Sasha was here in the States 2 times in the past. Both on a student/worker visa. J-visa I think. She was wondering what to list as the "A" number. Would this number be clearly labeled on her past visas? If its not, should she just write "none"? Anyway, thanks for the help.

QUOTE (apgk @ Jan 21 2008, 11:26 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
The 1-485 says to include the certified copy of the marriage certificate.

We are just including a copy of the original marriage certificate and hoping we wont get an RFE - any one tried this and faced any problems?

Certified means that it has been stamped by the local courthouse from which it was registered. If you're using an original, it should already have this stamp. I think you'll be fine.

How have you guys found out if/when the consulate received your petition. I am sure they have mine by now (it was sent the 16th) but I dont know how to check for sure. Did you guys call the embassy or DOS? Or did you find out by some other means?

Thanks,

DOS knows this - I remember getting that information from DOS.

Yeah, I agree. This seems to be the only way to find out when the consulate received your case.

I think Sasha would have my nuts if I had so many photos of random Russian girls tongue.gif I captured plenty of Russian ladies walking by while making films, but it was because I was interested in the fashion more than anything. but even then I felt a bit guilty. Also, my Sasha is one of those girls that men would probably try to photograph as she passed. biggrin.gif

Does anyone know how long can one stay in Russia with Advance Parole, legally, so they wouldn't abandon thier AOS here in the states? I have a friend in Russia now, and she's in the hospital, so I was wondering how long can she stay in Russia with her AP.

You must return to the U.S. with the AP before its stated expiration date. Bear in mind, also, that if you miss your adjustment interview while abroad (presuming your I-130 is approved, or are doing a K-1 adjustment), you'll have to re-file I-485 with a new fee when you return to the U.S. in order to resume AOS and wait all over again for a new interview date.

Might sound like a dumb question.....but what about the W-2? These online filing sites do the filing for you, but the IRS doesn't receive a copy of your W-2? I've always filed through the mail because I thought the IRS needed a "physical" copy of your W-2.

Yup. Once you file (I typically use taxACT or TurboTax online for free), they provide you with a PDF version of your return. Just print that off, add your W2s, and you should be good to go.

Since the interview is so close to tax time, they can't expect you to have an official transcript from the IRS for the 2007 tax year.

Just another question......to anyone who can answer. Are these websites the best for instant E-filing? Or should i use IRS.gov? I'm thinking maybe IRS.gov because the return I'll print out will be from the IRS, and not an online tax preparer. But I'm not sure.

Take a breath, my friend! smile.gif

Just make a printout of the 1040 and any tax schedules after you file. Send them along with your W-2s. They only want to see a copy of your latest tax return. Send the I-134 as a "just in case". Some C/Os ask for it and others do not. This is why they say, "Not required, but could be requested."

I am confident all will go just as you want! Who could turn down Sasha? wink.gif

Thanks Jeff! And that's very nice of you to say. I feel a bit better now. I'll send everything this week and I'll simply file online and send a printed copy of my return. Whew!

I'm sending Sasha my notarized I-134 this week. Along with all other needed documents and evidence for the interview. We are going over everything carefully and still come across a bit of confusion. I know almost nothing about the IRS. All i do is collect W-2s, fillout the 1040s and send them in. Or, I have someone else do it for me. So, I'm a little confused about what exactly to give with my I-134. I asked similar stuff in another thread a while back, but needless to say, it didnt stick with me. So, please try to help me if you can. 2006 was a bad work year for me. Didnt earn enough on my W-2 to even file. I was working outside of my rhelm that year and most of my pay came through contractors. Bad, I know. Anyway, since middle of 2006 to the current I've had a well paying job. And 2007's W-2 is way over the minimum requirements set forth by the poverty guidelines. I received my W-2s about a week and a half ago. i was going to send one of the original copies to Sasha along with my recent paystubs, I-134, letter from employer. I read that only 2 forms of supporting evidence are required with the Aff of Supp. But I've also read that the sponsor needs to provide W-2, tax transcript from IRS, 1040, etc. I dont have tax transcripts. and what do they mean by 1040? Just a copy of the form I filled out and sent to the IRS for my claims? I wont get any returns until march at the soonest, since I'm just now sending them out.
Will my W-2s from 2007 be enough? I even read on the Moscow Embassy website that the I-134 is not required but may be requested. How can this be? I thought everyone needed to submit one of these. Anyway, I thought I had what was needed. but now I'm having some terrible visions. Can anyone please help me with this? I'm wiggin' out a bit. Thanks. wacko.gif

