Vermont must be off of break, it is getting close to Friday

Well sure, I mean, when you've got weekend's off, Mondays for "meetings" I'm sure (aka, all-day lunch breaks), Tuesdays and Wednesdays for organizing the boxes by month (and picking out the expedites from those boxes, too), and Friday's at half day, you have to get work in sometime.
Maybe one or two of them worked on there file in the bathroom, thinking they grab the newspaper. It is hard to tell what them people up there are doing, but i just hope they keep cranking out the noa2

Okay, so, how sad is it that I'd actually welcome the bathroom approval?...

I too hope to be down there before Christmas.

1) We'll be driving down for the move, and I don't relish the idea of snow during our travel...
2) I will finally have a reason to go crazy with decorating (have to over-compensate for the lack of snow in FL!).

"Wow" your noa1 date is the same as mine, sure hope to see noa2 very soon, maybe we will see our the same day. Do anyone know how many k-1 filers there are at vermont for March? Let hope there is not many. Good luck

125, WOW, i wonder how many of people they have working on K-1s because we sure don't see anyone getting approved. The amount that has been approved is small and a long wait from VSC, I just can't seem to understand why they take so long. Vermont used to be faster the CSC but now are way behind. I no nothing about how to check all information on VSC, but alot of you people are a blessing. God bless

Igor's List - Vermont Service Center

It's under the Immigration Timelines link at the top of every page. Though honestly, it's not something you want to check on a regular basis, as it is thoroughly depressing.

Of members on VJ who have filled out their timeline, there are 125 entries for March at VSC.

On a slightly related topic, as I sit here and bang out report after report for work, I can't help but wonder what the average wpm is for each employee there.

When Ben came to visit me in Canada the first time, the border patrol actually called my cell to verify who he was/whether or not I was comfortable with him coming to visit me and stay with me before they would let him through. He didn't require any documentation outside of his return itinerary.

When I hopped over, though, for a two week stay (which I did extend to a three week stay, hehe), they gave me issues enough with my huge packet of information. It can be rather random with who they choose to wring through with the eighty questions... but better to be overly prepared and not have to use it than have him turned away. I'd bring whatever evidence you could possibly use as ties back to his country.

Haha that's what I do when I visit Chris, but I will be honest, I can quite happily sit at home alone most days and it doesn't bother me in the slightest, plus I just get on the computer if i'm feeling lonely and talk to my friends which thanks to WoW are not only in Australia but the US too smile.gif

Same here, being home doesn't bother me in the least. A billion e-books, American cable and WoW do the trick just fine. Not to mention that I've basically done the bulk of our paperwork on my own, so that keeps me busy gathering updated info when I'm visiting.

I think the trick may be to get my fiancee hooked on Warcraft!!! wink.gif

Also I haven't involved her too much in this USCIS nonsense.. sometimes I feel like she's better off not knowing all of the minutia.. although lately I've had to put her through some major CBP training (we practice all the time where I'm the border agent)! Hmm then again, if I can get her on Visajourney she could commiserate with you ladies during the day while I'm at work wink.gif

Noooo, as a fellow WoWer, I don't recommend passing along the addiction to anyone! Haha.

As the non-USC, I haven't involved him with much of the nonsense, outside of what I needed of his. If I even hint at something, he just huffs about how ridiculous it is... I laugh and tell him, that's fine, but we've still got to chug along with it.

That is what I have to do while my fiancee is visiting, and she is bored out of her mind because she doesn't know anyone here. We are thrilled to be able to be together but at the same time its sometimes hard to see the forest through the trees.

I'm not that lucky. crying.gif As some might already know, I'm a civil engineer and work as project manager for the government. I manage projects dealing with road, bridges and highways construction. Right now I'm in the middle between one ending project and the ext one which should begin around September or October.

Problem is that is at the beginning where 90% of the problems arise. So, needles to say, they would not let me go not even in a short vacation to see my angel because I already took them this past March when I went there to see her.

So I guess I have to wait this until the end. But hey....by this time next year we will be together God willing and I will be the happiest engineer in Puerto Rico. Count on it. biggrin.gif

PEACE my friends........

