K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresUrgent reply... Sputum test @ st. lukes

I need more opinions. Does anyone here have done Sputum test?

St.Lukes seen a small scar in my lungs.

I am scheduled to do my sputum test on May 24,25,26. They told me that after that I have to do a culture test for 8-10 weeks. My question is I noticed on my NOA2 that the petition will expire on 2nd week of August. DO you think I can make in on time?

Thanks

Sorry to hear that you have to wait for the TB culture.

Please don't worry about your NOA-2 expiration date. It is very likely that you will be able to interview before the second week of August. St. Lukes usually schedules another interview for you within one week after you get the results of your TB culture.

If you can not interview before your NOA-2 expires, the Embassy will renew it for four more months. The Embassy does not close cases like your case because it is actively being pursued.

Good luck! :star:

Hmm i am not sure if i can schedule that for her?, don't she have to wait to receive the packet and completing that before scheduling? Some say they will consider co-sponsor,.. :bonk: waaa i cant focus now.

Yup you have to wait for the packet, i hope it goes well for us, same shoes.. Well we just have to give it a try, the worst we could get is an rfe anyway.. But im pretty sure there will always be a way =D it will be ok!

Don't wait for a packet. The Embassy does not send a packet. They will send you an eligibility letter which tells you that you are eligible to schedule an interview.

If you don't want to wait for the eligibility letter and, if you want to speed things up, call the NVC and get your Manila case number and find out when they sent your petition to the Embassy. Then, wait about two weeks, pay the visa fee, and schedule your interview. The reason you need to wait for a couple of weeks is because the Embassy needs time to receive your petition and to enter it into their system. Once they have entered your case into their system, you are good to go. :star:

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresi-134 question 11 annual income help

hmm i'm $800 short, and i cant provide irs transcript b/c i was in the philippines for 5 years going to college for Nursing, i just got back may of 2010 and just got employed this feb 2011,well it be fine if i just provided a letter of employment and pay stubs?..i am also having my mother as my co-sponsor making above the poverty line for 8 people. Thank you

How did you figure that you are $800 short? When figuring out your 2011 annual income keep in mind that even though you will have worked only 11 months in 2011, you can annualize your income for the year.

Manila accepts cosponsors on a case-by-case basis. They seem to accept cosponsors if the petitioner is young, educated, upwardly mobile, and has a close relative sponsoring them.

It will help your case if you have a nursing degree. It would likely help you even more if you have already passed the NCLEX.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIs DS-160 Online Now required in the Philippines??

That's really strange. My USC fiancé told me, he call Manila embassy and told that I need ds-160 with proof of payment in order to schedule interview. I ask him today about this forum and he said that the embassy say fill out ds-160. I fill out ds-156 and ds-157 papers to. He schedule interview through ustraveldocs.com. I am scratching my head now!lol. Maybe it's mystery! But I confused now to!

I never posted until now, but my name is Monreal, I have watched this site for a year now. Hello everyone!

Hi Monreal...You've been lurking for quite a while...I'm glad you finally decided to post...welcome! :star:

I'm thinking that maybe your fiancé talked to the Embassy's call center. The call center is run by a new contractor, and they have been giving out a lot of bad information. Maybe this is why you think the DS-160 is required for K-1erz.

However, K-visa applicants do not use the DS-160. This information is at the U.S. Department of State website...click here.

According to the U.S. Department of State:

Visa applicants must submit a completed DS-160, Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application for all nonimmigrant visa categories (except for K, N, S, T, and U categories, which still use the Form DS-156, Nonimmigrant Visa Application).

Amen.

After the the U.S. Embassy Manila receives your sister's I-129F petition and enters it into their system, they will send your sister this eligibility letter either by email or by snail mail. The letter is a good source of information for K-1erz.

There is no document verification for K-1erz in Manila.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat items should I collect while waiting for noa2

As far me I don't have credit card/bank accounts and I'm not sure my fiance does either. She might. Also we're trying to avoid going to Phil if she can get things done from Jordan (where she is living).

