PhilippinesSt. Luke’s Medical Exam Walkthrough

My fiancee went to St Lukes for her medical yesterday and was referred to get a psychological evaluation because of her annulment with her ex. Does anyone here have similar experiences and how bad of a setback is this?

Don't worry. It's not a setback. The psych evaluation will cost Php1000 and it will take maybe 30 minutes or less.

PhilippinesSt. Luke’s Medical Exam Walkthrough

i just had my xray result today and they found suspicious spot on my lungs..the sad part is i will undergo sputum test starting july 26..so that means my interview on august 23 will be cancelled..so sad.. :( :(

Sorry to hear that you will have to undergo the sputum collection and the two-month TB culture. I hope the time passes quickly for you. :star:

I'm done with my medical. Everything went great. I read here that they will keep your passport and forward it to the embassy, but they gave me back my passport including the vaccination records and x-ray cd. The girls (I met them at SLEC) that I was with that day also got their passports back.

St. Lukes recently changed their policy. They used to send your passport directly to the Embassy. Now they give your passport back to you once you have completed the medical.

Hi, I am from Laguna and my husband to be is from CT. We are still praying for the right way
in applying for visa. We would like a visa that can bring me faster in the USA and be together
as lawfully wedded couple.
We thought first for K-1, but we also consider K-3 because we can marry here and it will give
respect for my family, but K-1 seems have priority over K-3 since K-3 have lesser applicants.
I hope you don't me asking for advice. God bless you!

I have a Filipino friend who lives in Daly City, California. Daly City is located in the San Francisco Bay area. He tells me that there is a huge population of Filipinos living in that area. He says they have many wonderful Filipino restaurants and grocery stores. My fiancee and I plan to visit him and check it out.

Daly City probably has the largest Filipino population in the SF Bay Area. there are some other cities with many Filipinos: Union City, Vallejo and Newark. A Filipino restarant just opened in San Mateo. now we don't have to drive to Daly City or Newark for filipino cuisine.

Hi S & M...

That's good news about the new Filipino restaurant opening up in San Mateo...I hope it's a good one, and that you have a chance to try it out soon.

I have only spent 16 days in the Philippines, but when I was there, my fiancée and I ate Filipino food every day...and I loved it. I miss it too, because I have not found a Filipino restaurant in the Seattle area where the food tastes as good as it does in the Philippines.

I also have enjoyed some home-cooked Filipinos meals here in Seattle...and they were good...but not the same as the real thing. My fellow Filipinos here in Seattle agree that the best Filipino food is in the Philippines.

Even when they use the same recipe as back home, the ingredients will taste different. The meat and fish are not as fresh, and the fruit and vegetables are not always as fresh as they are in the Philippines. It's simply different.

One of the very few dishes that I did not care for over there was green mangos and bagoong...which my fiancée gets a craving for every couple of months. But, I sure enjoyed fresh-squeezed mango juice (and all of the other fresh juices too!).

One of the fun things my fiancée and I are planning is to explore the Filipino restaurants and grocery stores in the greater Seattle area. I've put together a good list of places to go.

Now I'm hungry...and there's leftover lumpia in the fridge. Ingat...

My fiancée was born and raised in the "city of smiles", Bacolod City. Bacolod City is located in the province of Negros Occidental, on the island of Negros, in the Visayas.

I was born and raised in Seattle, Washington, in the great pacific northwest. I live in a pedestrian-friendly inner-city neighborhood...not too far from the University of Washington and the University Medical Center. Within six blocks of our home you will find a major grocery store, many shops of all types, two movie theaters, countless ethnic restaurants, numerous coffee shops, a post office, and more. Two things that we don't have in our neighborhood are a Filipino grocery store and a Filipino restaurant. If we want to eat at a Filipino restaurant or shop for Filipino food, we will need to go across town.

I have spent a little time living in the Iloilo/Bacolod area in the early 70s. And I remember those days when I have to take the Negros Navigation ferry between the two cities. Very idyllic, the ferry ride was! I wonder if your fiancee knows the Javellana family, who were my friends in Iloilo and Negros and were prominent sugar cane planters during that era. I also fell in love with a girl belonging to the Ledesma/Montinola clan. Sad to say, it did not last as my employer had to transfer me to Davao City. My heart was down, my head was turnin' around, I had to leave my girl in Jaro town! (With apologies to Harry Belafonte.)

Ah, Seattle, Wash., lovely place indeed! I like it, except that it probably rains too much and my arthritis worsens when the rain goes on and on. My job requires me to visit Seattle every now and then. I always stay at a hotel in Kirkland by Yarrow Point and as I drive on the floating bridge over Lake Washington, my heart quivers at the beauty and the greenery of the landscape. Water, water everywhere! You mentioned the University of Washington, the football stadium is quite a site from the bridge and the 520. I wonder if you live close to 45th Street, by the Safeco Tower.