Same with my fiance. He's an electrician, and as one of the lead techs in his company, it's impossible for him to take off much work. This year he even pushed it an extra week, so we could spend time on our own down in FL. It's going to be a very difficult thing and likely involve a fair bit of grovelling for him to join me in Montreal for my interview, whenever that falls.

So when I go down to visit him now, he spends the day working, I get the lay of the land. At least our evenings are together, then.

Haha, that made me smile.

Good morning everyone. The coffee won't seem to combat the rain today.

I, too, am lucky enough where the company I currently work for is understanding enough to let me make semi-frequent visits (aka, two weeks every couple of months or so). Of course, part of this is probably due to the fact that this entire area is in a major decline, and any time I take off without pay means money they save, haha. So although it always seems to me that there are ages between our visits, I know others have it far worse than we do.

If my company were to let me go, however (which has been toyed with), I'd likely hop across the border for a couple of months and wait out the time until NOA2.

Middle of October? 3 more months wow! I'm dying right now wow.gif I really hope this is not true.
I've read that the USCIS call center has nothing to do with USCIS itself, they are in another building and they just read the answers from a book or something like that. So I wouldn't trust USCIS call center words.

They see what we see. When they put our number into the system, they see the same page as when we log into the Case Status website.

Vermont's processing schedule states that they are currently working on petitions from December 2008. That doesn't mean that cases in the months following haven't been touched, it simply means that they still have cases in their system from months further back. They are behind CSC, but they aren't that behind.

FYI to all April Filers - I called the USCIS today and they said that the best case scenario (assuming the application has no RFEs) for reviewing and approving petitions filed in April was 3 months from now (middle of October). She reiterated, as other people have already stated here, that they are focused on December applications at the moment.

Middle of October??? Grrrrrr!!!!!!!

SvenSki, if you add your timeline to VJ's database, it will not only allow you to view an estimation as to when your case will be approved, but also help in adding to the statistics used for the estimates of the rest of us. smile.gif

Eh.. I don't put 100% stock into that. Not saying that what you were told isn't true - I'm sure they are quite interested in getting those files out of the way as it reflects very poorly on them, but we've also seen approvals from March, April and even May without expedites. Who knows, we might see the random approval for a couple of us here.

I'm still not going to give up hope that some of us here will hear word by September.

Haha, Our internet downunder can be dodgy which drives me bonkers but there is no way I am sleeping at work, I'm a teacher, I try to get out of there ASAP!

We heard from the lawyer today!!!!! Woot!!!

He was right

Judge handed down a court order stating that USCIS must come to a conclusion with our case within 30days (which would be the 15th of June by my calculations) otherwise they will be in contempt of court and someone gets to head to the big house for a while.

So Chris has for the 3rd time put together our Package again and is fedexing it off to the Lawyer to give to USCIS tomorrow, hopefully they will have it sorted soon, I'm excited that we feel like we are moving, sad that they didn't just hand us the NOA2 though, however I think I can finally honestly say there might be a light at the end of the tunnel.

Our Lawyer plans to help push it through NVC and the Sydney Embassy too, so hopefully November will be home time for good, well shall see. On the positive it means on this trip we can prepare packet 3 and I can bring all that stuff home with me.

*hug*

That's such great news!

Whew, sounds like you guys found yourselves a real good lawyer. Lucky, lucky.

Very happy for you both. Soon, there will be a sigh of relief for you both, I'm sure.

I've never had formal training for my position, so I won't be missing out on much if I look for work outside the field. Although I enjoy the work, I don't enjoy any aspect of dealing with the customers.

It'll be a hobby that will keep my family's computers out of the repair shops, maybe something for a little cash on the side, but little else once I finally move.

Have you had training for another line of work?

Unfortunately this is my formal line of work so I'm busy studying away before I move to the US to try and give myself a chance in what will be a much tougher job market than up here in Canada.

No, I haven't. I began working in the cafe portion of the company while I was in highschool, then once I graduated, I was given the opportunity to stay on and work in the computer department while learning under the owner. I've since expanded my position to include web design (minorly, and only when absolutely necessary), network design, system administrator for our cafe network, and even bookkeeper. Basically a rabbit hole of work.

