Great idea Lisa!

I'll be travelling in just a few days now, and if there aren't any posts we might fall off the first page. I am sure, sorry as I am to say it, there will be new people who've no idea getting stuck at NVC is even an option after just getting approval, and it's quite a nasty shock to find out it can. If anyone comes looking, I'd like them to find this thread.

There's a lot of information here, in amongst the banter, and I can only speak for myself but it was nice to have company while we waited. When we were first here there were only a few of us, and there really wasn't any sort of idea with regard to length of time, and we have seen an average develop. Some get out sooner, and thank heavens no one has been here longer. I'd like to see everyone get out of jail in less time, and perhaps over time this new bit about subjecting cases to extra scruitiny at NVC will get streamlined and may take less time.

I'll still hang around. There's a great many aspects to this journey I'm not much help on, but I can certainly say I have a little experience here wink.gif

cdneh, I won't let this thread fall out in first place until you return yes.gif
Joe & Nadya, we are all praying for you, please patient on what we can only wait, your turn will be soon

Thank you very much! Sometimes moral supporting helps us being in such situation as AP or waiting for NOA2 wacko.gif And I hope you won't forget us and come here time to time to cheer us up laughing.gif

Does the NVC mail a letter to you with a NVC case number, for you to call and track? Or do you have to call the NVC and acquire the case number yourself?

you may call NVC first. If they received your case from USCIS they can give you the case number over the phone. in the next coming days or weeks, you will receive a notice that they got it and assigned you a case number. but then again, you may call so that you keep yourself posted while waiting for the mail to come in.

as for us, we found out our case # on the phone and in one week we got the mail from NVC.. but all time we called them and of course we are still keeping calling them.. and get letters by mail. I hope you will avoid AP innocent.gif

You should make a calling to the hospital and ask them in details. We have a child, but he is an American citizen. So, I called to the hospital and asked question about child. Our son doesn't have to pass it.

it's my list for medical interview.

• Passport or other photo-bearing document as ID (both for children and adults)
• 3 full frontal view photographs 50 x 50 mm
• Military service card
• Vaccination chart with the seal of the issuing clinic (mandatory for immigrants, optional for K visa applicants)
• Embassy case number beginning with KEV

If you know the date NVC received your case, then it's that what you use. Those letters mean nothing and are useless, since people seem to get them no matter what actually happens with their cases.

Thank you for explanations smile.gif Well, our case arrived on 13 Feb..ok, almost two weeks at NVC.. And about the letter, I will need it because when I called to make an appointment for medical exam I was said to bring a paper where they can see my full name with case # ( KEV - ************* ) I thought it is enough to tell them only case # but it wasn't.

When calling USCIS if you claim to be the petitioner for a K3 visa, when you are the beneficer, will this effect the Visa application?

Either one (the petitioner or beneficiary) can call and ask questions about your case.

I called last time and they said the petitioner needs to call and give permission for me to speak to them. I asked who is this possible when I'm in a different country? Also, if the petitioner calls and then I call 10 mins later would they believe me? She said the way to avoid this would be, to have a 3 way conference call. I replied, are you going to pay for the charges? She said no. I'm in a catch 22.

I just called them, a chocolate teapot is of more use than them!

I'd suggest you call them again, hopefully you'll get a different person on the line that should be able to answer questions about your case. if not, ask for a supervisor...

I understand that you want to speed up your process. You are not alone who was trying to do it. We have been tracking our case via DHL too, we knew when our case got to the Embassy. But I couldn't schedule my interview that day when our case was deliveried by DHL. I called to the call center next day but I was explained that Embassy didn't send any info with my KEV #, they get new info only on Fridays.

Then I called to the Consular section I was said that they didn't have my case yet and asked me to call back in 2 weeks. MAYBE they will have updated info in 2 weeks. I also sent my email to Consular section and asked them if they got our case or not. It was on Friday and on Monday evening, after 6 PM by Ukrainian time, I got Packet 3,4 by email and they wrote that they have my case and now it is reviewing. It's a process, it takes time too. Like I told you before, it took 2,5 weeks to schedule our interview. It's the shortest time from NVC till schedule your interview. We wanted to schedule for early May, but this month was closed yet. April was wide open for schedule. And May was full of holidays. We already had tickets, but didn't know the day of our interview. We do wanted to speed our process too. It's like you wink.gif

I think your process looks a bit unusual judging by other experiences I've read about. Looks like there was a mistake made by consular section which made call center not to allow you to schedule the interview. Anyone else telling their experience here and the call center reps I spoke with all suggest that as soon as they even see your KEV# in the system they will schedule your interview. Yours seems to be special case but certainly possible nevertheless.

