Sorry to hear that Vero. Try not to worry too much. I have had outdoor/indoor cats and they would go missing for a week and then just show up at the door. I am sure he is fine and just staying away for a little bit. If hes not back in a week or so, then I'd start to worry. Hang in there *hug*

No I'm not going to go to the SSN office. I think it should be fine. If I get anything else with this problem then I'll go to the SSN office. I have used my SS number for Chris' insurance and a few other things and nothing else has came up with this type of thing. I think she may have typed in a wrong number or something.
mandaNchrisFemaleCanada2011-03-12 16:25:00
CanadaAugust Interviews Crew - AOS Journey
That puppy is so darn cute!

Well the lady at the bank didnt really say much. She asked to see my SS card and said shes making a photocopy of it to prove she seen it. She said she just had to see who issued it. I was like ummm hello the Social Security place did, how else would I get one. Anyways she said it should be fine. So heres to hoping shes right.

We mailed off our AOS this afternoon. We couldnt find a UPS place or a fedex, so we just sent it through USPS. It should be on its way. woohoo!

Yeah we are going there tomorrow to see what is going on. We are hoping that they just keyed in the wrong number or something. Still is scary tho.

Ok so get this. Our bank called Chris and told him we need to come in to talk with them because there is something wrong with my SSN. Apparently they do random checks on SSN's and mine came up belonging to someone who died in 1984 or 80 something anyways. I was like how in the world did that happen?!?! Now I am freaked out because what if I have to get it changed. How am I gonna be able to send in my AOS? How am I even going to be able to get it changed when my I-94 is expired :bonk:

Congrats Vero

So I have a question. If we send our AOS through UPS is that a courier? or the same as USPS? I am trying to figure out if we should be sending it to the PO box or to the other address.
mandaNchrisFemaleCanada2011-03-10 13:27:00
CanadaAugust Interviews Crew - AOS Journey
No the AP is free when sent in with AOS so it wouldnt be anything extra. I just feel like because we waited so long to send in our AOS stuff that they would be raising an eyebrow as to why it suddenly matters if I can go to Canada in case of an emergency. Maybe I am over thinking everything.
mandaNchrisFemaleCanada2011-03-07 16:09:00
CanadaAugust Interviews Crew - AOS Journey
We are sending in our AOS I promise lol We have just been really slow making sure we have all the right stuff and right forms. I'm not going to apply for AP. I figure it was pointless. We were supposed to get my photos last weekend but we forgot about them because of our son's birthday. This weekend we couldnt go get them because we were busy friday packing for our son to go visit Canada for two weeks. Saturday we drove (left at 8 am and got there at 4pm) to the KY/Ohio boarder to meet up with my sister, brother in law, nephew, aunt and her new baby (hes 3 months old and this is my first time meeting him), we had dinner with them and visited for about 2 hours. We got back home at 2am. boy was that a long trip. Three hours after leaving home I realized that I forgot our son's passport. I was so mad at myself. Luckily I still had his Canadian birth certificate in my purse, so I gave that to my sister to use to get him across. She said the boarder guy seemed confused as to what relation everyone in the car had to each other and that he asked my three year old how long he we going to be in Canada and when he was going to see mommy and daddy again. My son told him "no, I dont wanna" lol They made it through and he is now in Canada. We plan on express posting our son's passport and a note saying we are expecting our son back on the 19th to my sister but are worried about sending something that important through the mail. I am so mad at myself for forgetting his passport.

So I plan on getting our AOS sent out this week. It is a goal of mine. I need this to be done with lol. I want to go tomorrow to get my pictures done but then that means I'll have to go to work with Chris and it is so boring there. So maybe I'll wait till friday when Chris has the day off. We'll see how it goes. Our AOS will be sent off no later then friday tho.

Congrats Tater&####### on your approval! Thanks for the review also. I hope ours goes that smoothly. Well actually I hope we get lucky like J&J and dont have to go for an interview lol Anyways congrats again.

