Envy. The house Adam and I were hoping for didnt go through on the sellers end. They were unwilling to do any repairs, so we offered to do them... then they needed a new roof and were only willing to pay $3000, so I found someone to do that for them... then they cancelled on selling the house. So, now we are either going into an apartment or going to check out another house tomorrow thats a 3 bedroom 1 bath.

Hope all is doing well! Has anyone seen Monica lately? I havent seen her on here or Facebook lately.

Hey MENA Ladies! Glad to see yall doing ok today! We are about to adopt a kitten that was left at a grocery store. Shes grey with tan patches. We are going to have to come up with a good name for her.
Hopefully my other cats Candy & Alex wont be too jealous or mean to her bcz shes so little.

We are still in the process of the house buying. The one we have been working on getting is still being worked on. Waiting to see if the sellers will pay to fix the roof, of if they will pay for it out of their money at closing... If they agree then we are good to go and almost done.

I dont know exactly how true it is as a whole, but for us when we have bought halal meat -usually goat, lamb or chicken, it seems to stay fresh alot longer than regular grocery store meat. Does anyone else find that to be so ?

Painting is harder than I thought! Defintely not going to do anymore than what we already did... its enough and what a chore! Pics will be on facebook for our house. Hopefully our bed will get moved over to the house and Saturday we will have our fridge and stove. Last night at moms house but she's only 1 mile away so I will still be over here alot!
Hope everyone is doing well, cant believe Thanksgiving is less than a week away! We are having around 25 or so family members at my grandparents house on Thursday. Friday for "black friday" I have to be at work at 445am... sooooo not looking forward to that! But... that night we are going to the Jeff Dunham show with a brother of mine I havent seen in 10 yrs and a friend I grew up with and havent seen in about 6 yrs. Its going to be a great week!

Morning Jeanne! I also found out that there's free meals at Chili's & Golden Coral. Hope you have a great day!

We are waiting to hear from the USDA loan for the house, everything else is complete down to the pending receipt of this loan. Closing is supposed to be Friday. Hopefully I hear the news today for the time on Friday. Its exciting and nerve racking at the same time dealing with buying a home.

I haven't heard this either...my fiance wasn't in a serious relationship before me either. Also think everyone needs to calm down a bit...she was just asking if it was true or not.

Monica :)

Well Monica, thats not what the OP wrote in her first post. She wrote that while talking to other fellows that she noticed almost every arab guy who is interested in marrying a foreign woman had a fiancee or Gf who died under tragic circumstances.
I mean, how many guys do you talk to that have that happen to them? I've not heard of one and I worked with Arabs and go to church with Arabs and friends with several that are now married to Americans and Europeans. Thats just strange to me that she heard of oh so many guys in that situation.

I have found out talking with fellows that almost every arab guy who has interest to marry foreign woman had a fiancée or close girlfriend who died under tragical circumstances usually before the wedding. It seems that this is a "nationwide game". I wonder who many of your men came out with such story.

Cipriana, what was the point of your fiance telling you that he had a dead fiance? I'm just curious as to what the point of his story to tell you was? And do you have other arab guy friends that all had that same situation? Strange stuff to me.

This was never a situation for Adam and I. I've never heard of dead fiance stories before from any male or female middle eastern person or friend that I knew. I think someone has been feeding someone a story.

Morning Aya!!! rose.gif

When Adam had his interview he took emails... not alot though, but I dont think the CO even looked at emails. I believe they looked at some pictures of us which had us together and me with his sister and mother ect.

I dont think its necessary to take 100 pages bcz more than likely they arent going to look at but one or two emails if that. So, pick ones that talk about your love, engagment, being with him always ect..
