IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresRequest for Evidence?

Fortunately I'm living for free in Afghanistan and $1k a month covers everything my wife and son need in Thailand, so the money isn't a concern. My primary concern is any time that may be lost due to an error in filing.

Since you filed both petitions separately, time shouldn't be lost as your I-130 will keep trudging along by itself. As others have mentioned, the K3 has been obsolete for about 2 years now. It was ordinarily used to bring the spouse in the country while the I-130 was being processed (it could take years for the I-130 to be processed). Since the timelines for the I-130 have decreased significantly since then, the K3 will arrive at the NVC stage at the same time or shortly after the I-130 and they will administratively close it and just proceed with the I-130.

Essentially, the money you paid for the K3 is non-refundable and the application won't help you. But it shouldn't hurt your chances either.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAbout transferring a case

@dwheels , the beneficiary which is my husband lives in Russia but he is a Nigerian. So do you think it requires interview ? and will they send me letter in the mail telling me what to do ? or i should keep calm and wait for their next step.

Of course he will have to be interviewed. Did you put the Consuate in Russia as the place to interview or will he be interviewing in Nigeria. You just filed so its just reshuffling work around. You will get regular processing. All they did was transfer your case. You still have some waiting to do than NVC than interview queue. Like another 5 to 8 months of waiting.

We put his address in Russia but I was told that i supposed to put his Nigerian address since his not a citizen of Russia, then he must have his interview in Nigeria and i was told that once they send is approved and the NVC finished theirs also and they send the IV to Moscow , I should contact NVC to change the embassy from Moscow to Lagos and then he can have an interview in Lagos. please is this right ? if not, what should we do. please i will be happy if you can reply

My Husband is in the Ukraine right now, hasnt lived in Nigeria for almost 2 years due to school. His interview will be in the Ukraine though! So even if he is not from Russia, you can still file from Russia. His nationality does not matter, what matters is the place of residence. Does he have a resident permit in Russia?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresPolice certificate, AOS package, and timing???
How do I get a police clearance letter/certificate? I called my local police department and they said they don't give them out unless we get an official request from the agency requesting it. Will I get this at some point in time?
Next, I sent in the payment for the AOS on August 2nd, 2012... will I be receiving a package following this payment? Or do we just send in all of the info according to the website? We are doing this with no lawyer but some legal consulting so I feel like I'm going to go crazy with paperwork and miss something super important.
Lastly, about how long (in your experience) does everything take after the AOS and IV Bill? Estimated time until the interview? My husband is originally from Mexico and we're going though a CR1 visa. Thanks so much for all the help!!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedurese slow visa agent. will not mention the name of the agent.
From that link I posted:

"DO report any representative’s unlawful activity to USCIS, State Bar Associations and/or State Offices of Attorneys General."

Small claims court is an option.

It was not my idea it was my husband ideas and it was not a lawyer it was an agent, yes he wasted his money..and you are right.

Must be a common occurrence or the USCIS wouldn't have an article on this subject.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresIs the tax tramscript originals needed at embassy?

***** Moving from US citizenship to CR-1 forum as OP is asking about that process *****

Recall needing those for that I-864, then again for the I-751 and the N-400, but that was only for we were paying taxes together for the latter. A good sign of a happy marriage, couples that pay taxes together stay together, I guess.

For the former, want to make sure you are rich enough first before you can import an immigrant.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresIs the tax tramscript originals needed at embassy?
Tax transcripts are just a printed copy, maybe somebody from the FBI can tell the difference between my copies on a cleaned up copying machine. I can't. Well, I guess I can, using a better grade of paper than the IRS, should shop around for cheaper paper.

Very easy form to duplicate or even forge, but not a good idea. I got the tax transcripts for my stepdaughter just by knowing her name and SS number, they already knew her address. Guess if I can do that, so can the USCIS, they also have that information to compare what you give them and what they get from the IRS. Doing that would get you deported.

Hi Turia... im curious, what's the free course on fatiha about? are the courses on sunnipath online only or is there any physical classes? im really interested to find flexible classes for me and my hubby.. he's not keen re the mosque in his town. he found one he feels comfy with but its like 2 hours away, so that will be difficult to visit often. In my community here in Malaysia, women very rarely go to mosques.. maybe for tarawikh during Ramadhan, or prayers during eid, or on nikah day. most of the other religious activities/ceremonies are mainly at home. smile.gif

I love athat one too. I don't have any place to find abaya's at around here.