I was never a huge fan of school to begin with, though I aced my classes and graduated with honours. I just hated the environment.

Playing with options as to what I'll look into once I move.

Now that the time line dates for the NOA2 is being pushed into October, I'm realizing that Katelyn will be away in the UK for 3 months and I'm wondering if these is any paperwork I should get off her before she leaves home. I have the copy already made of everything I originally sent off - I know I'll need an updated letter of intent from her stating she still wants to proceed with the visa process but apart from that I don't know if I would need her signature on anything or any documents from her before she leaves?

She will be doing a lot of traveling and generally won't be in any one particular location for me to contact via mail if i should need her to sign. I figure if I prepare in advance then that won't be an issue!

Any advice would be appreciated!

Isn't this wait so much fun tongue.gif

Which of you is the USC?

If she is the USC, you will need an updated letter of intent, as you stated, and all of the documents that are needed to correspond with the I-134 that you will be taking with you to the interview in order to prove her ability to support you in the States. Any updated proof of ongoing relationship that you intend to bring along with you to the interview, if you already want to start organizing all of that, etc.

Outside of financial documentation, the legwork from here on out is on your end.

Thanks for the mention of the "military expedite" i just went to the USCIS website and did some reading about this matter. I plan to give them a call later today to see if we qualify. Hopefully, I'll get a positive answer.

I try not to think much about this whole thing as it only makes me sad. I decided today to logon here and see how things were coming along for other fellow VJer's and that's when I saw that an acquaintance of mine who had travelled to Africa in November '08, filed in December '08 (at the VSC) and now her honey's Visa was approved in June. Seems like it didn't take long for them at all. I feel like we've been waiting forever. I had talked to a USCIS Rep. back in April and they had told us that we could still file for a Tourist Visa while waiting but when my fiance' got his interview he was advised he could not get a Tourist Visa while waiting for a K-1 Visa and was told to just keep waiting. I had hoped that he would get the Tourist Visa so that we could vacation together in the States in August. So since his request for the Tourist visa was declined, I'm going home to Africa for vacation in August to be with him instead.

I had noticed that when I was completing the packet they had asked if I was serving in the military but I'm not military so I didn't check this box. However, I work as a contractor serving the U.S. military here in Iraq. I didn't list my overseas address because I didn't want any paperwork to get lost should something be mailed to me, and I'm glad I didn't list my APO address now because I just got transferred from Southern Iraq to Baghdad on June 20. Things change so much around here, that's why I keep all my mail coming to my address in the States and just keep in touch with my kids as to whether I've received any important mail.

Although I'm not an actual military service member, I still plan to ask the question because I support every branch of our U.S. troops and am in harms way just as they are (i.e., motar attacks). It's worth asking

Thanks again for replying and for your feedback.

Unfortunately, I know little about it so I can't be of much use in that department, outside knowing that such a thing does exist. Hopefully it can be of some use to you and your loved one.

It is unfortunate that you're stuck at VSC with the rest of us, haha. kicking.gif

It took 9 more months from that point till we meet, and till I flew to to the USA on my own. I'll admit after 32 hours in transit (brisbane to LA, 8 a half hours in LA, and then onto DC) I was so tired, and lost as all hell. Washington Dulles is a horrible airport to go to, and they couldnt even get us to an airbridge so we disembarked in the cold at midnight and had to be bussed to the terminal. When I got in the actually terminal I missed seeing Chris waiting at the gate as I was shunted down with everyone else to baggage claim.

Chris called, fearing i had gotten lost as he hadn't seen me come through with everyone else and then managed to walk the longest way around the baggage claim without seeing me, it took me calling out "Not even going to say hello then?" for him to notice me and for our first hug, twas amazing really how a simple hug can be so special, especially after what was 15 months of knowing each other as characters in a game. It took an hour to drive back to DC after I got off the plane, and Ill admit the first thing i did there was shower, but after that we spent 4 hours just sitting together on the couch talking and hugging, and stupidly working up the nerve of that first kiss (isn't odd you can be shy about that when you had already admitted that you loved the person lol), even though I had been awake for almost 40 hours at this point it was still amazing.

