I agree with hyacent she is a working citizen who does not have enough income. She is trying her best . I think you all BASH people to quick You all are a bunch of BASHERS. Stoop the bashing on here and get a life

I don't see anybody bashing the OP in the least. Sometimes the best way to help somebody is to get them on the track of helping themselves.

We have very little information about the OP or her situation, so lacking information, we know only that she has too little income to sponsor a fiance. Until recent posts, we had no idea there were children involved (evidently at least two but actual number unknown) so could only assume the income was under the quite low threshold for a household of two. When left to form impressions based on limited information, people will often come to the wrong conclusions.

We are not going to be able to help her find a co-sponsor but with enough information, we may be able to help her figure out how to qualify. For that to happen, the OP will need to focus on providing facts instead of lashing out at people trying to help.

All that said, we're still talking about two adults here who need to figure out the financial aspects of immigration and marriage. We can help, but the problems and solutions belong to the two of them.

Maybe it's my overactive sense of empathy, but I do feel a lack of sympathy, not necessarily anger, and it seems like a lot of the posts responding are just: "You're s*** out of luck, deal with it" style comments. I'll offer my opinion and a little background and hope it will help.

First, I am actually a Department Director at a facility and we employ over a dozen CNA's; they work incredibly hard and are often short-staffed, and the instability of income comes from the patient census, itself; if the Admissions Department isn't generating enough patient admits, everybody's hours, nurses, CNA's, even other Directors get their hours cut to meet budgetary guidelines - that's a corporate decision of which the actual facility, unless independent, has little to no control over; most facilities are required by corporate to meet and NOT exceed the MINIMUM guidelines for staffing; in my state, the guidelines mandate only one CNA per every 8 patients, and if those patients are all high acuity and require a lot of attention, that's a full day on your feet with no breaks tending to the 70 call lights that come on at any given time. It honestly seems like she's doing the best she can right now and I would never tell someone that money should be a prohibitive factor to two lovers being together; I know that you, specifically, aren't saying that, but it seems like some of the others are at least implying if not directly saying it.

In terms of the problem itself, if you can't find a co-sponsor, I would highly recommend looking at other facilities in your area with higher patient volumes; it's guaranteed hours, and the option to pick up extra shifts and working doubles is almost certain. This might not be something you can manage with your children, but if you haven't already, I would do some research. Another option is to contact the local medical staffing agencies in your area and pick up extra shifts to raise your income; you do not have to leave your current job if it's stable and you wish to stay, but an agency might be able to help place you in additional assignments "moonlighting" at other facilities. Agencies also typically pay higher than the actual facilities do. It may mean working 6-7 days a week, and definitely working 40+, but it should very easily be able to get you over the minimum requirements in time for your I-134 filing. Think about it in terms of the number of shifts you'll need per week to make your minimum requirements.

I am not sure what state you're in, but if you want to send me a PRIVATE MESSAGE, I might be able to help you find more resources if I have time. I definitely empathize with your position, as I was worried I wouldn't make enough either after having been laid off from my last company in a massive downsizing. Please don't panic, just focus and plan. The sooner you can calculate some numbers, the sooner you can find either a new job or an agency position that can help you meet your needs.

If you put in the effort and get a little luck, you can do it, I promise.

I know it sounds trite and meaningless, but hang in there. You'll be in my prayers.

PS: Cham is right, nursing facilities pay very well, and agency placements in nursing facilities (i.e. skilled nursing, ICF, or hospice care) pay ridiculously well, at least in my state.

I guess you would have to pay but they try to guarantee an appointment....how ricockulous!! Might as well just stick with the online registering for $10!

----------------------------------

Q. Does a person have to pay the US$13.00 fee each time they need to call the Call Center?

A. No. The US$13.00 Appointment Scheduling Fee pays for eight minutes of conversation with a live operator. If the applicants use only part of the time, they can still use the remaining time on another occasion. They can use this to reschedule the appointment if necessary. Only if applicants have used up the eight minutes allotted would they need to purchase a new PIN for another US$13.00 payment.

Q. If I do not get an appointment date within the eight minutes that I have paid for, do I have to pay each time I attempt to make an appointment?

