Hi guys posting here after a long time. still my RFE is on review and filed a service request too, but no answer or movement yet. I think every one else got their approvals right ? :clock:

I think there are still a few of you out there waiting. We are still here, a more intimate group than on the NVC forum. Good luck, hope you hear on your RFE soon! :)

Wow! That was fast! Let's hope it is a sign of things to come. Congrats on the news, and let's keep each other posted. The NVC thread is so long and has so many people on it so if you would like to PM me, that's great. I don't mind posting here tho too, it will keep the thread going for sure! :)

I will keep you posted, I can't keep up with the NVC thread, leave it a few days and you're completely lost.
[/quote]

I know what you mean. I read up a little bit in there, but it is really hard to follow a single convo, or track the answer to a question sometimes. I follow the NVC for Canadians forum in the Canada portal, but I also plan on lurking here with my buds :). Much easier than weeding through several pages a day on the NVC forum.

Hmmm...that posted strangely

Wow! Good luck to you. Hope everything works out that way for you! :)

Hi guys,
Just to update you as we're in similar time frames.
After I called and they told me they got the case on 27th August, they said to wait 30 business days.
My partner came to visit me in the UK on the 5th-16th and when he returned home yesterday, we had a letter from NVC with case number.IIN, Info on how to submit the DS-261 & Pay AOS fee - this was sent on September 8th.
So that was actually 9 - Business days.
I have submitted the DS-261 now and My husband will make the fee later today.

I hope this gives you guys some hope :)

Good luck for the same speedy times and I'll keep you updated.

Thanks Maureen

Wow!!!  Looks like things are picking up at the NVC.  Super news!!!!  Maybe, by the time I get there, things will be back to normal and the complete process will be back to 4-6 weeks!!!!! :joy:  :joy:

Gosh I hope you get some good news, or at least some movement forward soon! It sure would be great if they could shorten those wait times a bit..

I canNOT believe the BS you guys are going through.  It's SO NOT FAIR!  I really hope you get that interview sooner than later.  I think at this point I would rally the troops (so to say..) and go at them with everything in the arsenal - congressman, ombudsman, senator...some I can't even think of cuz I am no smarty in this process.  Are you guys thinking of bringing a lawyer into it?  I remember reading on VJ here someplace, there is one whose name gets tossed around here a lot.  I wish there was something we could do here...

I will touch base with you this week...try to stay positive (I know it's hard...and maddening).  I am here with ya :)

FYI: NVC informed me today that as of Sept. 11th they received and input my approved I-130 in their system, and that within 30 days a case number will be assigned.

Hey my friend! How are you doing? I just called them today too, and it took less than an hour to talk to a real person (beginner's luck I guess :) ). My case was received on Sept. 10th, so I am in the same loop as you!

Anyone else from TSC?

I have been out of the loop the last several days.  We are on a road trip from North Dakota to California.  Just got here last night.  I see my good friend and fellow Canuck is still stuck here, I am following you guys still.  Just stopped in to offer my prayers and support to all of you stuck in here.  **Big Hugs**  (L)

I was over at the NVC thread and noticed they're speaking about fee increases. As of September 12th the AOS and IV fees will increase.

AOS now $88 will be $120
IV now $230 will be $325

What a joke after they take so long to do their jobs. Grrrrr!!!!!!!

Hey guys, just got email and text that our approved I-130 case was shipped to NVC today:

On August 26, 2014, we shipped this approved or re-affirmed case to the Department of State for visa processing. For more information, please contact them directly.

Ours was approved on the 15th, so 1 week, 4 days later they shipped FYI.

So you got another email? I haven't received anything except for the original approval email which said they approved the petition. So I am guessing mine probably wasn't shipped out any faster than yours. Interesting...

I heard from my attorney that currently it takes 1.5 - 2 months from you get NOA2 to take an invoice from NVC.

