I am assuming that the Vancouver mentioned was Canada's? Thus, Las Vegas CAN be the 1st point for US.

If there's a fuel stop on US Territory, does she then have to disembark to go throught the USCIS process?

Philippineserror on I-129F:birthdate of beneficiary
The NVC screwed up my fiance's name on the notice of forwarding my petition to the USEM. So, when I called to book her interview appoinment, the lady at the Embassy said that could cause a problem witht the visa, She told me to have my fiance' FAX over her NSO which would verify her CORRECT NAME. I imagine that a mistake in your birthdate wouldn't be a good thing!

If you cannot find the USEM fax number here, have your fiance call back with his PIN and obtain that from one of the reps there. Then, fax over your NSO birth certificate immediately. It's one thing to bring all of the docs with you, but you don't want to have them reschdule you because they have to spend time updating your birthdate.

That's the best advice I can give. Hope it helps you.

PhilippinesPlane ticket question
USCIS is not concerned about who bought a ticket, or who paid for it. Just that her documents and I94 is in order upon her arrival. My Meve said they were very accomodating to her in Honolulu, and she would have no trouble recommending that as a POE for other ladies if the opportunity presents itself.

I just realized that I have enough frequent flier miles to get a plane ticket for her for free. Do you think it would be a problem if I got the plane ticket for her?

Thanks.

Most airlines require the passenger to present copies of the credit card that was used to purchase her ticket. I would back that up with a photocopy of your ID, showing the signatures match. Scan or fax-wave them to yourself, then e-mail to her in the Phil. Otherwise, due to credit card fraud, she wont' be allowed to board.

I had already gotten my fiance signed on to one of my cards as a co-holder on the account. So, on her end, all she had to do was to show her own card with the matching account number.

Well, I am the USC petitioner, and always have been in these posts here in VJ. BUT, my fiance' is also scheduled for May 13th! So, if any of you ladies would like to PM me, I'll provide her e-mail to you if you'd like to meet. That would be four, or FIVE of you that could have some solidarity that morning. She speaks mostly Bisayan, but can get along well in Tagalog if you prefer to e-mail her with other than English.

PhilippinesWho will set interview date?USEM letter needed at Interview?
When the USEM shows you are in their system, they will let you book your interview. You can ask for earliest available date, or ask for a date you're hoping for. Worst the rep is going to say is that it's not available, right?

It took a couple of days for them to internally 'process' my fiance', or what you may call it, BEFORE they would allow me to set an appointment. I got through on ONE of the two days they worked during April Holy Week. Although they had received her packet from the NVC, they wouldn't allow me to book it yet. I think it was Tues of the following week that they allowed me to book her appointment.

I stayed at Soriente Hotel, just beside SLEC and about 5 blocks away from the Embassy. Price is really cheap, secured, and very good customer service.

My fiance' really like it also. However, the day before her interview, she booked at the Celestine Citadel, so that she didn't have as far to walk. While nice, she did go RIGHT back to Sorriente for the remainder until she left. It's also within walking distance to the Robinson's Mall in Ermita for food, and computer services.

Don't make that assumption, LOL. innocent.gif You, or your petitioner, should call the number to see if the USEM has recorded you in their system. Even if they have, you may no be able to book your appointment immediately. I had to wait several days before they would allow me to book my Meve's appt.

You also don't need to wait for your packet. Once they book your appointment, they can send you an e-letter to your email, and that of your petitioner's. That e-letter is your 'ticket' to enter St. Lukes for your medical.

PhilippinesQuestion for Filipina's in USA, regarding the food...
QUOTE (rockhouse @ Jul 10 2009, 10:52 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi all,
I was curious about how the Filipina's that are now living in the USA feel about the food here.

How do you ladies find the food compared to back home? My Fiancee thinks maybe her palate won't be adjusted to the food here, and she won't really care for it

My Meve has now been here two months. It's very hard for her to adjust to our foods. She is VERY finicky. So, I've been trying my best to cook Phil foods for her at home. She HATES my fave, Indian food. She does not care for Mexican at all. Sweet Tomatoes was a bust. The Cuban restaurant didn't work, & she even hated the PORK there!

We have the best luck at Asian buffets where she can get rice, and grilled meats. Also, we have L &L Hawaiin BBQ out here, and that's a natural fit. As others have said, she seems to remain unsatisfied unless there's rice on the plate. whistling.gif She craves fried fish, noodles {pancit canton} and Phil-style spaghetti, eggs, and rice.

The only fast food hamburgers we've tried are Jack in the Box, and In and Out. She really likes In and Out.
We haven't tried McD's or BK yet, simply because I don't eat that myself.

There are crocodiles somewhere around Butuan City, and I read that in trying to get some info about the area. That post was the first I've read that it was some attempt at farming by the Marcos Admin. ? I thought perhaps they were indegenous to the area. If they are not, then in my opinion, they should be hunted until their extinct. Better that than allow them to propogate into the whole of mindanao, taking out small children from time to time, and farm animals on a frequent basis!

PhilippinesReport of marriage and NSO question
Since ROM to the RP is not required, why bother with the time and expense? If you report it to the Phil and later divorce, that could really put the damper on your spouse ever immigrating here again. Perhaps you divorce amicably. Would you really want them to have put their next fiance' through the expense and time involved in obtaining an anulment recognized in the Phil? OTOH, perhaps this is something you may not have a problem with, especially if the divorce is not amicable. Just a thought...

LD, you don't have a timeline posted, so I don't know where you're at in this process. You could fax, or scan and then e-mail, your fiance' copies of your most recent paystubs which support your CURRENT higher income. As long as she can download and print them before her interview, you should be fine. IF you have time, try to obtain an updated letter from your employer which would confirm the higher income.

Okay, this one has gotten me a bit confused, also.

My fiance' lives in a small village of about 2K{guesstimate}. She spends much of her time in the 'big' city of 125K, which is a 3hr ferry ride away. PLUS, she went to college in Cebu for over 6mos.....SO....

Should she obtain, barangay, village, city, and Cebu clearances...PLUS NBI ? My head is spinning, LOL. wacko.gif

My friend used one also, and it was the same result. He was LIVID that the lawyer never told him about the G325A forms, and the NEED for the fiance's original signature. Thus, more delays, and money in FedEx fees to get the docs there and back quickly.

I read everything I could, and posted a few questions. Did it myself, and feel confident that the didn't screw it up.
Even if I get RFE'd, I don't see that adding any more time than I would've needed in hiring someone.

I would encourage YOU to feel confident also. Afterall, that money you would budget for an attorney could be better spent enjoying your time in the RP with your loved one. In 11 days, I was able to spend over 2K, and that was without being too extravagant, IMHO! Remember, unless your fiance' is a professional career person there, or from a wealthy family, expect everything to be on YOU. All lodging, meals, transportation, gifts {not just for her, but immediate family}, etc. Plus, you may find her family with a 'need' or two when you arrive that just tears at your heart. Your fiance' may not have told you, either, out of pride or shyness. A leaky roof, or a broken refrigerator, or even something as simple as a nice foam mattress to sleep on may pop-up. Trust me, if you find that you really do love her, you'll want to help out within your means.
