I have to say T's dad was jerk. I really didnt think I could do better.. he was tall, gorgeous. I didnt have much in the way of self esteem. But my getting pregnant wasnt planned. But I was in a place where I could afford having the baby, and in my heart I knew I wanted it. I knew my relationship with her dad wouldnt last. We didnt get married, thank goodness.
"All things happen for a reason", applied to me here... Tierra gave me the strength to get the heck out. And now I have Louis! I truly beleive all the events of my life have led up to where I am now. And if I didn't go down the path I did I wouldn't yet have met Louis. :-)

I agree - I believe the same. Everything that happen was supposed to have happened to me....and I know I wouldn't have learned the lessons that I have without it.

I may have dates a few guys but my daughter never met them. My daughters father HATES Louis.. but it is all jealousy. Louis gets to spend more time... blah blah. I can say some of the problems btween my daughter and Louis stem from her father. He questions her about stuff (asked if Louis touches her!!) Also told her Louis will never be her real dad... all that. Tierra gets very confused...
On the other she has a stepmom that I get along with. We can talk when I have a concern. I also let Tierra know she can love us all the same. That should should respect Stepmom and Louis equally. She should listen to us all becuase we love her and want her to be safe.

Its hard when it is one-sided! But I think Tierra's dad's "concern" is selfesh! He doesn't want Tierra calling anyone else daddy.
I might be crazy but I dont mind if Tierra calls step-mom "mom".. I know who I am!

Ick - what a stress on T. But at least she has you to help her see it clearly. My kids have a stepmom from right after we divorced and she loves to yap. For the most part we all get along very well, but every once in awhile she will overstep her bounds and the kids have a hard time - but always come to me to talk about it.

every one that had children in a previous relationship

Is ur current relationship the 1st one after u separated from ur ex? why are they "concerned". Don't get me wrong. I would be a maniac too if my children all of a sudden have another woman in their lives to confuse the heck out of them in regards to mommy and daddy relationship.. BUT do u guys see where I'm going with this?

No - not the 1st relationship. But you hit it - as a parent any significant "new" person who comes along in your children's lives makes you stop, think and learn real fast. Most of the sicko ish that happens comes from a person close to the child.

Concerned that there was a man all of the sudden moving into the house - not jealous, just to him a stranger. But he also trusts my judgment as a mom and knows I would never put my kids in harms way so he didn't sprout any gray hairs over this. Black doesn't bother him at all - he's used to that.

Everyone's been great - but I laid it out there to them all that whenever I go to JA his family welcomes me with open arms and heart even though I look and talk different than them and I would hope they would do the same. No one has dared to do otherwise. Even my grandfather has turned a good shoulder cuz he sees that A is an asset to our family. The ex is cool - he was concerned for a minute, but since the kids love him and talk good about him, he's fine.

And just like your girls....Alexa loves to chat all her stories to him, cuz it's new ears!! But those two have had a special bond long time now. Whenever she was sick, he was sick. If she was giving me trouble, he was giving trouble. If he didn't call, she was asking why.

I will be having my second neck surgery on Thursday. They will be cutting me in the front again and then flipping me over to cut in the back of my neck. I will also have stitches around my head because they have to put that metal crown on my head to keep it from flopping around and to keep blood pressure from my eyes (it can cause blindness if too much pressure rests on my eyes )....I'm trying hard not to be scared...please keep me in your prayers for full recovery and no complications.

I'm really good at making the punishment fit the crime - for instance I heard my son tell an off color joke to his friends. We went home where he had to research what the joke meant (cuz I knew he had no idea, was just repeating) and then write me a full page essay on it. Never hear talk like that again.

Just the other night he was being all rude about a snack - he went to bed without one. I told him his stomach is going to have to teach his mouth to be nice.

My friends will often email me for punishment advice - I'm real creative (but legal and abuse free!!)

Creative is always good - When I used to work at an afterschool program, the boys were constantly testing their limits with swearing (10 - 12 year olds) - The director used to make them sit and write "I will not swear...." over and over - they hated her. They started pushing it with me in the van one day, and I didn't react to the swear, just calmly said - that's 10 pieces of garbage you have to pick up when we stop - They were like huh???? I told them if garbage was coming out of their mouths, they had to put it somewhere - so for every swear, that made 10 pieces they needed to clean up. They laughed it off and did it - But they got to the point where they wouldn't swear in front of me - and if they slipped and did, they would punish themselves and pick up the garbage!

That's a good one Sus! I had to use a little soap on the tongue to wash the dirty words away.

Ok...been having some behavioural issues with my 8 (soon 9 year old)
Been asking for some alternative punishments and my co workers have suggested

making him stand in the corner
making him do yard work for neighbours
making him eat unsweetened oatmeal for dinner
standing in the corner arms outstretched with a can of beans in each hand

Can anyone else suggest some legal and effective punishments??
I have been taking him toys and games away, making him stay in his room, to no avail. So will try these, but would love to hear some more!

So I have a lil adjustment story for ya'll to start the week with:

As some of you know we have had a lil barber issue in that A keep saying he wouldn't go to a white barber. I took my son to the barber on Saturday but A still wouldn't sit in the chair. Well in the afternoon my daughter comes running in the kitchen dancing and grinning and said A wants to know if you want to cut his hair. I said I would be honored - I walk down to the bathroom and shout OMG!! He was bald!! Apparently he let Alexa cut his hair - WITHOUT THE GUARD on the razor. I said that is pure love if you let a 7 year old cut your hair!!

That is the cutest thing! Was he upset that he was bald??

I am pretty proud of myself.... I have tought myself how to twist Louis' dreads! I do just as well as the salon we pay $50 for them to get done. I asked Tierra if she wanted to try and with her little 7 year old attitude... "ew no!". LOL!

LOL - didn't seem to be, but I guess he should've expected it when he handed her the razor without a guard. I heard her tell him this am that next time she wants to do with the black thingy on there.

Congrats on the learning to twist - way to save yourselves some money! And each one is twisted with love. luv.gif