A. No. Nearly everyone is able to schedule an appointment in less than eight minutes because CSC's telephone agents are well-trained to assist them. If that is not possible, the applicant would need to buy another Personal Identification Number (PIN). Each PIN allows the applicant eight minutes to talk with a CSC telephone agent. Each PIN costs US$13.00. It is extraordinarily unlikely that it would become necessary for an applicant to have to pay for several PINs.

So, the pins are connected to some sort of timer that tracks the time? And, if you are calling from the US, it's $13 plus however much per minute the call is costing you.....Geez. That could be a really expensive phone call. I hope they dont' have any sort of recorded message either or that could eat your whole 8 minutes pretty fast. (JG just shakes her head at this system and walks away.)

Ehhhh - an nuh bodda wid being put on hold - we know how that go already whistling.gif

Appointments
The Embassy of the United States of America in Kingston announces today (November 13), a package of improvements to the Consular Section's visa operations to better serve the traveling public and facilitate legitimate travel to the U.S. The improvements will go into effect next week as follows:

On Monday, November 17, National Commercial Bank will begin collecting the visa application fee of $131.00 USD at its dozens of branches island wide.

How much will it cost?
The cost for the Call Center option will be $13.00 USD to obtain visa information and schedule an appointment for a nonimmigrant visa interview. The fee covers an eight-minute conversation and would allow an applicant to reschedule the appointment twice, if necessary.
The 24-hour/seven days a week self-service website will cost $10.00 USD to obtain information and secure an on-line non-immigrant visa appointment.
DHL will deliver passports to applicants’ addresses for 750 Jamaican dollars. Only one fee will be charged per family of up to five members

So, to give the condensed version of my full story, which some of you here already know - When I broke my engagement to my ex, and walked away from him, something else decided to take a walk whistling.gif I was tired, run down, and surprise!!! Pregnant. My ex was useless and self centered, and totally not involved in my son's life. When he was 18 months, we were broadsided by a drunk driver and he was killed instantly - He was the light of my life and my joy - Yes, it was hard going through what I went through, but I truly believe that everything happens for a reason - My son was a wake up call to me to make some serious changes in my life, and now he's my angel.

Here are a few pics:

May the Lord's comfort be with you always. I have tears in my eyes as I type this. I cannot imagine going through that. crying.gif He was a beautiful boy.

Well I will be honest I did sit there for awhile hoping that he would change. I didn't want to say to myself down the road if I would have been more patient or given it more time could things have been different. I was feeling guilting regarding the divorce and my daughter. I didn't want her to grow up having her parents divorced. But I did a lot of soul searching and realized it wasn't going to change and that it is time to move on. He wasn't there for me and he wasn't being a father to our daughter either. Then I finally realized the BEST thing I could do for her was to get a divorce. This did not happen overnight and it took me a long time after we even separated to take the ring off. I guess I went through it in stages.

This is the truth - you thought about your daughter and what was best for her. Now you're with someone who loves you and Marley like a man/father should care about his family.

Mi know Shemmy.

I wasn't gonna say anything, but this has been nagging at me all day. Kelly, your duty as a PARENT and MOTHER is to do what is best for your SON first and foremost. This is not to be taken as you and your son vs. Craig, but you must realize that what your son sees will ultimately have an effect on him. Believe what you want but our environments do have an effect on us. Craig has not proven to you or your son that he wants to be a family with you and your son, because if he were truly remorseful about his actions then he would have changed and stepped to the plate a long time ago.

You delayed the petition four times in the past for a reason. Your instincts were telling you to run like hell the other way. Money paid on trips or not - you'd be better off had you not brought him to the states - saving yourself the financial strain of supporting a household of three (Craig's grown behind - who you said is not looking for work, you and your son), and the emotional toll this has taken on both you and your child. My mother was in an abusive relationship and I was about 5 when things ended - and I can tell you clear as day how bad things were living with my stepfather - and I KNOW your son (who is a lot older than I was) is not stupid and he knows that things aren't good with you and Craig. Your son is the one I really feel sorry for because he deserves better. Even if you decide to stay with Craig, your son needs a stable father figure in his life - one who exemplifies what it is to be a man.

