TL;

you're not the only one that had problems with Dr. "bc"Barngraby. My SO's friend had his medical in October, he lived in Mobay but they were booked out so he had to go to Kingston and he was told he had to go back to pick it up, when he went back, they couldn't find it. He waited 3 hours for them to look for it but they told him they're too busy and to come back the next day. Imagine, you come from 'bay to Kingston and they telling you to come back. He picked it up the day of his interview.

That's the thing - like no one has anything to do but wait on them. And they know they have something you need desparately.... A has been working double shifts and over nights to get the next day off to try to deal with it. Living in Kingston, working in Maypen so 2 hr commute each way. I asked today when was he going to sleep more than an hour??? It will be amazing if he makes it through this without getting sick.

Evening Yardies!

I called NVC today and found out they sent our petition package to the embassy two days ago. Boy it's moving along quick! Mister finally has his non-impediment form in his hand so that's good. Now we have to get all his vaccinations too because he has no prior records. Don't think he's ever had his 'jooks'.

You're moving along Ells! You can fire the DS230 email off anytime if it is completed. Try his school - that's where A had to get his jook record from.

I always recommend the Jamaican make the appointments. Funny how the price goes up once they hear an American voice. Two of my friends had serious problems with Dr. Banbury's office.

What kind of problems Shemmy? I was starting to think we were just dealing with our bad luck, but now that I hear others are having problems maybe it's not just us.

This is the ####### we have been dealing with - When he was in the bus accident he lost the envelope that had the police report and medical in it, but didn't notice. When I was prepping for interview I was putting everything together and it was gone. So we were blue slipped for the police report and medical. Embassy called Branbury to get a copy of the medical and A got another police report and dropped it off on February 11. He left his passport and paid the DHL fee that day too.

Branbury's office couldn't find his medical - so he needs to do another one. He goes (trip 1) - they won't do it without his passport. Embassy even calls Branbury's office and he still won't do it so back to embassy he goes to pick up passport. Goes the very next day (trip 2) Branbury won't do it without the interview letter! I faxed him down a copy of our interview letter and a copy of the email from the embassy that he had an appointment for yesterday to drop off a completed medical (which he should've had by then!!). Goes again (trip 3) - they call the police on him because they think he is trying visa fraud!! At the police station they talk to the embassy who says yes, he just needs a medical. Police tell Branbury that and they say come back. He was already late for work so he said he would be back the next day. He goes next day (trip 4) and they say no medical (doc has now talked to the embassy 3xs!!) - go to the embassy and get a blue slip. So now he has to wait till Tuesday the 10th to get a blue slip. He has made 4 trips to Branbury's office for all this ####### and working on 2 trips to the embassy - meanwhile missing work. His supervisor is all up in his face about missing all this time from work.

But on another note I will say this again, the embassy has been very helpful with all of the ####### we have been going through.

$350!!!! How many did he get? We are thinking C only needs two but who knows for sure. Okay so he is taking $18000J better be enough.

As long as he stays away from BC Branbury he should be fine. When I made the initial appointment way back when she told me on the phone that he needed to bring $90 for the medical and $200 for the vaccinations! But I guess it's the same way here - Sunny said the want to charge $100 for one shot for Ray.

Hey guys!
Things are going great!
Hubby is settling in nicely. He had 3 days to settle in at home and then today and tomorrow he is working with our friends in getting the seeds planted for their greenhouse
Last night we (HE) had an interview with a local Dr. and his wife for a 2nd ranch hand on the alpaca farm (it is mostly farm work..not as much alpaca work) and starts Tuesday!
It isnt GREAT pay and he will have to work Saturdays and and a few hours on Sundays sad.gif ....but other than that it seems a perfect fit!
We are just glad to get him ANY job in this economy! and so quickly!

Also- we have NO public transportation so M will need a car quick. Some family has a 199 Mitsibishi Eclipse, standard for sale because they are having another baby and its too little..does anyone have any opinions or reviews on that car

I want him to get a truck, but he wants a small car (whatever) and the plus side is it gets better gas mileage

ok. well, I see we have quite a few newbies!
I hope everyone is doing well!!

That's great Shrewie!! I agree any job is good right now - financially but also to keep him going. I wouldn't want to sit around day in day out while my SO goes to work. Can't help you on the car though..

I'm Sam, and just married my Rasta man, Talbert, on Jan. 19th. Seemed to take forever to get the marriage cert, but it finally arrived last week and our 130 was delivered to the lockbox. From what I've been reading, now the waiting and anxiety begin! It'll be great to have others around who totally relate to this experience. Is anyone out there in the Phoenix, AZ area???

