IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCanceling K1 and going CR1 Question..
Karima, Adam interviewed in Egypt which of course is slightly different however. From the time of his interview which was K3 on May 9th 2007, his AP was about 3 1/2 months, then they asked for a Movement Certificate. (Its not even asked for all MENA/Egyptian guys and hes never even travelled out the country) He was never able to obtain one, even though applying for in in Sept 2007 while I was there with him... 4 months later of trying to obtain that paper and waiting and waiting, on January 1st 2008 he got his visa. It was the pits to wait for him and not know when or what if was going to happen, so thats why I made another trip there to spend 2 more weeks with him (and it just so happend to be his bday) I honestly think waiting did us some good too, bcz sometimes he gets on my last nerve! devil.gif

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCanceling K1 and going CR1 Question..
Karima,
I honestly think you should chill and be more patient. Most all of us MENA peeps had to go thru AP/AR and wait for our fiance or spouses. You should take your child and visit Morocco if its taking awhile but definitely not cancel a K1. What happens if you marry and file CR1, and get denied for whatever the reason. And besides that, either way you are going to have a AP... they ARE going to do background checks and whatever else it is that they do for AP. Everything takes time and stopping what you just started is going to take alot longer IMO.
So, to say it again... its my opinion you chill and be patient, and if your still waiting by March, take your child and go visit Morocco and your fiance for alittle while. Every day waiting is a day closer to the end. Its going to be A.L.R.I.G.H.T.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresVaccination in Egypt Question
QUOTE (mystic @ Dec 30 2009, 12:40 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi,
There has been some confusion on what vaccinations my husband should get before having his interview and i am hoping others that have done the process recently in egypt can help with this..
The doctor told him that there are just 2 needed at the time of his exam, MMR and DT . He didnt have them available at the time of exam so had him pay for them and told him he will recieve them when he returns to pick up his results in 10 days. ..
However a friend of mine went through this with her husband in February 09 and she said that her husband was given some in egypt but was required to do more when he arrived and that we should just get them all done in egypt as it is cheaper,, and something about tuberculosis test as well, though her husband tested positive for TB upon arrival but says its because of a vaccination given in the schools there?? Can anyone tell me what vaccinations your spouse was given in Egypt and if there are more that are required upon entry?

As I can remember this is what happened for Adam too. When he came he had to go to a immigration approved doc here and get the TB test, which came back positive and was told it was highly likely due to being vaccinated in the schools in Egypt.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresplease help me! I want to cancel my petition!
Well I understand that.. but It might take months..... I want to close it as faster as I can.

who cares how long it takes? that part has nothing to do with you if you dont want to keep going thru with it... If you are 100% serious you arent going to be with him, then tell him and again ignore the interview, dont accept a plane ticket and dont board the plane. Are you 100% sure?

QUOTE (lonelymoon @ Oct 5 2008, 10:04 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Please! I need a help! My fiancee sent the petition at the beginning of July, and we still didn't get NOA2. But I do not want to marry my fiancee, and do not wish to go to the USA to be with him. I want to close the petition. I know he will not do it, because he hopes to "change my mind". Please, help me to get rid off this situation! I do not want to wait and waste my time! Please help me.

Then dont go to the interview, dont buy a plane ticket and dont board the plane if thats what it takes to not be with him! Easy at that!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPurchasing Ticket @ Cairo Airport
QUOTE (Davina @ Jul 5 2009, 09:47 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
ughhh that's what I was afraid of. There isn't the visa in the passport, and I dont understand why they would send him that envelope and his passport back if the visa wasn't in the passport, unless they made a mistake or something but I don't see how that would happen. I'm afraid now they're going to want him to send it back to the embassy, but hopefully he will just be able to go down there today and sort all this out. Well we're calling in about three hours so hopefully everything goes well =[

You should email the embassy NOW, so maybe they will get it and respond by Tuesday or so. My husband is from Egypt and like others, he had received his VISA in his passport. Thats where Visas are stamped.

Also, he is NOT supposed to open that brown envelope period!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNot sure which is best?
Im 2yrs older than Adam. I had known him 9 months before I went to Alexandria, stayed there 12 days with his grandparents/mom/sister/him and got married on day 8. That was almost 5yrs ago. My grandparents were on vacation and met him for me before I went over there.
After we married, we then filed for the spouse visa which at the time was the k3. Our situation is different, as is most and what works for one may not work for all. I think now days, regardless of which route you decide, its going to be a long one. Just be prepared to wait it all out!

Happy September! We are back home from vacation in Florida. Got my brother, his wife and 2 kids to come here to get away from the Tropical Storm Lee in Louisiana. Tonight, us, them and my other brother are going to the Astros vs Brewers baseball game. Vacation time still isnt over! Pictures of our trip are posted on facebook. We had a wonderful time. Adam fell in love with Destins white sandy beach and green blue water! He was bummed to come back to Texas!

Hope everyone is doing well!

He's going over to your country to marry you there? What are the laws about foreigners marrying in your country? Do they say foreigners just do a civil ceremony at the courthouse?

When I went to Egypt to marry, we had to marry in the "courthouse" so to speak. We did not go to a mosque or a church. We had the church ceremony when he came to the USA.

Middle East and North AfricaQuestion Regarding Marriage and how to adjust
Thanks! She lives in Jordan but just has a tourist visa to the USA that is valid for 5yrs.

So once he goes there to marry her, he comes back and applies for CR1 then they wait it out and she can not come over here while waiting for the cr1.

He just wants to make sure he gets the answers on how to do things the right way. She isnt in the USA now and wont be back in once they marry if thats the right way. I just asked him to join last night to find out how to do things the right way once they marry bcz I dont know all the info since I did k3 back in 2006.

Middle East and North AfricaQuestion Regarding Marriage and how to adjust
Wassim, I think once ya'll marry in Jordan, she has to stay there and can not come over here bcz you will then have to come back here and apply for the CR1 visa for her which is the spouse visa. And I dont think the CR1 would take that long considering ya'lls background and her being a female.

Middle East and North AfricaQuestion Regarding Marriage and how to adjust
Hey Peeps! Question for a friend of mine. I'm sure he'll be along soon to ask more questions. He's going to be getting engaged to a girl over in Jordan then next summer they will be getting married. Right now she has a tourist visa to the USA. After they marry in Jordan what steps does he need to take to change the status and adjust? How do you go from a tourist visa to getting married over in Jordan and going through the process. Any ideas? Thanks!

Middle East and North Africadifferent religions for K! fiance visa?
Marriage in itself it challenging. Add culture & religion is a whole nother challenge. My hubby & I are both Christian w/no children- just constantly working on it ;) My sister is a christian and her hubby is muslim from India/now American citizen. They have 2 daughters - Esther nearly 6 & Anna 2 1/2 yrs old. He goes to the mosque on Fridays, she and the girls go to church on Sundays. They are respectful to each other -and each does their own thing w/regards to what they believe & how they practice it. Im sure anytime religion is discussed its a touchy subject but they do love & respect each other even though they do not believe the same. He participates in the family gatherings for the holidays with her & all of us. He's very much a part of our family. We all love him to pieces! And my sister does cook meals for him & buys dates during ramadan when hes ready to break the fast. He is a wonderful provider for my sister & their daughters, very respectful to my mom & step dad, a wonderful brother in law that will do anything for anyone. My thoughts are this: If you want it to work, then you BOTH have to make it work. And I can clearly see in regards to my sister and her hubby- they do!

Its a disaster & heartbreak waiting to happen. I wont congrats him at all. I honestly hope he really doesnt come over here. I've seen enough relationships where I thought "yah my friends are going to last forever" & they havent- I sure dont think one like this will. Communication & respect is very important in relationships. The red flags are everywhere on this fella.

And btw, did he ever contact you yet about the details of his interview? Like what questions he was asked?

I think the OP has been given really good advice. What she does with it is entirely up to her. I keep coming back to read in hopes that she had her eyes open to what everyone has said. Its sad when people are given really accurate advice & it gets thrown to the wind.

I really hope for the best for you Em, & IMO-that doesnt include him.

IMHO, you should be with a man that not only loves, values, adores, & appreciates YOU... but one that can love, value, adore & appreciate everything YOU DO for others.

Middle East and North AfricaSudden CHANGE!!! What do I do!?
If his interview gets approved (and I really hope for your sake it dont) and he comes to the USA... I am saying now that he will NOT change, life will be like hell & you will wish you went with your gut & cut the cord loose, listened to many of us on VJ thats been here for several years, who have seen MANY fraud or many ruined lives. Even if you gave up SO much for him in clothing style, in not doing this or that like not-(smiling, picking up relatives, hiking), not eating this or that, ... you will be miserable & you will never make a person like him happy. Its not possible. I've never told a person that I didnt know the famous "I told you so" cliche... but remember that if he comes over here. You will be miserable.

