Sus - glad to hear this trip was uneventful and relaxing - just what you needed!!

SBys - she probably needs to try to contact the embassy. They should've received some type of correspondence from the embassy by now.

She's emailed but got no response. But she also says she didn't get a KNG # ... I have her rechecking for that.

QUOTE (dillon @ May 28 2009, 02:04 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
She needs to call the DOS # they will have all the information there that the Embassy has. 202-663-1225...tell her to press 1 and then 0 and tell her to have her Kingston case number ready. Did she ever send in or drop off at the Embassy the DS230? If she hasn't that is the next step she needs to do.

Thanks so much... hopefully she will find her case number and I'll have her try this number. I just sent her the DS230 so I'll tell her to drop that off too.

If she didn't address her email correctly that may be why she hasn't had a response. She can get her case # from the NVC, then call the 202 to see what they say the status is. If I was her I would DHL the embassy the DS230 and not wait around (any longer than she already has) for an appointment to drop it off.

If you Skype from computer to computer, it is the best cost of all: $0.00! But both of you need to have an internet connection to use it. Otherwise, calls to Jamaica (Skype to phone) are somewhere between 20 & 25 cents. That's no cheaper than Rebtel or Ringyard, and if you go that way, may as well have him call you with Digicel international.

Yeah I saw that. I just switched to Vonage on the home phone and their rate is 25cents a minute so that's just a few cents more than Ringyard. I don't understand why there are no good international plans in the US to call Jamaica. mad.gif I told him it would cost less to put the Digicel international on all his friend's phone than him to call them all the time on Ringyard. We have it on his old phone which Jr now has but that's it.

Yankeesgirl - The Hotel Gloriana - When my auntie got married last year some of my family stayed there so I’m a little familiar with it. I thought it was a little too far walking back at night from M’ville (and then they walked back one night from Pier One) but it was a lot of us so it was ok. Overall I liked it (not a five star) but thought it was something I wanted to try out on one of my return trips and maybe reserve a block of rooms for family to stay again for my wedding. But I have read so many bad reviews that I have been hesitant. So you would recommend staying here?

how do you deal with the waiting?
i'm just 18 days in and sometimes i feel so antsy?
so how do you deal with it? seriously
what do you do to keep from going crazy?

A few ways - you have to stay busy and try not to focus on just this. Live your everyday life like it is - not like it will be when you get here.

Sometimes I would have to back off from VJ just because it made me focus more on the process, which at times was spinning out of control for me.

I also tried not to think about the big timeline...just think about today, then when tomorrow came, think about that day.

Finally...PRAY alot!!

KK - I think it depends on when the name was added to the birth certificate. When we had our interview there were alot of family interviews and that was the common line. I would hear the CO say your father's name wasn't added for X years so you are going to need a DNA test. Then there were others that had no problems and didn't require the test.

Wakey, don't know what is going on in this chick's head, but there is no way in hell she can get ###### from you. Things happen for a reason, and maybe the reason is to strengthen your resolve to get the MAN that created this mess out of your life for good. As for embarrassing you on here, girl, LET HER TRY!!!!
In fact, maybe you should pretend you're deathly afraid of her posting here so she goes ahead and DOES IT!!
We would SLAUGHTER her on here, trust me!

My thought exactly!!

And one more question for those who have recently gone through this stuff. When checking on the visa, do they give you a # at the interview to check the status or is there something I should be researching beforehand to keep with my list of info?

You got the A# on your NOA1. It follows you throughout.

Ells - were you asking about the DHL tracking number?? If so, you get that when you pay the dhl fee.

Mawnin Yardies and Happy Friday! What are the plans for the Holiday Weekend?

Morning all!

We’re q’ing out. My cousin’s boyfriend and my uncle belong to motorcycle clubs so tomorrow we’re expecting about 150-200 bikers to show with some riding in from Maryland. It’s a beautiful site to see all those bikes lined up. She’ll have her pool open and everything. It’s always a blast. Gotta go shoppin’ for a new outfit so that I can look fierce sitting on top of the bikes. Nope…I can’t ride one bit, but I always take nice pictures just sitting there profilin’. A always laughs at me because he knows I can’t ride but some of the pictures look like action shots like I’m actually doing it. laughing.gif

Sounds like fun!! I traded my motorcycle for children....

IT was backing up my files for my new laptop, so I took the opportunity to got to Walmart and get some new pots for my garden! Well let me tell you the recession has definitely hit the gardening section! The 10$ 10 gallon pots I use for my bananas are now 20.00 helpsmilie.gif so I had to use my Recessionista skills and get my $ worth! So I searched for the higher end pot I paid 20.00 for last year and just bought that one because there is no way on earth I will pay 20.00 for them pots and I know are only worth 10$ no0pb.gif

I am a Gardenista and I don't like to cut corners when it comes to my garden but this is getting ridiculous. People want to know why I buy my plants wholesale from the Philippines, this is exactly why!

It's early may and my Garden is looking like the gully, now my Hubby knows why I spend so much time out in the garden. He now spends as much time as me smile.gif I'll take some pics this weekend when I should have everything situated!

Z - you are still my garden inspiriation!! I can't wait to see the pics. A was talking the other day about planting banana trees and sugar cane. Hmmmm....

Hey Island,

Its hard work but I love it! I can hook you up with one of my gardening buddies here in the US that can send you nanas. I have planted Sugar cane for several years but havent this year, I didnt request any from the Philipines this time it took forever to grow last year! Guess what ?? I kept complaining about this tree in the yard that is on death's door with limbs continuously keep falling and is blocking my sun. Well Hubby heard my cries, do you know I had the best surprise when I got home last night, he cut down the limbs on the tree! the tree has to be 30-35 feet tall but he climbed it and chopped it up for me. That was the most thoughtful thing! My Neighbor ( the Cat Dr Mrs Bootsy even sad that's love girl) heart.gif biggrin.gif

Hook me Girl, hook me!!! Thanks.

That is love!!! That man is rocking. luv.gif

Jgay - my son is 11. We are now getting to a point where we try to respect each other's privacy (especially now that A is here and I have to be more conscious about closing the door) but when/if he does see me with my undergarments on I don't think he thinks anything sexual about it. He is usually acting grossed out about it and will turn and walk the other way. But really undergarments are not much different than a bathing suit and that's socially acceptable.

hmmm, never thought about it that way island..

Well I remember my first trip to JA and A would walk around everywhere with his underwear, stand on the balcony with them on, etc. and I was appalled. Then we go to the beach and I see guys swimming in theirs and girls swimming in skimpy clothes and thought hmmmm...not much different than a bathing suit so I chilled. Now I love to see that easygoing-ness. Sometimes I think our culture tends to get a bit prude.

offtopic45vn.gif I have a general question and would like to know your opinions...anyone and everyone please feel free to answer...

Question: Do you feel it is inappropriate or disrespectful if a mother walks around her son, say age between 5-10 years old with just undergarments on...do you think a boy that age would look at their mother in a sexual manner if she walks around them like that....

This is jgay80 but felt bored and decided to change my userid and picture...Stone is my "new" last name which is how i derived to StoneLove.... biggrin.gif