I'm already nervous, knowing we have circumstances that in the eye of immigration is sure to look suspect. We can only have faith in our love and hope it comes through in the paper work.

Question for ya... how do you guys get the cute little counters and timelines in your signatures>>

Well, I think I'll go through some of this thread and see if I can get caught up on parts 1-12. biggrin.gif

mad.gif So Steven has been trying to get his passport for quite a while now. When he first submitted everything, he checked back every few days. After a couple of weeks, they told him the pictures wouldn't work because the background wasn't white enough. He paid for more pictures & submitted everything again. Two weeks went by (with him checking every few days). Today, they told him that the pictures still won't work! huh.gif

Steven is VERY frustrated. To me, the next steps are simple: Go back & ask them what was wrong with the last pictures. Go to the picture place & retake some. Go back and ask them ON THE SPOT if those pictures will do, instead of having to wait for weeks. But he doesn't even want to talk about it right now.

This is frustrating because we can't fill out the DS156 or get the police record without the passport.

I'm battling my boredom with the "Memoirs of an Illegal Alien" series on Jamaicans.com - never read it before and it's very interesting reading. The young man writes pretty well and it's very interesting to read his observations on first coming to live in the U.S. I'm on part 9 now....only 35 more to get to the current installment.

I just started reading this. It's fascinating! Much more so than American Idol.

Also, after one of my trips to Jamaica, my bank canceled my credit card due to fraud. The strange thing was, they wouldn't tell me what happened.

I always call them and tell them that I will be in Jamaica and the dates so that it doesn't get flagged - unless there are charges made after those dates.

There was an article in the Gleaner or the Star today about a big arrest for credit card fraud, and I have seen several reports of it lately from travelers to JA - enough so that I am going to get travelers checks tomorrow, and not use my card at all while there! Plus the fact that last trip, many ATMs were outta cash, lol -

That sounds like a good idea!!

Wakey---I think you can use a leave-in conditioner, and then wash once a week...

Lawny---do you know someone in MB? I was looking on this site called Homeaway.com and found this great condo for rent! She's been really good to negotiate with so far, and she's had great reviews about the condo and the whole experience!

A few of my co-workers own property there. We'll see how the weekend plays out. The last time we went there I cooked jerk chicken and rice-n-peas with fried plaintains for 3 days straight, the neighbors didn't want us to leave it was so much fun. We also made fritters and plaintain porridge and they loved it.

Lawny, will you come to my house and cook please? You make me hungry reading this.

#######!?!?!?! mad.gif I got a call from the fraud unit of my credit card company - someone tried to tief $1,200 from my credit card through Western Union!!!!!! mad.gif

Wow! Good thing you got the call though. Have you done any recent transactions through WU?

None. The last time I used this credit card was in JA - paid for my hotel and my car rental on it. The car rental place does the old credit card machine slips. The guy did tell me it was manually punched in and Western Union called the credit card company.

Oh yeah, by the way....Hi Island, Quana & Shemmy! Hi SunRay (just saw ya)!

Island, what are you going to NYC for? Sounds fun (but cold?)!

Tourist trip - lol. My best friend and I are taking a bus trip down - up here in the bush a bus trip to NYC is big business!

Hey, I live IN San Francisco and that still sounds fun to me! I've never been to NYC but I intend to one day....AND going to do ALL the touristy stuff. I'd love to go around Christmas and ice skate at Rockefeller Center.

You should Leah - there's nothing like it. I love to go to the city and then I love to leave! I'm hoping to take my kids down this summer - tons of museums and I have never been to the statute! I'm a bad New Yorker....

Well, stay on and hold on tight... Things are going good here. I need to send off Ray's AOS, but he needs a Vericella shot and they want me to pay $100. Ugh! So, I'm trying to see if our insurance will cover it, but they are taking to long to get back with me. Idiots...

Please!!! That shot probably costs them $5. Insurance covers it for kids so hopefully they will for Ray.

Did anyone catch Mavodo on the Rippin the Runway show last night. He was singing you so Special and had all the big beautiful women walking the runway. I was loving it.
http://scaredem.blog...rip-runway.html

I only saw that just now but it's NICE to see 'real' women (no offense intended to my lovely slender sisters...it's just nice to see so-called 'imperfect' shapes being represented for once) out there showing what real bodies look like! These size 2 models just give girls & women such an unrealistic impression of what a woman SHOULD look like....never mind that most of them have really unhealthy habits to maintain that look!

I agree totally Ells.
