Awww... A whole week off, that's awesome!!! You get to start 2012 just right!!! How's the car doing?

We're going to look at 4 houses tomorrow afternoon, it's turning out to be an every weekend type of deal... Wish us luck!

Happy New Year everyone!

The car is doing great now. Just need a new paint job and the AC fixed and it will be perfect lol Chris was able to bypass the sensor for the AC that's bad so we do have AC, so not too worried about it.

Ohhh house hunting! That sounds exciting. I hope you find your perfect home. Don't settle for something you don't really want. We did and now I wish we hadn't.

I hope you had a great new year.

Hi everyone!
I hope ya'll had a great Christmas! Ours was great; one of my brother and his family came down, it was nice to be with family and speak French! Which I'm loosing by the way, and I'm freaking out!!! But that's another story...

I want to wish you all a happy New Year! Best wishes for 2012, all the love and happiness you deserve!

Our Christmas was great. We actually had to wake Alex up Christmas morning at 10:30 to open his gifts. Chris' mom and step dad were supposed to be over at noon but they ended up being late. Good thing though since we got a late start anyways. We had ham, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, biscuits and Chicken nuggets (Chris made them for me and his mom because we don't like ham). It was so good.

I'm glad you had a great Christmas and you got to see some of your family. That must have made it so special. :) You should just start walking around speaking french randomly so you don't lose it lol I'm sure you'd get a lot of funny looks but it would be funny. You could have lots of fun with it ;) Don't freak out too much, just remember to breathe and everything will work out.

Have a great new year Vero and everyone else! Our new year will be great because Chris took the first week of 2012 off :D Gonna relax at home and enjoy being with each other.

I agree it doesn't feel like Christmas without snow :( I don't miss the cold but I do miss snow. This time of year we use our wood stove at night when it gets in the 30s. Then it runs us out of the house with how hot it gets lol. I am excited for Christmas morning watching Alex unwrap his gifts. We got him an aquarium for Christmas. He knows about it but hasn't seen it set up yet. We've been keeping a box around it. He is really excited to see it and get some fish. We already got some Glo fish and penguin tetras but he doesn't know that hehe.

I hope everyone has a very merry Christmas and a happy new year. Anyone going back to Canada for Christmas this year?

Oh no... No water for a week!!! That's insane!!! I would have gone crazy J&J!!! Sorry about how busy you got! And so true, a simple card is all I need!

Well, it was great being off, I slept in, relaxed, didn't even cook! It was the best. I'm telling you though, going back to work was a pain... Sunday night I realized "oh right, I work now!"... And this week has been horrible, I've been cranky all week, I miss being at home! Hahahaha!

Oh well, enough complaining, take care you guys, happy Holiday Season!

lol When your not working you miss it but when you are working you miss having free time. Can't win eh. I hope this week will be better then last. Glad you had a great four days off. No cooking eh? Wow that would be nice.

Well, It ended up being pretty simple, we made each other a card. We had too much excitement around here to be able to have time to make something more Crazy..lol Our house pipes bursted on us, so we didn't have any water for about a week. We both worked on it on our anniversary and the week of... Which I didn't mind because we just wanted WATER. It's been pretty Crazy busy, with Thanksgiving and now Christmas around the corner. Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the holiday season and hopefully no more bursted pipes...:)

A simple card can be just as sweet and sentimental as something elaborate. Sorry you had such a busy couple of weeks. I hope you can relax now until Christmas time.

Vero how was your four days off? I hope you had a good Thanksgiving.

Thanks J&J. Chris had to work on our anniversary so it was good lol How was your anniversary? What did you end up making for your hubby??

That's great! Are you in a rural part of Georgia or close to a big city? It might be fun to have something part time when you are ready. I know that even though it took a while to find work, I did enjoy that time on my own.

We live on the outskirts of a small city. Our road has a lot of woods with a few house mixed in. Our neighbors are close enough but not too close. It's really nice except no kids around for my son to play with. I think it will be nice to get out and meet new people and I know a job will do that for me. I just worry because I have back and muscle problems that it will be hard to find a job that doesn't leave me in a lot of pain at the end of the day. Need to get my license before I can get a job though. I still haven't changed my SS card into my married name. Gotta get that done soon. Five more days and it will be our one year anniversary  we made it a year without a divorce

Nice to hear from you J&J! Well, I gave Christopher a card for our 1 year anniversary, that's paper, that should count, right? Hahahaha Jokes aside, Happy Anniversary!!!

Nice! You're husband is a mechanic!!! Gosh, you're in for a life time of saving money!!!

It's crazy how getting a job and meeting people outside Chris' family has made such an impact on how I feel about living here. I'm so happy, it was all well worth it!

lol Yeah I married him because he knows how to fix cars ;) lol

Aww! I'm so happy that you are enjoying living there now. Meeting new people and having friends can be very helpful. I'm trying to decide if I want to work part time when our son starts school or not just for interaction with new people. I still know no one here other then Chris' family. On a good note though his sister that I am close to just moved back to Georgia from Texas this weekend so I'll have someone to hang out with again :)

Well I'll just hand them my green card next time then but I will always have my passport with me anyways just in case. Glad you had a good trip J&J. I wish I was crafty like you lol I bet whatever you make is going to be great. Will you post a picture of it when your done and he has opened it? If it's too personal never mind :)

Canadasort of new here
Thanks everyone :) We will try to print it off without uploading the pic. I'll let you guys know if I figure it out lol. I will make sure I bring an extra picture.

We are having a very nice visit. Alex and I are having a lot of one on one time because here we are the only ones home while Chris is at work. My house in Canada, we are almost always never alone because I live with my sister, brother inlaw and their three kids. Plus my mom and Step father live in the apartment below us. So yeah someone is always around lol. Been doing a lot of visiting with Chris' family.

