K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduressmall question about passport with visa stamp
ok, here's hopefully a simple question for ya.

my fiancee has to fly to Manila to do her interview. From what i've heard from a few threads, the consular officer keeps the passport and sends it back to my fiancee with the visa, am i correct? If so, how does my fiancee travel back home without it? wouldn't she need it for ID purposes? also, wouldn't she need it to fill out any customs and immigration forms on the plane ride over? lemme know if I'm not making any sense. thanks for any inputs

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresmilitary

There has to be some benefit to being in the military. Tons of men get women here I have never heard of a woman marrying a foreign national. So anyway, if anybody knows anything please let me know.

Hi I'm active duty AF, not a woman but I do see quite a few on VJ so you're not alone in that aspect. I haven't really heard much about benefits to being military other than the I-864 guidelines dropped from 125% to 100%. I've also heard that there MAY be something if you're about to be deployed...possibly something about expedited processing. But I wouldnt' take advantage of that possibility, if you know what I mean. Hope this helps a little

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNOA2s are rolling in!!! Here's mine
I am hoping and praying that all the Marchies and those still waiting from months before will get their NOA2s very soon. Being as there's been quite a few approvals just this past weekend, there's gotta be something good going on at the service centers, especially CSC. So those of you still waiting, you've all gone this far, let's keep on pressing, praying for those NOA2s. Live your lives and don't let all this waiting get the best of you. Make good use of that wait time with your S/O. Before you know it, you'll get that famous email or snail mail and those dark clouds of uncertainty will surely fade to a blue sky. Good luck everyone and God bless! Thank you for all your support these past months. I'll be around from time to time....gotta start working again to get my girl ready for her interview. Cheers!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNOA2s are rolling in!!! Here's mine
thanks everyone for all your support these past six months! Of course I will still be here to help out and/or ask questions along the rest of our K-1 journey. Some of you may have asked, I don't think I'm the first of CSC NOA2s...i think I saw a few trickling this past week but yesterday I noticed the whole front page of this forum was splattered with approvals. So, keep hoping and praying all of you who are still waiting. Some may take a while but I'll say this now, the wait is worth it!!! Don't lose hope, don't give up! Keep yourselves busy and concentrate on each other and not so much on waiting for CIS. Good luck to you all!

...dang..178 days of waiting...hope none of you have to go that far  (F)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresChange of address
hey everyone! got a question for ya...I got the email Sep 1 saying our petition had been approved..Still waiting on snail mail... but already I'm kinda worried about something.

I will be moving to a new place on Sept 25th and if I'm not mistaken, my petition should be on it's way to NVC if not there already.

How and who do I inform of my pending change of address. Keep in mind that it's the 7th and won't move in until the 25th...it's a long ways and I bet that my petition will probably be on it's way to Manila Embassy by then. Any pointers? Thanks in advance!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresGetting really frustrated

I am so dicouraged. Its great CSC is finally rolling out March applications, however there has been no activity on our file since July. We have contacted 2 senators and a congress rep...and noone has gotten back to us..as a matter of fact one senator office LOST our paper work!! The Congress rep has not gotten back to us at all and she was certain she would be able to find out information for us within two weeks..guess what is been over two weeks! Anyway just wanted to get that off my chest. Just want them to approve ours already!!!!

Just hang in there C! Yea it sucks taking so long but you'll hear something from them soon enough. Just do whatever you can to keep busy and your mind off CIS. Don't let CIS take control of your time by making you wait. Instead spend it with your s/o however you can..online, through mail etc. Just be patient and pray that it'll be soon.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresis it okay to have met via the internet?
I met my lovey dovey online....no problems here. Well, other than the ludicrous waiting we have to do. But yea...at least half of us here have met online...like everyone said. Be brutally honest. the only thing that will bite you is if you hide anything or lie about anything. Other than that, you'll be fine. Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFor those about to begin their visa process
I must say that this forum has been of tremendous help in helping me and my fiancee with our paperwork. The most helpful advice and support from those going through the same situations are invaluable. My cousin had gone through the same (K1) process in 2005. Although it was before the whole IMBRA ordeal, her (now) husband started me off with a list of things he included in his petition...and then introduced me to VJ. Now, nine months later, my fiancee is currently on the last steps of the process as she is in Manila with her interview in a few days. I am a little disappointed in that although my uncle works for USCIS, his words were little and of no help at all. So my advice to all who are about to take their first step into the visa process: take full advantage of the help, advice and support that this forum provides. Also, USCIS and your respective embassy websites are invaluable tools to help you through. I will admit that waiting for NOA2 (petition approval notice) is indeed the hardest and most stressful part of the whole process. It is without a doubt that everyone wants to be with their significant other yesterday. But listen to me well; relax! If you've done everything right the first time, all you can do is wait! Don't think for one second that anyone has forgotten you or lost your petition/case. Take the time to not only do your homework for your case, but also make good use of the time you have to know and be with your s/o through whatever means of communication you have whether it be email, instant messenging, phone, letters and whatnot. Be creative with the time you do get to spend with him/her. For example, online shopping and traveling. The technology is there to bring us closer to each other than in the past. USE IT! Above all else, as long as you have three things: communication, trust and love, time will pass by so fast, by the time you receive your interview date, you will have sworn you just submitted your petition yesterday. No matter what visa process you're in, relax, have faith in everything set before you and that you will be with your loved one soon enough. Soon enough! Best of luck to you all and Happy Holidays!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK-1 Visa / Affidavit of Support / Co-Sponsor
Hi, I'm new here to the message boards, and am in the process of putting together the I-129 packet for a K-1 Visa. I know I will need a Co-Sponsor as I am without a job at the moment. Do you think that will be a major problem? Do you think we will get denied the visa because I don't have a job even though I have a Co-Sponsor who makes well above the poverty limit? I don't want to really push back applying for this until I find a job.....but I don't want to risk it either. Any help will be appreciated!

