K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresG-325A - Where I've lived in the past 5 years
Thanks for the feedback guys! I'm still not sure though... I mean, I have all the addresses and exact dates that I lived in each apartment... I guess like other people have stated here... I'll just put too much information and maybe there won't be problems!

This website is awesome!!! Especially for the information regarding RFEs... the providing evidence of meeting was the most stressful part of this... but now I feel a lot better!!! Thanks again everyone!!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresG-325A - Where I've lived in the past 5 years
I'm sure other people have had similar questions/problems, but I was wondering if I could get some feedback from y'all. :)

I graduated from college in May of '06, went home and searched for a job, got a job and moved away from home!

On the G-325A form, it asks for the Applican'ts Residence in the past 5 years... Calculating back, that brings me to September of '02 (We're filing in September because I'm visiting then and we can be sure we have enough evidence, etc.). From September of '02 and September of '07 I will have moved 11 times (sometimes back and forth between two different residences). For most of that time I was a full-time college student, moving around because I worked in Washington, D.C. every other semester as part of my school program. During all this time my permanent residence was in my home town (since I was still a dependent) and I paid taxes and voted there.

To finally get to my question... Should I list all these places on the form? I don't want to lie (by omission) on the form... but is it a bad thing if I have moved around so much? Will they understand if I explain it? I want to do this where it creates the least amount of flags... but I was paid for the work I did in D.C. so I have to put that in the job section... Should I just add... some sort of addendum to each G-325A form that tries to explain all of this?

Just... if I do put all my addresses, it will look something like this:

1123 N. Oak Street, City, State 09/02 - 12/02
111 S. Spruce Street, City, State 01/03 - 04/03
333 E. Poplar Ave, City, State 05/03-12/03
2222 W. Tree Dr, City, State 01/04-05/04
333 E. Poplar Ave, City, State 06/04 - 08/04

etc. etc. until I get to 11 different places... Help! :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresG-325A Employment Data Question
I didn't know how picky the people at USCIS are... I worked for the federal government for awhile and had to fill out a form for a background check... They called all my list of references (not job references, but background references) and then had me come in to speak with them about the information I had listed... Although, thinking about it... I guess that more pertained to the fact that I wasn't born in the U.S.

Anyway, thanks again for commenting Yodrak! Sometimes we all need that hand to come down and say "Stop!" :) I really appreciate it!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresG-325A Employment Data Question
So, I just created my own topic, but I guess I should have read a little further... although my topic is about the residence spot on the G-325A...

Y'all put ALL of your jobs on the sheet? Like if for instance you... worked for 1 and 1/2 months at a University calling alumni for money for about 6-8 hours a week?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresVisa Journey doesn't list my fiance's embassy + government change?

Does anyone know about the Macedonian embassy? My fiance isn't from Serbia but his country is currently run my the United Nations Mission in Kosovo so he has to have his interview in another country, in Macedonia. Has anyone had any experience with this? Visa Journey only lists Yugoslavia, and doesn't have Serbia, Montegro, or Macedonia as even options. Also, anyone have any idea what would happen to the process if there is a change in government?

Nikola lives in Macedonia, so the embassy in Skopje is the one that has jurisdiction. There is a woman on this forum named 'klea' and she posted her interview experience here: http://www.visajourn...showtopic=66801

Hope this helps! We are still in the forefront of our visa journey, but if I can help at all I will try! :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresquick question about g-235a

When I was working on mine and Jacki's packet, I found it a bit cumbersome to get to the guides for our forms and what needed to be submitted with them. But I found them, all the same. Still, I wish it were somewhat simpler to navigate around here. Don't get me wrong, it's a very good, useful, and yes, helpful site.

Not to be too antagonistic... but how was it hard to find the guides? At the top of the page there are many blue colored tabs among which include 'Home' 'Forum' 'Guides' And don't even get me started on the 'Guide' page... It says in red lettering.. "Begin Here" Which, wonder of wonders... means to begin there. And then things are further broken down into guides for marriage, guides for fiance, etc.

I think this website is fantastic! And if anything, the USCIS/state.gov sites are confusing to navigate. :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMarriage License

For some States, you can obtain a waiver explaining why you don't have a SSN. I'm not sure how you do that though.
You can also shop around and check if there are States around you where it's not required.

Unless you are planning something special with family, keep in mind that it's not required to get married in the State you live in.

Thanks for that, we are having family and friends from TX, seattle and UK so TN is as good a place as any ;-)

I can't wait *eek*

Thanks for all your help.

