K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPassport pages?
Hello,
I am about to make a copy of my passport for my fiance to take to his interview (I did not include a copy in the original petition) and I was wondering if I should make a copy of my ENTIRE passport. Even the pages where there are no stamps at all...? I know that the stamps can be proof of visiting eachother, but water was spilled on my passport and so most of the stamps are not even legible. So, my question is, should I just make a copy of the first page where my picture and information is, or should I make copies of every single page?

Thanks for your help!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresG-325A Question
Hey everyone,
On the G-325A form, where it asks for previous spouses, or other names previously used, should I just leave the space blank, or should I write "none" or "N/A" so that it's clear to them? I'd appreciate your help. Also, for my fiance, where it asks for a SSN or the Alien number, should I write anything or just leave it blank? He doesn't have either of those numbers yet. Thank you.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresText Messaging Proof?
Hello all,
My fiance has a lot of proof to bring to his interview, but as time passes and we're just stuck waiting, I start thinking that he needs more proof. Anyway, a lot of people recommend phone bills. Well, I use a calling card to call him, and I've printed out my receipt history that proves I've bought those calling cards since 2006. However, we text message each other every single day. How would I go about proving that? My online verizon account shows me a detailed account of text messages received/sent, however it just gives the numbers. If I print that off, how will that prove that I'm text messaging HIM and HE'S messaging me? The problem is, verizon apparently considers texts to Mexico to be "Domestic" so it's doesn't even saying "Text-Mexico," it just says "Domestic- Text."

Can anyone help me out here? Should I print some records just for the heck of it?? Or is there a way that I can make the officer believe that it's my number and his number? Thanks!!!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFiance's future address in U.S.
On the I-129F I filled in that my fiance would be living at my parent's house when he arrived, because that's what we had originally intended on. However, I am at college right now, and we have decided that he will be here with me until I graduate in May. Now... on the DS-156, should he put MY address or should he just put my parent's address?? The concern I have is that my address right now is definitely not permanent, but my parent's is. How important is it that the address put on the DS-156 match up with the I-129F?

I feel as though it might just be easier to say he'll live with my parents until I graduate, and then just put down their address. We won't be living in my apartment for long, and may even move home for the summer with my parents. What are your thoughts?

Thanks,
Caity

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIf the NOA2 has arrived, can I still travel to the US?
Thanks for the info!

since im going through a border crossing, not customs, I dont think that they'll give me too much hassle. But I just want to be prepared in case. I got travel insurance on my ticket just incase they deny me entrance.

At the border I'm just going to give them as little info as possible, as usual. IE: "where you going?" "Seattle" " why are you going?" "to visit friends" if they know about my case then I'll be honest of course.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIf the NOA2 has arrived, can I still travel to the US?
Hey,

My fiance just got the NOA2 in the mail today, and I was wondering, is it okay for me to travel to the states in a week?

We made travel plans a month ago, because we missed each other and we weren't sure when this whole thing would go through. So would it be okay to travel? what should I bring at the border crossing to prove I'm coming back (I'm flying from Seattle)?

I have my car insurance papers which runs out at the end of april (I come home on april 5th) and also a dentist appt card that says I have an appt on april 15th... thats really all I got, would that be enough?

Thanks for the help!

I love the support this site provides, its been a tremendous help in the immigration process. Thanks again!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDoes US petitioner have to go for an interview?
Hello,

my fiance got a letter in the mail stating this: "within a week (the case) will be forwarded to the appropriate center where your interview will take place"

Does this mean that he has to go for an interview as well? or does this just mean that they are sending the information to the consulate near me (Vancouver BC), where MY interview will be?

thanks for the info,.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresForm OF-167
Hey,

I just recieved my packet from the conuslate (vancouver, bc) and its telling me that the petitioner has to fill out form OF-167 "Sponsor's Financial Responsibility under the Social Security Act". If he is supposed to fill this out, why did they send it to me? do I just mail it to him? or do you guys know of a place to download it? Also, if we have a co-sponsor, do they need to fill it out as well?

Thanks,

I was wondering the same thing when I started out, and I even emailed an immigration lawyer and her prices were just atrocious... so I decided to follow the guides on the site to a T and everything worked out okay so far. But then again my case is really straight forward, nothing complicated.

Whichever route you decide to take, good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTravel advice and proof of relationship
hello,

I was in the same boat as you in march, I wanted to visit my fiance for 2 weeks so my parents could meet his. The week I was scheduled to leave they had sent a letter to my fiance saying that the case had moved to the NVC (after NOA2). I drove through the border and flew from seattle. I had brought with me my entire copy of the K1 package, my car insurance papers, and a notice from my dentist to show I was coming back, (plus a return ticket).

At the border the guard asked us why we were going, I said "to visit friends for two weeks", he looked at my flight itinerary, and all of our passports, then handed them back and said "have a good day". I have learned unfortunately that if you mention boyfriend/girlfriend/fiance etc... they get very suspicious, so just say "visiting friends" you're not lying... after all, your fiance should be one of your very best friends in the world smile.gif

good luck on your trip!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCan someone explain how the I-485 and I-751 work?
thanks for the quick response, I am just wondering if everyone HAS to fill out the I-751 or if there is an exception...

so... they put the conditional removal bit in to thwart people who get married for the wrong reasons? what will happen if I file for AOS after two years go by?

Also, I'm reading here that the fees for the I-131 and the I-765 ($305 and $340) are included in the I-485 price? does that mean if you file those two forms at the same time you still only pay $1010 for it? (instead of $1655). Any insight to that would also be greatly appreciated.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCan someone explain how the I-485 and I-751 work?
hello,

I'm a bit confused by the forms I-485 adjustment of status, and I-751 removal of conditional resident status.

does everyone need to fill out a I-751? or does that only apply to certain people? I was counting up all the fees I'd have to pay in the future and I wasnt sure if I had to fill out an I-751

I read somewhere that if you file for AOS after two years or something you don't need to fill out this form... yet it says to fill out the AOS as soon as possible.

from http://www.visajourn...amp;page=k1flow :
*If your interview (and specifically the approval) occurs within 2 years of your marriage you will be granted a conditional permanent residency (2 year validity). If this happens you will have to apply to lift conditions 90 days prior to your 2 year green card expiring. If you are 'adjusted' greater than 2 years after you were married you should receive a normal 10 year green card.

Can someone explain this to me?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPhotos: home print or kodak/walgreens?
Hey,

for my package I just taped my photos to a blank 8 1/2 x 11 page (4 or 6 to a page) then I color copied / scanned them. and I sent that in I had no problems what so ever. Even at the interview, they took the color copy pages, they didnt even look at the baggie of original photos which I brought.

if you have digital photos you could just arrange them in Word or something and print them off in color.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedureshow to get a copy of the marriage certificate?
Hey everyone,

Just got married on saturday (yay), I was wondering do they send me a copy of the marriage license or do I need to fill out this application to get copies? if I do need to fill out the application, what do I put for my last name?

It says "full name of bride (as it appears on the marriage certificate)" and then beside it says "Last (at the time of marriage)" but it also has another last name spot that says "Last (as it appears on bride's birth certificate, if different)". So my question is, do I put my new last name in the first last name spot and my old one in the second spot? or is my last name at the time of marriage my old name?

kinda confused about it, and I want to send this off soon so I can start the AOS process. Any help is greatly appreciated! smile.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDocumentary Proof of Having Met in Person in the Past Two Years and an Ongoing Relationship
When we filed the I-129f I put in all our phone records (landline and cell) from 2004 to 2007 and then all of our flight itineraries of everytime we met, and then the engagement ring receipt. Then for photos I color copied about 15 pictures total dating from when we met to when we last saw each other. I had more primary evidence than photo evidence. hope that helps!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresImmigration Lawyer/Attorney
I looked into getting a lawyer and it was expensive, way too expensive for what is required, and in my case, there was nothing unusual so having a lawyer was pointless. As far as I know, and I may be wrong, but I think it takes just as long with a lawyer... maybe even longer.

I followed the guides here and had no problems at all. smile.gif

Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPhoto Evidence
Most of my photos that I used for evidence I had either printed out (cause they were all from a digital camera) or I had color copied them (I used my moms photocopier, but a scanner/home printer can do the same thing). and then on the pages that resulted I wrote when the pictures where taken (IE: september 2005). So all of my pictures were on pages (regular paper, not photo). I submitted no actual photos.

Later at the interview, I had a ziploc baggie with all the photos inside, they didn't even ask to see them, just took the paperwork like I-134 etc.

Hope that helps! Good luck!

I don't have a list of denial reasons to give you so maybe someone can enlighten you on that.

However, in RE: to your other question:

I don't have any skills or college education. I had hardly any money to my name and I didn't have a job and I was approved. Also my husband didn't have a job at the time either so we had a joint sponsor help us. So no... those things won't be a reason for denial.

Yes it is, Those from the Dominican Republic have over a year to wait for the interview after the petition has been approved. The average is 533 days according to the site timelines. If your fiancee can get legal resident status in another country, it may be much faster getting an interview.

What country would you recomend considering he cant realy go to many places... Canada? Spain?
What if we get married in DR, will that be quicker can he come back with me right away?? Im so desperate hahaha

You cant just go to another country, you have to establish legal residency in that country. What that takes, and how long that takes varies by country. But for some countries it may be faster than to wait the 1-2 years for an interview in Dominican Republic. Pretty much any country is faster than Dominican Republic when it comes to interviews.

Yes you can...... you can go as a visitor and get married while you are there.

If you go to dominicanstotheusa.com you will find a lot of valuble information and other choices of where you can marry (different countries) and get a faster interview from an embassy that does not have such an extensive waiting list. The forum is very beneficial for people who have SO in DR.

Hello everyone!
I filed my paperwork for K1 on February 11 2008 and I had my NO1 on February 20 2008. After that, On April 7 2008 I filed on USCIS website the adress change and it was reflected on my portfolio as "Last updated" (I assume it was touched). Since than, I did not have any touches. I see everyone in front of me already has NO2, even some people who filed in March have NO2, but my case still was not touched. Should I start to worry and try to call to CSC or I still should be patient and continue to wait?
Also, if I am not an american born citizen, I am naturalized in USA, should it affect somehow on the waiting time?

HI

I was also worried about mine, So On July 25 I called the number on my NOA #1 and used the prompts to get to a "real" person and said I filed a I 129 in Febuary and was wondering if they needed any further evidence. The lady took my receipt number and told me I had been approved on Jult 23, Today July 30 I got the NOA 2 in the mail.

Now is it possible to have a joint bank account with your fiancee? I dont know anyone who has opened a bank account with thier fiancee.

J. and I opened a joint bank account while he was here on his last visit. Our bank required that we both appear in person, and that the non-USC needs to bring their passport. It was actually pretty simple, and since we both signed the account paperwork right there at the bank we made sure we got extra copies of it to include in our K1 filing package as extra proof that we were together. Going forward, we'll also keep copies of deposit records to show on-going relationship for when we get to the interview stage.

There was an extra IRS tax form that only J. had to sign as well, I forget the title/form # of it but it basically was a statement that he wasn't subject to US taxes as a foreigner.

Your bank should be able to tell you what their requirements are for opening up a joint bank account with a non-USC.

You are completely correct. I often forget that some have the luury that their fiancee can be here in the USA. I have dealt only with the Philippines. Eventhough many are here in the USA it is hard to get a visa to visit here. So I meant opening a bank account with a fiancee (overseas) in the Philippines. I had no interest to open an account in the Philippines with her. I will still include my banking statement as it would not hinder my petition.

I do have the usual pics from meeting in person and paypal receipts for eloads to her cell and copies of some calling cards I have bought online. How many chat logs should I send? I have about 1 years worth archived on Yahoo messanger? The evidence package Im sending her is getting very very large.

Sending her money and loading her cell phone might seem like good evidence of bona fides but I'd have her keep all that tucked away instead of offering it as evidence. It can be consrued as you being taken advantage of as easily as anything else.

Visits are actually the best evidence of bona fides.

Western Union receipts have been useful in the past by others and accepted. (I used them in 2001) a $3.00 load of a cell phone a couple times a month considering the large amount of texting we do shouldn't be looked at as being taken advantage of. Depending on the amount a person sends would determine if they are being taken advantage of. As for an ATM card, why pay $15 to western union to send $20? just dont make any sense.

Might be a good idea to keep it out of the initial evidence package.

No, three bucks for a cell phone load isn't a problem and I agree with the benefit of a debit card over using Western Union. My wife and I did the same thing but even though she was my wife already, we offered no evidence of having exchanged money.

Certainly there's no reason to include anything like this with the petition but again, I'd keep the evidence in the back pocket at the interview and use more compelling, straight forward evidence of bona fides that show a two-way relationship, including visits and regular communication. Sending a foreign fiancee money is not evidence of a bona fide relationship. It's evidence of sending money to a foreigner. A joint bank account would be evidence of bona fides.

Well I did this process in 2001 and I included some western union receipts and I will do the same this time. There is nothing wrong with including a few as I've known of so many others who have included it. They are not naive enough to think money doesnt exchange hands. I didnt include any "questions" about sending personal pics and other BONA FIDE evidence as I already know this should be included. Now is it possible to have a joint bank account with your fiancee? I dont know anyone who has opened a bank account with thier fiancee. I have all the meeting in person evidence I need. I've been there 7 times and I am Godfather to 2 of my future nephews. Church documents, family pictures, and much more.

Hello,

Im not a big letter writter. I have original cellphone bills showing my Fiancees overseas number for 2,272 text messages. (not the contents) Since January - July Would this help the lack of letters? We have exchange cards. She also has an ATM card we use for sending money. Beats the Western Union costs. The Bank statements states the city the withdrawals are made in for the last 9 months ++

I do have the usual pics from meeting in person and paypal receipts for eloads to her cell and copies of some calling cards I have bought online. How many chat logs should I send? I have about 1 years worth archived on Yahoo messanger? The evidence package Im sending her is getting very very large.

Thanks for any comments

You don't have to have letters. You have cellphone bills, photos, cards...

Chat logs are a good idea, maybe a sampling showing a period of time, to show the on-going relationship. We had greeting cards, phone records, some emails, chat logs, and pictures. If you've had subsequent visits to see your fiance, include other boarding passes hotel receipts etc. as well.

Don't send a ton of stuff though! Not only is it costly, but they'll never go through it all!

Best of luck!

Visa J, says to send a complete copy of the I 129F is this a copy of documents and such? My package Im sending my fiancee is getting very large.

When do I send her the I 134 and everything? We just got our NOA #2 do I wait?
