I just don't know if I like or believe in the general premise of this idea that Jerusalem is synonomous with Israel. Is that what you meant?

My husband got a certificate of celibacy from his local gov't office which proved that he has never been married before. They call it the certificate of celibacy. Cute right?

Middle East and North AfricaWho are you??
Hiya all, I'm Mariah, like the singer but without the valuable pipes. I'm a LPN currently in long term care, and a nationally certified massage therapist.
I have an 8 yo daughter, Eliana, to a previously wretched marriage and I live with my mom and brother but pay a heck of a lot for a little babysitting.... My husband, Amer, is a slave welder/fabricator/refrigeration extraordinaire for his brothers Catering Supply Company in Jordan where he is also a lifetime Gaza/Jordanian refugee.

And I see Mrs Amera already hit on Jen, which was exactly what I was thinking... can we make it a trip for three or four if Hanouna wants to take lead and write us a grant ? star_smile.gif I still need to see Europe, India, China, UK, Peru, Brazil, Russia, and S. and W. Africa, Thailand and...... oh yah Nepal I'm willing to work my way through all these countries, literally.

Peace,
Mariah

Seems such a shame that this is worthy of concern sad.gif
I would ask my husband not to shave, but he usually shaves or keeps his beard very short and trimmed.

Middle East and North AfricaNo no no no!!! He's being stationed in Gaza!!!
Really, he will be helping the people there, he is brave, he is smart, I feel he will be well protected since it's his duty to help people.
Inshallah, Israel is done dropping bombs now... and I don't think they want to spread themselves thin by creating further tensions with Egypt as well.

I pray for peace,

Middle East and North Africafaithful advice needed
I can understand your feelings... however it is best to NOT make decisions when you are angry or depressed. First of all, if she is reasonable and insists information must be passed to her ex husband, then it would be agreeable to work it out to pass it through you or in your presence at least... especially after a situation of the EX being VERY inappropriate. There must be truth that he is not clear about the boundaries of the relationship he now has of being the EX husband, so you are well within your rights to insist to at least be present during all communication.
I will add that, a few times my EX husband had sent me a photos like this. It was a big shock for me, and I was even single at the time. If my ex husband did something like that now that I am married I would be horrified and hope that my husband and I could work together to find a way to 'defend' our relationship from such a blatant attack.
I have no need to speak with my ex every day and don't see why ANYONE would TRULY have such a need. However, my husband even mentioned that my ex shouldn't even call my phone to talk to my daughter, and that was after he SAW me say, "please, call the housephone to speak with her, thanks, goodbye." And that was the first time he saw my ex call, so ...... I can forsee some issues between my husband and I on this topic and I am sure that my heart is white. However, as for my ex husband... he might be psychotic +/- some intermittant moments of clarity. Which confusion was compounded because I was kind, just stubborn to not return to the marriage.

Anyway, I encourage you to find some safe outlet for your anger (like talking to a trusted friend, exercising, strenuous labor...) and after you've exhausted your wrath in useful measures then take time to think about the whole situation in stillness. Remember, the easiest path isn't always right, and the right path is usually not easy. But it's always a learning experience either way.

May Allah be with you and bring you peace.
Respectfully,
Mariah

Middle East and North AfricaCR-1 Application Question
I wanted to say that YES you can send your application from egypt to USCIS, it will take approximately 6 months to be examined there and YES I sent a photocopy of both mine and my husbands passport with my original application. Once it's approved at USCIS it will get sent to NVC where you'll have to supply more documents to support an immigrant application (original birth certificate, original marriage certificate, copies of passport bio pages, and the Police clearance) along with the affadavit of support. After these papers have been approved (if you are prepared you can do this in one month) you will then be scheduled an interview with the embassy at their earliest convenience, which has been taking at least 2 months in general. So we are talking about nine months.
The main benefit that I see is that during this process, you can return home and just be seperated from your spouse until the visa is approved. Other than that I think direct filing at the consular is that you can FILE and wait a few months and get the visa directly. So if you are sick of waiting and want to go home, feel free to go home and wait for him to mail his passport pages so you can file with USCIS, if you don't want to be apart, then wait for his passport and file directly with the embassy.

Given the choice I would have stayed with my husband and filed directly, but my daughter is not allowed out of the country and I can't allow myself to be gone for longer than her summer visitation with her father.... and for Jordan residency is after a year.
Good Luck,
Mariah

Middle East and North AfricaCR-1 Application Question
You can't file anything directly to NVC, you would have to wait for USCIS processing which is supposed to take at least 6 months, some more, and some less. It sounds like you have no idea what you're talking about..... Good luck.