The reason most of our threads get hijacked is because we're so efficient, we get the questions answered within the first couple of posts and then it turns into theorizing about related issues; which segues into theorizing about unrelated issues; which then becomes opportunities to add in some humor and that is so often spun into a new topic because how can you poke fun at someone without them taking it to the next level?

Good luck Sasha, with the upcoming interview!!

Hey Irish. This is Jason, but I will say "Thank you" for Sasha. I'm sure she's deep in dreamland right about now. So, don't my reply in her absence. We're both looking forward to getting past the interview successfully. But I must admit that it's been tearing our nerves up a bit. we feel pretty confident. But when you've waited so long and get this close, the anxiety consumes you. 2 more days. And we'll finally have the answers we've been seeking, finally have something concrete to base our plans upon. One way or another, we'll be given a path to take. we've made backup plans for the "just in case" situation. So, at least by friday we'll know who's going where. But we're confident that she will be coming here by the end of March. Our fingers are crossed tightly.... good.gif

And it can be easily explained at the interview if the question comes up. be honest, and at worst they might delay the actual issuance of the visa until the receive the needed documents. Don't stress about this.

J-man, when is she comming over? Is she going to wait a while to get her affairs in order or is she comming post haste? wink.gif

Rob, she's going to finish one more month of work in Moscow. She has a terrific job as a writer and translator for Sony Pictures there. And luckily she works for an American company so she will most likely retain her job and work from the U.S. via telecommuting. At least we are really hoping so. She has a great income and her job is quite respected. She works on a contract status, so that's good for her.

Anyway, it will take us about a month to prepare for her return to the States. and we're planning on the end of March. I'll take some time off of work, drive to NY to pick her up, then we'll spend some time in Pennsylvania with family. But not until we've had some time to ourselves, of course. wink.gif

Sasha, if you haven't done it already, make sure you get a copy of your immunizations to bring with you to the U.S.

You'll need it to give to the civil surgeon when you file for AOS. The form you need (or may have already) is the DS-3025. If you don't have a copy, ask for one from the clinic or get the embassy to make a copy for you.

Almost done!!! Good luck with the interview!

Thank you for the information. I will deal with this form after i am done with the interview. I asked the therapist about this form but she was in a hurry and asked me to call later. So, i'll do it next week. I can't really think about anything except for the interview now. I think i am in panic.

Don't worry, Robert. The invitation to the doctor's office is not in the packet. Elena will get it once she is in the medical center. If she goes to AO Meditsina she will have to go to the reception at first. There she will give her national passport and she will receive a pass and and invitation to the GP. And the GP will ask her for her international passport, this invitation and two photos and then send her to pay for the medical, take her blood test and x-rays. It's all very easy. Nothing to worry about. Good luck.

So, I just passed my medical. Wasn't bad at all. It took me two days though but that's because I wasn't in a hurry and overslept my turn to go to the doctor's office for a couple of times.
Anyway, I went to AO Meditsina since it was really close to my job. I took my pass on the first floor and went straight to the GP's office. Two people were already waiting: a young girl with extremely angry face and a very nervous babushka. So I was tthe third and then the amily of three entered. In about 40 min of waiting I gave my passport and the invitation to the GP and in another 20 min she sent me to take my blood test and x-rays. I was done with that in 30 min. By the time I came back to the GP she was gone. She had an emergency or smth. I was told to come back the next day which I did. Saw the same people there who came to get the results. I had a quick conversation with the therapist. No questions about drugs, no getting naked. She told me that my x-rays and my blood test were fine. She asked questions about my medical history but since i had never been really sick we were done in less than 10 min. I took my sealed envelope and went home. The impressions are positive.
Good luck to those who will have their medical soon.
