IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWhen to do fingerprints?
We will be filing (FINALLY) the I-130. I know that I will have to submit fingerprints at a later date. Is it okay to apply for the finger check before it's asked? The issue is that I have lived in about 4 countries since I was 16 and finger processing might take really long (5-6 mths) in some countries. Do I wait until I'm asked or just submit fingerprint application forms to all 4 countries now? Thanks a bunch!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresTraveling to the US while I-130 is pending
We applied for the I130 late in October. I live in Windsor and he lives in Detroit so we travel back and forth frequently (less than 1 hour door to door). We haven't had any issues so far. I always carry docs proving my residence in CDN (bills, a job letter car regs).

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI 797 confusion
Hi Folks,

Just an update on my I130 drama. As I reported previously we received the the I-797 and there seemed to be some confusion on the part of USIS on whether I was living in the USA at this moment (I'm not). Then the letter advised us to file form I-824. I took the advice I got on this forum and my hubby called USIS. Long story short, it turned out to be a "clerical error" on their part, their words, not mine  The y emailed us that our file was sent to NVC. My hubby called NVC (and actually got through ). Our case has indeed been transferred!!! We should get a case number in a week to 10 days. Thanks everyone

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI 797 confusion
My husband just received the I-797 and we're so confused. It first states that the petition indicates that the person for whom he's petitioning for is IN in the USA and not eligible to file for an adjustment of status. But I'm NOT living in the USA. Then it states that I should file form I-824. What gives?? Help! What do we do next? :help:

My hubby and I got married in August and applied for CR1 in October. We sent in wedding photos and photos of him visiting my family at Christmas over our 3 year relationship. We also sent in affidavits from his sister and the 2 friends who stood up for us. Hope this helps! :star:

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresInterview Notice!
Take some proof (photos, cards, letters, ticket stubs etc.) They're not heavy to carry in with you and if you really need them and don't have them you'll want to kick yourself in the derriere! :innocent:

it is going to be hard but I promise after this process it will get better.  It was 7mths for us and the last month was the hardest but sitting here in my new home with my husband, it was all worth it.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresEvidence of Bonafided Marriage

I never lived with my husband.  We saw each other every week because we lived 1 hour away from each (Windsor-Detroit).  There was no problem with not having lived together.  For proof, we submitted wedding photos, affidavits from family and friends, and pictures from when I visited his parents and he visited my sister for Christmas.  Relax, it's gonna be okay.

My hubby came with me to the interview and I think it helped a lot.  He and the CO started talking about playing instruments in high scholl and within 2 minutes the interview was over!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHow to get original documents returned?
Ugh...when filing for the I-130 (which has been approved) I neglected to note how many times the word 'copy' was inserted in the list of requested documentation, i.e. a COPY of my birth certificate, etc., and submitted originals. Fortunately, I do still have certified copies of those documents but it leave me short for future submissions of whatever and are a pain to replace.

Is it possible to get original documents returned and any idea where I would begin?

Many Thanks!

Marie

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHusband has a UK vandalism from 1995
Hello...

My husband has a silly vandalism incident on his ACPO Police Certificate report dating back to 1995. He and his 'mate' were a bit tipsy and they chucked a stone that broke a pub window. His fine was for £50.

Does something this, sorry to use this word, insignificant require a certified copy of the court records? Or is this considered like a misdemeanor in the US and doesn't require anything more formal than the ACPO report?

Your assistance is greatly appreciated!!

Marie

P.S. He did go to the pub the next day, claim responsibility and pay for the window to be replaced but the pub owners had already contacted the police so a report had to be filed. That's his story anyway! ;-)

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134 Affidavit of support
I apologize if this topic question has already been asked and answered.

I am just wondering if the Montréal Consulate accepts a co sponsor when filing the affidavit of support for a K1 Visa?

If anyone can answer this question it will be greatly appreciated!
I did not know that consulates do not have to take a co sponsor affidavit of support into consideration if they do not want to.

Thank-you,

Melinda
