United KingdomI'm sooooooo scared and overwhelmed
Fatty

I can't give you any advice on the travel, money situation. However in terms of your paperwork here is my advice.

Get yourself some clear plastic wallets. Put one document and its copy in the wallet. For example

I-864 (I think there are 5 pages), staple the original all together and staple the photocopy together. Put these two into one plastic wallet then when they ask to see the original you will have it and a copy of it. I had mine all unstapled and it was a nightmare!!

do this with the rest of your documents and then write the name of the document on the front of the wallet.

This makes this so much easier when they are asking for things. Dont get too worked up though they are very nice, the guy who took my documents from me helped me sort mine out.

They will let you in as the US citizen, my USC husband came in with me, but was much like your husband no idea what the paperwork was.

Once you have your documents sorted out that should relieve some of the stress. Also cant you leave your luggage at the hotel until you are finished then you dont have to cart everything with you.

I wish you well, and Good Luck, at least this is the last lap, and I am sure that we will soon be seeing your APPROVED post.

United KingdomPlease Please Help...
If your husband has responded to his ex wife's solicitor that is all he can do. If his ex is unable to accept that you cant pay what you dont have, then leave her to take it through the international courts.

I would of course advise that you keep all earnings related documentation (which I am sure you do already), if and when it ever gets to court the judge will decide if its fair or not. By the time it reaches the court system though your husband will probably already have started his new job and will be able to go back to the original amount. The ex will then probably drop the court case.

Dont worry as long as he is paying something he will be looked upon in good favor and even better if you have documentation to prove his earnings were low enough to justify the drop in payment.

Good Luck

United KingdomLondon interview on 31st January
I stayed at the Bryanston when I had my interview in London. Its not the Ritz but its adequate for the one night. It is about a 5 minute walk to the embassy.

Val where in the UK are you?
broma25FemaleUnited Kingdom2007-01-28 09:53:00
United KingdomThis might be a stupid question...

I travelled from the UK to the US on the Queen Mary, it was a 5 day cruise and was a great alternative to flying.

Hey, you! I always think of you when this topic comes up--hope you're doing well! :)

Hey Meauxna

I am doing ok still in the US anyway. Life was good for a while till my husband (USC) had to have a major lung op. He has been out of work now for 7 months and is still in a lot of pain, so life is tough being the immigrant and only one working and trying to keep everything going. But never mind it could have been worse at least it wasnt cancer!!!

And ahhhh the memories of the Queen Mary..................a once in a lifetime experience!!

United KingdomALAN'S VISA
Val

I am sorry to hear that Morgan is not doing too well. Let him go with the dignity he deserves, I know that losing a pet is very hard and right now you probably are very mixed up emotionally (I dont mean that in a bad way) excited at moving and devasted at what has happened to your precious doggie.

I still get very emotional when I think of when I lost my dog and that was in 1989 but she was just such a good dog.

You are wise to do as the vet advises. That sounds like a good idea to get a Morgan 2, and I am sure you will know when the time is right.

I wish you well,

Broma

Thats great news Val, I am so happy that everything is finally happening for you two. Do you have a place to go to in Florida (your own I mean) or are you staying with your daughter until you find something.

Wish you well with your packing and travels and also with the dogs!!

United KingdomDriving in US
The UK licence is in two parts, the pink photo card along with the regular paper licence. You must have the two parts together for it to be valid.

My local Acme supermarket sells PG tips, also Tetley British Blend of teabags which I find are as good as the ones I used to drink back home.

You can check the airline websites to see if they have info. This may be a good starting point even if you have not booked your flight you will still see how one airline differs from another.

United KingdomHow are you getting around the mothers day issue?
I just made my mum a card, and I know that she will be more than pleased with it. It will mean more to here than a bought one anyway as I took the trouble to make it, and here in the US there are so many nice things for card making.
broma25FemaleUnited Kingdom2007-03-13 08:43:00
United KingdomReally Dumb questions you've been asked about the UK

Ok when i was in Orlando with my fiancee she said to me about Brits wearing socks and sandals, i said "what you talking about, its an American thing, not an English thing" so we had a bet the first to 10 on who wears socks and sandals, i won...more Americans wear socks with sandals...she was shocked

I always thought it was the German Tourists who did this!

No they are the one's that put their towels on all the sunbeds cos they rise earlier than the Brits who have usually been out on an all night drinking binge....lol