Yep...Seattle is very wet, and that is what makes it so green. I love the moderate climate in this area and I hope my fiancée will get used to it and grow to enjoy it like I do.

We live near the Safeco Building in the U District, and I am familiar with Kirkland and Yarrow Point areas. Imagine the view of Lake Washington and the floating bridge from inside Husky Stadium! Many people cruise to the football games by boat. Also, when crossing either floating bridge on a clear day, there is a fabulous view of 14,410-foot Mt. Rainier.

I would love to have seen Bacolod in the 1970's! I will check with my fiancée to find out if she is familiar with the clans that you mentioned. Her family has lived in the area for generations. We will PM you with any details.

My old man, AJAnTess, says that there is a lot of Filipino oldtimers in Seattle and there is also a Jose Rizal Park by the Beacon Hill area. Just wondering if he is just pulling my leg! I also wonder if your fiancee knows that here are really Javellana, Ledesma and Montinola clans in Bacolod/Iloilo, as my fiance brags about.

He is not pulling your leg! He knows Seattle well. There are many Filipinos living in the Beacon Hill neighborhood. It is a good place to buy Filipino groceries, eat at a Filipino restaurant, or visit Rizal Park.

There are many Filipinos living in the greater Seattle area. I am fortunate that my job allows me to meet Filipinos. They are all very nice people, and I proud to count many of them among my friends. I have noticed that most of the Filipinos living in this area are Ilocano. I have not met any Ilonggos yet.

I have a Filipino friend who lives in Daly City, California. Daly City is located in the San Francisco Bay area. He tells me that there is a huge population of Filipinos living in that area. PhilippinesWhere's your hometown?

My fiancée was born and raised in the "city of smiles", Bacolod City. Bacolod City is located in the province of Negros Occidental, on the island of Negros, in the Visayas.

My fiancée is a proud Ilongga. Her mother's side of the family is from Ilo Ilo, Aklan. Her father's side of the family is from Bago, Negros Occidental, about an hour from Bacolod City. My fiancée's first language is Ilonggo. She is fluent in Tagalog and English as well. She can also get by in the Bisayan dialect.

Among other things, the island of Negros is known for it's sugar production and for it's rice fields. We were pleasantly surprised when we were vacationing on the beautiful beaches of Boracay, Aklan Province...when our resort served our coffee with little packets of organic brown sugar from Bacolod.

Bacolod City is also famous for it's chicken. My favorite is Bacolod chicken inasal, which is marinated, grilled chicken on a skewer. I especially love the tasty sauce that we dipped the grilled chicken into. As a matter of fact, I liked the sauce so much that, for a while, I was dipping everything in it.

Here is the approximate recipe for the delicious sauce that I mentioned above:

> Two parts fresh calamansi. Make sure to squeeze the calamansi through a fork in order to catch the seeds.

> Two parts soy sauce. I'm not sure what brand of soy sauce we used.

> One part of spicy vinegar. The spicy vinegar is simply vinegar with garlic, peppers, and other spices in it.

Also, if you visit Bacolod, the Negros Museum is not to be missed. You can get a guided tour and learn all about the history of Negros for only P50. The museum is a great way to learn about the history of sugar on the island. There are lots of wonderful handicrafts as well. If you ask the guide enough questions , you can also learn something about the past exploitation of Negros by the Spanish, the Japanese, and the Americans.

Why wait for the USEM to contact you? That takes too long. Instead, why not call the NVC and get your MNL#? After you get your MNL# from the NVC, give it about two weeks, and then call the USEM to schedule an interview appointment. It takes about two weeks for the NVC to send your papers to the USEM, and for the USEM to enter your papers into their system. Easy-peasy.

Thanks for posting this! After about 2 weeks from NOA2 notification by email or on the website we can call NVC then for the MNL number?

Start calling the NVC to get your MNL# about a week after you receive your NOA2 email notification. Then, after you get your MNL# from the NVC, it takes about two weeks for the USEM to receive your papers and enter them into their system.

Whoops thought of another question... when we get the MNL number we can call the automated appt. line anytime after that right?

Thanks again

When you get your MNL# from the NVC, wait for about two weeks before you call the USEM to make an interview appointment. This will allow the NVC time to send your papers to the USEM and for the USEM to enter your papers into their system.

Congratz on getting your interview appointment. Your next move is to start preparing for your interview. Your petitioner needs to send you their I-134 and all of it's supporting documents.

Also, you can plan the date to take your medical exam at SLEC. You will want to take the exam one week before your interview.

And don't forget to attend the CFO.

I havent been around much, so I thought I would finally work up the nerve to try to read through all I missed and see how everyone was doing. Turns out I didnt miss many posts, but I would like to hear how everyone is doing.

