Everyone has a right to post and have an opinion but when their comments are constantly negative (about anything from embassies interview dates, lives of others, past history or just any personal things people could get their hands on...) it begins to take a toll. I just felt tired of it and needed a break. I think others just choose to ignore it or they are part of the problem. I want support from people not comments that will bring me down. The stuff we go thru with distance from loved ones, government process....that’s enough stress we don't need people to pick sides or make others feel left out. However, I realize we don't live in a perfect world so why would I think this board could be peaceful either... That’s just me. IMHO Annie, You are my hero. I know it was hard for you to come back to VJ, and I am so grateful you did. You are always kind and thoughtful, and you will answer anyone's questions. There are many on here that will not answer questions, or if they do, it is an attempt to scare or belittle. You, and the few others like you, that are willing to help those of us that DO NOT have our visas yet, help make this scary process a little easier. I am still scared every day. I still have questions every day. I still feel overwhelmed every day. I still feel isolated every day. I come to VJ, because this is supposed to be a safe place to go to share my questions and fears, where everyone understands what I am going through. Annie, you have taken the fear out of many days for me, with direct answers to my questions and with post you have made to others. Please stay, and know that you are needed and loved on this site. Middle East and North Africa	It's Caturday	Morning all! What an exciting afternoon/early evening it was here last night. We came home to see a few police out across the street. And by the time it was all said and done, there were 8 officers. The people accross from me have been apparently (I knew this) selling drugs. They sit outside no matter what the weather, rain, cold, hot. And i had a feeling that was happening. They would sit in front and then move to the back, people were in and out of there all hours of the day or night. My neighbor finally had enough and called the police department and the alderman. They arrested all the guys that were living there/ They also think they may have found the computers that were being stolen from a few of the schools around here! Exciting Hey? It has gotten to the point now that I feel like we didn't eat anything if there is only 1 dish on the table to eat from . I think it may be because my hubster doesn't "do" casseroles or anything with melted cheese baked inside it. He much prefers it to all be seperate. He does like the occasional hamburgers/fries but I've found that he is most happy if I put everything into serving bowls/platters and set it all on the table rather than just fending for ourselves lol. He said the officer was very nice and stamped his passport with a work stamp before he could even ask. Does anyone know if he can get his liecense now or does he have to wait untile he gets his SS#?? We were on a CR-1 so I dunno if it varies or not but we had to have his SS# first so they would have a way to enter him into the system. He also had to show 2 forms of ID so 1 of those was his visa. I was sifting thru Sultan's Kitchen and saw so many great recipes but didn't wanna take my laptop downstairs and risk getting it messy in the kitchen...sooooooooooooooooo I thought, I'll just organize Sultan's Kitchen by meal, desert, soup, salad, etc and print it out. I also thought it would be cool to see different ways we all make the same meals so I'd print every recipe by every MENA'er that posted one in S.K. (if they are ok with me putting their VJ name on their recipe) So it would be like "amal's mansaf" "kelz' mansaf" "Jaxz mansaf" sereias kefteh, rahmas kefteh, saras kefteh... does that make sense? THEN I remembered hubster and how he needs stuff to fill his portfolio and thought..hmm I wonder if the girls in MENA would be interested too??? He has a minimum quantity of 100, I think, so the more ppl that are interested, the cheaper they will be. We would only charge what it costs to print and ship them. I haven't gotten it all together yet but am currently working to get all the recipes copied down and sorted - with the kudos to the original poster and the date they submitted it. For example, I know a few of my recipes are from Rachel Ray and some from Giada so you'd need to give credit to them somehow though you might not want to put those in since they're not really mena related other than being posted in a mena section of a visa message board. I'm not a lawyer and know very little about those laws but Rahma might be able to help out. Husband just shop vacced the basement to get the creepy crawly spiders away and now he's cleaning the kitchen.