I was really lucky to have the return center for jelbab.com in Minneapolis. When I first moved here, I called em up and asked if I could pick through the returns. They ship from Jordan, but for US customers, they send the returns to Minnesota (or at least they did, haven't ordered from them for awhile). I got 2 abayas and a jelbab for $30 each. My very first abaya that I still wear often is from there. It's black with a mock coat and white embroidery running down the openings of the coat. Let's see what they have now that i like, hmmm:

There Granted, I don't think it's necessary to wear an abaya or a jelbab, so long as your clothes are lose and modest. But, I do like the convenience of throwing it on over my lounging around the house clothes and heading out the door quickly.

There are a ton of good places to buy online. An aquaintence of mine maintains a directory - http://modestclothes.com/

I've only purchased clothing from jelbab.com, Islamicboutique, and Shukr. Shukr is by far my favorite, and I wear something from them almost every day.

My husband is such a poop. I showed him this and he says no i don't like the material. He thinks i need to get everything from Morocco but we won't be going for a while. And to have someone ship something to us, it would be cheaper to just order it off line. I don't understand him. It makes me so angry.

Fluffy post time. It's been awhile since I've been abaya shopping. I'll probably just wait until the husband goes back to egypt later this year and have a tailor make knock offs of gulf abayas. I love love love black abayas, and the mini renaisance in gulf abayas has me swooning.

I do want to order this one though:

Rahma - I love the Burberry Abaya - tres chic and the pink embroidered one is very eye-catching. I think that would be so sharp with a pretty lime green or aqua thread, too. good.gif

I have heard that a mosque here offers Arabic classes once a week. I'm not Muslim but thinking of checking it out. Does anyone have experience with this?

Ours had an Arabic class but there weren't enough attendees to keep it up. Now they offer Arabic for the Quran reading which is more advanced Arabic. I have had a hard time finding Arabic classes in my area. It seems like there aren't any anywhere, not even at the local colleges. I would like to know more of the language. I could see my son throwing a fit for something in Arabic and I have to call my husband to ask what he wants. He is already talking half and half blink.gif

Tasha, I would see if you can get the Rosetta stone series. You might be able to put it on an ipod.

This reminds me of my friends - they're Argentine and Venezuelan, but the husband's mother is from China. She only speaks Mandarin with the little girl. The little girl would ask for things in Mandarin and her mother would look at her like... blink.gif unsure.gif . laughing.gif But she's super smart as she now speaks Spanish (both Argentine and Castellano), Mandarin and English - it's hilarious.

I thought about investing in Rosetta Stone..its just so darn expensive!!! I really need to get serious because this kid is catching on quickly to both languages. It's so funny he was calling our cat by Arabic last night. I said what is he saying honey, he said arabic for cat!

That's so cool. Does your husband speak to him exclusively in Arabic?

If they don't have a beginner adult class, maybe they'll let me study with the babies. Wonder if some moms do that, sit with their little ones in Arabic school.

Well, I know there are resources for Darija, and I know Rosetta Stone is good. I've been lazy about studying, but the rubber is meeting the road; hoping for a reunion in a few months and I really, really want to get some conversational Darija down before then, so I'll get cracking, and my husband is just going to have to live with my funny accent. blush.gif

He mainly speaks to him in Arabic. We figure that is the only way he will learn the language is if he is spoken to in it. I speak very little Arabic..more words I should never say in public blush.gif I can pick up on some conversations but I can't reply. I checked on Rosetta stone and it so more than my budget can allow right now. I tried the library but no luck there. Maybe they will let you study with the babies!! Hey, its a start!!

I know very little arabic also. And Kamal won't teach me the bad words!

Thank you HLM and Rahma! I will check both sites. You are both very kind to respond to my issue and I'm grateful of the support and help! Rahma, I will probably be using that PM. If I start to bug you with it though, tell me!

I know it's probably wrong to say, but sometimes I tell Ahmed I wish God would just come down and say "Tina, this is the direction I want you to go". I'd drop everyting and go. But like Ahmed says, why would He do that for you when everyone else has to figure it out themselves. He's right. There's just a lot of soul searching and trying to figure things out that I haven't before. I hate to admit I've never been "in to" my religion, it was more of a process I went through. I want to feel my religion and my God in my life, and know exactly what it is and why and believe it more than anything else. I want to be excited about what I believe. Just have to figure out what that is. blush.gif

There are so many things I love about Islam and the Muslim people, I know it's a community and family I would love to be in. I just have to know that I'm doing it because I believe it and feel it, and that it's nothing to do with my husband.

Thank you again!! rose.gif rose.gif

Hello all. I was wondering if the following situation happened to anyone. Last Thursday was my interview for the k1 visa. Things were going well. At the end of the interview, the person who was interviewing me told me I did not have enough evidence. Instead of declining me for the visa, she told me they were going to forward something to Washington DC. Then if approved I send my passport with more evidence of ongoing relationship. Has anyone had this happen before? This was at the American embassy in Amman.

Sounds like AP. Which is fairly normal.
