No one ever said crimes and murders don't happen everywhere. In my neighborhood, 3 different crimes involving guns happened just last week. However, to dismiss the crime of Jamaica with the wave of a hand is a cop out. Per capita, it is the murder capital of the world. Something still needs to be done about that.

And, I was not dishonoring Jamaica in my tirade. I was going off on Jamicans I personally know who are driving me crazy. I have every right to do this because this is happening to me. It Has nothing to do with dishonoring Jamaica as a whole.

That is NOT true.

Ok - so Jamaica is not the murder capital of the world - but it is #3. Check out this link: http://www.nationmas...ders-per-capita

I don't know what to do anymore.......
The Embassy told us we would have our visa last friday, but guess what?....no visa and still today there is no visa. I talked to the lady at the Dept. of State yesterday and she assured me that the visas were printed last Thurs and she said the embassy in Kingston is very slow. I have tried to e-mail the embassy serveral times and no response from them. They hold people lives on hold like its no deal.

I married my wife 14 months ago and we did K-3 visa and she is still not here with me. I am so disgusted with the embassy that it just makes me sick. The Americans that work at that embassy, give America a bad name. They really need to fire everyone there and start over. I'm sorry, but I am so freaking mad right now that I can't see straight.

Thanks for letting vent.

Wow Jason, I feel your pain and frustrations but keep on them did you call airpek(sp)?

No, I figured they don't have it, b/c from what I read, they are pretty quick on getting them out. But, I will try calling them today.

Sheesh Jason - That stinks! I was assuming because I hadn't seen you posting that all was good. Have you contacted your congressional representative/constituent services for help? It might be time to bring them in......also it might help to bring it to someone's attention, at the federal level, how sometimes things go bad dealing with that embassy.

I got my NOA2 by mail. The date of approval was April 29. Last week I called NVC and they were able to tell me they recieved the petition on May 5 and on May 7 it was mailed to the embassy in JA. They were also able to verify that the embassy had received it. On Friday I sent an email to the embassy to request copies of all docs that will be sent to my fiance' and I got a response that day saying they would send me the docs. It was ALOT of progress in one week! good.gif

Good afternoon Trelawny,

I stayed at The Courtleigh Hotel and Suites in Kingston, whenever I go to JA. I love the hotel, because the buffet breakfast is included in the cost of the room. Whenever I am there I only need to eat my breakfast at the hotel since my in-laws are feeding me for lunch and dinner. I give this hotel a 4.5 rating, it is clean, safe and was very accommodating to my indivual needs. This might sound a little snobbish it is a real Hotel, not a motel(like motel8). I don't want anyone to take this wrong, but I hate motels.

Tre, I strongly recommend this hotel, but again , to each it own.

Thanks Roxie, no offense taken. I don't do motels either. After finding condoms (USED) in the bathtub that was it for me. No more motels.

thanks for the great info. I was thinking of staying at a hotel the night of interview so we aren't late for the 730 appointment. Are these hotels near the Embassy?

Thanks
Wakey

Hi Wakey,

This Hotel is right next door to the Hilton, close to the Embassy. The Embassy recommends the Hilton, but price is tooo high for the lack of accommondations. Again, the breakfast buffet is GREAT.

The Courtleigh looks lovely.

FYI - I was farting around and searching for hotels and found that the Hilton offers a AAA discount.

I've heard or read that after the interview, if the visa is approved, it is given out right there. Then I was reading the reviews of the Jamaican Embassy and saw that the visa was mailed out and received a couple weeks later. I am not close to the interview yet but just for sort of planning purposes I wondering what to expect and whether I should be there for the interview. I would like to fly back with my fiance but I probably couldn't hang out for a couple of weeks waiting for the visa to come in the Jamaican mail. What can I expect?