Thank you for sharing your story! Im so sorry you went through all of that with a man that was supposed to love you but deceived you & used you. What the heck is wrong with a person to do things like that, is beyond my mind really! I hope the OP takes heart to what you went through & had her eyes wide open to the control & abuse thats being done from a distance & theres no such thing as it getting better or him changing. I hope she stops it NOW & cuts the cords! Let him fall on his backside & may he never come over here to make her life worse!

Middle East and North AfricaSudden CHANGE!!! What do I do!?
First Im sorry about your situation. These are HUGE red flags. He's trying to control you over the phone or internet & ya'll arent married yet? Run FAST! Do not allow a man to control when you can smile, what you can look at or which direction you turn! You should be loved & adored, not controlled & abused emotionally, physically or mentally. If you truly want to stop the process, by all means DO IT! Praying for you & this situation!

Middle East and North AfricaTraveling To Egypt--Questions

I had no problems finding good bathrooms in cairo, just had a problem figuring out which button or knob went to flush it or turn on the water to clean your bum....lol

Well on my wedding day at the Ministry of Justice & the KFC in Alex -the restrooms were gross! I had to use the mens restroom on my wedding day @the Ministry of Justice bcz the womens was totally broken down. That mens restroom could not have been cleaned in FOREVER. Seriously gross! & KFCs restroom = eww! The only one that I can honestly say was clean was at his grandparents house where I stayed. Every other one had never been cleaned in ages.

Middle East and North AfricaTraveling To Egypt--Questions

I was just there earlier this month and I can also confirm that you can get your visa at the airport. I got mine through the consulate here, got a 6 month multi-entry visa since I'll be going back again really soon. Mine was processed in 2 days, but I called ahead and made sure they'd do it for me.

I usually don't need cash money when I'm there (fiance pays for everything once I'm there), but you can get it from the ATMs there. Be sure to call your bank or card issuer to make sure they know you're going to be out of the country or this could cause issues. They can lock your account if there is unusual activity and that's a giant pain.

I usually carry a handful of pounds (coins) in my pocket or I make sure I get a few pounds from my fiance when I have to run to the restroom if I don't have any Egyptian currency on me. There is a lot of tipping going on there. There's usually a bathroom attendant and I'll give her 2-3 pounds... I have food delivered a LOT, tip those guys... Cab rides, needs cash for those.

Have a great trip!

Off Topic, but I remember in 2007 when I was at the Cairo airport about to leave, it was my first time to use the hole in the ground. I had to go bad! The older woman held the roll of toliet paper & handed me like one square, then she wanted a tip. I gave her 50piasters. I told her I needed more, she gave another sheet & wanted another tip. I took the whole roll from her. I think her eyes were HUGE! lol it was hilarious, but I was serious!

Very sweet to hear the positive moments of your lives on here! Thanks for sharing.

I know Im truly grateful for my husband. In July we celebrated our 5th yr anniversary, Oct 23rd we celebrated 6yrs together total. In November we just celebrated the 1yr anniversary of being in our very first owned house and we are loving it! Adam is such a hard worker, always getting a raise & recommendation papers from his Managers. Hes up every morning by 3am for work (tough stuff!) and lately has been working alot of overtime for the holidays which he is stacking up to buy me a really nice newer white gold wedding ring *early christmas present!
He's been eligible to apply for his citizenship since May & hopefully right around the corner from filing the paperwork & mailing out that $$$. We have lots of LOL moments together, go out to dinners/dates, call each other all the time, leave love notes around the house, and drives me nuts! lol Im definitely looking forward to my lifetime with my boo!

Im very proud of my hubby lately. He's been working over time on his Fridays off. Mon-Thur hes up at 3am for work and on Friday they have him go in at 7pm to 5am which is really hard since hes always up in the wee hours of the mornings on his regular days. Next week Wednesday he's getting me a new ring that I just fell in love with. He always says I complain when he spends money on me, so Im making up for it now :D

Middle East and North AfricaAre you currently in Administrative Processing?
Adams was about 4months or so of AP. That part didnt bother me at all, I kinda figured it would be something like that due to his "common" name. When you have many people from the same country with the same names A.M.A son of M.A. grandson of A.M.A and down the line, AP can be lengthy on top of whatever else it is that they check coming from high fraud countries.

We had an "Islamic" marriage and I didn't have to show proof of my religion. I said I was Muslim, they took my word for it. Non practicing and all.