Just for information

I am not surprised, so I am not even going to start calling until second week of September when I am back in Canada from my vacation.  By then they should be able to at least give me my case number. :)

Thanks Dualie, all I saw they ask for is proof of income such as tax transcripts. I'm sure it's not that easy lol! Anyways, I got my NOA2 hard copy yesterday in the mail, exactly 1 week after approval. Instruccions simply say to wait at least 30 days for NVC to contact me about my case and if they don't, to call them instead.

Saylin says to start calling after a couple of weeks, but they are pretty backlogged so I am giving it a month, and then if I don't here anything I will start calling.  I am going on a holiday anyway and I am still waiting on a document.  Hopefully the process will be moving for me by end September.. :)

Have you read the guides and wikis on the NVC process?  Saylin tells you everything you need to know there.  Just remember that times will be a little longer because of the recent delays and backlogs.

Hi domo22!  I put in an eRequest and was approved around 4 or 5 days after.  After I got the approval email, I got an email like this, except it told the actual date of approval.  I guess it depends what kind of inquiry you made as to whether they include the approval date.  My guess is that this email was generated so closely after approval that it hasn't shown in the system yet.  But you are correct in believing what they state in the email...you have been approved!   Congratulations!  :joy: :joy: :joy:

I should add that you should get an actual approval email, and you should see a change on the USCIS website soon.  Good luck in NVC my friend!  :)

Well mrs thb, I have been fishing around and it looks as though you can hire a lawyer whenever you want.  From what I have read though, and I am sure you already know this, you lose a lot of control over the process when you have a lawyer involved.  And...they tend to get snippy if you go digging around at NVC without them.   So, if you don't mind relinquishing control of the process, and possibly having the process take a little longer (because it's not YOU calling NVC nagging at them for every invoice and online form) then you can hire a lawyer to field your way through.

This is all I have been able to find on many different forum sites.  They pretty much all say the same thing.

I'm outa here now...have a great weekend!

i'm with him....me very happy!!!!  great weather here everyday....our joke is..... for everyday i get rain and grey skies, i give him sunshine and blue!  on occasion (when he feels he's had enough) he lends me the sunshine and takes rain!!!  yip, 360 days of blue and yellow here.  hence, why i am moving and not him.

question.....are lawyers hired on mid-way???  ie mid way through the uscis journey?

Hmmm...I see this whole process in three steps (in my little brain).   I would think that an immigration lawyer wouldn't object too much at helping at the NVC step.  Maybe post this question in the NVC forum, or...because I am such a research geek, I will poke around here in VJ and see if I can scare something up.

Enjoy your time together!  Sunshine and blue skies....and a unicorn or two for good luck! :goofy:  :goofy:

so how are my friends doing at the nvc?  breathing easier these days i bet.  :D

well, its nice nice knowing i have friends there now so i can get first hand info on the process....and have a cheering squad for that process too.

i wish i can help with some of your questions....and sure i might, so keep posting away!  saylin's wiki is awesome as are others....seems like everyday i read something new.

my most recent timbit of info....adjudicators actually like immigration lawyers doing the filing; they're more organized and thorough. although i'd like to think ours was highly organized and thorough, i'm left questioning if it was.

question for y'all.....have people hired imm. lawyers mid way?  and if so, who gets the lawyer?  the petitioner or the beneficiary?

cheers to a bright sunny afternoon! :energy:

Hi there mrs thb!  :)  Things don't seem to be moving any faster at NVC that they are at the service centers, from what I have been reading.  I am a research nerd, so I have been into those forums for a while now.  I'll keep you posted on the progress, but I really don't expect any movement for at least 4 weeks, maybe longer.  That's me, I always (try to) keep my expectations low.

As for your timbit :) on adjudicators and lawyers...I just bet they love lawyers, they don't pay them!  I am no expert by any stretch, but I would not even think of hiring a lawyer to do what I can do for free.  I'm cheap, and not rich...lol!  Now, if your case has complications where an immigration lawyer's help would be beneficial, they absolutely.  And I know there are a lot of people who do not do well with forms and stuff, I get that...or they don't have the time or energy to tackle this process.  Understood.