I guess we were lucky though, I had just finished Uni the week before (in October) and wasn't starting my new job till January the following year in England, so we spent 2 and half months together and lived a lot of life (weddings, travel and sadly a funeral) truly like we had been together from the day we meet. It was amazing, I have been there so many times now that with him, in DC feels like home, and oddly enough I get more home sick in Australia then I do in DC. Perhaps "home is where the heart is" really is a very true statement.

Our first meeting in person was a good four years after having met on WoW. Our intentions during that time were obviously not the same throughout those fours years, but it was one of those lingering friendships that eventually hit the perfect time where both of us were unattached and willing to admit that we were interested in one another.

And it was so very odd indeed to work up the nerve to kiss one another! Haha. It was actually I who kissed him first... and I even did it in a sort of huff, as I recall. He was paying attention to the movie we were watching at the time, and I simply tapped him on the shoulder, surprised him, placed a good ol' kiss on his lips and then asked if he had intended on going through the entire visit without even trying to make a move! Needless to say, that got the ball rolling, hehe.

Hello fellow VJer's, (I had posted this before but realized I posted in wrong place)

I just wanted to join the April 2009 K-1 Filers. I submitted the paperwork for my fiance on April 1, it was received on April 14, and I received NOA on April 16. I keep feeling as though I'm missing an important piece of information regarding this entire process because everytime I log on to the U.S. Immigration website to check our online status there has been no change just the same old message "received and pending". This is normal right? I mean it can be months before our package even gets touched right? If anyone has any additional advice for me I'd surely appreciate it. Thank you.

At the moment I am working abroad in Iraq supporting our U.S. Military troops and my contract ends in November 2009, so I'm praying that we will have SOME word of even something before then. The only joy I have about this entire thing is that my job affords me a vacation every 4 months (since I work 7 days a week/12 hours a day) allowing me the opportunity to see my love. I touched him for the first time in person March 2009, and will be going back August 2009. Now if only there was word of some kind of action being taken concerning the status of his Visa it would be wonderful.

Good luck to everyone who's holding on.

Hi, welcome to the April filers! kicking.gif

Far as touches go online... outside of our initial NOA1, perhaps maybe a few days following, I don't believe any of us here have seen anything else on our status online. A lot of folks don't even see word of their NOA2 until it's sitting in their mailbox at home. It doesn't seem as if all case workers are as diligent in filing the status online these days, so it's really not a concern.

Were you eligible for military expedite?

Mine was actually tough. My parents were supposed to drive me across the border to pick him up at the airport (as I couldn't figure out where to go in Michigan for the life of me, and it was $800 cheaper to fly into Detroit than into Windsor), but there were issues at the border, so he had to take a shuttle across the border from the airport to a hotel in Windsor.

Most nerve-wracking time of my life!

And then, when he stepped out of the car... my heart just stopped. I smiled the biggest, goofiest smile I ever have to match his and embraced him tighter than I ever have anyone in my life. And of course, this being the first weekend in December, the poor boy was soooo cold! I remember one of the first things I said to him was giving him heck for only wearing a sweater when I told him we had snow on the ground, haha.

So, it started out stressful, but it went reaaaaally well from there. And to make it even better, it was actually a good three months sooner than we had expected to meet. We thought we would have to wait until the following February, when he his vacation time would be coming up... but a week beforehand, I made some joking comment that he should come out for the weekend and see the snow and me... and he booked plane tickets to do just that.

At least in Romania is through a window. That's why I changed from the binder approach to the individual folders inside that briefcase. Whatever the CO asks for is ready to pass through the window.

PEACE my friends..........

Ack, well wouldn't you know...

I've spent so much time focusing on the paperwork itself, I didn't even do enough research to see how the silly papers are handed to the CO. Through simple skimming over the reviews, I've only caught the "CO looked over our pictures, paperwork, asked about such and such.." routine. I never paid attention to what and where!

Thank you so much, everyone... I guess I'm going to have to look at my organization now. Oi.

