ok, I AM going to the interview.....but why in gods name would I need the DAS cert. when I have my passports? they show how many times I have entered and exited Colombia......makes no sense and why do I have to get it from Bogota? Cant I get it from the DAS office in Medellin? Where my hubby lives.....AND can I get a link showing this as a *new* requirement because the e-mail I got from the embassy says nothing about that....

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresBogota Interview.....
ok, so i'm freaking out that I don't have everything I will need for my husbands interview in Bogota on the 14th *sigh* I will tell you what we have....(from memory I already sent and hubby received the documents in Colombia)

First off I would like to note I sent all originals to NVC they have original EVERYTHING lol(or should I say the Embassy has it now)

Copies of all packages(I-130, DS-230, and I-864)
We are bringing another original birth cert., Baptismal records, the migratory records, a newer marriage cert(all original even though the NVC forwarded originals and we have copies lol)
I have two Photo albums one full of the three trips I made down there and one full of wedding pics
I could not add him to my bank account without a SSN but I do have him added to my phone bill and public service bills and have copies of that. Chat history, e-mails, phone records, Screen shots of skype/MSN calls, records of money I have sent to him through money gram, little trinkets and what not that represent cute moments we had together haha...hmm I think that is it....

Am I missing anything???? (His medical is set for the 12th and interview the 14th so i do not have medical stuff yet)

Any feedback is greatly appreciated thanks in advance ;)

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresDenial.....don't know how to proceed
Ok, so my husbands interview was on the 14th of September I went with him everything was smooth and fast until we got to the final interview window and I/hubby was told our sponsor didn't make enough money so we have to go back when we figure it out......My situation is this....

My cousin filled out all the sponsorship paperwork on his own and it wasnt enough($18,387)
Now his wife said she would include her income with an I-864a

I'm confused....does my cousin have to fill out and I-864 again? or is the one on file good enough
is all I have to do is send the new I-864a for his wife including her birth cert. and 3 years tax info?
When doing the I-864 and I-864a is it based off of your AGI or your take home after taxes?
WHY DID THE NVC NOT TELL ME THIS BEFORE I TRAVELED ALL THE WAY TO COLOMBIA FOR THE INTERVIEW?!?!?!

If anyone has been in a similar situation your input would be greatly appreciated tahnk you!!!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion about second interview.....
The bank is colpatria we were given all the same stuff my problem is with my sponsor though so it might take me a bit longer because I have to get my sponsor now to add his wife's documents(they were just married)with an I-864a and have my sponsor send ANOTHER I-864 along with all the required documents for the I-864a(tax returns etc.....) then I have to mail all of that stuff to Colombia...when my husband receives it he can call the bank and go through all the ####### lol but really only 30 minutes at the embassy for the second interview?? awesome :)

Sharon+Larry sorry you have to go through this too but at least you live close to the embassy....my hubby has to take an 8 1/2 hour bus ride back and stay in a hostel for a night or two.... (we can't afford flights)and I will not be able to go to the second interview now because i exhausted all of my finances going to the first.....:( I hope that doesn't make a big difference....

anyways thank you guys for all your input I feel a bit relieved knowing you got back on track pretty fast felo391971 :)

I know all embassies are different as far as speed but have any of you been delayed/denied due to paperwork problems and had to go back for a second interview? if so how long after you got the faulty paperwork fixed did you have to wait for the second interview to be scheduled? I'm crossing my fingers for two weeks I hope it doesnt take another month...i;m not even sure if he needs another interview or just goes in with the paperwork and says here ya go i got what you needed lol any info would be greatly appreciated tanks ya!

No, if she has no income and can not contribute you do not need to fill out another I-864a for her actually you do not NEED to use an I-864a unless you need to to meet income requirements....So if you and your(you said step father right) make enough between you two there is no need to add anyone else in the household

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHelp please!! confused!