Peace,
Mariah

Middle East and North AfricaSCAMMED FOR A GREEN CARD
Sorry for your pain, there is a reason for everything which occurs, good and bad we MUST be supposed to deal with it. At least that's my 2 cents, I know it doesn't help now.
I was in a fraud marriage to a USC which was abusive and it's so hard to recover. I was with him for a long time and yes it was always fraud but I was never sure, always trying to be hopeful. Please take care of yourself, and find those who do love and care for you and lean on them now.

Peace,
Mariah

Middle East and North AfricaSugaring?
very interesting... however it did look like her skin was being pinched in the thread as well when the hair was getting pulled out which definitely is painful. Other than that it does seem just like tweezing. I don't find tweezing my eyebrows painful at all anymore so I'm willing to give it a go...

I like how she added, practice practice and watch out not to pull out the hairs you want wink.gif hehe

OUCH! Still have a scar that's horrible!! She's lucky you aren't sue happy. So could you fill me in on what is eyebrow threading?
MsMariahFemalePalestine2009-03-14 21:33:00
Middle East and North AfricaSugaring?
I tried waxing myself and was painfully unsuccessful. Also, I used to have my eyebrows done professionally but do beware of double dipping, it's nasty, in a pinch I went to one place where I get pedicures and she did waxing too, well she slobbed it on one side then before I could open my mouth, dipped it in again and slobbed it on the other. I broke out in tiny little whiteheads by the next morning. I was so traumatized that I haven't gotten a pedicure or a waxed anywhere since.
I know that wasn't helpful on sugaring but just wanted to say beware and good luck.

Middle East and North AfricaSMOKING CIGARETTES
DH doesn't smoke cigarettes but has argeelah a once or twice a week. I quit before I had my daughter from a previous marriage 9 years ago. So I only smoked from 17 til 20. I quit because I wanted to get pregnant and I made it a public display of quitting which helped me stick to it finally. Thanks to God. Neither of us drink, and if he gets corrupted here I will manage some sort of mental torture... wink.gif

BTW, my ex husband made a show of quitting when I did, however I came to find that he had been sneaking and lying to me for a whole year until I caught him (the sneaking mattered more than the smoking to me). I guess I was clueless back then but the direct from work to shower worked well for him. Still not sure what else he might have lied about...... La la la la la laaaa. He was an alcoholic too, that's why I don't drink anymore either.
One of the big reasons my daughter (and mother) now loves my current husband is because he doesn't smoke cigarettes or drink alcohol so he'll dissapoint three cuties if he does anything stupid.

I just have to say thank goodness for this advice, reading this thread and the link to Bumbelinas story made me sweat. My poor husband even had to get a phone call at work just to be able to know how crazy I am and tell me just sleep already and he'll see me after work.
As if it's such a major thing letting someone in this country, you think they're doing this for our safety and concern... to me they just want their ducks in a row for people here to make money, pay taxes and keep the federal reserve and bankers raking in their big bucks. BTW the terrorists have sponsors other than a pitiful american husband or wife with debt and possibly children to feed. They get in with money and student visas, it isn't half as hard. So much for protection, this is definitely all about money and discrimination. Shame. Shame. Shame.

Middle East and North AfricaFriday - First day of Spring!!!
Yah it's spring, but here in NW Pennsylvania we woke up with a thick dusting of snow. My daughter was are pickled up about it, I had to laugh. I've seen it snow all the way into May up here. My DH asked where I am taking him to live... like the polar icecaps. Hehe.
\
And if my DH was spending time chatting and on social networks sites I'd be all worked up because he barely has time with working at least 12 hours per day and gym every other day, plus now he has to go to netcafe to talk with me. He's the one who always asks me what the heck I'm doing on here and if I am chatting with guys via messenger. I did almost quit talking to any other guys online, and my social sites are pretty much for relatives and high school girlfriends. He's still a bit nervous, and since he's not so PC savvy it compounds it, he doesn't know how to keep tabs on me. Anyway, have to keep it all honest. If you tell your spouse something makes you uncomfy then he better remedy it or it's a big step in the wrong direction on a good relationship.

Middle East and North AfricaUpdate on Amal's mama
Amal, I feel for you and your family. It's good to hear that everyone is optimistic. Amal, the chemo has to be strong because your mom's cancer has metastacized (spread) apparently from her colon to her lungs and leg. That means it became carried by her blood supply, they have to do a strong course. Colon cancer is a more common type in US these days and is strongly hereditary, it's important for you to eat lots of fiber and fruits and veggies to promote good colon health and be sure to alert your doctor that your mother has this so that they may proactively order some routine screening and may even perform a procedure to check for polyps which is an early indication of a likelihood for this type of cancer. Again, my prayers go out for you and your family and be sure to ask your or your mom's doctor or nurse questions, sometimes it helps if you make a list of what you're wondering so you don't feel flustered by all the information you'll be getting at once.