Guess it's time for me to do more research into the interview itself... I was under the impression that the interview was in an actual office, with our interview requirements (vaccinations, medical results, interview letter, passport, passport photos, and fee) being handled prior to that, during the waiting period.

Definitely time to look that information up!

Edit: Er, then again, I'm speaking of my own Consulate. It could very well be different for different countries.

That's what I started out with while compiling evidence for the package itself. But it was smaller and just didn't suit once I started adding evidence post-package.

So I bought about a million sheet protectors and that binder, and that's been working for me now. Each page in there is a sheet protector, organized by trip, type of evidence, etc... Our package is in there too, and all of my research post-visa as well.

Though now it's getting crowded, and I may have to get a second binder for all of the post-visa stuff, as I don't want to take that to the interview with me anyhow.

its a shame a big binder that is well organized wont fit through the slot in the window for the interview.

Erm, guess I require some explaining with that there. What window?

I was under the impression that the only things that go through the initial window (prior to the interview itself) was my medical stuff, passport, interview letter, etc. Why would all of my evidence, etc, be given beforehand?

Out of curiosity, what's everyone organizing their paperwork with? I'm wondering if I'm the only crazy one here.

Only the top binder is paperwork... the bottom one is CDs. (I'm not that OCD.)

So figured I would kick things off for an April filers group, since I couldn't find one smile.gif

Please come and join me, hopefully this time we will be successful.....

We sent our I-129-F in the 3rd week of April to the California Service Center. Our NOA1 date I think is May 1. I have a question for anyone who might know. Of course most of the time our files are just sitting there, but when someone there does something with the file they scan it in the computer and it is called a "touch" correct? Well, this last Thursday and Friday our file was "touched." I am wondering if that means that they are processing our application? I sure hope so....if so, it is a whole month ahead of schedule. Wow!!

Welcome to the April filers!

A touch can happen at any time - whether processing the application, or simply switching hands. The file is supposed to be scanned each time it is moved so that they have track of it in their systems.

Having said that, anymore a lot of folks aren't seeing anything on the online tracking system past their NOA1 - they don't even know about their NOA2 until the hard copy shows up in the mail, so it is truly hard to say.

I got a phone call from Chris (who sounds so terrible because half his face was numb lol) but apparently the lawyer called whilst he was have the mini-op and left a voicemail.

It said the following:

"We have been successful"

Apparently he was very excited in the msg, but didn't elaborate on what Successful was, so I too am biting nails to see just what our success was.....

Will update when I get more news...

I'm so happy to hear that! yes.gif

Yeah, mine's been sitting there for a couple of days now. Yay.

Funny thing is, I remember how distressed I became when my timeline first dipped into September. Haha.

Originally, we discussed it both ways. We played with the idea of him coming to stay here, but that wasn't a long discussion.

In the end, logic won out - he has a well-paying position at a large company, I have a minimum wage job that only supports my living with my parents, and isn't stable in the least. It wouldn't been much harder to try to create a life for us here than down there with his family.

There were other things involved too... He's a big city guy, always has been. From Cleveland to Orlando, my city would've felt like hick-ville. Heck, a lot of the time it even gets to me. I could certainly see myself in the city; though it would take some getting used to, I'm certainly not a small-town gal. Also, the ease of living with his family, the connections that would enable me to find a job fairly easily, etc... all in all, it just seemed like it was the better way to go.

And, there was definitely more of a hesitation on his end to move. There was certainly less of one on my own end, as I have to real draw to this area, outside of my parents. That will be hard, but doable.

So at the end we agreed on her moving here. I know is a big decision for her and I swear in front of God that I will make it up for her. I will make her the happiest woman in this planet. yes.gif

That made me smile. She sure is a lucky woman.

Good luck to you guys! Hopefully all goes well, and we'll get to hear good news from you before the weekend is through!

So, I returned to work this Monday, after having spent three weeks down in Florida. Two days after returning, my boss and his wife left for their three week vacation, so I am stuck here with no one to interact with and nothing to distract me! Not pleasant.

So... in an effort to keep the thread alive, I will pose a question to everyone here.

What led up to the decision that you beneficiaries would be the ones relocating to reside with your future spouse? Why not the other way around?