I received my Green card on the 19th. I'm so glad it's here.
After receiving it, I went for my drivers license. Apparently I have to pass a physical driving test? I thought I was done with all of that );

Things are coming together! My husband and I are in the midst of moving, so I won't be on VJ for a while. Best of luck on your interview Vero!!!!!!

Congrats on getting your green card. Good luck on your driving test. I am studying for my drivers license right now. I've never had a drivers license before so I have to do the written test and driving test when I go for it.

Have a happy move! I hope its stress free.

Lol, it's crazy anyways! How many "real" birthdays as he had? He's young still right? Anyways, enjoy the family time on Saturday!

Next year will be his first real birthday. He is turning three on Monday. Hes still my baby. (L)

lol He is very special to me. Thank you for the happy birthday to him. He was a planned C-section, so we cheated lol. I didnt want him born on the 29th but Chris did, I gave in and said ok. By that time I was very sore and wanted him out anyways. He was 3 weeks early.

We got all our copies made and I will be typing up our cover letter and the letter for AP saying why I want it today. We are going to get the pictures on Friday, Then it will be ready to send out on Monday.... hopefully lol

Our sons birthday is on Monday (sort of, his B-day is actually the 29th), so we are having Chris' Mom and step father over for dinner and cake on Saturday.

Katrina got her green card today! So no worrying about her AP still being valid when we come back from Canada after the holidays.

At first when I went through the mail I didn't think it had come--no normal USCIS envelopes that everything else has come in but it was in a larger priority mail envelope.

thats great! Congrats. One less thing to worry about for you guys :)

Received my EAD card today!
Guess I have to start looking for a job! No more housewife-ing for me! (I'm secretly going to miss it though!!!)

Congrats. Good luck job hunting

Happy Holidays everyone. I think we are waiting until after the holidays now to send in our AOS package. I figure there is no point in sending it in now. I am very excited for Christmas. Waking up in the morning with my two year old son and husband to watch our sons amazement at the gifts under the tree. It is going to be our first Christmas with just the three of us. :luv:

There was a number on the letter to call for emergencies.

But it looks like I am getting out in the next couple hours so everything should be ok.

No diagnosis though.

Glad they are letting you out today. You can make your interview now, if you are feeling up to it. Good luck with everything.

Good Luck Nickbits. I hope you are alright and are able to go to your interview on Monday.

So I just want to make sure about this. When filling out the AOS papers, can I apply under my married name even tho I dont have any ID or anything in my married name yet?? I plan on changing everything over to my married name when I can.

Well the test they were waiting for came back negative so they are going to do the brain biopsy today. But I won't get the results of that until Friday.

Wow how scary Nickbits, I hope they find out its nothing too serious and it can be taken care of easily. Good luck. Wishing you the best. Stay positive!

This really isn't too relevant to this thread but I wanted to let my VJ friends know what's going on. I was taken to the er and admitted into the hospital last night for a seizure. I've never had one before and it really freaked my wife out. I'm waiting for some more tests right now as the first batch was inconclusive.

Moral of the story: don't cheap out on health insurance. I can only imagine the bill will be around 10k and I really wouldn't want to have to pay that myself.

So sorry to hear this. I hope you are alright.

I know! I was so depressed when I was assembling the package... Isn't it enough that I moved here, from a wealthy country -with affordable healthcare!- away from my family and friends? I know it's worth it, don't get me wrong, I just wished it was a little bit different... And then, we might have to go through another interview? I mean, c'mon!!!
Hey, but I'm not complaining! :innocent:

Yep exactly. What a waste of time. Oh well just something we have to put up with.

I really dont understand why they make us do all this stuff again. Once wasnt enough??? Do they really think we are going to change our answers? lol Silly old Gov. repeating themselves over and over again. :bonk:

Good to see everything is going well for everyone. We are about to start filling out the AOS papers and hopefully send them in soon. We havent even sent in our marriage certificate yet. Dang holidays lol Chris was supposed to mail it yesterday on his way to work but I dont think he did. He went to the bank and cashed the checks we got from our wedding. The ladies at the bank all ran up to him and gave him a hug and said congrats on getting married. They have known him sense he was a baby. Thanksgiving was great. We had a smoked turkey. First time for me. It was very good. My older sister, brother in law, nieces and nephew stayed for thanksgiving dinner. Then they left around 7pm and took my son back to Canada with them. He doesnt seem to miss me. My sister had to bribe him to talk to me lol. He'll be home on Dec. 4th. I miss him lots. The wedding went really well. Its nice seeing that ring on Chris' finger <3 I am sure I'll be back soon with questions about these papers. I am not looking forward to this stuff.

