I do agree. This is not normal. It's usually the NOA2 people are waiting forever for, not NOA1. I'm sorry you have to go through this

Hmm...i dont know...it just looks kind of weird. I dont want to sound pessimistic at all but it just looks like she wasnt sure she wanted to marry so it's not clear whether she loves you or not. And it's not me at all judging. It's how the embassy might look at it you know what i mean?
I do agree with the post above. She has to have a good and a straightforward explanation!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWaiting for NOA2--Getting Ready
Well they can pretty much ask for any RFE's. Those could be pictures together or some more proof of having met in the past 2 years or a properly translated birth certificate or more proof for the, I don't know...financial support for example. I mean there can be many things and I believe you should just wait and see what's up when you get it. That if it will ever happen (I REALLY HOPE IT WONT)
Other than that, getting ready is pretty much getting the documents that will be needed by the embassy. Please follow this link. You will see the list at the bottom of the page but I would still advise you to worry about it when you get your NOA2. It is your call of course smile.gif Maybe the earlier, the better wink.gif

USCIS Processing Times and Case Status
November 24th, 2007

From the USCIS:

Applications are processed in the order they are received by application type. The average processing times for all applications are posted on our website. Processing times are an estimate of how long it will take to complete your case. Each case is different; so some cases may take longer than others. You can use your receipt to check your case status on Case Status Online (See the “Related Links” section of this page). Please be advised that we will only research your case if it is beyond our posted processing times (You can also find a link to processing times in the Related Links section).

The processing times are for applications that have been just completed. If you have just filed your application, these timeframes may not reflect how long your application will take to be completed. We encourage you to check processing times before inquiring about your case. The processing times are updated monthly.

USCIS has received a significant increase in the number of applications filed. In July and August, nearly 2.5 million applications and petitions of all types were received. This compares to 1.2 million applications and petitions received in the same time period last year. This fiscal year, we received 1.4 million applications for naturalization; nearly double the volume we received the year before. The agency is working to improve processes and focus increased resources, including hiring approximately 1,500 new employees, to address this workload.

As a result, average processing times for certain application types may become longer. In particular, naturalization applications filed after June 1, 2007 may take approximately 16 - 18 months to process.

When your application is received by a USCIS Service Center or the National Benefits Center, we will mail you a receipt notice. The receipt notice will have all of the important information you need about your case. With your receipt number you can check the status of your case on our website and also register on our website for automatic case status updates as we process your case.

For more information about when and how to contact us, whether your case is outside our processing time, or if there are other issues, please see our customer guide Case Services - How Do I… know what kind of services are available to me after I file my application or petition? also available in the Related Links section of this page.

My fiancé lives in Ukraine. As was preparing our I-129F, I noticed that the passport stamps for entry and exit to Ukraine are in Cyrillic. Is it necessary to get the stamps translated for the I-129F submission? Thanks

To show evidence that we have met in the past two years. The stamps along with boarding passes establish when I was in Ukraine.

hm...I am from Moldova myself and Mikey submitted the visas he had. Yes, they will understand. Plus, if you have flight itineraries they are also acceptable...that's also what mikey submitted.

Jorge (a Peruvian) and I just received our NOA2 approval notice yesterday, we had to wait a longer time than I had expected but we are very thankful that God answered our prayers and we have finally been approved. Now my question is... while my fiance is waiting for his package to arrive from the embassy what can he be doing? And what is all this about a medial exam? is that something that he has to wait to get until his package arrives or can he start on that before? Any info really from anyone who has gotten the VISA with a Peruvian fiance would be super helpful...like...how long does the package usually take to arrive? Does the embassy give us our interview date or does Jorge have to arrange it? Lots of questions! God Bless!

