K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsConfused About Where NVC is??????
The National Visa Center (NVC) is located in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. The USCIS sends approved I-129F petitions to the NVC which assigns them a case number and forwards them to the appropriate Embassy. In your case, the NVC will forward your approved petition to the U.S. Embassy Manila (USEM).

NVC link.

If you already have your MNL case number from the NVC, then your beneficiary should go ahead and pay the visa application fee at BPI, schedule an interview appointment, and complete the medical.

If you have not received your MNL case number, you should call the NVC and get it. There's no need to wait for the NVC.

The letter from the USEM is not the same thing as the letter from the NVC. Once the USEM receives your case from the NVC, the USEM is supposed send a letter to the beneficiary telling them that they are eligible to schedule an interview and giving them interview preparation instructions. However, you don't want to wait around for that letter because you'll waste a month or more doing so. Some people never receive the letter. Instead, get your MNL case number from the NVC and get rolling right now.

USEM letter.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNOA 2 to NVC Notification???
You don't have to wait for your case to arrive at the Embassy in order to pay the visa application fee, to schedule an interview appointment, or to complete the medical at St. Lukes. All you need to have in order to get the process rolling is your MNL case number.

It's not necessary for K-1'ers to submit their NVC letter in order to be admitted into St. Lukes for their medical. As a matter of fact, St. Lukes prefers that K-1'ers submit their interview appointment confirmation printout. However, there are K-1'ers who have been admitted into St. Lukes using only their NVC letter containing their MNL case number. Some have even been admitted without their NVC letter and simply told St. Lukes their MNL case number.

When you get your MNL case number, you can pay the visa application fee at BPI. Then, you can schedule your interview appointment online. When you schedule your interview appointment, you will print out a confirmation sheet. You will use the confirmation sheet to be admitted into St. Lukes for your medical.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNOA 2 to NVC Notification???

...can I start the medical/interview process with just the MNL case number?

Yes.

How do you know when NVC receives your petition? How do you know when it is forwarded to the proper consulate?

You will know that the NVC has received your petition when they email or snail mail you. Or, you can speed things up by calling them and getting your MNL case number. Start calling the NVC a week or two after the USCIS approves your I-129F petition.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsInteresting Conversation with NVC Rep!!!
For K-1'ers, the NVC letter will work to get you admitted into St. Lukes for the medical, but St. Lukes does not require it. Instead, St. Lukes likes you to have your interview appointment confirmation printout.

The Embassy probably told her to go home and wait until 2GO contacts her. Standard operating procedure is for 2GO to send her a text when her visa packet is in their hands and ready for delivery or pickup.

Why take a chance? Get an updated CENOMAR and letter of employment.

Your documents will be almost four months old by the time of your interview. It doesn't matter how long the CENOMAR is good for. The consular officer will sometimes ask for an updated one. You certainly don't want to walk away from your interview with a 221g in your hand.

Congratz on receiving your petition approval notice. :star:

Ignore the I-824. You don't need it. You aren't changing Embassies. You are still going to interview in U.S. Embassy Manila (USEM).

Now that the petition has been approved by the USCIS, the next step is to start calling the National Visa Center (NVC) in a week or two so you can get your MNL case number and verify that the NVC has sent your approved petition to the USEM. Once you find out that information, then you can pay the visa application fee at BPI and then schedule your interview and complete your medical.

In the meantime, you should prepare for your interview. You can start preparing for your interview by reading this letter from the USEM.

Note: You should not wait to receive this letter from the USEM because it can take a month or more to arrive and you will waste time waiting for it. Some people never receive the letter. It's better to get started on the process yourself when you get your MNL case number from the NVC.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportsinterview dates (manila US embassy)
If you want the earliest possible interview date, then why are you waiting for the Embassy to reply? You're wasting time. Instead, you should pay the visa fee and schedule an interview right away. Don't worry, the Embassy will receive your case by the time interview day rolls around.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsDS 156, question #36
I vote to disclose it. Besides, they will know about it anyway.

Note: the U.S. Embassy Manila processes fiancé(e) visas in their Immigrant Visa Unit.

By the way, why was your first K-1 visa denied? This could become a red flag for your current K-1 visa.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportspreparing for the interview
1. I want to know the exact size of the pictures that I should attach to the DS Forms. Should they be American Visa size or 2x2 sized? is it the same size for the Medical exam?

For details on photo size, please click here.

2. Should I already attach the pictures to the forms, or should they be attached when they collect them from me on the embassy?

I don't remember whether or not you are allowed to attach the the photos in advance.

3. With regard to the western union receipts and tickets, this includes the VISA fee receipt from BPI, should i give them the originals or can i just give them the scanned copies and have the originals with me just in case they want to see them?

Try to give them copies, but have the originals with you in case they are needed.

