Thanks. Will use up my last UK ones then and get US ones taken afterwards whilst I'm in london to have them for my interview........whenever that will be.

I'm sorry. I know I'm not from UK and maybe it wasn't my place to answer. It's just that the US photo requirements were sent to me by my embassy...for the medical

United KingdomMedical/Interview question
Yeah they will most likely issue the 221g saying that they need additional documentation and issue the visa later. That's not a ground for a refusal. I do believe that the medical will be ready before the interview though!

The employers are sending out W-2 forms at the end of January. You'll get it sometimes in February.

So this is a greaaaat relief!!!!
Thank you! I love Visajourney!!! This site is unbelievable!

I have a question regarding this matter smile.gif
I also have my passport in my maiden name (not possible to change in my Country..) and my Green Card will be in my married name. Now, the Green Card is also asked at the departure airport overseas, not just at the POE in the US, because if you're traveling without a return ticket you need to have either a Green Card or a visa that allows you to stay longer than 3 months. Now, I'm worried that when I will try to come back from Italy and I will show my Green Card with a different name other than passport and ticket, it will be a problem.
Can anyone reassure me on this matter?
Thank you!!

That is actually a very good question. I am not sure how this whole thing will work. I think what I will personally do is take my marriage certificate and while in my home country I will translate and legalize it. I think the customs will put 2+2 together after that.

Hi guys,
I am stressing out in regards to traveling to my home-country of Moldova. Buying a ticket and flying to Romania (taking a train to Moldova afterwards) would save my husband, I and my in-laws more than 1/2 of the price. I have my green card in my married name, my passport in my maiden name and I need a visa for Romania when I fly in.
I am scared they are going to give me a hard time at the airport in terms of allowing me to go into the country just because I have two names.
Are my fears reasonable?
Thank you,
Elena

I'm an airline employee. What kind of ID do you have? If you are traveling international you WILL need a passport. You can either A) Use the name as it appears on your passport or cool.gif Use your current name with government documented letter of "Change" or marriage certificate.

Hi there,
First of all, thank you very much for replying so promptly! I appreciate it greatly. Although I am not flying home fore another year, I would like to reserve tickets now since they are much more reasonable.
If reserving flights directly to Chisinau, Moldova, I would pay $1,200.
If I would fly to Bucharest, Romania, I would pay $600. We're talking about 4 hours by train from Bucharest to my home town in Moldova. It would save a LOT of money to 4 people that are flying to visit my parents next year.

I have:
1) A National Passport (Moldovan) with my Maiden Name
2) A Green Card in my Married name
3) I have a Marriage Certificate (US) with my Maiden Name showing whom I married
4) Driver's License with my Married Name
5) Social Security Card with my maiden name (have not had a chance to change that yet)
6) I can have my USSR birth Certificate Translated and Legalized in Moldova
7) I have a Moldovan Identification Card with my Maiden name

My greatest concern is not related to boarding the plane in the US. My greatest concern is getting out of the Airport in Romania w/o problems. I just don't know if they are going to believe my name change or not. Because in Bucharest, I will be the only guide available for my in-laws and my husband in regards to getting to Moldova. I'm scared they are going to send me back or something just because they are not going to understand my ID's and the English Marriage Certificate.

Thank you soo very much again!
Elena

Can I get arrested? She has threatn me couple times during argument for calling COPS.

we are sleepin seprate rooms
our checking account is in same bank
we have join loan on car
those are only two things so far we have together

I want to give her atleast 5 months more to adjust. I dont want to be rude to her but If i withdraw petition after 5 months can she still call cops on me? I am scared of legal stuff now

I don't know but I do know a case of a girl hurting herself and bruising herself and claiming being abused. I guess it's who's going to do it first. I guess you should go to the police yourself first and tell them she's threatening you with them and she says she's planning on claiming abuse. Than go to the immigration office and tell them you want to withdraw the petition and that you are being threatened by her. Than go and stay with a friend for a while....hopefully away and give her a deadline to move out. If it is your place announce the police about the deadline you want her to move out. Or just ask for what they would do. Make sure that both, the police and the immigration office know all the issues.
If what you're saying is true...I personally think she should be deported. People like that don't deserve the benefits of living in the US.
If you're trying to "give her time" I think you're a little out of your mind. If you have a rppf of her cheating when what the hell are you waiting for?

PS: If you have proof it would be great in the court and the guy I told you about....got arrested and put in jail because of a......

My annual salary is around 54K....Plus around a 10k to 15k Christmas bonus ??

I also have a condo which i rent out ...im a residential manager in Manhattan NY and i get an apartment in the building i manage.

Should i put one of my mortgage statements?? I get the rent in cash , so im not sure if its smart to provide it being that i dont report it as an income, which its not because the rent still doesnt cover the full mortgage payment.

