Cool story, Lisa...now that you've told it, I seem to recall it...you may have mentioned it another time in a celebrity thread or summin.

Oh mannnnnnnn ....the BOSS. I would loveeee to meet him too. AND, just to show what a total geek I am, would love to meet John Bon Jovi too. ;) (Gawd, Craig hates Bon Jovi, so every time "Who says you can't go home" or whatever it's called comes on, I always tease him and turn it up...oh, our fave song is on..blah blah...

AHHHHH Delta Theme music!!! I like Bon Jovi but I heard that song one to many times on my last flight to and from! :)

Was his name Skeet Ulrich or something along that???

Ummm we've had several celebs around here. They occasionally film movies in these here parts! (western NC mountains)

Jodi Foster, Andi McDowell, Liam Neeson, Natasha Richardson, oooh here's one Burt Reynolds (ha), He used to have a house here.

Several others but it has been a while...no body spectacular. I didn't get to meet any of them but I've been to Berts house, and Jodi Foster was a complete ###### at that time in her life to most fans!

Even though it is 8:30 a.m. I'll have a pint of bitter please!

Mags...your cat photos KILL me!

I miss...and I am not even British drinking a pint with dinner. At a pub.

ya! And by dinner I mean lunch.

I get messed up when I come back...calling lunch dinner and dinner tea and ya...that.

Let me also very very quietly say that roundabouts and narrow roads are the reason I don't drive in England...But shhhhhh don't tell anyone.

United KingdomReally Dumb questions you've been asked about the UK

You can also tell a British a mile away with scary white skin in scary "holiday shorts" and bad hats, sandals with socks....."bum bags" too

Ok when i was in Orlando with my fiancee she said to me about Brits wearing socks and sandals, i said "what you talking about, its an American thing, not an English thing" so we had a bet the first to 10 on who wears socks and sandals, i won...more Americans wear socks with sandals...she was shocked

no idea why. But I can't stand socks and sandals.

United KingdomReally Dumb questions you've been asked about the UK
in regards to bad tourists...I try really hard not to complain to much because in the end it takes all kinds of people to make the world as diverse as it is.

Also in touristy towns they are what pays a lot of peoples salaries. I am really quite bored of the general labeling of cultures as lazy, fat, rude, stupid, arrogent etc etc etc. But that is just me.

I have been traveling back and forth to England since I was 13. Not to mention various parts of Europe and I've encountered lovely people all over. I also travel a lot in the states and I am always excited to meet tourists from other countries!

Anyway..enough of my rant. I am not stirring the ######. Just giving my view.

United KingdomReally Dumb questions you've been asked about the UK
I know several people who I would consider to know my story pretty well...the traveling back and forth to England to see Chris and all.
But flipping every single time I go or come back they ask me how London was. Or when you going back to London.
I sarcastically (but still trying to be pleasent) say "Well I haven't been to London since I was 13, but Yorkshire which is a few hours from London was GREAT"

But I have to admit I did a stupid American thing the first time I met some of Chris' friends at a pub. One of the guys asked me where I was from and I stupidly said "The US". LIKE DUH...of course you are. I hate it when people say that to me...when I ask where they are from.

United KingdomOne more milestone

Thanks ya'll! I was beginning to give up hope.

I feel a little sheepish because I just had a hard time coming here and watching everyone else whiz past us. I apologize for missing everyone else's recent milestones.

My fiance sleeps late but I'm calling him soon - if I wake him up, too bad!! :D

Freaking fianlly! I am going to make a thread....just cause.
Thanks for the PM

United KingdomCadbury's Dairy Milk

I'm a mint aero feind. My husband used to buy me one a day from the van when I was pregnant lol

I got my wife addicted to Mint Aeros. On my last trip to the UK (a couple of months ago) I brough back 2 packs of "snack size" and one huge bar. I'm happy to say the huge bar is still unopened. Its an addiction, but who knows the next time I can fulfill her order!

I get friends to send them now and again, as well as my Yorkshire Tea, PGTips and Tetleys because america tea is sooo weak compared to the stuff you get in the UK

Luckily Tea Bags come in large quantities in the UK! Only once in lving in the USA for 8 years have I had to resort to buying PG Tips from an import shop!

My Chris does the same thing with Delights. I Love those things and I am not much of a candy eater. But he buys a lot of them then we freeze them for when I get those cravings! Same with chunky kit kats for him!

 Yes - I know I'm just a big worrier!!! But this whole process does bring out the worrier in the most positive and calm people!!! :)

Well hockey season is over in June-ish anyway (after the playoffs) so it'd have to be next year!

That Irish pub in downtown Nashville (Seanachie's) closed a few years back. We can pick somewhere else though!

nah it is a different one...not sure if it is right downtown or not!
My friends plays the pipes there on the weekend.
I'll find out the name.

Stick by me and you'll learn fast. ;) There are always LOTS of hockey virgins around yet so you won't be alone.

Well it will be next year! For sure.
This year will be jammed with the wedding, other weddings, and perhaps maybe a honeymoon!!
I am excited!! We go to an Irish pub downtown a lot. Forget the name but perhaps that could be an option as well!

Yeah, I can deal with AOS. At least then I'll have my then new husband here with me. (L)

I would LOVE to hook up and go to a Preds game! We'll be all decked out in our jerseys. :D Let's make that a 'must do'. :)

and we will be the couple that stand out because we know NOTHING about hockey!! ha
I promise we will do it!

Yeah, he was excited. He said that he didn't know many people to call and tell about it - but he called everyone he could think of, including an expat friend of his who now lives in Texas. :)

Personally, I feel like a great weight has been lifted. I have had a numb left hand and left foot for the past month and a half solid (thanks to a pinched nerve bundle in my neck). Mirculously yesterday - nada. :)

Edited when I saw Amanda's post to say -- heck yeah!!!!!!!! I'll be calling my Preds ticket rep when I get back from London to add another ticket to my account for next season. :) :) :)

I am so happy for you.
You know that! This next part is easier I think!
Just looking at the AOS stuff this morning.

One day we will make it up to TN to visit my cousins and we will GO to a hockey game just to see you guys all excited about your team!

HEE you guys are great! It makes me smile that you two are as excited about our NOA2 as we are (is that even possible though? NAH!! :P

I'm thinking that I will call the NVC a week from today and see if its been there and gone, or what the deal is. Thought that'd be enough time for them to get it, give it the new case number and send it on its way - but we'll have to see.

My dear sweet Chas - sigh. When I called, he was asleep - he looked at caller ID and it said number withheld - so he thought I was a telemarketer and ignored me! He eventually got up and checked his emails, whereby he saw the approval email that I had forwarded to him. Then he called me. :D We had brewskis last night as we sat and talked. :) (L)

Now next hockey season you can enjoy brewskis together!!

United KingdomWhat kind of music do all you people like???

I can't believe I just stumbled on this topic! DUH.

Obviously, Chas and I met on a Rush message board, so we have that in common in a major way. We both generally like progressive rock and/or heavy metal. He gets a lot of credit for turning me on to Pink Floyd finally (after years of resisting them due to a bad memory/experience with a jerky ex boyfriend) - and for that alone, I'm eternally grateful.

We have a few bands that we appreciate on our own -but generally, our tastes are mostly the same! I guess I can thank our humble beginnings for that...! ;)

*smiles*

Wonder how many of us did meet through music!??

Loads of us, it would seem!!! :D

we are all so cool!!
