Sorry, I wasn't back earlier to respond to the question about do I feel that some comments that have been made about the JA man, has been made in such a manner that it gave the impression, that he should tow the line because I brought you here.

What I find is that not everyone understand what it means for this Ja man to now be in the US and now he is now cosidered under the label of Africian American. Being a black man in this country is hard. Every movement and action of his is judged at a 200% level, where a white man is judged at 80% level.

I have always said when you are judging a black man, you are also judging a black woman, because that black man was birthed by a black woman.

I will allways judge a black man by the way he treats his mother, if he treats his mother like shyte, then in my book he will treat his woman the same way.

I agree with this about all men.

Hey ladies I just got home from work and let's stir up this conversation devil.gif devil.gif. I grew up in the South where Prejudice still remains and unchecked most of the time.

Because no matter what color we are, we are all sisters.

(I'm trying to follow Kimmy's rules so I'm cutting your quote.) You ain't kidding about the south!! I had my first "lesson" in racism in the south as a kid. I had a great-aunt who lived in Georgia and we would spend 2 weeks with her during the year. I remember the first time I was called a white cracker - I had no idea what it meant. And I remember she was driving up to the Piggly Wiggy grocery store, and as we drove right by I asked her why we were not stopping and she told me that was the one the blacks went to and we wouldn't go to that one. I had to ask my mother for an explanation on that but I remember losing alot of respect for that woman that day....

Amen Sister!!

I get whats shess saying though. I think some take in the culture without the language. I take in the language as much as I can, cause we all know that Patois is a HUGE part of the culture and for me its just something me and Evan would like to speak in our household and to future children to help him preserve his culture. But I think others may do other things that help preserve the culture/

I find that the more I push myself to learn about his culture, the more understanding we have of each other. Alot of times he will do something or say something that means one thing in my culture, but something different in his. Like for instance the other day could've been 2 years ago...

It is a black white question for whoever asked. mi know for a fact many of the posters won't answer this honestly and some will get offend...and why? it's like i feel a change when one of the girls who is White reveal themselves or some get jumped on by saying a simple statement. i just hate it when some White women act more superior than their Black men of any race as if they are God's gift to the world. But, I have come to the conclusion that it's often not the womens fault but the fault of the man who make it seem as though they have discovered gold when they meet/marry/courting a White woman. A woman is a woman no matter the color of her skin. And don't get it twisted this is the same for out White Jamaican women.

I have never seen this in action and can't ever imagine doing it, but I guess it probably does happen. Did something happen that you witnessed recently Kimmy that stirred you up? I can't imagine feeling superior over any race - and when I think of the past in regards to slavery, I'm disgusted to be white. But I can't change the past, only the future.

Anthony and I just had this conversation when I was in Jamaica. I know I have talked to JG about this in the past as well. When I'm in Jamaica with him, the guys are hi 5ing him and such, one guy said "black and white - nice colors." But I can feel the daggers being thrown in my back by the woman. On one trip I had an older woman walk up to me and curse me out because I am a white woman and he is a black man, therefore I shouldn't be with him. I was shocked! I'm so much more aware of our differences in JA than in the states.

Good Morning Everyone!

For those who are not aware of my saga--my fiance and I got a blue slip at our K1 interview on Nov. 12 because they had not yet received our medical (which my fiance opted to have sent instead of him picking it up in person) and we did not have the affidavit of support completed. We have since overnighted everything and the embassy has received them.
Anyway, someone just called my fiance this morning from the embassy and according to my fiance he was told to call back at a given number when he has "all the paperwork together" He said okay and then called me. I am beyond upset and ready to call it quits. All he had to say was everything has been sent and when can I bring my passport. WHAT DO I DO NOW! He has tried calling that number back after talking to me and he cannot get through to anyone. I am tired of yelling at him

My suggestion would be to have him keep trying to call and you keep sending them e-mails. Somewhere along the way the message will get through. If he does talk to someone make sure he asks what exactly they are looking for - maybe there is one other stupid thing they want.

I don't think so Sus - you need to produce a copy of the divorce decree though. I saw that somewhere, but I can't remember. Maybe on the RDG website???? They explain it as the non-impediment as a certificate saying you have never been married, which is not DJ cuz he has been. Therefore he needs to prove he is divorced.

See how easy it can be to save money in Jamaica. Sometimes he was laid off for months. Marcel told me he use to pick breadfruit, sugar cane, mangoes and ackee and sell them on the side of the road. It was something him and his friend did when they got laided off. He tried his best not to mess with his savings. I told him it would take me a while to save up that money. He said you either want to juggle/hustle or you don't. He said he had noone to help him so he had to help himself get ahead.

He is a wise man.