Have fun! And advance Congratulations! :) I'm from TN and it's beautiful there! :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures2 questions before I mail this?
Interesting... I wasn't born in the U.S., but I became a naturalized citizen when I was a baby. I guess the question makes more sense because of that. On my Naturalization Certificate, it says "Be it known.. bla bla bla, in city, state on month, day, year... bla bla bla... is now a citizen!

Forms can be so confusing... even if they aren't, it's easy to make them so! :) Good luck!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresRFE Check
It's a little late for this... but in Nik's town (or the whole country, I'm not sure) foreign visitors are required to register with the local police department if they stay more than 3 days (hotels take care of this; it's only for staying in a private residence). They need proof of identification and the address the foreigner will be staying at for the duration of their trip.

On the guides and in the RFE letters it states that letters from COs dictating where they are stationed count as primary evidence. I wasn't sure, but I thought a form from the police department in Macedonia stating I was residing at Nik's house from DD/MM/YYYY to DD/MM/YYYY would be considered primary evidence as well.

OP, like you, I've been reading the guides over and over and over again (as well as USCIS.gov, state.gov, even the actual laws!)... somewhat obsessive about avoiding an RFE because of lack of evidence of meeting. (I mean, the process is long enough without prolonging it myself. :P)

Good Luck on your journey! Your list looks good! Even though I'm no expert... just my opinion from what I've read. :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresJust read!!!

Thank you for answers...
I just wanted people to know how hard time I have right now, and,if its possible to find out what means minor heart trouble and how dangerous it will be...
Right now all that I want to do is just be next to my Alvin, take care of him and tell him that everything will be allright...
But the only one way for me to see him is just wait when the visa process will be completed...
I pray for my Al and hope that he will feel better soon...
He is my everything ana my all in all...

Your story touched me as well Lola. Stay strong and I will keep you and your fiance in my prayers!

As for "minor heart trouble" there can be a whole host of different causes of his heart problems... some can be as simple as heartburn or as complicated as a heart attack. From what your fiance's friend said, it seems like it shouldn't be too bad. If your fiance is only staying for 3 days of observation... it doesn't sound that serious. Maybe his friend will have more information for you in the next few days.

Like others here have said, this whole process is very demanding and stressful. If I can be of any help at all, let me know!

QUOTE (LauraLee @ Sep 30 2007, 04:34 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Here is what it says in our starter kit from our immigration lawyer about the passport and passport type photographs:

"You must send us a photocopy of several pages of your passport:
page 1 (showing your signature), page 2 (showing your photo and
citizenship data), and the page(s) where your passport was stamped upon
entering USA (and any other country where you have met Laura)."

"You and Laura must each take passport type photographs for
submission with the USCIS petition.
We recommend that Laura find a local professional company to take the
pictures. We need two photographs from you and two from Laura for the
USCIS petition.
"

Congratulations and Good Luck!!!!
~Laura

Your lawyer is right if you are also sending in the USC's birth certificate to prove citizenship. If you do not include the USC's birth certificate (as in my case) then you MUST send in ALL pages of the USC's passport. This copy of the USC passport is totally separate from any information sent in as part of evidence of meeting within the past 2 years. To send in the I-129F (and this is just from my own knowledge and I will stand corrected if wrong) you need several things...

1.) To be a U.S. Citizen
2.) To have a fiance(e)
3.) To have met said fiance(e) in the past 2 years.

I used my passport twice, once to prove #1 and once to help prove #3. Some people use their birth cert to prove #1 and then their passport entry and exit stamps to help prove #3 and therefore do not need to send ALL pages of their passport.

On a different note... Kinko's is expensive... I should have just invested in a scanner!!! Probably would have been cheaper! But, can you really put a price on love?

They should make a Mastercard commercial about this process...

$79.82 for copy fees at Kinkos... $455.00 in filing fees for I-129F... $100.00 medical exam fee for fiance... $4000.00 for plane tickets to visit said fiance... The cost of kissing your loved one before going to bed each night... priceless.

I know I'm missing some fees in there, but you get the picture. It could flash to different clips. Standing in line at Kinkos, writing a check to USCIS, sitting next to a screaming baby on an airplane, and finally fade to black on a loving couple in bed. *sniffles* *wipes away tear* *sighs* That was beautiful...

Ok, can you tell I've sort of gone off the deep end? smile.gif

Happy Sunday everyone!!!

QUOTE (CL79 @ Sep 30 2007, 01:35 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Does the USC really need to copy ALL pages of the passport at this stage? I thought just the page with the entry stamp to his fiancee's country or the third country is required.

My fiance is about to send off the petition now and I thought we only need one passport style photograph for each of us instead of two? Okay now I am confused.

Cheers.... wacko.gif

I just went by the guides here on the forum and the written instructions in the packet... along with whatever I could scrounge up from the Federal Codes... When there was discrepancy or something left up to interpretation I went with the more conservative of the two.

About the copy of ALL pages of the USC passport... I'm using it as proof that I am a citizen of the United States. If you send in your birth certificate to cover that part then you don't need to send in all pages. (Although, I am sending in all pages for the entry and exit stamps too.. overkill probably, but the individual pages don't say that much in my opinion.)

I'm not sure where I read that I needed 2 passport style pictures because here in the guides and in the instructions for the I-129F it says only "a" photo a piece is needed... But I'm almost positive I read it somewhere, so I'm going to keep it at two.

As for the other stuff... Yes, I have ALL pages of my passport, twice. smile.gif I'm going now to make copies of the thing. One each for me and my fiance as is and then 2 more black and white for good measure. I've labeled the pictures with names as best as I can... some say "Nik's aunt" or "Nik's cousin" etc. I'm using a personal check for 455.00$ with today's date. (The check part was the most nerve wracking for some reason...)

And about mailing... I was going to Express mail it overnight so it would be there Tuesday morning. The USPS makes me nervous too... If I were richer I would fly to Cali and hand deliver it...

Anyway, thanks for all the feedback guys!!! I've been over this like 50 times! I actually finished on Saturday, but have taken the weekend to re-check everything... Gah! So stressful!!! smile.gif

  • Evidence of Meeting:
  • Copy of USC passport with entry and exit stamps labeled with little post-it flags
  • Internet trip itinerary, copies of flight tickets before use, copies of boarding pass stubs and baggage claim tickets for flight
  • Certificate from the police depeartment in Macedonia stating I stayed at my fiance's address from MM/DD/YY to MM/DD/YY

  • Train tickets for both of us for a day trip to a different city
  • Additional "for good measure" information:
  • Screenshots from email lists showing dates of messages both from USC and beneficiary
  • Telephone call log
  • Flight Itinerary for future trip to Macedonia for December/January
  • 8 Pictures of us with his family and in front of various landmarks (the American Embassy in Skopje, etc.)

Ok, what do you guys think? Did I forget something? Should I take out something? All opinions appreciated!!! smile.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWait...?
I brought my fiancee copies of everything that was sent during the K-1 application when I visited over x-mas. I would recommend that you send in packet 3 as soon as you complete your medical and police interviews and you know that you will be getting your I-134s from your fiancee within 2 weeks
addstMaleHong Kong2007-02-21 00:54:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWait...?
As I am a student and have no income... I was able to fill out the form very quickly. I had to have the my bank mail me a copy of the statement which took about 3 days. I notorized 4 forms at a hospital and sent via 3-day mail. My father is also co-sponsoring, he was able to get a statements from the bank, letter from his employer, and copy his assets, W-2s, mortgage, etc. in 2 days. They sent that via 3 day mail also. My fiancee recieved these about 10 days after she got her third packet and sent my pdfs of the forms. My fiancee arrange her medical and police interviews for Jan 19th and sent out packet 3 on the 26th. She got her response via phone on Feb 6th and packet 4 came on the 9th and was dated Feb 6th. She called on the 12th and arranged her interview on Mar 1st.
addstMaleHong Kong2007-02-21 00:44:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWait...?
We waited to mail packet 3 until after 1 week after my fiancee completed her medical and police reports. At that point she already had the I-134. It took two weeks for her to get packet 4. The consulate called her the day they mailed it to her and it took 3 days to arrive. Since you are instructed to schedule the interview in the month following the month printed on the top of packet 4, it probably would have been wiser for us to send packet 3 back the day of her medical and police interviews as we would have had the K-1 interview in February instead of March. Also, my fiancee bought the $100 hello phone card to call for her interview date. She used exactly 10 minutes. Although it costs more money I would recommend spending a little extra on the phone card if you require it because its better to have a little too much time than too little time.

If you haven't already sent in packet 3 and you anticipate that you will have all your materials before March, I would highly recommend sending it in as soon as possible in order to obtain a March interview date rather than an April one. On the other hand if you aren't planning to come to the US for a while you can always wait until everything is in order.

