I am still waiting!

:crying:

I know! I look at the London timelines all the time, hoping to see someone new with a P4. It will probably come pretty soon for you guys. Be sure to let us know when it does!

Your stateside half can call the State Dept to see if you've been assigned an interview date yet. From DOS website:

For inquiries about visa cases and the application process call: 202-663-1225.

I called the other day, it's pretty painless. Five minutes of menus, maybe, then a couple minutes of holding to get a live person who is helpful. Of course we don't have our interview yet, but once we've waited more I think it will be more useful to call that number. Just be sure to listen to all the menus, because at the end of one of them they say how to get an operator. It's not automatic. Oh, and there's only live people during regular business hours.

*grin* the state side half is me!! So I will call! Thanks :) Can you tell me what kind of information you need when you call that number!? Please!! You are awesome!

All they wanted from me was LND case number and UK fiance's name.

What she said about my fiance's status was that London has the electronic file but not the physical one, and once they receive the physical file they will assign him an interview date. I assume that means they haven't entered his P3 stuff yet, but who really knows? I think it will be a lot more helpful once they do assign him a date, even if they're slow about mailing the P4. Other people have reported getting their interview date by calling State. Since you guys have been waiting a lot longer than we have, I think it might be more useful for you to call!

You are awesome! Thank you! If not today then first thing on Monday! :)

tick tock tick tock!

In other news....I ordered 6 (let me repeat) 6 pairs of (possible) wedding shoes today from Zappos today! Love that you can send them back!!

What other money should I spend???

Haha! YAY!! I got some wedding shoes which I have subsequently decided I don't like. Most of my spending is going for loose gemstones and silver settings on ebay so I can make my own necklace. That's an excellent way to pad your credit card bills.

My sister beads her own jewelry! She loves it. I actually have someone who is going to hand bead my shoes if I pick the right ones!

I found a place that can hand make some handkerchiefs as well. Might sound like a silly gift. But I've been to several funerals this past year. My mom, sister and I always would grab my dads bandana type red and blue huge kerchiefs. They would look horrible (but useful) so I think I am going to buy a few of those and give them to my mom and sister. I COULD buy those today! I wonder if this need to spend money comes from the annoying cramps I have!?

United KingdomTransferring funds to the U.S

anyone transfer through paypal??

Neal has sent me money through Paypal before, and they have twice randomly tacked on a rather large fee, so I'm not sure I trust them anymore.

good to know.

We are looking at fairly large amounts to transfer.
Thanks for the opinions!

Actually what FeatherB mentioned was interesting. I think we will take a few minutes to look at that.

Look at several of those commercial brokers. Some charge a fee others a lower exchange rate. Depending on the amount you are transferring it can be much better to pay a fee and get a better rate of exchange, or a mixture of both.

I booked an transfer today with MoneyCorp at $1.99.

thanks! :)

Except for small amounts why would you accept their poor rate of exchange.

well we have just started to look into transfering some money over...last time Chris looked it was 1.959%
HSBC was around 1.94. Plus their fee was insane. So in the brief look...Paypal seemed the better choice. Just curious if anyone has used this method. Months ago in OT someone did!

will this work?

Links aren't working but I am pretty sure I've been there!! Only once though and it has been a few years. Does it have an outside patio?

I wouldn't say that the immigration officers in Atlanta have been the friendliest, however we've never had a "negative" entry from there pursay. The longest I've ever had to wait for Chris was when he arrived on his K-1 in May. But that was to be expected. :)

We'd be up for an Atlanta area meet up. We are in Atlanta at least once a month!

I feel so...cheated

I only feel half cheated.

Perhaps they are updating.

The second time I flew delta...none of the movies worked at all....that freaking sucked. It was the longest flight in the world. I read a lot but it just wasn't using my time the way I thought it would!

I've never had any problems in Atlanta..perhaps I am jinxing myself now!

So there are several brits close or in Atlanta...Any good pubs Kaiser?

direct flight from Manchester

That's how I flew  unfortunatly you get the older planes on that flight. If you fly directly from Gatwick (I think that's what I did first time) it's a little cheaper and they had the individual screens on the back of the chairs, just in case you're picky about those things  Some time ago, so it might have changed now.

Ya know it is about half and half when I get the older planes with no screens in the seats. This last time with all of my inlaws they had a new plane. I do prefer the newer ones...I really watch the movies...I break it down by how many movies I can watch in the flight time since I don't sleep!?

Where abouts are you from if I haven't asked before?

We always use Atlanta at our POE...bar a few times through Charlotte.
Never had any hassel whatsoever.
When Chris arrived in May on his K-1 everything went smoothly except for a very crowded airport but what can you expect!

14 of Chris' family came through Atlanta a month ago as well. Wonderful really...direct flight from Manchester!
We don't live in Atlanta though. Actually 2 hours away in North Carolina. We are in Atlanta often though!

So you have somewhere near you that sells this stuff:

as opposed to this:

I'm officially envious. I actually buy it when I'm in the UK and bring it back to the USA because I've not found anywhere selling it for about 5 years.

I have both.
2 bottles of the top and a bottle of the bottom. I buy them at Bi-Lo's...BUT yesterday when I went they had NONE. (which is why I always buy it when they do. Just to stock up)
but what I do buy in england and bring them over in Quanity is the rice pancake paper to male basil rolls or spring rolls!
I can find them here...just not any where close to me. They are flat easy to pack and so I just bring them along.

mmm some chips....with some thai sweet chili...yummo.

Better than that is chips and Maggi Chilli Sauce, not the sweet Thai one they sell in supermarkets here, but the one from Malaysia which seems to be rare in the USA. Best Chilli Sauce in the world!

I have three bottles of it in my house! Maggi Taste of Asia. I buy it in mass quantities cause I am afraid I won't find it again! Although I can get it at our regular super market! I agree...I love it. Addicted to it.

mmm some chips....with some thai sweet chili...yummo.

Have you seen the new limited edition Pringles? Thai Sweet Chili flavour. Absolutely delicious!

I haven't seen those here!! Gonna have to look!
I am trying EVER so hard not to buy crisps....I am trying to be a good little monkey. (it's not really working)

sounds great! Nothing like a trip Out West. Colorado is one area me and hubs have not really done and would very much like to - though I once swung through to Boulder when my brother was living there. I think you will be near the Great Sand Dunes NP - I would very much like to see that!

Plan is to go to the Great Sand Dunes! I have a picture of my dad there in like 1975. Can't wait! Will be like nothing i've ever seen!

I just did another Southwestern Loop with a friend from Australia - LA-Vegas-North Rim of the Grand Canyon-Vermillion Cliffs-Bryce-Cedar Breaks-Zion-Vegas-LA. All in 5 days! Very scenic.