Forget him not leaving the apartment - mi woulda pack up mi tings and lef lan time. Mek him suffer an deal wid ie.

And that comment about most of us (yardie relationships) will go through this is fuckery. I feel blessed to have my husband because he has treated me better than ANY man I've ever dated, and it's not because of the green card. Every relationship is different, as are the individuals. I wouldn't tolerate disrespect from him, nor would he from me. And for anyone that wants to counteract me and say I don't know my man - go dead a bush. Mi an mi man par for over 5 years now an we tight like shoeslace. Mi know dat straight.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have to let it out somewhere. My mother-n-law is quickly becoming a pain in my ####. My husband i got married April of 2007 I filed his paperwork in December of 2007 because getting my marriage certificate took longer than I expected. I got approved for th I-129f and th I-130 in December of 2008. I let the I-129f continue you to process because it will put me in better position for getting a closer interview date when the NVC has completed th case of the I-130. I am th agent of contact for my husband so anything they need the write me and tell me about it. okay my mother-n-law just got married and got her GC, she was married over here and got her stuff filed over here. She calls me to ask about how my paperwork was going so I started to tell her where we are in the process, BIG Mistake! she started saying she told me to bring her son up on a I-129f and he would have been here a long time ago and I would not be going through all this process if I had listened to her and she would have been able to come to the wedding........ Stop........ I did not tell her to be in America when we got married, its my husband and my wedding we paid for it, if I wanted to have it in Jamaica I will have it in Jamaica that is where most of our family is. so move forward. MY husband's case is at the NVC, I have paid all the fees and sent all my documents, I sent in the copy of his passport and original birth certificate guess the rules changed on the documents because they are telling me his passport is expired and his birth certificate needs to be computer generated. So now my husband has to gt a passport as well as his birth certificate. His mother tells me that the NVC should not be writing me an asking me for all of this stuff and they do not need a copy of his passport or the original birth certificate until he gos for the interview in Jamaica and that I must be doing something wrong because everyone she ask about it that has filed for someone has never done this. She then did the unthinkable, she said I should send her a copy of ll the paperwork I sent in so she could find wt mistake I made. #######!!!! i then said to her I did not like what she said because she is implying that I don't know what I am doing. She then says to me that i should let someone give her a call that I know of that have filed this way. I didn't even answer I just told her that i would talk to her the next day. This proses is hard and this woman is just driving me crazy! Please someone I need some advice because I feel like I want to just let it all go and forget about this whole process, I love my Husband, however this is all getting to be too much.

Stop taking her phone calls. Harsh as it sounds, you'll be better off not answering the phone. Trying to challenge or argue with her will make things worse. No matter what you say, it sounds like she will counter your comments. Once your man gets approved and an interview date is set maybe then she'll relax a little bit.

Sooooooo I thought, and prayed, and asked peoples opinions.....I even had my taro cards read!!!! August 13th is the tentative date....I told my kids and my mom....My daughter (9) was way way too happy because she is a mini-me. My son (15)...not too happy and I have given him the chance to stay here with granny since he wasn't too crazy about JA from the last time I took him. My mom......well, didn't yall feel the earth move friday evening...cause she wasn't too happy about my news. Anyway....had my first sale of many on saturday....it was real last minute and only told friends and family....had 3 people show sad.gif but got one month of rent put away!!!!Wish me luck yall' now off to get my brakes done......

You have to do what makes you happy. Not everyone will support your decision (my family thought I was crazy) but the biggest advantage that you have is that you're married so you can stay as long as you'd like. Did you look into schools for your kids? Also, if you're not too far from a tourist area have ppl bring small things down that you need. As long as your husband supports this move then what else do you need? All the best to you, and I hope your son comes around.

We just have to keep boosting each other up! star_smile.gif My friends and I are doing a trip to Myrtle Beach the first pat of next month. (wish it was the VI!) It should be nice though, we rented a condo. It'll be good to just get away for a few days though.