PhilippinesDual Citizenship
I've searched here several times in the past, and just did again. I can't seem to find much information though. Who here has done it and what's involved? Does she have to be naturalized here in the US first then re-apply for Phil citizenship? It's still down the road a ways I know, but if there was anything she could do now while she's still in Manila, to save some time or effort, that would be great :) BTW, I like the new layout here but I HATE how the topics come up when you search :bonk: :bonk:

Philippinesair21 in manila delivery.. does this look weird?
I think Merlaine's said the same thing. I think it's the request for a pickup that is received first, not the actual visa. It looks like it's going in circles but it's not..lol

Duh..LOL It's been a long day, sorry..LOL I'm a driver as well and that's all I put. Just make sure that you use the same job title on all the forms. Don't change it and put Truck Driver in one place then Driver somewhere else. Good luck treb

PhilippinesDS 230 pls help
If you don't have a job or assets you'll have to have a co-sponsor. The whole point of the DS-230 is to prove that the beneficiary WON'T become a liability. If the petitioner doesn't have a sufficient income or a co-sponsor that does, then you won't be approved. You have to be able to support the person you're petitioning for.

call 1-888-216-1671 and get a list of dealers in your area.

Thanks confusing! I called and that # was their tech support but she gave me the number for TFC Now (1-877-884-6832) and I got all the info. It's $79.99 initially for shipping and activation then the $29 a month. I'll order one when I get home! Provided that my girlie will like those channels. She's a Eat Bulaga and Darna kinda girl (GMA) so we'll see.. lol

Yeah I guess the next few days will be the longest few days for you, don't you just wish it was already next week? I am so glad that this stupidasss medical is behind me. Just to think that last month you were stressing with yours and I was stressing at mine, now we both can just laugh at it.

By the was Kevin, how long did it take your ole lady to get her Visa delivered to Leyte ?

Sorry Jason, she stayed with her brother in Manila and waited for it there. She was afraid to wait for/let Air 21 try to find her there at home (again). I sent her some documents about a month prior to that and the Air 21 guy never did find her. He asked some kids at the entrance to her Barangay and when they said they knew her he just left the package with them. I'm no fan to say the least and won't use FedEx again :bonk: :bonk:

PhilippinesAttempted Delivery abroad (express mail from US to PI)
50% of the time the cards I'd mail to Merlaine never got there. When they did, they'd been cut open and were damaged. I guess if they cut it open and don't find anything worth keeping, they just toss it in the garbage, well...50% of the time..lol When I sent interview documents to her this last time, I used FedEx who then turned it over to Air 21. The Air 21 guy couldn't find her and was standing out on the street asking people if they new her. One of the kids in her barangay said she knew her so he just handed it to the kid and left.

DHL is the only company that has DHL employees in the Philippines - they don't use any other company. Air 21 might be ok in other parts of the Phils, but I'll never use them again.

PhilippinesNVC case complete -- Now what?
You should call NVC on Friday to see if they've scheduled you an interview. They schedule interviews during the second week of each month for the following month. It's nearly impossible to know how busy the embassy there is but hopefully you'll make the scheduling this week and get a July interview..good luck!!

What a process!! I can't thank all of you enough for your help and support! It's the hardest thing a lot of us will have to do with all the ups and downs, months of waiting and worrying about the outcome. We had it easier than a lot of you will or did and I'm greatfull. For those of you who are still in the middle of it all or about to start, just hang in there...it'll come :)

Her flight was really good and the Detroit POE was really easy and stress free. It was extremely busy so the wait was pretty long but it was good other than that.

So thanks again everyone and we'll be here to cheer you on and help if we can :)