Also, the fact that they told you to wait 2 weeks only means that they're trying to decrease the volume of calls and suggest ridiculous lengths. You did get in in the system before 2 weeks, right? It took 2,5 weeks between which moments - the day you was told left NVC and the day of interview itself?

I didn't get this point though " I got Packet 3,4 by email and they wrote that they have my case and now it is reviewing."
What does that mean? They sent you a package for interview and advised not to call until they complete the review? Doesn't make much sense, but ok, that's not what usually happens - people get package 3,4 and call right away and often get interview scheduled during this call. Again, seems to be additional one-off delay.

I think you really don't understand.. I got my Packet 3,4 by email on MONDAY.. but the call center recieves updated info every FRIDAYS. See difference?!?!? see my timelines and you will understand what I am talking about. I got Packet 3,4 by email and by mail. By email, with attached forms, instractions it's the same what you can see on the site. And the letter where I could get the answer my question : " Do you get my hard copy from NVC or not?" And they wrote that they have the hard copy and now it's reviewing. As soon as it done they will send to the call center. I didn't ask them to send me Packet 3,4 by email or mail because I have already had documents for interview. I just wanted to know where my case was! That's all. And I got it with attached forms and instractions via email and mail.

Send them email, call them every day and you will get answer your question if you don't believe people here. Cases are different, but all goes through the same way. Someone faster, someone longer.

You asked the question " How to schedule an interview?" you got many answers, but still misunderstanding.. wait then.. and you will see how long it takes.

Good luck.

About Fedex, you can pick up your passport yourself at the main Fedex office. We passed an interview on Monday and morning Wednesday we had my passport with visa in a hand.

So, why did you chose to pick up at the Fedex office? Was it faster route for you? I mean can it save one day or not?

For us, it was the best way to pick up a passport at Fedex office. We had some plans before the trip to the USA.

When you go to pay at Fedex for delivery of your passport you can tell them that you will pick up your passport yourself. You will be given a phone number where you can call to Fedex office and ask if they have your passport or not. Our interview was on Monday and morning Wednesday my passport was ready to pick up.

Thanks, but just to clarify - had you not done that and went default route - courier delivery - would you get the passport Wednesday afternoon then?

why default route?? they ask you what is the best for you to pick up yourself or use courier delivery" because I lived in Kiev. I was not going to wait for indefinite time. I know how Fedex works in Ukraine. If you live in other city or town in Ukraine of course you will use courier delivery but it can take up to 10 days.

When he goes to Fedex to pick up his passport your fiancee will get the full packet back what you sent to USCIS. It will be closed envelope. They will never let you to schedule an interview not seeing your case. When we passed interview, one couple passed it too before us, but their case were sent to Administrative processing because Consular has said it. Another words, even if you pass interview you don't know what color you will get.

Like Gary said, Ukraine is full of holidays. The Embassy doesn't work on Ukrainian and American holidays. What means, Independence Day in Ukraine ( August 24) and Labour Day in the USA ( September 7 ) . You have to know it too.

Conny, you doesn't understand how the system works in the Embassy. We passed it, and trust we wanted to have an interview also as soon as possible when we heard about electronic version of our case in Embassy system.

Embassy doesn't care if you have emergency case or not, you miss study or whatever.. You are not one who has emergency case. You HAVE TO wait when Embassy reviews your case and send to the call center. Embassy and the call center are situated apartly. Even when I got Packet 3,4 vie email from Embassy ( though I had already all ready documents for interview ) I called next day to the call center and our case was not in the system yet. Gary is right. When Embassy gets your paper by mail and send to the call center ( it happens only one time a week, on Fridays ) then the call center put your case # into their systen and ONLY after that you can schedule an interview. Wait for next 2-3 weeks after NVC. Embassy never schedule an interview, only the call center does it.

As for us, our case was sent to Kiev early April, but I could schedule an interview late April because the call center didn't have our case in their system.

Nadya.

