alright yall, i gotta get on the road to head to work BUT i guess i will post this question now so when i get to my desk in about 45 mins or so maybe someone can provide insight. SINCE me and dwayne have been waiting for months for the corrections to his ID and birth certificate so they match and seem to be getting no where with that, as we need these to apply for a passport, i was given a suggestion by a ladie who i met on the plane and has lived in JA for 15 years, (a) have him apply for a drivers license, though he doesnt drive and use that ID with the BC to get his passport, ( cool.gif send him some cash and have him attempt to bribe someone to magically make the corrections happen or © just apply for a new ID???

I need a refresher Honey. The ID that is incorrect is his TRN id, like our social security #'s? His birth certificate is correct though right. What has been done to correct it so far? I know he did something and has been waiting months to get it done.

Good Morning Dear God;

What a year many of us have been dealing with. Lord, I reach out to you this morning, not only for myself, but for many of my sisters who are (going through it)...what ever it may be. Lord, we stand in unity. The devil is steadily trying to knock down our front door. Lord, we know with your strength and wisdown that all things are possible. Lord, I ask that you watch over our sisters that are in Jamaica right now, that you be with them and their families during the interview and return them here safely. Lord, please give us the strength to work through the many struggles that we're facing right now. We know that nothing comes easy and without a fight a full faith in you.

One day at a time, Dear God...on step at a time...one prayer at a time. Dear God, all these things I pray to you in Jesus precious and holy name...AMEN!

Amen. Thanks Lawny, it's been awhile since we had a Monday morning prayer.

TL, It really does feel good to be home in my own bed. I guess I'll get to have it to myself for two more weeks. LMAO

Checking flights for Ray now and playing around with dates. lol

Thanks Manya for picking me up from the airport. Your so good to me. My poor sister gets lost everywhere she goes in Virginia so I'm glad Manya came to scoop me up so late at night.

Sus, gym???? I'm so tired of eating rice and chicken I don't know what to do. lol Get your tail out of the house girl.

This was one of my best tips ever. 1. Because we were approved and spent a good amount of time together just Ray and I 2. because I did absolutly NOTHING. Pure relaxation.

Also, because I was able to meet Island, Honey and their SO's. Everyone was so nice. I wish I would have spent more time with them, but maybe we'll get a chance to here in the states....

Sus, Shades is off the hook. I stayed to see the midget and wanted to vomit with all the anybody come get some sex acts. Yuck! I'm glad I was able to experience it though.

That's normal. He will have a lot of those moments for a long time. I'm happy for them.

Well, yes, you need to save money for all sorts of things. But, you could be in for a long wait till interview. I guess you have to weigh it all and see what you can do.

Hi Tre. It's all good. I took a ride to look at a house this morning after my exercise class. A friend of mine is buying up Auction houses. We looked at one that was small but nice. Today's was much better. He's going to try and win it and then we'll do a rent to own for a few years and then apply for a loan and buy it from him. Cross your fingers.

I agree with JG Shrewie, you need to weigh it. I know sometimes we have to get the visit in there, even if its a short one, otherwise we start getting off track with each other.

That's exciting JG!! I hope it goes well for you.

You buy the console and it comes with a controller and nunchuck controller. You have to buy extra controllers separate so that more than one person can play - unless it's only you. There are TONS of games for it. Anything you can imagine - sports, racing, kids games, fighting, adventure, fitness...TONS of games. The console itself comes with 5 sports games included: Baseball, Tennis, Bowling, Boxing and Golf. Then we bought an expanded pack with a controller that had 9 extra games that help you get used to how to use the controllers - air hockey, shooting range, fishing, bullriding, billiards etc. Then you add games from there.

There is games like Mario Kart (racing) where you buy a racing wheel and put your controller into the wheel so that when you play you are using the wheel and it feels more like driving. They have Wii Fitness which has a balance board that you do exercise on and it weighs you and keeps track of your stats and things. There is all types of fitness - yoga, pilates etc. Haven't tried it but it looks really cool.

All in all I found the Wii very easy to set up (I did it by myself) and very easy and fun to play. It isn't going to get you majorly active but you definitely do get more active than any other game system. My sister has a Wii with tons of games and loves it. The only negative thing that I have found with it so far is that they *can* have a tendancy to overheat. You just have to make sure it has proper ventilation and you don't leave it running all the time or just buy this simple console holder thing that has an extra fan.

Whew...and that is my consumer review laughing.gif

Thanks Yard - I knew you had in it ya!!

Really Island!! How does it work do you buy one console that only one game can work on or can multiple games work with it? I've thought of getting one.

Mi naw know!!!! wacko.gif I didn't even know which one to pick at the store - lucky the geeky guy knew everything about it. I do know that it's like a regular gaming console where you can buy multiple games to play on it.

But Yards is the expert - fill us in Chica!!

Ok since you are all talking about school and education I just had to come on here and be the proud Mom that I am. I had parent teacher conferences last night for my daughter who is in 1st grade. She got really good marks and her teacher said that she is is starting to read a second grade level. She said she is doing great in Math also and they are testing her to be in the gifted and talented program. Just wanted to share.

Congrats!! That is something to be very proud of. You should pat yourself on the back.

good.gif I agree. A and I always talk about the differences and I feel like JA as a whole has a better education system. Children seem to be well ahead of grade level when compared to their US counterparts (like Lawns was saying) and I really like that there is still religion taught and recognized in schools in JA. Children in JA have more respect for teachers for the most part and are much more disciplined from what I have seen. I don't have any personal experience but just from what I witnessed or have heard from some teacher friends in JA I think the JA education can be better than a US education - especially in the younger years.

good.gif and that's why I sent Kimora to Catholic school...

LOL..its funny my best friend say the same thing.. she lives in DC so we usually only email (u know me and this phone LOL) and she says I can HEAR u talking in ur email.. laughing.gif

i hear that also about the respect for authority in JA.. I wish it was better here.. Kids have no problem cursing in front of elders or not saying excuse me or not letting women take a seat on the bus.. stuff like that..

Hmmm...I see that as parent responsibility, not teachers. Kids should be taught manners when they first learn to talk.

And if you follow through with that, how do you explain the violence and disrespect for people, people's lives/personal property and police/authority in JA? (Not plugging on you Quanna, just going with the thought.)

My cousins went to public schools in different areas of Trelawny, and did very well. Most of them ended up at UWI and then on to other universities here in the states. It depends on the the area I guess. I can only speak for schools in my area of Trelawny and ones that I'm familiar with. There's a website that a friend of mine was looking at that gave reports of the different school in each Parish. Let me see if I can find her number.

That would be perfect if you could give me that website. Thanks!