In that case, your fiancée may have to have one of her family members or one of her friends who live in the Philippines get the CENOMAR.

I don't know if there's a local place in Jordan where you can get a CENOMAR. I kind of doubt it.

What's wrong with ordering it online? It looks pretty easy to me.

Or, you could always fall in line at your local NSO office in the Philippines.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresno packet from Mla embassy after 2 wks

The Manila Embassy does not send any packets per se. We just get eligibility letters (*or not get any*) LOL. I still don't have anything by mail except for the reply they sent yesterday to my email 2 weeks ago saying I am now eligible to schedule an interview ( which I already did last week)

You do need to fill out, download, and print the embassy forms (DS 156, 156K, 170) and bring it to the interview with you alongside the other requirements.

Good luck! :)

That's right, there are no packets. You just get an eligibility letter...or not! :o

K-1 beneficiaries need two copies of the DS-156, one copy of the DS-156K, and two copies of the DS-157.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresno packet from Mla embassy after 2 wks

And yes, you are subject to finish all the paper works before July 28, including the medical and interview. Its like you need to fly for the US not after July 28.

The USEM itself routinely extends the NOA2 deadline for four months if you are actively working toward your visa. If you are not actively working towards your visa, you can email the USEM and ask for a four-month extension to the NOA2 deadline. I'm not sure how many four-month extensions you can get.

Here is where i kinda got lost again  must be due to all the excitement lol. ok, so the eligibility letter that was received by jameugiekaxavilon is what people refer as packet 3? Does the packet contain anything else (instructions, directions, forms, etc) aside from this letter?

Some people refer to the eligibility letter sent by the USEM to K-1 beneficiaries as Packet 3. However, technically speaking, the USEM does not have a Packet 3 for K-1 beneficiaries. The eligibility letter (Packet 3) is here.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresno packet from Mla embassy after 2 wks

oh so you mean to say that the packet DOES NOT CONTAIN the information found in the website? only information for scheduling the interview?

The embassy must have the package in their system first then, before I can schedule for an interview even without this notification of eligibility? As long as the application is in their system, Im good to go to schedule for an appointment? Im being redundant, but my head is really spinning on the next steps

Thanks and best regards xx

If your K-1 petition is entered into the USEM's system, you can schedule an interview. There is no need to call the Immigrant Visa Unit at the USEM nor the USEM's call center to find out if your K-1 petition has been entered into their system. You can simply try to schedule an interview appointment online or through the call center. You will be allowed to schedule an interview once your K-1 petition is entered into their system. Just make sure to pay the visa fee before you try to schedule an interview appointment. After you pay the visa fee, give it a day or two before you try to schedule an interview appointment so that the USEM has enough time to update your payment into their system. It is not necessary to have an eligibility letter.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresno packet from Mla embassy after 2 wks

Hi VJ family! My fiance called NVC a few days after he had received the hard copy of the NOA2; he was told that our application was forwarded to Manila Embassy on April 4th, and gave him our MNL case number. Fiance asked me to check with the consulate office. Since I have not received the packet yet, I called the embassy on the 15th, although I was not really sure if the approved expeditious request extended to the consulate stage, I thought that 2 weeks should be enough time for them to receive/ review our package. I spoke with a customer service representative – I was asked of our names (petitioner & beneficiary); my passport number and its validity date; date of my last entry in US; and our MNL case number. It was a breeze; until I asked them if there is any way I could check if our application had reached their office yet. We went round and about -- they said that the embassy will send me a notification of eligibility which should be my go signal to schedule an interview; I asked again when I could expect for that mail, they said there is no definite lead time, and would depend on their work load. I pressed for my initial question, which is how I could find out if the approved application from NVC had reached their office. I was finally told that I can just email to follow up and ask if it is being reviewed already.

