K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDecember Filer receives RFE after sending in 75 pages of documents and supporting evidence
I have a similar situation having sent documents after having sent the I-129F but the application only went on Mar31 so no response other than the NOA1 so far. Did you sent the additional information (75 pieces) to the Texas lockbox or directly to California?

Hi there, if you go to the Example Forms (second blue line at the top of the Visa Journey page), they have the format that they need. You can get all others you might need from there too.

ok, thanks ... no, I'm not doing this to help my case, it is a genuine purchase but wouldn't want to do anything that might adversely affect the visa process or result.

Hi there, I am in NZ so requested my police certificate from here - they were pretty efficient at this end and only took about 7 days, but allowing for extra time to send it to the consular office over there, someone else may be able to help you more.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduressenatorial expedite help at consulate K-1 visa
I think that the reason was probably you had reached the five months which is when a Senator will take action.
I also understand that your planning was probably done prior to knowing how this process works and the timeframes involved.
My predicament is not exactly the same but the timeframe is critical. If we all knew all the 'ins and outs' of it before we started the process, we would probably do things differently...its a pretty harsh and stressful process. Wow isn't hindsight a great thing. You could maybe contact the embassy/consular office to see if they have any cancellations/spaces become available.
I hope it all works for you.... best, A

So by saying 'certified copies is a copy of a document issued by some government entity', does it need to be the original issue or can it be a photocopy of the original issue. I get confused by this. Thanks.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresShould I be worried?
As mentioned above there is no strict process ... a touch can just mean your file was moved from one desk to another so its not necessarily significant anyway. You'll find from this site that there are many variations throughout the process. Good place to ask questions when you feel doubtful... good luck on your journey.

Age is not an issue so long as you meet the usual requirements. If you have sent in the requested certificate they should be working on your file and should progress more quickly from now on. Best wishes.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresResponse Review
A large number of RFEs are resolved within a couple of weeks. I agree it depends what it was for but something like a missing photo or signed letter of intent is often within that time frame. I would give it about 2 weeks and then contact your Congressman.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIncrease in RFE issuance?
ha.. yea think they got that. I have read several postings recently suggesting that petitioners sent all documents required and received an RFE requesting info already sent. Confusing when you know you have sent everything and are asked for some of the documents/photos again. Unless you think that USCIS are infallible?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIncrease in RFE issuance?
Ha yea I think they got that... the issue is that when you know you have sent all the info required and they request something that you know you have already sent, such as photos, it is concerning. There have been a few similar postings lately, and it becomes very confusing for petitioners. Or do you think USCIS is infallible?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIncrease in RFE issuance?
Monyfer says they have been asked for photos which were already sent.
Other posts have said similar things suggesting that the petitioners submissions were complete and supporting documents have been mislaid. Or do you think USCIS is infallible?

From all the posts I have read there are no clear solutions - there is no definite timeframe and that is the toughest thing to deal with. You are so close, so just wishing you luck for the remainder of the journey.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDS 230 help
Hi there! Its a bit confusing also in that the DS230 is for an Immigrant Visa and the K1 is a non-immigrant visa, so I'm not totally sure on this but I have seen on the VJ Forum that some of the forms are multi-use and you just put 'None' for the spouse question if you are applying for K1. We are not yet that far down the track yet. Did you get the DS230 in your Pack 3?
AndieFemaleNew Zealand2011-05-14 23:56:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDS-156
My thinking is that #36 should be 'No' because it asks if anyone has 'petitioned' for an Immigrant visa and the I129F is a Non-Immigrant visa application. The DS156 Form is for a Non-Immigrant Visa Application (as stated at the top). The AOS is then applied for by the K1 Visa holder (beneficiary) after marriage. #37 should be 'Yes' because Fiance/ee needs to have citizen status to petition. Maybe someone can just reconfirm?
AndieFemaleNew Zealand2011-05-14 16:07:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhich service center should I send it to?
All I-129F applications go to Texas. They onsend it to California or Vermont depending on where you live (there is no choice). If you are in PA your file will go to Vermont. Good luck with your k1 journey.
AndieFemaleNew Zealand2011-05-15 17:56:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDo we really need a lawyer?
So long as you are able to find a co-sponsor and follow the guides/timelines per this site it is possible. Your fiancee needs to petition but easier if you both familiarise yourselves with the process as laid out in the guides and flowcharts and monitor these forums so you both stay informed. Knowledge of pitfalls, and support during the journey makes it easier. Good luck.
AndieFemaleNew Zealand2011-05-15 02:36:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow do I know what service center I use?
As has been said just send it to the Texas Lockbox. They then forward it to the appropriate centre depending which State you are in - you don't have a choice on that, and they will send you an NOA1 when it is received. Good luck on your journey.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat to send with Form DS-156K
If you go into the Embassy Info (link at top of VJ page) and specificy your Embassy e.g. Netherlands, it will give you some instructions as to what is needed.

When you receive Packet 3 - you should send ...

DS230, Police form, DS156 (2 copies), DS156K (think you sign this at the embassy), Photocopy of passport, 4 recent passport photos (you also need some extra ones 2? for your medical).

Check that this agrees with your Embassy instructions as I've noticed there is some variation between requirements of different embassies.

Also, I think I would use your new address, as its not so easy to connect with your original file once you have sent it. You may spend all your time wondering if they ever got the updated/changed address information.

Btw, if you update your timeline and profile it makes it easier for other VJer's to help you with any questions... :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures129f and moving states
The I-129F gets sent to the Dallas Lockbox... from there they send it either to California or Vermont Service Center - which one, depends on where you live. Follow the guides as suggested. Initially as well as your application etc. you only need to send proof of having met in the last 2 years (boarding passes, photos together etc). Later you need to provide evidence of ongoing relationship which includes emails, phone record, more photos etc. Also look at link to Embassy and Embassy review (top of this page on blue line)for your fiancee's Embassy requirements. Keep a copy of what you send with your initial petition and check everything so you dont leave anything out or this can cause delays. Keep checking VJ to stay informed (it helps). Best of luck.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresThe Other One
I would have thought it would be part of a conversation during your relationship that your fiance/ee knows of any previous marriage or long term relationship (name, age etc of previous spouse or partner) and in that sense the interviewer may use that to find out how well you know each other.
