Oh yes we've call them many times, all they keep on saying is that we have to wait 60 days.

I don't understand why your case taken so long to decide. It's going to be 60 days in a few. It only took them 2 days for my case to be approved. May I ask what was your RFE for?

Texas...thanks so much for compliment. Best of luck to you as well. I'm sure we'll be communicating many times in the process. I am also trying to get everyone (with Thai spouse) to buy in on the idea of forming an annual get together on a weekend somewhere neutral perhaps next year in Spring time. More to come. Take care.

If the timing is right Ying and I would be interested.

Gene

Thanks Gene...I'll make sure everyone has plenty of time to prepare.

Trying to navigate this maze and could use some help, encouragement, advice, etc. wacko.gif

I submitted our application to Texas in late June and received canceled check in July. Some questions...

1. I never received a hard copy (is that the NOA1?), but called the customer service folks and they told me how to find the receipt number on the canceled check, which I did. Shows it was received JULY 2nd and sent to CSC for processing. I still never have received hard copies of anything in the mail -- will I need anything or is the ability to track progress online enough?

2. Is there anything we should be doing while we wait for notification of approval of the application?

3. Beginning with the end in mind ... with a JULY 2nd receipt date and clean records for both myself and my fiancee (we met July 2006 and I've been there 7 times) when would you guess she'll finally receive her Visa?

Thanks from this Texas rookie.

Good luck to all.

Texas, please add your timeline to your signature so it will give us a better understanding of where you are. As for waiting for the hard copy of the NOA1, you should call the USCIS to find out since you have the Case #. If you see my timeline; it took them 2 and 1/2 mons to get it to me. I wouldn't worry too much about the NOA1...it's the NOA2 is what you should really be concerned with. This one is the one that counts most.

Hi everyone....just saw this thread for the first time. I'm still waiting for USCIS to approve my application.

I faxed in a request to expedite last week due to military deployment and according to an email from Officer McMellan..."an officer has my package and it's waiting to be adjudicated. Please allow 30 days for action." I'm pretty sure this is good:)

Just wanted to check in with everyone and introduce myself here. I'm happy to see there is a whole Thailand thread. I'll be counting on you guys to help me out with ridiculous questions sometimes...haha headbonk.gif helpsmilie.gif

Welcome JCochranUSN...glad to see another family military member here. I was in the military. I had just retired two months ago from 21 yrs, 9 mons, & 9 days from the USAF. I'm a new Thai thread member as well. You should get your approval soon. Best of luck. good.gif

I just wanted to say hello to everyone out there. I am really glad to see that Thailand and its neighbors (Laos, Cambodia) have a thread to converse. I know I have not been here much but want to make my present felt. I remembered that a comment made while back that we (with Thai spouses) should have an annual get together one weekend somewhere. Is anyone in for it?

?????? I know how you both felt. I was relieved when I got my citizenship in 1990. Mine was pretty quick because I was in the military at the time. I had helps from my 1st Sgt. & Commander to expedite my process though. I have to wait a little longer now for my wife to obtain her 10 yrs GC & citizenship. Anyway, Congrats again.

I'd have been angry too but I've learned, painfully, that often it doesn't matter whether you are right or not-- especially dealing with a government entity. Maybe their behavior was some combination of stupid, lazy, silly, unprofessional and maybe you could prove it to someone who would care but at what cost? You got the visa... chalk it up as a win and get on with your life together. This doesn't seem like a worthwhile battle.

Hell at this point... the Thai nationals working the embassy can call me stupid ATM farang and moon me if it'll get my fiancee here faster.... Take comfort in the fact that you and your fiancee will likely lead a measurably better life than they will. If being petty to you makes em sleep better at night, be magnanimous since they are no longer your problem!

Wow, that's a great way to look at things. I agree 100%. I probably do need to relax, but my adrenaline is still pumping from the roller coaster ride that was the last week. Love the Don Quixote reference.

ThaistyleUSA and Anya, no offense intended. I like Thai people (I'm marrying one), what I don't like is the nameless people at the Embassy.

Thong, I agree with you once again. I am pretty drained. Sounds like it's your turn next. I'm rooting for you. Also, I'm in BKK until the 8th, if you need anything.

daboyz, Last time I tried to take my fiance on a trip out of the country the yellow shirts decided to camp out in the airport. Can you give me an over/under on whether or not they are going to do the same thing on November 8th, cause I gotta get home.

Dan, no offense taken. As a retired military member, I would like to see everyone happy, and be positive about life. I think we all should live life to its fullest. Believe me I had been to many places and saw many cultures. But I learned to respect them all. We all are human. We have to be thankful for what we are and have. I had sacrifice my life for 22 yrs, all I want to do now is to enjoy it with my family and friends. Life is too short. Take care...good luck & congratulations.

Wow! Did I served in the wrong war? blink.gif I am Thai with naturalized American citizenship. I had sacrificed my life for 22 yrs in the UNITED STATES AIR FORCE and still do as civil service. I had served in 2 desert wars. Now... I had gone through the same process as everyone else or perhaps more difficult than others. I had my ups and downs but I always thankful that my SO is here with me. That's all that matters. Congratulations to all approvals and good luck to ones with the process. good.gif

Tea passed her interview today. content.gif
She met Rinda of Chris and Rinda there, who also passed. She had a short interview with a young American who spoke Thai. She told me that everyone in her group of 5 passed, although I have a feeling that since they collected all of the documents yesterday, they had already weeded out those that were going to get a 221g or denial.

I had big concerns about my income, as I'm self employed. I was lucky to be able to get a contract printed from one of my clients last night, but the interviewer didn't even want to look at them.

I did take Ning and Thaihome's advice and wrote a one page letter discussing my job and how I was going to take care of my fiance in the U.S. Tea told me that she read the letter, and copied much of it into her computer.

Thanks for the advice from everyone here.

CONGRATULATIONS!! good.gif good.gif

Chutima passed the English and US history and government tests, and the interview was a success. Since her 3 years isn't until 18 Oct, we will have to wait for them to mail us her Oath ceremony date. I know that Chutima is excited, but for me, it means waiting for yet another letter from USCIS! sad.gif I am SOOOOOOOOO ready to be done with the USCIS!

Changing her name is not a problem. I think it makes a lot easier when you have to do paper work in the process. My wife still has her Thai passport in her maiden name. When we go to Thailand, she just bring her Green Card, that way we don't have to bring our marriage certificate everywhere we go.