Hey, can you please explain what happened? My step-father is my co-sponsor so he filled out the I-864a but since my mom didn't work, I didn't fill out anything else (she wrote a letter acknowledging responsibility along with my step dad). My husband's interview is in November and I'm doing the finishing touches on the information I need to send him (new I-864a-step dad got a better job, and we both definitely meet eligibility). I already bought my husband's plane ticket (about 3 weeks after his interview, JIC) and wish to not have any more delays. Your situation might help the rest of us out!

Thanks!

I'm confused......Do you and your stepfather live in the same house? If you do then you were right...You fill out the I-864 and he fills out the I-864a and your income can be counted together because you are in the same household BUT! If he does not live with you then you did everything wrong......If he does not live with Then you must fill out an I-864 and he must fill out an I-864 as well not the I-864a....and if that is the case and you do not live in the same household then you can not mix your incomes together. That is why I was delayed(221-g).....I thought me and my cousin(sponsor) could mix our incomes and have enough to sponsor my husband but me and my cousin do not live together so that didnt work and the NVC said nothing. They said our paperwork was fine and sent it on to the embassy. When we went for our interview the CO told us our sponsor did NOT make enough money and we had to leave and figure something out. I called my cousin ASAP and we talked about our options. He said he would add his wife with and I-864a and that worked because my cousin and his wife live in the same house and share an income. So I am the original sponsor(I-864) but I do not make enough money :( so I went to my cousin because we do not live in the same household he had to fill out the I-864 as well but when he added his wife because they DO live in the same household she had to fill out the I-864a sorry if this is confusing I am by no means an expert lol but that worked.....We sent the documents to the embassy through DHL and a few days later they called my husband to say "All of your paperwork checked out but I am afraid you were put into AP you must wait for us to contact you" my husband asked "so the paperwork we sent you 4 days ago is fine?" and she said yes that is my story

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHelp please!! confused!

everything checked out all right... you guys just have to wait. when they tell you that you are going into an administrative review is because they are going to check everything. Not because something is missing (they already told you everything was ok). It's standard procedure to double check it. just wait for the call that will inform your husband that the visa is approved. Gotta be patient. For some reason they put few(i think it's randomly but in your case i think they saw an opportunity because you missed some stuff) people under administrative review but it's a done deal....

How long could this take? I mean if they said everything was ok i just don't get why we have to go through this :(.....We have had so many bumps in the road I wish it would just smooth out *sigh*

HI There i have a question, Why did you need that from your co-sponcers wife?
Was just the co-sponcer not enough?
i am asking because we are using a co-sponser too.
"We were sent away with a 221-g because we needed and I-864a from our sponsors spouse."

You are exactly right....our original sponsor did not make enough and we needed to add his wife with the I-864a

OK, my husbands interview was September 14th at the embassy in Bogota Colombia. We were sent away with a 221-g because we needed and I-864a from our sponsors spouse. I went home to the states got that info ASAP and expressed shipped it to Colombia thinking my husband would have to go back for another interview......Well, Bogota adapted a new system and now accepts documents sent to them through DHL so my husband does NOT have to go to the embassy again. We sent the papers to the embassy last week and my husband got a call today. They told him(he is having a hard time getting me to understand what they told him) that they processed our papers and everything was fine, but the embassy was having administrative problems....NOT us(administrative processing)...them(?)....I don't understand....if everything checked out with our file...why was he not approved? why do we have to wait longer? grrrrr Any info would be greatly appreciated

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion About I-864EZ and Joint Sponsor
I'm no where near actually sending this all in but I'm trying to get it all prepared to speed up the process as much as possible.
When it comes to the AOS I will need a joint sponsor but it looks like I qualify to use the I-864EZ. What do I use for the joint sponsor or does using a joint sponsor mean that I DON'T qualify to us the I-864EZ?

I'm just a little confused on who exactly is included in the household size when using a co-sponsor. For instance, my mom is my co-sponsor so does the household size include her, my stepdad, my stepbrother, my husband and me? My husband and I will not be living with them but I do understand that he will be included in the household size because of sponsorship. That's kind of what I'm getting from everything I've read. I guess I just want to make it clear. Thanks!