It has really hit home visiting this time how much I am going to miss my family once I move. I feel the worst about moving away from my nieces and nephew. They are very attached to me, I've been like a mom to them all their lives. They called the other day crying because they missed Alex and I and were upset cause soon we would be leaving them for good. It broke my heart. Sometimes immigrating sucks!

Yes Chris sent in his petition for me in Oct. I have received my packet three a couple weeks ago but I am in the U.S. right now visiting him. So its been a bit hard to fill out the forms when he doesnt have a printer that works. My sister emailed me the papers I got in my packet three. We apparently need a photo uploaded on one of the forms and we dont have one. We are going to go get a passport picture taken here and scanning it onto the computer. hopefully that will work. That cant be done till tomorrow tho because Chris is at work. He only has Fridays and Saturdays off. Hopefully we will get the forms sent back to montreal and then have our interview date not too long after they receive it.

Hi everyone, This is Amanda, My fiance Chris had made a vj name a little bit ago and both of us were using it but I thought I would make my own name so people dont get confused about who they are talking to or getting question from or answers from. So I am the Canadian and Chris is the American. Chris' name is chrisNmanda.... how clever eh??? lol Anyways, Thank you everyone who has helped us so far and from now on only Chris will be using that other name. I am more social then he is, so you'll probably see more of me then him.

CanadaDS-160 problems
We are trying to finish the forms for my packet 3 to be sent back to montreal but the form DS-160 is giving me a headache with it wanting a picture. We dont have any that fit what it says it wants. on my sheet that tells me what forms i have to send back it says i also need a "confirmation receipt regrading Form DS-160" we have filled out all the info and without uploading a pic you cant click on the next button. we went to preview and printed the info off there but we arent getting a confirmation receipt..... I'm just wondering what exactly are they talking about when they say "confirmation receipt"? and when we print out the forms through the preview does it have all the questions it asked you about?? I think it does but i couldnt really tell.

Sorry if someone has asked this before and I know i had mentioned the picture thing before but still not working like I thought it would. thank you anyone who can help with this

Canadajust want to make sure
Hi on one of the forms... I cant remember which one right now, It asks for your case number..... Well i was just wondering which one they are asking for. The one we got to start with or the one with MTL on it??? I believe we put the MTL one on the form and I just want to make sure that is right before I send my packet 3 back.

Also thanx for your reply LiLMermaid. :)
mandaNchrisFemaleCanada2010-03-25 16:28:00
Canadajust want to make sure

Not stupid and understandable that you want to be sure.

As far as the police check, I went to my local RCMP in Kitchener and got a Canada wide name search. It has been a few years, I know they will give you a form to fill out and as I filled it out they ran the check, I paid my money and they gave me my paper. So no you don't need one from Sarnia as the one you get will cover Canada (unless they have changed it in the last 3 years in which case I am sure someone else will chime in).

Thanx thats great to know. I dont travel to Sarnia very often anymore, so it'll be nice not to have to go there.

any idea about weather or not we have to send in all the documents with the packet 3 or just bring them to the interview??? I was thinking from things I read on here before that they wouldnt need to be sent in right now but sense the paper said "the following documents must be sent in" I am slightly confused now. it doesnt take much to confuse me lol

On the form DS-156k it says "the following documents must be attached in order to apply for a fiance nonimmigrant visa"

I was wondering the same thing. Do we send them in or wait to bring them into the interview?

If you find out mandaNchris let me know.. :)

Yes if I find out the answer to this, I will defiantly let you know too :)
mandaNchrisFemaleCanada2010-03-24 21:56:00
Canadajust want to make sure
I might sound stupid but i just want to be sure. On the form DS-156k it says "the following documents must be attached in order to apply for a fiance nonimmigrant visa" then it lists birth certificate, birth certificate of children listed in number five, police certificates evidence of engagement to your fiance and evidence of financial support. I was just wondering if we have to send in all that stuff right now or do we just bring it to the interview? or do we send in copies and bring the originals to the interview. I dont have a police certificate yet..... Also with the police clearance do i have to go get one from Sarina and Windsor sense i lived in both cities from the age of 16 or does one from Windsor cover all of Canada, so no need for one from Sarina too??
mandaNchrisFemaleCanada2010-03-24 15:51:00
CanadaAnother question

You are correct: the case number they are now referring to is the one that begins with MTL. This is the only way they organize your file until you are in the States, so this is the only number you need to concern yourself with.

Great, thank you very much :) I'll be mailing it off tomorrow. :)
mandaNchrisFemaleCanada2010-03-30 01:28:00
CanadaAnother question
I posted this question a few days ago on my other topic about the DS-160 but havent gotten any responses. It asks for our case number, I was just wondering if it meant the first one we got or the one with MTL in it??? We put the MTL number on the form I just want to know if I did the right one thanx

P.S. is the MTL number also the one we put on the envelope to send back to montreal??

Canadasending forms back
I bought a canada post priority regional mail envelope and I was wondering where on it I should put my case number?? On the back it has the spots for your address and it says "customer No." could I put my visa number in that spot??? I hope I have the right envelope too. I cant find my sheet of paper from my packet 3 that says what forms I need and that has the address for the montreal consulate on it. So if anyone knows the address and could let me know that would be great. I dont want to send this to the wrong place lol

CanadaDS160 online form problems
I didnt upload a photo because i didnt have any that fit what they said was needed. You have to still go through the steps of adding a photo tho or it wont let you continue to the page with your confermation number. Try agian. I had to fill it out four times before i tried just going through the steps of adding a picture and bam it worked after that.