I’d like to ask if this happens normally? Ive seen other timelines and noticed that it just takes days for beneficiaries to receive the packet from the local embassy since their packages were forwarded by NVC. I was even more surprised to read from the flowchart that it only takes 5-7 working days to be received and less than a week to send to beneficiary the forms and checklist.

Had anyone else experienced the same?

My other question pertains to the validity date stated on NOA2. Ours is from 3/28/2011 to 07/28/2011. What does this mean pls? Am I given until July 28 to finish all paperwork, including obtaining the medical and K1visa and should depart for US on or before that date?

Thanks again for any clarifications you can help me with!

It is normal for a K-1 petition to take more than two weeks from the time it leaves the National Visa Center (NVC) until the time the U.S. Embassy Manila (USEM) receives it, enters it into their system, and sends a letter to the beneficiary saying that the beneficiary is eligible to schedule an interview (Packet 3). Sometimes the eligibility letter never arrives.

That's what happened in our case...neither the petitioner nor the beneficiary ever received an eligibility letter. We simply paid the visa fee and called to set an interview appointment.

There is no need to worry about the validity date of the NOA2. If you are actively working towards acquiring your visa, the USEM will routinely extend the deadline for the NOA2. Setting an interview appointment is one of the things that you will do to show the USEM that you are actively working towards a visa. In cases where there is no movement forward in the visa process and an extension of the deadline is needed, you can email the USEM and request an extension of the NOA2 deadline.

oh the customer representative also said that the "notification of eligibility" that I would receive will be sent AFTER the consul had reviewed and approved the application. May i ask if this is accurate pls? This notification of eligibility is what most people refer as the packet 3, where forms and instructions are attached? :help:

much thanks again!

You are correct, the eligibility letter is considered to be Packet 3. However, I don't think the consular officers actually review the K-1 petitions before the USEM sends out an eligibility letter. As I understand it, it simply takes the USEM time to enter the K-1 petitions into their system. Once they are entered into their system, an eligibility letter is sent out.

Click here to see the eligibility letter (Packet 3).

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAffidavit of Support

Thanks for the reply. Sure, he will be filing later part of the year yet. Consequently, we cannot proceed to the next step or interview as yet without the updated ITR, right? What do you think the allowed period or duration (# of months) if we opted to delay my interview? Will the month of September or October still possible for interview ? What about the expiration of medical results? How about the approved petition, will it be expired? I'm so sorry for asking too many questions. My Fiance is also not knowledgeable on the process. I am also thinking of delaying our timeline since I am not ready to leave work as yet. Just didn't expect our NOA2 to came out quickly. I hope to leave sometime in November or December yet in case I get visa -- God's will.

Hope anyone could be of help to us so we can make our timeline or schedule realistic in consideration of the information above.

Thank you so much and God bless ! :D (F)

If you plan to interview several months from now, you can call or email the Embassy and tell them that you are still pursuing the K-1 visa and you plan to interview this coming fall. The Embassy will have no problem granting you an extension of your NOA2. They just want to know whether you are still working toward your visa.

You can complete your medical just before your interview, then you won't have to worry about the expiration date. I can't remember, but I think the medical results are good for either six months or a year.

Best wishes on the rest of your journey! :star:

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow long should I wait before I receive a letter of eligibility (PI)
I vote not to wait for the eligibility letter. Also, you don't even really need to email or call the Embassy in order to find out if your physical file has been received and entered into their system.

Instead, simply wait two weeks from the time your physical file leaves the NVC, then pay the visa fee and begin trying to schedule an interview every day either online or by phone. When your physical file has been entered into their system, you will be able to schedule an interview.

Note: If you are scheduling an interview by phone and the call center agent asks you whether you have received your eligibility letter, tell them that you have received it already. Then, if your physical file has been entered into the Embassy's system already, you will be allowed to schedule an interview by phone even though you don't have the eligibility letter.