For NVC, if a lawyer were necessary, I would think it would be the beneficiary who would hire the lawyer as it is primarily the beneficiary who is applying for the visa.  That's just my ever-so-humble opinion.  That being said, as a married couple, what difference does it make who hires the lawyer?  Just sayin'...:D

Where are you that it's so sunny?  We had torrential rain here in Winnipeg, flooded streets, power outages...and the weekend is not looking much better.  But cheers back at ya :energy: !!

Dualie, I'm kinda lost when it comes to the exact list of docs I have to send with the I-864EZ FORM when it's time. The website doesn't list the necessary docs for each form to include with them. If you know what they are, can you share a link?

It tells you right on the form.  I got this link off Saylin's Wiki on Electronic Processing for Montreal Beneficiaries, but it would apply to anybody who uses the form.  Let me know if the link works for you.

So I just called NVC and wanted to check the status of our approved case. The lady that answered said that it can take up to 5 weeks until they get the case in their hands, and another 30 days until they start working on it! I understand the 30 days before someone touches it since there are so many others, but 5 weeks!! So that's a total of about 9 weeks, meaning more than 2 months before I can start working on this! :(
RobbieG, did they at NVC get your case yet?

I kinda expected that.  I'm not even going to start calling until 4 weeks...it will give me a chance to go over all my docs (for the millionth time :) ) and pre-fill some of the forms before we start sending them the money.  Working on the immunizations and still waiting on a German Police Check.  If they email me in the meantime saying they have received my case, well bonus time!

Unfortunately the backlog that USCIS suffered way back, has backlogged NVC now.  I am not surprised.  All we can do is hope and pray that things will pick up in a timely fashion....and cheer our friends in this forum on!  :)

I just checked the USCIS website and it said that our I130 was approved!!   :joy:  :D I can't believe it!!

And you know something, I really believe that this forum of feb filers is the best. The energy here is so positive and so spiritual! I really believe that helps!

When I was down, someone in the forum mentioned that I should pray. Even though I hadn't prayed in a very long time, I something deep down told me they were right and I decided that I should try.. So for the first time in ages, I prayed last week and now a week later we have our approval!!! Sending all of you strength and don't lose faith.

Maybe turning to prayer can help all of us get through this! Best of luck to everyone!

YAYYY!!!  Congrats to you and your love!! :joy:  :joy: :joy:  :joy:  :joy:  See what positive energy and prayers can do?  Let's hang on to that and spread it over all of us here in this forum (L) .  Best of luck to you in NVC, and lot of prayers and positive vibes out to all of those still waiting!!

thanks again for elaborating.  i really appreciate it.

we are together again...last hurrah of the summer, then i return back to work (sigh).  we got talking about our last I 797C notice (the most recent one stating the transfer to NBC) and there's no reference of time noted on it.  it just states "to speed up the processing we have transferred your case to NBC".  at the info pass appt he was told 'everything is cleared, you should hear something soon....that was 6 days ago and nothing. so, we booked another info pass appt and i'm attending.  hoping this might have some impact on our case moving forward.

i was so optimistic but spirits are on the decline.....its difficult to be up when so little points up!!!!

help me out here people.

Called back again, spoke to another tier 2 agent.

This guy told me that the original RFE was from Nebraska, it doesn't matter now though since the RFE isn't mailed out to me. It is in a new agent's hands at the CSC, and I should hear something within the next 48 hours if I am passed, or RFE'd. So the whole process begins again for me, but he said the security checks are done and we passed those, which is nice.

The tier 2 agent broke the process down for me - It's few months of security checks, your SO's name being run through their databases, when that is cleared youre sent to the next step which is the box opening ceremony with the USCIS agent/officer who then browses your file. which takes up to 48 hours/1/2 weeks depending on the USCIS center.