Thanks, Nadya. Not sure why you're saying 2-3 weeks as the documents get delivered to Kiev consulate in 3 bus days and get entered into the system (according to Gary and others in a day or two). So, 5 days tops. That's what we're hoping to get. We simply don't have 2-3 weeks anymore, we got only 10 days left until his departure and he has to depart regardless what, otherwise college cancels the entire year of education and my fiance will simply have to continue it in Ukraine and we'll be apart for another year and possibly more. Such is life.

Documents delivery during 5 working days, but you can schedule an interview only in 2-3 weeks. Embassy doesn't work so fast.

the call center has updated info ONLY on Fridays.

When the NVC sends the approved petition to the embassy, is it just an approval notification or is it a copy of everything that I sent them? It's the entire package you initially submitted to USCIS.

I just read that I should have copied everything that I sent in along with the I129F and then should send that to my fiance to take along with her to the visa interview. Is that absolutely necessary? Not necessary, however it's good to keep a copy of the exact package you initially submitted. Just in case they ask very specific questions about the documents during her interview.

I didn't copy everything beforehand but I can pretty much reproduce it and send to her if it's really required. Nadiya had a copy of the package which I e-mailed to her and she studied it. The CO asked a couple of questions about some of the contents, but nothing major.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Also do they tell you if you are approved that day or do you have to wait for the passport to see if you got the visa???

Ukraine is one of the easiests Embassys to work with and very fast. The Embassy says it can take up to 10 days for the passport delivery via Fedex, we however, got it in 2 days, but we were in Kiev. So it really depends on your fiancee's address in Ukraine. If she does live in Kiev, she can pick it up herself at the Fedex office around 2 to 3 days after the interview, NOT weeks..

This should answer most of your questions

Congrats on your NOA-2..... kicking.gif kicking.gif

yep, yep, as mentioned above, that link answered most of our questions as well....Also, follow this one -> http://kyiv.usembass..._forms_eng.html to download the information Packet...that's your Packet 3. Don't wait for the Embassy to mail it to your fiancee', download it and start working on it. In the meantime you can call the service center in Poland to schedule her interview. Just make sure that your case # is in their system. Your case number will start with the letters KEV-........... They enter cases into their systems only on Fridays.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Hello everyone I got my NVC case now and getting ready for the interview at the Kiev Embassy. Is there anybody here who recently went to his/her interview at the kiev embassy? I would like some advice in regard of putting documents together for the interview.

Thanks in advance

One thing I noticed that has changed from the information package we downloaded back in April in comparisson to the one I sent you today, was that the DS-156 and DS-156K forms are missing for whatever reason. The link I sent you earlier tonight (http://travel.state....forms_1342.html) should have the missing forms, though they are in English.

Without knowing you or your fiancee, I will say this only as a word to the wise. Be careful. Be very careful.

If requests start coming for money, be very sure what you are getting into. No accusations, no assuptions. I will only say that there has been a LOT of scams pulled in Ukraine and Russia particularly. where there are sudden family emergencies requiring lots of money. Ukraine has, basically, free health care. It is not unusual (quite normal) to bribe people for better service, but this is not a large amount of money, generally. Though a common way of life, at least bribery is cheap in Ukraine and gets results. Be very aware of what you are doing before sending any money

You are right, Gary! You should be very careful in this situation. By the way, why is she in Kiev with her mother? Is she from Kiev?? Other regions have good hospitals too. We say "Oblastnaya bol'nitsa" or region hospital. If you live in small town and you have emergency case and doctors can't do anything with that they must bring you to the region hostipal where they have more equipments for everything. They make all emergency services. But still you have to pay some money for it, it's not so expensive. Usually you pay for gas or some expensive pills or injections. It 's supposed to be free or very cheap.

There is an American Medical Center in Kiev. http://www.amcenters.com/ I know there are also private hospital facilities also. The American Medical Center is staffed by American Medical Personnell so thay should be able to point you in the best direction.

Why does she need an American Medical Center in Kiev if she is still an Ukrainian citizen? It's very expensive there and only for Amricans. She needs to call or go to any local hospital. They accept everybody, just have money in any case.

well, medical system in Ukraine is not bad is not good. We don't have medical insurance like you have here in the USA. But still you have to pay for some service. All depends who a doctor is. Even private hospitals sometimes have not experienced [skilled] doctors. There are many hospitals in Ukraine everywhere( state or private ). What region?