So, I've read on the forum a couple responses that state, "If you were to get an RFE for you're I-130 you would have gotten it by now." IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresDidn't disclose Intention to Marry at POE

Hello everyone. I just joined up and have a question.

I am currently in the US from the UK on a visa wavier. I am due to fly home to the UK this Sunday, 17th July 2011. My now wife lives in California and a few months ago her mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer. My wife and i weren't supposed to get married until i moved to the US next year but because of the news with her mom we decided to get married while i was here now. We made the decision to get married in April this year and i flew to California in May with the intention of getting married. At the port of entry in New Jersey when asked what the purpose of my visit was i just said that i was here to spend some time with my friend and their family because my friends mother was recently diagnosed with terminal cancer. I have been to the US to visit my wife 7 times in the past 4 years and i never once mentioned a girlfriend or fiancee. I always said i was visiting friends in case they didn't let me in.

We have started gathering all our information and filled out the I-130 form. All we need to do now is gather some affidavits of support and then after i go home my wife is going to petition to bring me back. We are a little worried though in case they ask what i said at the port of entry when i arrived here to get married. Technically i didn't tell the whole truth.

My question is.

Will the fact that i just said i wanted to visit my friends because their mother was sick and didn't mention that i was also getting married go against us an if so, to what degree?

My intention isn't to stay here now. I intend to return home and wait for the process to be completed.

To summarise

Back in April my fiancee got news that her mother was terminally ill.
She called me and told me about this and we decided to get married during my upcoming visit in May because she wanted her mother to be at and able to enjoy our wedding.
I entered the US but didn't mention my wedding intentions
We are now married and i am returning home in 2 days while we file the I-130 form and wait for the process to complete so i can return as a permanent resident next year

I don't think you're going to have any problems. The USCIS won't know WHY you visited, just that you did. It's also not a problem because you didn't come to the US with intent to stay. Because you are are going home, you'll be perfectly fine!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNVC LIES

Mybe I misunderstood the post. If I did I apologize. While I have greatest respect for military personnel I just do not see why military personnel has to get their documents processed faster than any other people? All of us are tax payers, all of us are USC. All of us are working. All of us want to be with their loved ones. The fact that you are military does not mean that you love more or that you want to be with your loved ones more than other people. Military do enjoy more benefits that the rest of us. However, being with the loved ones is the same for everyone. These are just my 2 cents. Being in the military is your personal choice. Choice of profession. No entitlement to privileges that are outside of usual military privileges. I apologize if I misunderstood the post. Good luck!

I agree. Sometimes in life you just have to wait it out. This is one of those times. It sucks that the NVC is not always accurate with their info but the rest of us have to deal with it too. Remember, you are not the only person going through these frustrations. Just as wanting to marry someone from a different country was your (and mine and pretty much everyone else on this forum) choice, being in the military is your profession choice. And there is nothing wrong with that and I thank you for your service but this is not an area of life where military personnel should get special treatment. Everything will work out if your papers are right and ready to go and you act promptly. Good luck.

Happy New Year's Eve to everyone from us! Have a wonderful last day of 2010!

Tammy, Wael loves English bulldogs so i'm thinking that's what we will get. Your puppy
came to a wonderful home!!

We also will be staying home tonight. It's safer! Had a little snow on the mountains yesterday
but it's gone today. Love these overcast days we're having.

Terrie, hope your husband is home now and feeling better.

Wishing everyone a great day and a fantastic New Year!

Thanks Jeanne, looks like its gonna be a few more weeks maybe. And it also looks like he has Glacoma. I just cried and got so depressed last night... I would appreciate prayers for him. He has to go back to doctor in 10 days and if his count isn't down then he will be treated with drops for life. Inshallah he will be able to come home then.

All our snow has melted here, it was 50 degrees today and not sunny but the rain finally ended. I wish the sun were out, i'd layed on my deck trying to soak up some vitamin d.
I hope all you have a wonderful new years and for those drinking, don't drink and drive, be careful!