Wow.  Just, wow.  Love the way the stories fly at USCIS!  Happy to hear that you have finally (hopefully) have found out what is really happening with your case.  Hopefully by the end of this week for you.  I'm rooting for you!  :)

to those whom just got approved....you are very very lucky.  i've been in dialogue with some january filers (since i'm on the cusp of jan/feb i thought i'd be friends with them too), and many of them still have heard no word.  3 of them are from nsc.

my feb filer friends are very, very lucky.

i want to be lucky too!!!!

btw the way, that nvc aug thead moves very quickly....you gotta stay on it to stay fresh.  you are not obliged to be on it regularly but its viewed by many.  the first post is super, super informative!!!!!

dualie you might enjoy the nvc thread for canadians in the canada country thread.....just passing on some tid bits. ;)  ;)   haha, you thought i said tim bits, didn't you????  :D

Mmmmm......Timbits!    I will be following both NVC threads, cuz I don't want to lose touch with my other buds from here.  On a serious note though, I noticed that NSC had a big backlog of Dec and Jan filers a while back...a much bigger list than the other service centers, and I wish I knew what gives.  I think I am feeling some kind of "survivors' guilt" or something...I really do feel bad for you guys who have been waiting so long.  If they would only just tell you what is going on instead of making you jump through a million flaming hoops.  I know I was getting frustrated with my wait...I can only imagine how you guys feel.  All I can do is offer up my strongest prayers and good vibes and hope with you that you get approvals soon. Well, I just got back from the INFOPASS.

They told me, last Thursday an RFE was sent out and I should be receiving it in the mail today or tomorrow. Now the thing is - the website never updated to say I was RFEd? The lady was very confused by this, but that is all the information she could of gave me at the current time.

Atleast its something. Has anyone else heard about being RFE'd though and never getting the website alert, but the letter in the mail?

No experience with RFEs but from what I have read, they won't/can't tell you what the RFE is for.  Just send whatever it is as soon as you get the notice.  At least they are working on your case, right?  I sure hope you get your approval soon!  :)

My dear friends and almost family, it is with great pleasure and happiness that I can give you all this message: "On August 15, 2014, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN. Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283".
I'm extremely happy! I do want to tell my buds Don123, and Mrs thb that this happened in a very weird way, but also everyone else please check this out: I got the text and email last night (Sunday the 17th) at 11:00pm on the dot even though I've been approved since Friday and I've been checking twice an hour even over the weekend and it showed up as pending still!! So when you least expect it it'll happen for you too! I want to thank Dualie for praying for us all and for crossing her fingers and toes lol, it works better when the toes are closed too!! But most importantly, I want to thank God for having given me the patience to withstand this excruciating painful first step. I will be here until Mrs thb and Don123 get approved! We're here for you guys!! Love ya all!!

:joy:  :joy: :joy:  :joy:  :joy:  :joy:  :joy:  :joy:  :joy:  :joy:

YAAAAYYY!!!!!!!!

Finally!  I am so happy for you!!!  I'm so happy my crossed toes worked for you!  Made it kinda hard to walk but I was mostly driving yesterday anyway...

That's so weird you would get the email and text on a Sunday night, and I got it before 9AM on Friday.  Oh well, YOU ARE APPROVED!!   Best of luck in the next step...NVC ought to be really fun...LOL!  :)

Well, I did my e-request, I have a senator backing the paperwork which is a good friend of the family, 6month, 2nd week starts tomorrow - so hopefully we'll hear something or have some fog cleared monday.

Also, the scary part - a month and 2 weeks I believe ago, I was transferred to TSC, then CSC. CSC is known to be lightning fast, and its moving like a snail for me.

*gulp* :|

Good luck chrisaivey!  Hopefully you will hear something in a few days.  Fingers are crossed for you!  :)
