i hate being sick, im pretty close to miserable as i can get right now, and yet i dont feel like laying in bed all day. We are having some freakish weather today, the sun is shining and it is supposed to hit 58 or 60 degrees which in michigan is like a heat wave...

Take your blanket (and your snotties) and sit outside. You need some of that fresh air and sunshine to feel better.

Sus, unfortunately he has a suck #### job, so he has the same day off every week and he isnt permanent staff, though he has been at his resort for over a year, so there is no sick days, calling off or vacations.. i keep telling him he needs to quit and look elsewhere. His spvsr he had initially was cool and would hook his schedule up so he could work days or have a day off when i came to visit, but that spvsr has since left and went to work at Turks and Caicos so we pretty much have to work with whatever schedule he gets sad.gif

I have never been to Kingston, though that is where D is from, we keep saying if he ever gets a decent day off we will go to kingston to visit his mom.

Careful with that though Honey...right now any job is better than no job.

Most of our SO's will be here probably by the end of the year... we could do it maybe around November. A time that will give us enough to save and really have a good time... What do ya'll think??

Sunray had mentioned this awhile back - had our cruise boat all picked out for us! JG won't get on a boat though - maybe we could find that drug they always used to give Mr T to get him to fly. I find November is a good for travel cuz it's cheap!

Yep. And, even when you think you talked about EVERYTHING, something pops up and surprises you all the time.

Who are you telling???? I always tell people we are still adjusting.

That is with ANY marriage. I was married just shy of 10 years to my ex - constant adjustments. We went to school together so there was no culture issues but we still couldn't make it.

I think what Mrs Smith was saying (if I may Suzy) is that she is warning all of us to not walk into this thing with our eyes closed. We appreciate that advice as well as all others from the "experienced" gals like Shemmy and JG and Sonny. I say the eruption that happened 2 weeks ago when someone popped in here with their eyes clouded over this.

I'm like a sponge when you guys post any experiences. I try to learn as much as I can (like what Lawny uses so much vaseoline for.. whistling.gif ) in order to save my head from getting one more gray hair and having one more day of happiness.

Thanks Portland - it's different when you go to JA 4-5 times a year visiting your man.

Just because my current relationship consists of visiting, doesn't mean I don't know what I am talking about or I haven't been through some of the exact same issues in the past with another man - Regardless of whether I am visiting or not - If I accept something now, then I can't expect my man to become this whole new person when he moves and change his behaviors - Now is the time to discuss these issues - not after they arrive.

i have dated my different share of man, thinking that it would be lessons learned for the future, but if you have never dealt with someone from another country before it is different, bottom line................You can discuss with your man all you want before he gets here.... that is just talk................ACTIONS that is what it comes down too.... I was on vacation when I met my spouse, and everytime I visited I was on vacation.... Him coming here I was not on vacation, I am here making a living , paying bills, sacrificing .... Until they arrive here and see America is not throwing free stuff at u and money does not grow on trees... well u know where I am going with this.....

I'm know I'm late jumping into this conversation ....but this is a good point here Mrs Smith. I tell A that it's different when I go there cuz I'm on vacation and have no responsibilities - I get up when I want, sleep when I want, eat when I want, etc. Here is all about schedules - my work schedule, my kids schedule, etc. We have a play money there that we won't necessarily have weekly here because I have been saving and saving for that vacation.

Like everyone says....you can try to cover all these bases before hand but I'm sure it's impossible to anticipate everything. I figure you just have to make sure to keep on communicating.

Hanging with the fellas...How often do you think a man should hang with his friends after he has left JA?

QUOTE (Hotlegz @ Feb 4 2009, 07:13 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Wakey/Jgay..if it's a"problem" now maybe it will always be a problem..do not put things on the back burner and find excuses to justify a behavior. U have to teach ur husbands what is acceptable and what is not..u have to be realistic..some behaviors don't go away when they find jobs they sometimes can get worse..they can find other things to occupy their time...

I wish 1 person on here would share her story...

