Africa: Sub-SaharanVisitor visa for mother/mother-in-law
It is possible out of the 6 nigerian citizens I invited to my wedding 4 were approved 1 did not keep appointment at embassy and 1 was denied. They all showed strong ties to the country (meaning job or land) and I also filled out I-864 support documents for all (knowing it was not required). So be prepared tp fully except responsibility in every way and make sure she / they have strong ties and a valid reason for visiting and clearly identified plan / rational to return home..

Africa: Sub-SaharanDealing with family drama
My mother always told me "keep small arguments and disagreements with your spouse away from your family members and close friends", she always says "once you have forgiven, made up and moved on the people that are close to you usually still hold on to the anger". It is like how your friends and family usually can sympathize with their loved ones side of an argument without knowing both sides of the story (loyalty).

He will be able to travel to Nigeria with his Senegal passport or his ECOWAS passport, persons from 15 West African countries do not need visas to travel between countries. He just needs to keep his Senegal or ECOWAS passport current while in the states.

Every time I hear Kenkey, I remeber this little old lady walking pass my office in the Osu, North Labone area, you could hear her echos coming from far "KeeenKeeeey, keeenkeeeey" over and over again. When her voice would get close I would always run out side. Because, I knew the guying with the cooler was on her heals selling my favorite "fan-choco" in the brown and yellow bag.

Now I'm about to get upset,,, I'm having fan-choco witdrawls.

oh you make me want some milk. i love fan milk!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the chocolate one, yes the one in the brown and yellow bag. Someone needs to sell it here, I love it soooo much. good.gif good.gif

I carry a case in my luggage when I return from Africa. The pitiful thing is the first few weeks I eat them like crazy, but, when I get down to the last few, I act like there gold bullion.

This is my favorite (Nigerian) Igbo song

Chief Stephen Osita - Onigbo

I wish I could share my music with you, Well I can .....

Omoba bringing back sooo many memories....love this topic

Kwadelangezwa, South Africa - University of Zululand all the bashes the music the memories. I will never forget, I was driving at 3am on the dark roads in South Africa with 4 cars following me, all of a sudden I hit this great big pothole and ended up with 2 flat tires and only one spare. We were coming from an outside bash (party) and there was plenty of drink in the boots (trunks). No we did not all pull over stop 3 more cars, ended up being like 30 people pulled over on the side of the road blasting music and having a good time until daylight.

Trompies - Zodwa

Malaika - Destiny

Sorry to hear of you grandmothers condition. Just to let you know that my grandfather had a stroke at the age of 97 and the hospital recommeded him for physical therapy. He was never able to walk again on his on, but, he was able to stand and give assistance when they moved him around. So, it is possible for an elderly patient to receive rehab, there goal is usually not full recovery of the limbs but to continue with a better quality of life.

My prayers to you and your family.

I was also very ill this weekend with a lovely stomach virus. wacko.gif

I received some more bad news about my Grandmother, the cancer has riddled her body, she was sitting down last night and her femur bone (that is the large bone located in your thigh) snapped as she was sitting. She is in the hospital, she has told my mothers cousin that she does not want any of us to come, not me, not my sister, not my mum, not anyone. She is going to have surgery to stabilize her leg with a rod and some pins, she is talking about rehab for her leg, I do not see that as a reality, she is 88 years old, she has hidden this cancer for quite sometime.

My Uncle is in Iraq, he does not know yet, my mum, has been having trouble getting a hold of him.

My mum says she wants to die alone. My husband keeps asking why we arent going up to see her.

US Citizenship General DiscussionInterview Date Scheduled!!
You probably would get more input on Nigeria related issues, if you posted in the sub-Saharan forum. People there will better asist you, as Nigeria has a set of conditions that might not be applicable outside of West Africa. Another thing is they will support you throughout your journey; but, like siblings there will time to time be some small spats and misunderstandings, but we will always get through them. However, they will have your back even through the citizen ship process. For instance this post in the citizenship forum; you have not gotten to this point, your SO recently picked up his interview appointment. He needs to be approved arrive to US apply for AOS and then wait three years for this forum to become applicable.

I would advice not to double post but to post embassy specific questions in the applicable forum, they, we can better assist you through your journey, if we don't have to seek out your post (threads).

By the way good Luck on your interview, but again sub-Saharan can better assist Nigeria specific issues.
