United KingdomWhere the hell do I send my P85?
It depends on when you leave your job if the tax year is almost done you probably wont get much if anything back. I left my job in May so the tax year had just started and therefore my allowance was not used up so I got pretty much all my tax back.

I actually took mine in to the tax office in the town I lived, I dont even know if that was the correct tax office but they accepted it and I got my refund.

United KingdomSMS do they only deliver the visa AND passport?
Timeline says interview approved. It would be my guess that they tried to deliver the passport.

Did they leave a card so he can arrange further delivery or did they send the package back to the embassy?

United KingdomAnnoying travel agents
Technically they are correct, but I have to agree with you the chances of you getting turned around are so slim that it would not justify the purchase of a round trip ticket. Stick to your guns and tell them its one way only and if they dont like it you can go to another travel agent.

United KingdomLondon medical price rise

Hey thank you - but now were having a bit of a bind with the money situation - Oh I wish I had a tree int he garden that grew money!!! Oh well I will have to talk to my other half later today and find out what we are gonna do - I am in two minds to reschedule but I know it wont look good considering we put the case on hold last year:( Oh well things will work out.

BTW any other suggesions on hotels/bed&breakfast in the embassy area apart from what is listed in the embassy page? Those two hotels are way too expensive for 2 ppl - my friend is coming with me:) (£120 1 nigth for 2 ppl)

Lina

Hey kins my interview is also on 7 of June at 10am - what time is yours? Hope to see ya there or is it your partner I may see?

Lina (UK Citizen)

I just booked my medical in London and they told me that the price goes up to £200 on 1st May 2007. The cancellation fee is now £80....

United KingdomYummy Yummy

I will not miss any food from the UK with the exception of bread.

We'll see how you feel about that after you've lived in the USA for a while. Its funny how you miss the little things!

lol well....strangely enough, I've been the one sending him american chocolate everytime we're not together. He loves fastbreaks! The only thing aside from crusty bread I can foresee him missing down the road would be Irn Bru and Tennants and maybe Scotch Broth (with his crusty bread hehe) :P

(I thought Nestle made kit kats as well, I'm right there with your confusion ;P)

hmmm scotch broth and crusty bread....that just made my stomach rumble...lol

United KingdomAnyone from the UK bring their US wife/husband to the interview?

If you want to call the embassy and double-check, it's up to you. I think it's kind of weird to completely discount my experience just because it's not what you're expecting to hear, tho.

I'm not completely discounting your experiance, i beleive you and the others that have posted i just would kinda thought being such a tough place to get into there would have been a more official way to accompany your spouse than just turning up and showing your passport. But from what i've learnt in this thread thats what we will be trying now. I just hope it works and my poor wife isn;t left outside whilst i'm in the interview!

thanks for all the help guys :)

It's the US Embassy. I'm a US citizen bearing a valid US passport. Why on earth would they not allow me to enter?   The US is not a police state.

Brings to mind what happened to me in the British Embassy in NY.

I had to get some further information for the fiance visa for my husband to come to the UK. We had to leave both passports in the British embassy and return to the day after with our additional evidence.

My husband (USC) was allowed straight in because he had picture ID, I was almost refused entry as I did not have picture ID, my passport was already in the embassy, and I had the old style UK licence (no picture).

I was almost demented by the fact that some American guy would not allow me into my own embassy, eventually he relented and let me in.

LOL....yikes! Most of the employees at the US embassy that we encountered were British, tho, so if someone hadn't let me into my own country's embassy it would have been a Brit!

I guess next time you'll have another form of picture ID.

Well now I do have other forms of picture ID, when I got married in the UK changed my name so got a new DL with a pic on and also have my passport.

For the US have my DL and also Green Card (which technically is not a form of ID).

United KingdomMedical and injections
I had my injections done at my GP surgery. The surgery had previously lost my records so did not know which shots I had previosuly had.

I think they gave me Tetanus, MMR and another injection (I dont remember which) and the Polio booster drops all at zero charge!