Kimmy and Lawny I hear you... sad.gif crying.gif

Ok Ladies... I read this yeaturday and to be truthful, my heart just sank.. I wanted to respond to this post so bad but really didn't have the heart to. I didn't want to bring any doubts or worries to ANYONE here. I decided that maybe I will share my story.. I'll keep it short as possible blush.gif

Wakey the tooic you chose last night is one that I know all too well... Lived it everyday for about the last year or so. My husband was one to hang with his friends more than hie did with his wife... As he met friends that where here from JA also he began to hang out, with was ok because we all need some "me time". I was happy for him because I knew it helped him to adjust being that he had someone from home to relate to.

As time went on his hanging out became a problem to our marriage to where there would be arguements which usually ended up with me being vexed to the max, and most time... him still gone anyway... He thought it was ok to hang out with them until 3-330 in the morning on friday and sat pretty much every weekend. Ok to hang out with them pretty much everyday after work. Even on quite a few big Holidays..

He would always say yuh fuss suh much!! Mi nuh do nuting wrong mi come home tuh mi yaad to yuh everynight... So I figured I would try and easy up myself give him a little more room and try not to say much... You know "COMPARMISE". But he never tried to make things any better. He felt he wasn't wrong. My husband was a good provider for me, he gave me any and everything I wanted and then some, all except one thing.. His time. He gave about 80% of his free time to his friends.. The other 20% or less went to me. He felt that he gave me money all the time along with other things and that I shouldn't have a reason to complain.. He didn't understand that I MARRIED him for him and not his money.

Well the end result to this is... I came home from work last month to find him and all his things gone. He moved out.

Thanks for sharing with us Sonny - we need the good, the bad and the ugly on here. This is real life. Hugs to you Girl. rose.gif

I like the call history provided by ringyard tho... how important is call history in proof of relationship?

Yes, it will be a different #. We have certain times of the day we talk so he just uses his main chip, but pops the 2nd chip in when it's time to talk with me.

So I signed up for RingYard today good.gif

we BLEW through the 1000 minutes on the digicel "International Plan" in 2 WEEKS headbonk.gif

Japrincess - have him go buy another chip for his phone - it's like $500JA and put another 1000 international minutes on that. Way cheaper than Ringyard that way.

Ok yardies... 2 questions: helpsmilie.gif

1. Is there anything extra (besides the courier fee) to pay for at the interview? I have seen where a fee of $131 or its receipt is being asked for.

2. Do they give you back all of your original documents at the time of the interview or when they send the visa??

I believe these are my last 2 qestions. I'm preparing a list for the hubby to take and I need to make sure all bases are covered. I am feeling pretty good about his interview.

Thanks in advance!!

Do you have to pay the interview fee if you are CR1? Better check with Jgay. If so you have to pay at National Commerical Bank - we went to the Jamaica National Bank 1st time. Guess A got his nationals mixed up... headbonk.gif

She is 7 and I have been taking her since she was 1 1/2. She doesn't really care for any of the food so most of the time we are getting her Burger King or KFC....ICK!!!!

I feel this! My kids ask all the time when can they go to JA with me, but I tell them that they would starve cuz they don't like the food and I'm not eating Burger King and KFC the whole time. I made beef stew a couple weeks ago and both my kids refused to eat it. My son took one bite and said "Mom, I'm tired of eating Jamaican food." blink.gif I said beef stew is as American as apple pie!! headbonk.gif

rofl.gif :rofl:thats my oldest!! our kids are mirror images of each other iw..i remember u saying ur youngest is attached to u at the waist..

I wished the mister could meet some friends, he hangs out with my friend husband but he doesn't understand when he talks and always asking him what he says, and he is so shy. I wish he would meet some friends. Just now he was using my #### to bounce his tennis balls (I was going to say to bounce his balls but I just realized that some may get the wrong idea so let me spell out what kinda balls)

LMAO.. that is cute.. I'm sure he loves the bounce back the balls are getting when he throws them rofl.gif

A job soon come.

lol, yeah, since it is like throwing on a wall..

LOL - I was going to say the same thing - Portland doesn't have any bounce back. rofl.gif
