Wednesday will be week four. They expect us to give up our home (which we did) and our jobs (which we did) - establish a domicile in the US (which we did). I just wish they would hurry up. It's extremely taxing to be trying to live off what little you have left of your savings to actually MOVE down there. =( cray5ol.gif

Can the US citizen move down first and get your home set up and start working while you guys wait? Might be easier on finances.

I wish we could. It just isn't feasible to pay for another trip home for him AND then for him to come back to help me move down. (It's a 24 h drive in a u-hual with 2 cats) Not to mention the job he has, once he starts he can't really just book a week off since nov/dec are their black out months. Alas, we wait. One day we can all go home. It really just seems like 8 weeks in total is excessive considering we got them the information they wanted one week after our interview. I thought waiting for an interview date was bad! lol ah well. I'm defeated and going crazy. hehehehe headbonk.gif

Last I got was an e-mail on Saturday saying they are reviewing the file and will get back to me in 2-6 weeks. (LOLOLOL I love the variance of time) Either way after the 4 weeks are up (as per their own documentation) on Nov. 21 of them receiving our papers, we are calling our state senate and seeing if we can't swing something that way.

We both quit our job and gave up our apartment and definitely over staying our welcome where we are now. =( The money is running thin and it feels worse that we have to look at getting jobs just to maintain while they play their little thumb twiddling game. I am very upset. Not to mention we actually both have jobs waiting for us asking, when are you getting here? =/

I was sleeping, dreaming. I heard an envelope a breathing. Quickly I sustained and put my head down again. Just another dream I said, just another dream I cried. So back to bed I went, quietly sleeping.

Alas much to my delight, came when yonder light. Flicked upon and there I saw a big envelope of white. Frozen in my tracks I stared, what is this ghostly thing I shared. In an elevated haste, I ripped the corner with excite. Is it what I hoped for, is it what I dreamed last night?

Emptying the contents, and sifting through the mess. No clear paper to say what I hoped just an envelope and passport at best. Paging through the book I did not see a thing, again and again I flipped, but still nothing. Once again I paged, flipped them one by one and there it sat full screen on page 19. (it would sound better if it was 21)

APPROVED I CRIED APPROVED I SOARED!!

And that was the crazy tale of my domicile.

CanadaAmerican in Canada....AUGHHHH!
You may be right Trailmix. My husband and I were pretty sure we couldn't file for his PR if we entered the country under false pre-tenses. I'll have him look it up for sure just to be on safe side. Worse thing to do is go through the whole process and find out you get jacked cause you didn't say why you were coming into the country. lol =)

CanadaAmerican in Canada....AUGHHHH!
What you can do, and what we did: My husband came up in June and his visitor status ran out in December. Which obviously is not enough time to file and such, you also have to have to declare when coming into Canada, what were your intentions. We had to "flagpole" him (so fondly named by the border patrol). Basically drive out to the border and then back in and explain what you are doing. At that point the Canadian border patrol issued us a one year visitor visa with intent to marry.

During that time we filed for our PR card in April 2008. At the same time make sure you file for your work permit as well. There is a separate form on the Canadian Immigration site. That way when you get first stage approval they can give you your work permit instead of waiting like we did. (the Canadian immigration officer told us we should have done that) You basically send EVERYTHING in at once, except your medical. Do not do your medical until they ask for it, we had to do it twice cause our first one timed out. You may have file for an extension if you are applying within Canada. Done 3 months before the next visa runs out.

There are different qwirks filing within Canada and outside of Canada. If you file outside of Canada it does go faster unfortunately every time you cross the boarder you cannot say you are intending to stay and they can and most likely will turn you back if you leave, nor can you over stay a visit. Filing inside of Canada is longer, took us 18 months, but you stay legally in Canada, but you cannot leave at any point less you want to risk resetting your visa status (which they have done to people).

We didn't know about any of the immigration sites when we filed with Canada and used the Canadian Immigration site which was very very comprehensive.

