PhilippinesDid you guys have to wait long for the releasing at St Lukes?
On the 2nd day, i had to wait until 8:30 PM (I was asked to come back at 2:30 PM) for my X-ray and Vaccination results. It really depends - they don't release it in order...you'll have to wait for the doctors to finish reviewing your results i guess.

Philippineswork permit and ssn for K3
QUOTE (docjazzie @ Mar 29 2008, 01:03 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
thank you all for your replies....i think i might have gotten the gist of it (and i thought we're done with the hardest part of paperworks!) tongue.gif

so correct me if i'm wrong, i can file for an EAD and once i get it, file for SSN then apply for a job and wait til we've been married for 2 years before filing for AOS. This way, I wont have to file for removal of conditions? An EAD cost $345 or something...

or we can file for AOS +EAD and will get an SSN automatically and wait around60-90 days before I can apply for a job. But if we do it this way, we still have to file for removal of conditions? An AOS $1010...

hmm.....Mari, when did u apply for AOS? smile.gif

thanks again, everyone.

Any news on your doc verification, edp33? smile.gif

Hi doc (and to all on the thread!),

I filed my AOS and EAD at the same time last Tuesday, March 25. Well, i also now have a good idea of what needs to be done. Well, i guess i did the right thing by applying AOS immediately after my arrival here. From the looks of it, either the AOS will get approved first or EAD...in any case i have plan A and plan B covered. Btw, my wife and i will probably visit the local office on Monday and try to get a SSN for me if they allow it. If they do, ill also try to get a driver's license ASAP and make myself useful around here by being the designated driver for my wife. hahaha!

Well, good luck and hope we get to work soon. Our spouses will need all the help they can get so that we can start building future we would like for ourselves.

Thanks everyone!

Philippineswork permit and ssn for K3
I'm on the same boat as with docjazzie...so, just to make things clear now (and if we did the right thing! wacko.gif )...we do need to file AOS and EAD first before we get to have our SSN and be able to work right? Coz i already sent my AOS and EAD and i'm afraid that i did the wrong thing... wacko.gif

I was also under the impression that when you get either your EAD or AOS you'll automatically get a SSN assigned to you but after reading this thread, it seems to me that they are 3 very different "concepts"...

Any additional clarification will be greatly appreciated! good.gif

Thanks!

PhilippinesAre you the BIGGEST LOSER?
Well, i am not yet in the States but had to lose weight because i know when i get there i'll get fatter because of the food. After our wedding (May 2007) i ballooned to 220 lbs (by the way, im a "he") but after hitting the gym everyday and eating right im now a "leaner" me at 180 lbs and my wife loves my new body...hahaha! About 20 lbs overweight - my ideal weight should be around 160 lbs for someone at 5'8". kicking.gif

Hey guys,

quick question though: Can i K-3 apply for a SSN already as soon as he's in the States?

Thanks!

No , u have to apply first the EAD if ur will not apply the AOS at the same time , u cant get SSN until u hve the EAD card. and the EAD fee is 340 , mine took 42 days from filling in vermont center , I also applied for SSN last friday in moss point mississippi , it said in my letter 2 wks. I guess it vary every state how long it would be received.

Thanks for the reply! I already filed my AOS and EAD a week ago...hope everything turns out well! Just wanted to know if i can get around the process hahaha! good.gif

just wanted to ask if the releasing of passport (renewal) is fast.. will you still fall in line like what you did during application or its more easy?

the renewed passport is scheduled for release on the 8th in the afternoon, they did not put any specific time in the receipt, they just wrote "8 April pm"
we will pick it up on the 8th around 12 noon time.. do u think that's a good time or should we pick it up earlier? is there a tremendous line for receiving?

thank you very much for replies blush.gif

Releasing is quite fast...you'll be out in 15 to 30 minutes time...be there at 1 PM...they take lunch breaks at 12 noon... good.gif

Thank you MariEnMichelle smile.gif where is the receiving area? gate 2? gate 3? they did not tell me blink.gif

Im not sure what gate number it is but you go thru the back area...where you entered when you first filed your renewal...ask the guards there...they'll assist you and tell you where to go...it inside with airconditioning with chairs...windows with letters posted to it...sit in front of the window where the first letter of your surname is posted...hope this helps...smile.gif

Hello Everyone,
My filipina fiancee K1 visa was approved April 2nd, and she lives in Dipolog City, what would be a good guess for her getting her Visa delivered to her?

Congratulations! As per Delbros, they deliver 3 to 5 days when in provincial areas. However, it also takes 2 to 3 days before the US Embassy releases it to Delbros for delivery. Anyways, hang on tight...it'll be there before you know it... good.gif

PhilippinesWife's family demanding money
My 2 cents on the matter...

Your family (meaning you and your wife) should be your 1st priority...i mean if you a centavo left in your pocket and say this is your last money...then here comes someone from your extended family asking for help from you...i say you keep the centavo for you and your wife instead of giving it to them diba? The point im driving at is that not all your money should be given to your extended family...its ok to help but you and your wife and your kids should be your 1st priority...im sure they'll understand if you tell them nicely that...you are also trying to build a family and practically a new life when you migrate to the US...and money there is earned...its not like picking it from a tree or something...

do i make sense? well, just ignore if i do not hehehe!

PhilippinesISANG MUNTING HAMON

Nagmamahal,

Xerex

Our visa was delayed due to document verification even though it was payed on January 7th a full month before the interview. A Verification of receiving the text was sent by DELBROS. Today, we contacted DELBROS to find out when they forwarded our Document Verification to the US Embassy Manila. After giving our case number DELBROS discovered the Doc Verification was never sent, so they said it would be sent today. That is a 5 week and 4 day delay. This has caused my wife's visa to be put on AR. Estimated time 4 to 6 weeks.

I strongly suggest you call DELBROS after your text message verification to make sure they have forwarded the information. Nobody wants their visa delayed. The phone number is 2-339-2761.

Thank you for the great news. We are really going to call to make sure everything is fine! good.gif

can i do document verification while still in NVC and waiting for appointment dates? and packets ** sorry for my ignorance **

You'll need your NVC case number before you can do document verification...now as soon as you get your NVC case number call the Manila Embassy if they have received your case or visit this URL: http://203.177.135.1...tment/login.asp and see if you already have an interview schedule...once you have it then do document verification and do not forget to call them and confirm if they have received your document verification payment just as edp333 adviced...