I can't have an MRI done anyways because I have screws in my knee. So no worries there haha. The earring can be taken out, we just have been unsuccessful and I don't trust my husband with pliers in my ear (we tried that and it was terrifying). I just need to go to a professional. It was screwed in too well haha once it's out the changeable earrings are easy. It's just the still one I had it pierced with.

that sucks about your knee. I probably wouldnt trust my fiance either. Its scary to let people do things that you know might end up hurting you. Glad that they didnt make you take that one out.

Good news for me, my sister got her van fixed and is able to come to the wedding. I am so happy. I think our minister is doing good too. He told my step mother inlaw to have us call him so we can talk about the rehearsal and wedding vows we want. Looks like its all coming together now finally. My younger sister and her fiance will be here tomorrow night. I cant wait to see her.

... and one last post in this favorite thread of mine while I am here haha... biometrics appointment was as easy as pie of course. They aren't kidding when they say it takes 5 mins. Drove over an hour to get there to pay for parking which put a whole 0.50c hole in my pocket LOL. The only weird thing is they make you take all your earrings out. One of mine (tragus, little piece of the ear that is technically part of your face) doesn't come out so I had a moment of panic but the girl said it's no big deal. She was the same age as me about (25) and had the same glasses. Pretty weird!

As for my case status. Last updates on AOS and EAD were on the 9th obv, and AP was last touched on the 22nd of Oct, which was when my notice was mailed out I think. I have a friend who lives near me from Russia who is going through the same thing and filed in Sept. She has her interview for early Dec in Buffaol (weird because thats not this areas office) and has no results about her EAD or AP. I really hope I get my AP before Christmas to I can go hope, and my EAD so I can get EI and start looking for work and get more money for prezzies. My husband as leave in Jan and we were hoping to take our honeymoon then since they didn't let him take time off after the wedding.

Good to hear that the biometrics is easy. I wonder why they make you take out your earrings. I will be sure to leave mine at home sense they do this. I dont want to lose them. I've never heard of that type of piercing before. What if you have to have an MRI or something and cant have any metal in your body??? Can it be removed for that??
mandaNchrisFemaleCanada2010-11-14 22:10:00
CanadaAugust Interviews Crew - AOS Journey

I believe the $1010 covers AOS, EAD and AP (and biometrics of course). It's what I submitted and I never got a RFE for it (they are usually quick on that hehe)

I know the feeling! Hopefully she can just rent a car and come to the wedding... it's a pretty simple choice to make to me but I don't know the situation. Everything before the wedding can and will get so crazy. The most important thing is to not let yourself stress out and delegate what you can with who you trust. As much as it sucks now it's all part of the experience and the moment the wedding begins you'll forget all about it!

She cant afford to rent a car but hopefully my aunt will bring her when she comes up for the wedding. I'm not sure what day my Aunt and Uncle are coming up, so my sister and everyone might miss the rehearsal for the wedding. That would be fine tho. As long as they make it here for the wedding. My fiance would go pick them up if we had a car big enough to fit everyone but we dont :( not that he can take any more time off work anyways but still if he could we would go get them. My soon to be mother inlaw has been helping a lot with the wedding, she has really been there for me and I am so thankful for her. I know on my wedding everything will be good, just getting to that part is stressful lol

Wow, mandaNchris, that's quite the nightmare! It almost sounds like a Hollywood movie scenario!!! Hopefully everything will work out fine!

hmm maybe I should write a story about it and get it turned into a movie lol That would be lovely haha I'm sure we will figure something out. Just dont have much time sense the wedding is on the 20th.