By the way, if Chinook had waited for her eligibility letter, she would still be in Bacolod. She never received an eligibility letter.

Best wishes for the rest of your journey! :star:

Hi Tahoma!....hope you (2) are well. We are in AOS fun now....Filed AOS on 5/21 NOA's on AP EAD and 485 5/24. Checked the case status today and saw Floricel's I-485 was transfered to CSC on 7/7. Which is awesome, as that probably means NO INTERVIEW. Bad news, the ASC here in St Paul is WAAYYYYY back-logged, we have yet to recieve the Biometrics appointment letter :(. The local ASC is at 8+months for I-485's so I am extroplating that the bio's are probably running 2-3 months...uggghhhhh. Oh well this is a breeze compared to the K1. : )

Good to 'see' you still providing sage advice here on VJ. Ingat,

Idaho.

Sorry to hear about the backlog for your AOS. Waiting for that first green card is no fun. But that's great news that you won't have an interview. We weren't so lucky, but the interview was really easy.

We're doing great. We filed to remove conditions last month and completed the biometrics last week. Chinook is probably going to go for citizenship next year to complete the circle. After that, hopefully there will be no more paperwork and fees.

It's nice to see you here again on VJ...don't be a stranger! ;)

Yes, she will need to wait until the embassy recieves the packet and enters the data into the system before she can pay the fees and schedule the interview, at least that was our experience. Yes for sure scan the NOA2 and get her three copies. That and the MNL case number are all that are needed for the medical. Encourage to do the Medical ASAP in case there is some issue with her chest x-ray and you need to under-go a sputem test.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedureshas been forwarded to USEM Manila Consulate, Now what?
Christianna...

When the NVC sends your fiancé's I-129F packet to the U.S. Embassy Manila, it takes quite a while for the Embassy to receive the packet and to enter it into their system. Once they enter it into their system, the Embassy will send you a letter telling you that you are eligible to schedule an interview. This process can take a month or more.

However, you don't have to wait for the letter from the Embassy in order to complete your medical and schedule an interview. You can complete your medical by using your MNL case number which your fiancé can get by calling the NVC, or from his letter from the NVC.

Also, you can pay your visa fee at BPI. However, you will not be able to schedule an interview until the Embassy has entered the receipt of the I-129F packet into their system. You will know when the Embassy has entered the I-129F packet into their system because you will be allowed to successfully schedule an interview either online or by phone. Also, you can call or email the Embassy and ask them whether your case has been received and entered into their system.

It's a good idea to stay on top of your case. Don't simply wait for the Embassy to send you a letter of eligibility, because sometimes they forget to send it. That has happened to some people. Just get your MNL case number and move forward with your medical and visa payment.

If you want to read the letter of eligibility from the Embassy, please click here.

Best wishes for the rest of your journey!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSo many questions RE Fiance Visa

You don't think that it is rude to refuse to give me answers because you feel that it is not okay for me to be gathering information at this point? As I have clearly stated, my husband moved out nearly a year ago. Our relationship is over. All that is left is formalities and those formalities are taken care of. It is a waiting game at this point. I want to know what is expected of me now, not when it is late. YOU are the one who is telling me that it is simply not acceptable for me to be asking these questions because YOU are making judgments you are not entitled to make.

I would think that someone who had to go through this- who knows that the laws can be inconvenient and make people who love each other very much wait a long time to be together would be a little more gentle in their approach. I don't need to be told I am not allowed to find out what I need to do NOW, and I don't need people posting little ding ding ding emotes. I feel like I've been trolled, frankly.

Cercy...A belated welcome to VJ!!! :star:

I hope you got the info you needed from this thread so that you can work through your visa journey as smoothly and as quickly as possible.

Nevermind Tim's comments. He's not a troll. He's a good-hearted guy who is going through the visa process and is trying to be helpful in his own way. Like any of us, sometimes he gives good advice and other times he has reading comprehension problems and a blind insistence on doing things his way.

Best wishes.