Hey Wakey and Mrs Palmer
It's 80 degrees here already but supposed to rain for the rest of the week and be in the LOW 50's - this is why I miss Jamaica - even when it rains the temperature still nice sad.gif

Jonesie--it was 80 degrees here in Durham yesterday--BEAUTIFUL! And it was 78 on Saturday! Now there are tornadoes and severe thunderstorms all over the place! mad.gif I love the spring temps, but the weather around here can get a likkle chaotic!

We just had an earthquake last week. I am used to them but hate them still.

Honey I'll be there for ATI (Aug 3-Aug 14). Jealously is killing me with all of you leaving this week. I have a bad case of spring fever and missing Jamaica.

I bet your hair doesn't look bad but you know what you wanted it to look like so you're not happy with it. Get some cute satin scarves and diva it up.

Morning my Jamaican peeps. Hi KK, sus and Trelawny Parish; how you all doing? Great news from the doctor on my husband's condition. Stan did a CT Scan on his brain and other organs to check the status of the cancer and the doctor told us that his organs looked ok and that the cancer has SIGNIFICANTLY DECREASED. I wanted to laugh, dance, jump, cry, hug my husband, kick the doctor out of the room so that I can scream etc. People, that is great news for us; you see, the doctor had to reduce the dosage of one of Stan's chemo drug as he wasn't tolerating it well and that should delay the process of healing. I can't get into it right now but we know that this is God showing us that he can work regardless of the situation or the circumstances because he doesn't need medicine in order to heal. I believe that he is just saying "hey I am the God of all impossibilities." The doctor told me last year that seeing Stan is in the last stage and on a clinical trial they are really just trying to prolong his life.Well God told me differently and i am choosing to believe God. I got the same report when I was diagnosed in 2004 and here I am today, CANCER FREE. He didnt even think that Stan would have made it last December after many clots traveled to his lungs but miraculously the clots shrink in size just 13 days later when he did a CT Scan. The doctor could not understand it.. but we did yes.gif

Love you all and I am truly praying for everyone. Be blessed.

Congrats yes.gif he will be cancer free!

Good morning
I hope everyone has their computers protected from the Conflicker virus. Seems like this is one of the worst viruses to come around in a long time.

been checking daily lol!!

I had two desktops go within a two month period so I'm making sure my laptop stays protected. I need to get a mini laptop to take to JA to load my pics and videos.

OK yall, I am at working graveyard and on the westcoast so on here by myself....but I know yall early risers (sus) will be on shortly so check out my newest delima. I am missing My Hubby like crazy and am debating moving to JA for the next year. We have an option on a rental home that is located in a perfect spot on the lane of my good friend (the photographer) and her man....They are trying to link up work for us both (Mike would have to move)... There are so many more details to the story but just wondering if anyone has ever considered doing so....or know of anyone who has and how that affects the process aside from the obvious... I have to make the decision this week so my head is spinning with so many options/possibilities/problems/experiences....

If you do decide to stay I recommend saving as much as you can now. Staying there long term is not cheap. I stayed with my husband years ago (he was working full time, and since I didn't have a work permit I could not work) but I cashed out my savings and we managed. Times definitely got hard but we worked through them.
Think about how long you want to stay and consider the area you'll be staying in. You'll only be able to do 6 months at a time (legally) unless you get married. Will you be bringing your children? If you are then check out the schools and this will be another expense (uniforms/books/shoes/etc). I don't regret doing it, because he and I really got to know one another while I was there. If you have any questions feel free to pm me also. Good luck in your decision.

Morning all! I am getting ready to head to a training class all day, so I won't be online cray5ol.gif

Jamerican - I had thought about it - But I know that right now, I can't do it - the things that scare me about living there year round would be
Hurricanes
Medical care
Corruption
Eye for an Eye justice
Not being able to afford to fly home at the drop of a dime if I needed to

Living here, I know that we could fly back to JA in a second if we were needed - we are both close with our families, and discussed this ALOT - and decided that the best option was for us to be in the US.

You also have to factor in your kids, your house here, if at some point you decided to move to the US, you would still need the income requirement to petition for Michael -

Sus when I stayed there I bought a RT ticket and extended it twice laughing.gif at immigration I got a 6 month stamp so it was all good.
