So, in all fairness to the previous topic that WOM shared the link to, this topic should be closed too. Im not thinking this topic would go in a helpful direction for our MENA group & theres better things to focus on and chat about in here.

Middle East and North AfricaHow many of you saw your significant other online before flying across the country to meet in person?

It was probably copied in an Egyptian movie. Did I ever tell you about the time that Ammar was watching Sound of Music with me and then informed me that this was really an Egyptian movie? I was like ummmm... no... this is a musical based on the biographies of real people. My German teacher in HS went to school with Von Trapp grandkids. Then he realized the Egyptians just copied it and never credited that. Now he doesn't trust anything LOL.

bwahhahaha gooo figure!

reminds me of the other day there was some egyptian music video or something of sorts with a guy singing... but it starts off by playing the tune to the pink panther so i started humming with it.... Adam looked at me like WOW! How did you know this!? lol I was like honey... they stole that from the pink panther movie!

Met Adam online & there was this little tiny picture of him on his profile page. I did ask him for a better one & he sent me 3 where he was with some friends. Got to see him & his mom, dad, grandparents & sister all on webcam a lot before I ever flew out there. Glad I did, it was great to see their smile everytime we got on webcam. He got to meet my mom on webcam even though she didnt live near me, we did a 3 way conference call then set up webcam with me and with her. He met my grandparents for real when they flew out to Egypt for a 3 day stop over before vacationing in Israel. Im happy with how things went for us. Worked for us!

Middle East and North AfricaThis is the day !
Thanks everyone!!! We got there at 11am. His appointment was for 12:30 & the letter said be 30 minutes early. We waited in the car til 12, then went to the door where security was. He had to take off his watch, belt & everything out of his pockets. He went to drop off his letter at the window and we waited from 12:15-12:45 when they called his name.

He said the officer started with swearing him in, then the 6 out of 10 test questions, then went over personal questions. He was asked when was our anniversary, where does he work and live & where he worked in Ga. The officer wanted to keep the originals which was our marriage certificate & birth certificate but Adam told him we needed them back. (I know the interview letter said to bring originals of everything you sent a copy of) so I don't know why the officer acted like he needed the originals but he made another copy of them instead. He asked about the past 3 years in taxes bcz we pay around $300 to the IRS each year and he wanted a copy of those receipts. Adam told him that isn't what the interview letter asked us to bring so we didn't but that I could get them if he needed them, so he said its ok and you are approved & stamped his N400 with the red approval stamp. Then he had Adam sign off on the name change sheet but the officer made a mistake and added his old middle name & Adam told him he doesn't want a middle name so the paper got redone and Adam got to sign it with his new name.

He was told not to wait in the waiting area like others were doing bcz he would get a letter in the mail for his oath ceremony in the city closer to us. Houston is about 40 miles away and so is Beaumont. He said we live near Beaumont so he will have his oath ceremony there.

totally understandable! We have a lot of "middle eastern" restaurants here but Adam says none of them make food like he's used to in Egypt. I still enjoy the food wherever we go. Dimassi's is a popular one we go to in Houston bcz its a buffet & has a huge variety.

Middle East and North AfricaWaiver for meeting...
Many of the women on here have spouses that are muslim. Many of the women took trips to their hubbys home country or even to a different country to meet up and spend time with them. He'd have to meet you to marry you & I think it would be hard or rare for him just to get a waiver to come over here....

At the Embassy before we married we went to get my "free to marry paper" It had a place on there to write both our religions on it.

Middle East and North AfricaHeyyy whats up
So, also curious to know.... I know you told us you are buddhist and I see you've been wearing hijab & scarves a bit lately with pictures posted. Is this something you're trying or just like the style and look? I know of a lady who's an atheist, married to an Egyptian and she did a blog about being muslim for a month where she fasted this ramadan & participated in the whole outwardly things of being muslim. Just curious whats up for you.

Middle East and North AfricaSPOUSE VISA VS FIANCE VISA
welcome to VJ! Well, there is no guaranteed visa so IMO just do what is right for you & him. I married my hubby there, filed for k3 spouse visa and when he came we flew out to my family in Houston & had a church ceremony -worked out perfect and we had both families at some point for our ceremonies.

Middle East and North AfricaHappy Couples ....
Yep! Happily married now for 6yrs this past Sunday :D Hubby has been here for 4 1/2 yrs and is waiting on his oath ceremony letter.

We drive into Houston occasionally to buy the mid eastern groceries like fresh pita bread, fuul, a certain cheese he likes, basterma, lamb or beef sausage, egyptian rice, and other little things they have. He does like refried beans but not the same way as his fuul. He actually made homemade bread last night & we ate boiled eggs, beets and the bread he made. Adam & I do work alot but whenever we are together we spend it going places together- restaurants, mall, movies, or whatever. We always have a great time in whatever we do. If we are home just relaxing, he has his arabic tv through https://www.elafnettv.com// I told him yesterday that one day Im just going to learn awhole bunch of arabic so I can understand what the movies are always laughing or singing about in arabic. It seems like every show he watches they laugh like crazy or they break out in singing mode. I love it!

Since we moved to Texas 3yrs ago we live very close to alot of my family. Most all of my family works alot but when we come together we all have a great time whether we go out shooting pool, playing card & board games at our moms house or going fishing down in galveston. Hubby loves fishing and so does my mom & grandfather. I just like to get a tan :D

I really enjoy my life with my husband and he definitely is a blessing in my life!
