CanadaHow Long ? Geez!

Hi, thank you for replying and posting your story.

Believe me I hope it's not a long road for anyone, I think that these rules and policies are a joke. In any case, after I've sent my documents, refusal letter and passport, I didn't get a single letter from either the consulate in Montreal nor DC. The only thing I have is a UPS signature by the receptionist. Who know if its even at the right place. DOS just today confirmed that they did receive them and my case is in AP status but for all I care that could be the same status since I left the interview.

Good luck to you in your journey, keep us posted though here... I will do the same.

By the way, do you recall the website you went to check your status and what numberdid you use the USCIS case number or the MTL case number? Let me know I'd like to see and check my status on there, see if I can gather any more info. A URL would help a lot.

Thank you!

The only thing i did was email the MTL consulate a couple of times, (trying to follow there rules - they say not to email multiple times and that it takes two weeks or so to get a response) I emailed a couple of times though and they sent back a email stating that the documents had been received. But the time between getting that email and them actually inputting it into the computer took about a month. So you are at about the same stage. The number i called was the DOS one ( you would think I would know this off by heart) the number that I used for reference was the number on the piece of paper the guy behind the glass gave us with the required information needed. So I gather that would be the MTL case number.

sorry that is not much help,

CanadaHow Long ? Geez!
I had read this whole post and thought I might have seen someone who had gone thru the same situation and had received their visa from MTL, so we all have an idea of some time frame, but nothing. I am in the same boat. Had our interview, on April 7th they required a notorized letter from my exhusband, sent this Canada Post, consulate received april 10, (canada post lost it). Received a confirmation letter from the Washington office stating they had received the documents - dated april 30. My status had changed on the computor to received required documentation and processing information (something like that - not quite sure of correct wording, just know that it had changed from pending to this) and here we sit. Our passports are with the consulate and we are sitting here waiting (tried to get my lawyer involved but she was of no help, she added fuel to the fire stating that it is possible that they are holding things up because my son has since turned 16 and now is going to need a RCMP report) which would then in turn put date sensitive material expired, which in turn would mean we would have to send this all in and wait another 3 to 4 months.

so if there is anyone that has been in a similiar situation and any of us and have a time frame that might ease our stress that would be wonderful.

I really do hope Catbones gets over soon, the stress of this is one thing but the stress of being a new parent is quite another and to combine the two.

hopefully someone has some information

CanadaPOEing soon...
just wanted to pipe in and say good luck. We crossed over the Ambassador bridge and if it weren't a Saturday (as the border patrol had stated) we would probably have only been an hour. I had lists of everything and the border patrol did not look at any of it. I am thinking because we had everything so organized and ready for them. I did pay the $6.00 although the border patrol almost forgot to ask for it).
be patient and enjoy the experience.

CanadaHas anyone processed a K-1 visa at the Windsor/Detroit tunnel?
not much help here, but i crossed at the ambassador bridge and they were extremely helpful. (even though they said crossing over on a saturday was probably the worst day to cross because they are so busy) The border patrol person who was at the booth actually seemed excited and extremely helpful. Inside they were apologetic for the wait because of how busy they were. I am sorry I can not help with the tunnel, but I tried very hard to stay away from there because they always seemed to power trip.
Congratulations by the way.

CanadaIs it just me, or is this kind of overwhelming?
and that is why I love this site. Everyone is so helpful and full of encouragement and information. It really helps having people who have been thru this experience and are willing to share to make it seem painless (somewhat)

Have a wonderful relaxing wedding. Know that when you start the process of gathering everything for the AOS that you have the people at visajourney.com to rely on. I would not have gotten thru any of this process thus far - still somewhat intact - if it was not for the help of everyone here.

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussionfees to include with I-751
I have not been here for a bit (ok two years). Everyone on VJ was so helpful so I thought maybe I could get some answers for filling out the I-751. I was reading and it said that I could include my son who came over with me on a K2 visa and that I would only need to send in payment for one of us. Just wanted to make sure that this was correct. I want to make sure that it goes somewhat smoothly.

Thank you

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionJanuary 2013 ROC, gather up!!!

Hi there. I sent my packet last week and USCIS received it 2 days after. I just used USPS Priority Mail with tracking information. And also please join us in the January '13 ROC filers thread. Just click on this link

http://www.visajourn...ry-filers-2013/

Goodluck!

Thank you, I ended up reading the whole guidelines and finally found it (I guess if I had looked a little harder then I would have found it lol) I just knew that if I asked somebody always knows. I am very thankful for this site and used it (I wish I had when I first started and I would have saved us a couple of thousand dollars)

thank you again,

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTeenage child at interview

Probably ask him how he feels about moving to the US, how he feels about your fiance, what he thinks of your relationship. Basic stuff, nothing to sweat.

I had a B2 interview at 12 and a F-1 at 18.

thank you, just to give him an idea or what to expect, (hmmm now I should be worried lol) - acutally he has a really good relationship with my fiance, we go ever weekend to see him, so he has had lots of time to form a relationship.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTeenage child at interview
We have our interview on April 7 and in the letter received it stated that my son who is 15 had to come as well. (lawyer never stated this) so I was wondering if anyone else has been through this and if they could give me some type of idea of what or even if they talked to him/her. My son is getting anxious and I would like to give him some idea (the sme way this forum has given me) of what is going to happen at the interview. Just a kind of heads up to make him a little more comfortable.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedureshotel review in montreal
Just a quick quesiton, I have to book a hotel for our interview trip and have been reading up on some of the hotels in and around the consulate. I was just wondering if anyone has stayed at the tour centre ville. The reveiws are extremely mixed. Actually there are a couple of them that complain of bugs, so I thought maybe somebody here might give me some insight on hotels. We have a 10.5 hour drive there so we were hopeing for some comfort. We are travelling with a 15 year old, so we would like something with food around it. but mainly clean, moderatley priced, (nothing to pricey though and also parking. The reviews fo the tour centre ville, state the parking is a couple blocks away also. Kind of defeats the purpose of being close to the consulate.

Any thoughts or reviews,

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDocuments for child relocating
I was just wondering - after reading a post from another VJ member about documentation for my son. It had stated that I need a a copy of the passport or some other govn't document of his father. Now i have my divorce judgement papers that state I hvae sole custody and also a notorized court order or settlement showing that he has been notified of the move and that he will not be fighting it. should this be sufficeient. We are going for our interview in a week and a half and I want to make sure I have absolutely everything so that we have a postive outcome.

If anyone has an answer that would greatly appreciated.

thank you,

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresbiographic page in passport
 Ok really stupid question but I am going over everything again (for probably the
100th time) to make sure I have everything. Lawyer really has not told me anything, if it was
not for this site I would be going in blind.
I just have one really stupid quesion and that is they are asking for a copy of the biographic
page of your passport. Is that the page (the only one that has informaiton on it) with the
picutre and passport number and information?

I know it is lame but I am going thru everything with a fine tooth comb ( I would like to come
out of the interview with a really big smile)

hopefully somebody can let me know quickly, we leave tommorow for the interview and today I
have access to a printer.

thank you