Good luck with the rest of process,
Charles

Hi

Just wondered what I need for my POE. Obviously my ever so attractive chest Xray and shiny new visa, anything else?

Also do I fill in the green landing card or the white one?

Thanks

Helen

At the POE you'll need your visa and the sealed, brown envelope. I'm not sure which color landing card you will need to fill out. When my wife came over from Thailand on her K-1 visa she filled out the white one.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow to withdraw application

Hello to all

Can anyone tell me how to go about cancelling a K1 application that has not yet been approved?

The NOA1 was in March but no NOA2 yet.

Does a person have to describe the situation or is it as simple as an email or phone call?

thank you in advance for any advice you may have.

Best Regards
samiam

All you need to do is send a letter to the service center stating that you want to withdraw the application. You do not need to state a reason.

The USCIS decides when they wont accept a form version, and they have the newest version posted to their website long before they stop accepting the older version of a form. They do not produce new versions every year. So use the version that they provide on their website they are the newest ones.

You send the I-129F form along with a 4 page G-325A form signed and dated by you, and a 4 page G-325A form signed and dated by your fiance to the service center specified by the directions included with the form. If Nebraska is the service center for your state that is where it needs to be sent.

About translating documents you can have a friend or the teacher who speaks the language do it, they just have to sign the translation at the bottom with a statement like:

I certify that I am competent to translate from [Language] to English and that the above [identify the document and to whom it pertains] is a correct and true translation to the best of my knowledge and belief.

Signed:_______________
Address:______________
Telephone:____________
Date:_________________

Hand written note is OK, as long as it is readable, send the original, but make a copy of it to keep.

You need to read the guides, and FAQ for answers.

Shoot!! I forgot to ask this also. haha 4 Q's
If she sent a hand written intent to marry form, is that ok?? Or will I have to ask her to send again typed??

Good day all
I have two quick questions about this process. A little background: I am going to bring a female, high school degree, no english, 25 y.o. from Peru. I am 26 m from WI with a university degree.

Where do I send this I-129F form, and all my info??
It said on the I-129F form that the place for me to go is Nebraska, is that correct?? Even if Minneapolis, and Chicago are closer?

ok, 3 Q's please. I was just reading a question a minute ago. He said that he needs the 2007 form, will I have to send this before Jan. 1 to be able to use the 2006 form still??

and my last question. If her birth certificate is in Spanish, do I have to have that translated to English?? Would a Spanish high school teacher be fine to use to have her translate??

Thank you very much all

I was just reading in the RFE's and someone suggested here, that if you have a signature on the document, i.e. the intent to marry form, so not send a copy of it, send the original, so i am wondering what i should do??

and one more question
for the passport style photographs, i have them in a clear plastic ziplock bag with a note saying "passport photos of....."
I thought I read this before on this website, would that be the correct way to do it??

I know it does not ask in the I-129F form for her birth certificate from Peru, but I am just a bit nervous I suppose. I am planning on sending this with. But would be better if I did not have to. Do I have to??

One more question, the translation form just says to have some attest to being fluent in that language and English. Is that all they have to provide is their signature?? Or do they also have to provide some form saying why they are qualified. ie. a teaching certificate in Spanish.

Thanks

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresreading finacial support question
2 down and it asks for showing tax forms.
This is where my question comes in. It says you must show 3 years of tax forms. Well I was in Costa Rica 3 years ago for a year. Working for 8 months of it. Will I have to somehow get those forms to show them I paid??
THEN....
2 years ago when I arrived back in the states, I got into a accident and spent a year out of work. So no taxes to show for that. What do I do about that??
stupid accident!!!
:)
but for real, wasn't the best!! but wasn't the worst, i did not die.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCo-Sponsor information needed

Beginning December 19, 1997, "agencies that provide means-tested public benefits to immigrants may enforce Affidavits of Support against their sponsors" until the immigrants become U.S. citizens, can be credited with 40 quarters of work, leave the United States permanently, or die.

Benefits being received by USCs do not have any impact on the fiance. The above information is in regard to means-tested benefits for the non USC - not the case here.

That part I understand, but I had heard (don't know if it is true) but I had heard that your chance of getting a visa when the USC is on some type of assistance could cause a problem. They said that immigration will think seeing as me or my children are getting benefits then he will end up getting benefits. This is why I asked. Hope I am not aggravating anyone with all my questions, I am sorry if I am. I just like to be well prepared waaayyy in advanced.