The poverty line is around 13k/ yr smile.gif You have 54K...you have nothing to worry about...The letter from the employer, the W2's and the tax returns will be more than enough as long as the Affidavit of Support is filled out properly

than you have absolutely nothing to worry about. About the account...THe romanian embassy sent me the info in Package 3 stating what I need to bring to the interview with me. From what I've read, if your tax return exceeds the 125% poverty line then you don't really need to provide a bank statement showing when you opened the account and the sum amount deposited for the past 12 months.

no the bank statement is really just one of the supporting documents and it's totally optional

I mean letters from the employers, copies of tax returns, bank statements and all of that. Also, don't make the mistake I made. oh wait...i just checked your timeline. From what I understood the embassy is interested in the evidence that would prove that you have an ongoing relationship from the moment of the application for the visa until the moment of the interview. That included phone cards, phone statement (if she ever called you from her home she can present that). You can submit anything that is stamped (postcards, letters). That also includes e-mails, instant messengers and pictures.

Africa: Sub-SaharanVISA APPROVVVVVVVVVVED

Hello My African Brothers and Sisters,
Thanks for all your prayers and thoughts. God Answered your prayers this morning. My wife's visa was approved today at the US embassy in Dakar, Senegal. I was a little quite for a while and I apologise for that. I was just going by my culture, "NEVER TO REVEAL AN UPCOMING IMPORTANT EVENT UNTIL IT OCCURS. This may be a little backward but I believe in it.

Any ways a little detail. Her interview was actually on Tues, March 20. I went with her to the embassy at 7:00 for a 7:30AM appointment, well prepared with albums e-mails and tonnes of phone records, letters, greeting cards and days of practicing questions downloaded from VJ. Just like the usual procedure we came after many, but the moment I show them my US passport they told me to bring all her documents to the front, thus making her the first to called. Then a long wait may be one hour. Our number was called, 301 and we went to the window, met this Senegalese lady who was really nice. she brought out my wife's file, I saw all the documents I submitted to the USCIS and the NVC. Then she asked for my wife's passport and later her passport size pictures. Then she gave back her birth certificate which we had submitted to the NVC during their process. Then she told us to sit and that she will be called by her name this time. You sit just a few feet from where you interview. so everyone can here the questions. There was even a longer wait, may be 2 hours and then we were called for the interview. I went with her to the window and the counular officer asked who I was and I told him I am the husband. He then told me to go have a sit while he interviews my wife. I sat at the corner nervous. These are the questions. My birth date? how old is your husband. How did you meet? When where you married? Then we had a little glitch. He asked my wife where I work and my wife replied NC Dept. of Health and human services? Then he asked what is his position and my wife said "Surveillance Data Manger". Then I was called to the window. The counsular officer said the employer letter I sent to the NVC indicated I am a Statistician. I said yes I was and now I got promoted to the surveillance data manager. Then he asked what is the difference and I explained.
He then said I have to get another employer letter. I thought this was a little stupid but have no choice. Then we scrambled through the pile of documents pretending to have the letter. Then he said I can get the letter and reschedule for another date. I argued that I have to leave for the US on saturday, then he said I do not have to be there, the visa is approved pending the employer letter. Then I went back to my hotel, e-mailed my supervisor and then he faxed me the letter. Then I bought the interview scheduling phone card for 7800 CFA and then called hoping to get thursday 22 of march. The lady on the other side of the telephone told me the only available date is tuesday 27 (Today). We went this morning, this time I showed them my Passport and the lady said we have to join the line. We did and went through security. We were called to the window and the lady took the employer letter and the form that was given to us by the counsular officer on tuesday March 20. Then she said "I will show it to my supervisor" and told us to have seat. 10 or 15 mins later, she came back and gave us a small pink note card to pick up the visa on thursday march 29.

I am so happy and feel blessed I wish all other VJers success in their process.

I will not be fair to myself if I do not make mention of some VJ members whom I had to e-mail or message when I had a question. Aussiwench, Yodrak and Simple_male. These and others are just super helpful.

Well...I'm not African but I am still very very very very happy for you :-P

I sort of agree with what people are saying.
It's not about the mother anymore...it's about the other half and parents should understand that
On the other hand, it will change anyways...It doesnt really matter if you leave in less than two weeks or in 3 weeks. I know the wife is discouraged but she's going to have you for herself forever.
Might not hurt to do this one last thing like you mom wants
Things will change from now on whether your mom wants it or not..

Hey all. I am about to send the needed info to my fiance and wanted to know if I got everything in order. I got the:

Employer letter
Notarized Affidavit of support
Bank statements
Birth certificate
K-1 package that was sent in beginning of journey
Proof of ongoing relationship such as Phone card transactions and stuff

As for the birth certificate, did any of you send the original or the copy, or does it make any difference? I know that the Lagos consulate is so different from the others. Can anyone update me on this. Thanks. good.gif

Is this about all I need?

So far this whole thing is hat mikey is preparing for me. From what I understood it would also be good to get the latest 2-3 paystubs and notarized copies of tax returns (with the Affidavit of support).
Does the american fiance have to send a birth certificate? I didn't know that...hmm...

It took me 167 days out of Vermont Service Center to get to NOA2. I don't think they are as fast as they once were, so don't bank on that happening. This process is unpredictable. Actually, you can predict one thing, you're gonna wait and they aren't going to tell you for how long.