4. The appointment confirmation letter. Is this the one that i got on my email confirming my appointment since i have set it up online? or is this a letter that i should receive from the mail?

The letter you may receive from the Embassy is a letter which tells you that you are eligible to schedule an interview and it gives you instructions on how to prepare for the interview. It's the same letter I linked you to in #1. It's not an appointment confirmation letter.

Did you print out an interview appointment confirmation sheet when you scheduled your interview online?

5. What should I wear for my interview? should i go on full corporate attire or smart casual will do?

My preference is corporate, but smart casual should work too.

6. My interview is scheduled at 7:30am. Should i be there as early as 5am? or 6-6:30 will do?

6:00-6:30 AM will do fine.

Good luck !!! :star:

Your POE is Guam. That's where you will go through immigration. That's where you will give your visa packet to the immigration officer. I heard that the Guam POE is just easy. The immigration officer will probably be a Filipino! :)

By the way, Guam is not a state. It's a territory.

Have a great flight, and welcome to the U.S. :star:

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportsapproved or denied

i think there is a problem with her ex husband the consul was asking me why her ex still living in her apartment but they were divorce and separated for long time. i'd showed all the proof that our relationship is genuine.

How did the consular officer know that your fiancée is living in the same apartment as her ex?

Just because they kept your passport doesn't mean that your visa will be approved. Two recent examples of this are VJ members Phildetroit and JFitz.

I wish you the best of luck. :star:

The Embassy probably wants to order their own copy of your CENOMAR or your NBI clearance. They sometimes do things like that.

I doubt you will have to wait 60 days. They just tell you that in order to cover their butts. Don't be surprised when 2GO texts you in a few weeks telling you that your visa packet is ready for pickup/delivery.

On my NOA2 it states "Approval notice valid from 2/21/2013 to 6/20/2013" so yes, they do expire but obviously not until they have been issued.

The Embassy can revalidate it.

The clock starts ticking on your I-129F petition once the USCIS approves it. After USCIS approval, your I-129F petition will be valid for four months. However, the U.S. Embassy Manila routinely revalidates I-129F petitions for an additional four months, and can extend them beyond that.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsDoes my fiance need to revisit ?

Hmm. Well, not every embassy welcomes petitioners at the interview. I know for a fact that some forbid it. So, this statement was not so much Wrong Wrong Wrong as incomplete.

As for time together, again the application process is not super clear on this, although I suspect that your reading is probably correct. Nonetheless, it is the embassy official's reading that counts. That is the reality here. There are plenty of examples of US government officials who have not read, or understood, US laws and regulations. If you question this, then I doubt you have had very many dealing with US government bureaucracy.

So, again, not so much Wrong Wrong Wrong as Concerned Concerned Concerned.

Wrong again! :bonk: J@L identified the Embassy in question in his opening post. The same information is on his timeline and in his profile. Your "incomplete" answer was wrong, not only for J@L, but for many others too. Wrong is wrong!

Wrong yet again! :bonk: The I-129F rules are clear about meeting in person. The VJ Guides are also clear about it. Why don't you link me to a case where a "government official" got the two-year meeting requirement wrong.
TahomaMalePhilippines2013-03-30 11:46:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsDoes my fiance need to revisit ?

I too was wondering about the "mandatory" presence at the interview. It has been my understanding that the petitioner is not allowed to attend the interview -- or at least not be in the room when the interview happens. You could be there for moral support, but nothing else. I have heard that in our case, I might not even be allowed inside the embassy.

That said, the OP brings up another potentially important issued. The one about the revisit. In many cases visiting, once the petition is filed, becomes less frequent so that the couple may start to save for their life together (as described by the OP). The problem here is the time the time between the last visit and the interview. The rules say we MUST have seen each other within the last two years. But, if the CSC starts to take one year (or more) to approve the petition, the two years since last visit issue may start to become an issue.

I wonder if the State Department officials at the embassy, those who make the final visa decision, know about the CSC delay and are willing to take that into account?

Being that this is the US government we're talking about, I suspect not.

Wouldn't that just be perfect -- get the visa denied because the USCIS approval process took too long.

^^^ Wrong. Wrong. Wrong!!! :bonk:

The OP's fiancée is interviewing in Manila. The U.S. Embassy Manila allows petitioners to attend their beneficiary's interview for both fiancé(e) visas and spousal visas.

And no, the rules don't say "you must have seen each other within the last two years." :bonk:

The rules say "you must have seen each other within the last two years from the date the petition was filed."

i don't think so i have friends done their's without the fiance there's no need because even you fiance there with you he wont be allow to be with you on your interview and yeah your Lawyer is right she wont return your payment that's really the service here like most all agency anyways you will be fine.

^^^ Wrong. Wrong. Wrong!!!

Please stop spreading misinformation. :bonk:
