US Citizenship General DiscussionHow did you study the 100 questions?
QUOTE (akdiver @ Sep 30 2008, 09:57 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Well, for what it's worth, I just spent 2 hours recording the questions and answers from the "new test" flash cards as follows:

1). One track per question & answer (100 tracks total)
2). Question #, pause, The Question, pause, "Answer", pause, The Answer
3). MP3 format, 256 bit encoded
4). Questions with varying answers (based on location or who is now in office) in their own folder
5). 50MB in total size.
6). Joined together in a .zip file.
7). Perfect for use on an iPod, phone, Palm, or whatever (questions can be scrambled with random play)

I'll send it to anyone who wants it, if you have a place for me to post the file. Just let me know.

IMHO, I think this is better than flash cards since it's oral, and you have to take it orally - plus you can use it to study in the car, or at home cooking dinner, cleaning house, pondering the nature of the universe, or whatever.

Do you still have this to send?

I am not sure if this has happened to anyone else but I sent my N-400 application to the Texas center yesterday and it is being forwarded to another location, I am not sure where it is being sent to and I am wondering if this is anything to worry about.

N-400 applications are being forwarded to the National Benefit Center (NBC), Lee Summit, MO for primary processing before being sent to local field offices. I think you don't need to worry.

This is ridiculus. I had my fingerprint taken last year for my removal of condition on my greencard with no proble. How can fingerprints change in one year? Is it too much for them to just open my file and use those prints??
oh well too much burocracy wacko.gif

I believe that according to FBI rule, all fingerprint result is valid for 15 months or so.
USCIS doesn't store all fingerprint they took, I believe.
They only store the result received by FBI, and the result may be changed over the time.

I forgot to mention that fingerprint inquiry to FBI is done electronically, and USCIS will recieve the result from FBI within 24 hours.
So it is not major delay point.

USCIS ASC people use vaselin or something like that to have fine reading from each fingerprint.
So as long as you follow their direction, you should not have much of problem.

Are you saying that the fingerprint check only takes 24 hours?

The A# is on the Naturalization Certificate.
I understand it is used to track your files in USCIS.

Why would they track her husbands files....SHE is applying for citizenship. Isn't her husbands previous immigration status is irrelevant, now that he is a citizen.

He says "a husband filing for his wife". I understand that he meant filing either I-134 or I-129F. In that case, and I'm sure it is, he needs to put his A# when he was a green card holder.
My humble understanding.

Well this is the filing N-400 forum, which has no bearing on what your husbands immigration status is. If the husband is filing for his wife in another immigration capacity it needs to be posted in the correct forum which will result in the correct answer being given.

What exactly is the husband filing for???

This is the citizenship forum, the husband would not file for citizenship for his wife, she does that herself.

Also I would think that once you become a citizen (the husband) your "A" number is no longer relevant unless of course the question is Are you a naturalized citizen and what WAS your "A" number.

Its difficult to answer this one, as its not clear which form she is talking about.

While I read on the USCIS site, they may not take a third set of fingerprints if your last ones were done in 15 months. Due to a late date with the I-751 and an early appointment for the N-400, only 11 months passed for us for yet another 430 mile drive. Asked the fingerprint guy, why, he said, I don't know, I just work here. Emilio told congress, will still cost 80 bucks, because they have to store and retrieve your last set of prints from their database. So to make that trip worthwhile, did request a copy of that civics book with the CD. But had to ask for it, they didn't offer it.

Interesting observation, while your fingerprint shows up on your green card, no where to be found on your certificate, least not on my wifes', so why did we make that trip? A why did we have to resubmit all of that evidence again, when they already had it? She didn't get that green card out of a Cracker Jack box. Wife said at her interview, saw her three inch high folder.

Nick did you get a CD with the new questions on it?

The old questions, this was last April, ha, we played in the car driving home, did put my wife to sleep, and almost put me to sleep while driving, so put something a bit more lively on. The best way for her to learn was to ask me the questions, and see if I gave the right answers, you can actually learn a lot more by teaching.

Firing back the names of the 13 original colonies was the only bad question on there, don't have to answer it in any specific order, so the asker can get tripped up as well, ha, had fun with that one.

I think that question is now give THREE of the 13 original colonies.

It appears they do not have a CD with the new questions which is bad cos I think they would be useful in the car...but oh well.

I have the booklet with all the questions here. Sure, if my husband and I had lots of quiet time together to go over the questions, we could do that. Unfortunately our schedules are quite busy and we don't really have much downtime together like that. But I have downtime in between at work and so I can use 20 minutes here and 15 minutes there to look at flashcards and turn them over to check my answers. I don't need anybody to help me with that, but can study on my own. That's perfect for me. So, I think everybody has to figure for themselves which way of studying works best for them and decide after that. I don't want to persuade anybody to get the flashcards, but I think they will be a good tool for me. Another thing I would love, would be a tape or something like that to listen to while I drive (by myself blush.gif ). Maybe I should work on that.

That is in the pipeline Stella08 watch this space....

I am a little confused on the questions, obviously the ones that need one or more answers do state that so I am ok there, but the ones that have eg 4 responses do you only need to know one.

thanks