First of all CONGRATS with your NOA2
While your waiting is waiting for his interview he can obtain the police certificate from his country and any other countries he lived in for over 6 months since the age of 16, usually they are asking for 2 passport size photos (5X5 cm...you can find the exact requirements in guides i believe), make a copy of the passport (biographical page), legalized copy of the birth certificate (I also translated it). The medical examination can be done anytime since it is valid for 1 year. I think there are specific hospitals and i do think they have the necessary forms there too but check out your embassy's info on this site under "embassy info". They usually list the hospitals, the addresses and the phone numbers...you can make the appointment any time and call them asking if they have the forms...or you can just wait for the package. he can gather any form of an ongoing relationship from the moment of filing until the interview...that is all i can remember at the moment

Thank you for your comments. She is in Canada to accompany her immigrant mother but has now exceeded her visitor status. So sending a letter to the Vancouver consulate is ok? There is no actual form to fill out for transferring the application to another embassy or consulate? How about the extension? Where can we get it?

Mike never filed an official form. He just wrote what I presented above and faxed it to the new embassy. The new embassy then requested the documents from the previous embassy and the case is processed in the new location.

The following is the link for NOA2 extension request: I-797C Extention
Again...there is no official form

ok there it goes

Attention Immigrant Visa Unit

To whom it may concern:

This letter is meant as a request to transfer an open case for I-129F Alien Fiance from the US Embassy in Sofia Bulgaria, to your embassy in Bucharest, Romania. This is because my fiance will be graduating from her college in Bulgaria, and returning home to [address], Moldova in such time that it will not allow her to complete the visa process in Bulgaria. She has not yet applied for the visa at the Sofia embassy, and we wish to have the case transferred, and handled in Bucharest due to her moving home following graduation.

Here are the case details:
NVC Case # SOF-2007-XXX-XXX
Beneficiary: XXX XXX
DOB: xx/xx/xxxx

Petitioner: XXX XXX
DOB: xx/xx/xxxx
SSN: XXX-XX-XXXX

Her Current address at college is:
Address, room #
City ZIP Code
Bulgaria
Phone # XXX XXX XXX XXX

After her coming graduation, she will return to her home in Moldova:
Address
City, Zip Code
Republic of Moldova
Phone #: XXX-XXX-XX-XXX

I appreciate your time, and look forward to the case proceeding at your office.
Any questions please don't hesitate to contact either myself, or my fiance.

Sincerely,
Signature

Address
City, Zip Code, USA
Phone Number XXX XXX XXXX
Email: XXXXX

After receiving this request, the embassy in Romania contacted the embassy in Bulgaria and had our case transfered. If, however, you run out of time with your NOA2 there is a form that would request an extension for 4 more months from the embassy.

I really hope this will help

The petition will be automatically forwarded to the correct consulate (in your case, Vancouver). This kind of thing happens often enough that they know where to direct it to.

If it gets transferred to MTL, email them and tell them to transfer it back to VAN asap.

That should work!

You should call them and ask. If they already transfered the case, at leas they will tell you where they sent it. Once you track it down, if it went to Montreal, ask the one in Montreal to forward it to Vancouver....but I hope it will automatically sent to Vancouver!
If it's still at NVC, maybe you can tell them the new embassy!

I know..I was actually wondering myself

I couldn't be in China for the interview, so my wife had a notarized true copy of each page of my passport as evidence of my visits to China.

My insurance agent often notarizes the picture and any visa pages applicable to a given trip so people can carry separate from their actual passport, as an aid in replacing the passport, if needed.

Oh I see...Cool

Hey guys, I was wondering where they mail your Packet 3 for a I-129, after NVC has passed it on? Do they mail that information to the petitioner or the fiance? I don't know if I should mail the original documents to my fiance or keep them with me?

THanks so much that is helpful, so basically we should mail copies of our documents and save the originals to take to the interview?

If you're only planning on filing now than follow these guides exaclty. They will tell you what exactly you need to send:
K-1 Guides

If you need help with filling out some of the forms you can use the K-1 example forms:
Example Forms

Whe you mail I-129 to a service center...they will send you your first notification of action...NOA2...After that they will be processing your case and issue your NOA2. They can also ask for a RFE along the way...which is pretty much additional information...hopefully not.
After that, the Service Center sends the documents to the embassy and the embassy is issueing Packet 3...The fiance fills hte forms up and sends it back. After that she/he receives packet 4 with exact guides and list of the documents needed at the interview. smile.gif The original package you will submit is a "just in case" tool....

Oh and there is some info about your embassy...Albanians are awesome people btw smile.gif))