Good Luck! =)

I think I died inside..... sleep.gif I had someone do that to me once... it was horrific then I quit.

CanadaMedical Question ):!
I have significant scarring on my arm from dumb childhood. It was never investigated and no questions were never asked. And the lady even used that arm to try and draw blood. Go figure that she had to do it 5 times cause the needle wouldn't hit a vein. Rubbed up and down my arm and even got another nurse. LOL

Nothing said. We do stupid ###### as kids. =)

You can still declare when coming in. They didn't ask if we were going to be doing an inland our outland application when we flagpoled. They gave us an extended visitor's visa of one year. It took us alone 10 months for him to even get his work visa. =( I guess everyone's experience is different. Mind you the lady at the immigration office told us of these shortening tips we should have been doing. lol.

oh well. by the time we were half way done we were wishing we did outland over inland.

Opps sorry 9 months for work visa. We started in April 2008 and got his work visa in January 2009 and got his PR card in Oct 2009. blink.gif

You can be in Canada and apply as an Outland App. I would highly recommend it as it is faster. You just send your paper work to an office in the US. Our inland application took us 18 months and we just finished it Oct of this year. Outland Apps average 6-8 months.

We thought the City Taxes thing was strange as well, but they required him to go down to the city office and pay taxes or they were going to charge him. We have the official letter and seal and everything. LOL Shelby, OH for those who are interested. So it was a city document where we were staying dated after our interview that we included.

Yes we are already in the US. Arrived two days ago. @_@ 24 hr drive in a u-hual with 2 cats.

After my husbands abrupt trip to Ohio (he is so sick of traveling) and running around in Ohio doing all of this and then having to cancel his return flight to finish up, he is now on a bus home, I overnight-ed our domicile information yesterday, estimated arrival is today at noon. Yea! for FedEx. However being the insane worry wart of worriers; lol I am hoping that the you all fine people could go over what I sent and give me that "It'll be ok, you're just being a moron." speech. =D

This is the letter that we sent and included a list of everything we sent with it (copies only) along with my passport. (scariest thing ever to be sending through the mail)

Vice Consul of the United States of America;

On the 13th of October 2009, I (husband, petitioner) was requested to provide additional proof regarding my domicile in regards to my wife's (me, applicant) visa application. The following is the information we have collected in regards to this request.

1.Lease agreement between myself and place of resident in Shelby Ohio where we will be living. Dated October 19,2009

3.Driver's License Renewed in the state of Ohio. Dated October 20, 2009
4.Voter's Registration. When completing the driver's application for renewal I was also registered to vote for the state of Ohio. Unfortunately they had no additional paperwork to photocopy for proof as it was done electronically.
5.New bank account for chequing and savings account with Nation City Bank created so that my wife may have a joint account upon arrival. Dated October 19, 2009
6.Letter requesting payment of city taxes for the year of 2008 and attached sheet stating why there was no income for 2008. Dated September 28, 2009 and October 19, 2009

8.Credit Card statement from Capital One Visa account indicating maintained account and continued ties. Period of September 4, 2009 – October 3, 2009
9.Credit Card statement from Chase Card Services account indicating maintained account and continued ties. Period of September 13, 2009 – October 12, 2009
10.Credit Card statement from US Bank Visa account indicating maintained account and continued ties. Period of August 27, 2009 – September 23, 2009
11.US Bank account statement indicating maintained account and continued ties. Period of August 15, 2009 – September 15, 2009

We hope that the information we have provided will meet the requirement requested regarding domicile.

Thank you for your time and efforts.

Sincerely,

Husband's Name

*crossing fingers* I hope it goes fast and I hope they aren't more insane than I am and request more information. Just cause I have that irrational sinking feeling that they will. ><

Thank you guys! <3 =D

CanadaLast minute panics in POE prep.
You could call the border and ask what you might need to bring if anything. That way you have time to get what ever it is they need if anything. I know we've called them a few times on what we could and could not do or what we had to bring. LOL Generally they were always helpful.