S and S, what med is it? I know Inderal can be prescribed as migraine prevention... what are your usual Blood Pressures? Did the Dr agree that it can even be taken during pregnancy AT ALL? Have you tried any of the Triptans, the newer and more effective drugs aimed at migraines like Imitrex?
I'm a nurse if you want to PM me, I'd be happy to talk about it with you.

And about Jill, I do understand why he wants you to observe his culture while you are living there. It's quite a different thing to be out as a lone american than being out as a lone arabian woman. Obviously if his family observes this then he would get flack from them for anything else. And if you have needs of being with others or doing something then you will get resolution by sticking up for yourself. You've definitely stuck it out far better than I would have.
However, I do have to say that at least you have the net, my husband wouldn't get it set up for the 3 months I lived in Jordan because he said he wanted me all to himself, but really it's because I know he felt insecure about if men talk to me..... anyway Lord knows most men (and women) will control as much as they are allowed. Middle East and North AfricaMarie_Yahya our long wait
the fiance visa was a non immigrant visa which used to be processed much faster, so they allowed it to be linked to the spouse immigrant visa as a way to allow married people to be processed as fast as unmarried people. like a reward for being married.

But now the two visas do not have such a difference in time for processing.

Best of luck with your second attempt. Maybe you can apply for expedition for the whole earlier experience, and I've heard you might want to apply for that more than once before they allow it.

Middle East and North AfricaWTF AMMAN INTERVIW!!!!ARGHHHHHHHHHHHH
oh I'm so sorry, I know it was so hard to hear this... and have to wait a bit longer. So yes, sounds like a little more wait and document collection and then you aramex the things to the embassy and you can call them or email them to make sure they received the papers but since it's aramex, it will get signed for so you'll have proof of receipt. I know a lady this happened to, they wanted updated financial papers and after they sent them in they requested his passport and granted him the visa.

Overall though, the police report is important, and it's detailed that one must be obtained for everywhere the beneficiary has lived for more than 6 months.
The CO at my husbands interview was all about asking him the dates of my visits (and I even included the photocopies of my passports entry/exit stamps, boarding passes, hotel receipts and joint flat rental receipts in his IV application to NVC or in our original i130), and all about looking at the multitude of pictures and asking where they were taking and who all was in them. I also had affadavits from his and my family included in the original i130 application.
And also, make sure his passport has more than 6 months before expiry, as we were so lucky that I saw hubby's on my last trip and noticed he will have just 5 months so I made him update it, and sure enough the CO said 'congrats you have been approved give us your passport' he took it and looked and said 'hey your passport expires after just 5 months, I'm sorry but you'll have to update it' and my hubby said no no I updated it and it's on another page here, see! Whew... sorry if that was a lot to read.

So I believe that if they have an open door to question they WILL do it. And stay positive, it seems that you will get the visa after these last few papers are received.

Middle East and North AfricaGoing back to visit egypt after nearly 5 yrs
I know a great tour leader in Egypt, he knows people everywhere and he arranged a flat in Alex (which is my fav Egy city) for 1 week for 50$ or 300 LE, it was nice had an elevator, furnished everything, and a very cold refrigerator. Anyway, this guy is really the best, when I visited Egypt alone as a tourist on a whim, he took care of everything and I felt like a princess. The prices I paid were cheap compared to anything I've seen noted, and ... I took him or a couple of his friends out to eat a few times. smile.gif If you want his name and number just IM me. You can barter with him online, even better if you had your husband do it in arabic. BTW I would pay the 40$ or whatever to get the

I know the first time I went to egypt in January of 06 the price for my ticket was 780$ through...EgyptAir. The second time I went it was March of 07 and the price was 850$ through Delta. With Delta my flight was direct and much, much better not to make a connection in Europe. Also, if you are leaving via Cairo... I suggest a guide for 20$ to get you through there, their airport is wretchedly confusing and spread out among three distant buildings if you make a connection. With everybody who looks at you asking for baksheesh.

BTW, the Pyramids are just the icing on the cake of what to see in Egypt. You could take a trip to Siwa (Sahara Oasis) from Alex too and see the Cleopatra's fountain and the Alexander the Great's Oracle Temple and go fourwheeling through the Saharan sand dunes. The fountains are more like pools and naturally heated, perfect for swimming, ahhhhh. Anyway, I love Egypt, and the best part about it, are the Egyptians.

About his birth certificate you will have to get him to get more orginial copies preferably at least 3, you should also have him go to the courthouse and get at least three original copies of your marriage certificate as well, those are the two big ones which requirements are for originals.
I only say get more original copies of birth certificate because you will have to send one to NVC. I never sent an original or copy of his birth certificate with the i130, I just sent a copy of his passport....

Good luck