Karri - Do you have an update? Should have been this week right?
Tahoma - Did you get the visa?
Adiiann - Hang in there. I may be the only person with a longer outlook than you.
Benika - Did you get the police reports and interviewed scheduled yet?
Bigticket77 - How did the interview go?
Akiko - Are you still waiting for NOA2? (I am still waiting on Tokyo - since early January)
UScanDual - did you ever get out of AP?
darwinsfinch - how did the interview go?
Sweettiebaby - are you in the US yet? Congrats to you!
probablyamerican - Goodluck! soon, real soon.
dogspot - Congratulations.

For me, I am still waiting for an interview in Tokyo for Grace. It appears I am going to have to request to move the case to Manila because our baby will be born in June, so time is running out for travel. I expect that to further delay things for the transfer and then more of a delay if our baby is born there - then I need to get the baby a passport. I may have to cancel depending on timing, maybe just get married and start over.

I have been stuck in AP in Tokyo almost as long as it took to get NOA2 from USCIS - remember all that waiting (sorry Akiko, maybe ur still waiting)? This is torture.

The good news is, I have been so depressed and negative about it, I no longer have high expectations, but I am somehow OK with that. I know someday, somehow, we will be together. Even if it takes another year or two.

I am also starting to cheer up because I leave for Japan next Friday to see her. If I cant get the interview in the 2 weeks while I am there, I will help her move to the Philippines and spend another week with her. So at least I will get 3 weeks with her soon.

Hi Chuck & Grace,

I am here in Seattle now. It is really wonderful to be re-united with my loving fiance. The visa process was very challenging but had actually deepened our relationship.

I wish your fiancee will have her interview schedule soon too. I feel for all of you who are waiting and I wish that you will be with your fiance(e) soon.

Please hang in there guys. Don't ever give up.

~Chinook

Just dropping by to say Hi to everyone.

We are just waiting now for my visa to arrive. Hopefully, we will get it within 2 weeks.
Me and my fiance had a challenging week at the embassy(they lost our I-134, etc.) and I already posted my experience at the Philippines forum.

I hope everyone is doing great.

Hi Guys!

sad.gif I am trying to track our case in DHL, but I couldn't. I just wanted to know if our case is already here in Manila. Any help? Thanks!

When you track cases on DHL, it will only show the different recepient countries. They shipped some files last 1/23 to PH but we never know if our case is one of them. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

My fiance was told by the embassy today that they already have our electronic file on their system but no physical file yet so we still couldnt schedule for interview. Hopefully, they will get it this week.

Let me know if your file is in the embassy already. We have the same approval date so I am assuming that our case will progress at the same time.

Again, our CONGRATULATIONS to those who got approved yesterday.

For the rest of the Sept CSC filers, have more patience. It will come at the time you least expect it.
We were actually expecting to get our approval anytime within the next 2 weeks, and it really felt good to finally get it.

I have kept myself busy the past 2 days completing all my documents while waiting for NOA2 and they all came together yesterday. 14 is now one of our lucky numbers.

God bless everyone. Keep the faith.

What an exciting week for Sept filers. We are happy for all the new approvals. Again...CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Karri,
I believe our packet is very well-organized. I am proud of how my pangga arranged it. Very neat and everything is in order (with tabs).
Hopefully, next week will be our week.

Happy weekend everyone..

aljhel, Happy to hear about your touch. It is probably a really good sign, but I have even better news

I GOT APPROVAL NOTICE EMAIL TONIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally!!!!!!!!!!!! So, I never sent in the G325A for her daughter and it didnt hold it up. Maybe you will be ok. Good luck!!!

Funny thing is, I was having such a bad night too, then I checked my email again just before I was going to sleep and there it was - I was just expecting more reply notices from VJ. It has been sitting there for a few hours!

AMY, Looks like you dont need to open that can up after all, but thanks for your support, it meant a lot.

Congrats Chuck & Grace! That's another good news for September filers.

Aljhel, it seems you will get your NOA2 soon too.

We are September filer too. Still wishing to get the NOA2 before this year ends.

I love teaching my pangga some tagalog words and phrases. He always make me proud everytime I hear him say a complete Tagalog sentence. We have so much fun doing our tagalog lessons and he is doing very well.

It will be December next week..time is running fast and I cant wait to be with him. As for now, we try to keep ourselves busy to make the waiting bearable.

I don't know the answer to your question. However, I don't think it will be a problem.

If you don't get an answer here on VJ, you might want to make an infopass appointment and talk to the USCIS in person.

I imagine that your K-1 petition has been considered abandoned. Maybe the USCIS will ask you to write a letter of explanation regarding the circumstances surrounding your K-1 petition, and include that letter with your CR-1 petition.

Good luck!
