QUOTE (Marlita @ Jun 23 2008, 07:02 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
This is so horrible! My friend is looking for her dad now. He went to Manila last thursday and she has not heard from them. She said he was on his way to a town where the ferry was going. She has no idea if he was on the ferry or not, but she cannot get in contact with him. What should she do? Who can she call to get a list of passengers on that ferry? She woke up with a horrible feeling this morning she said, and when I saw her this morning I had a horrible feeling. then she just disappered from our job. I started to worry and text her and she told me what happened.

Anybody can help me get info for my friend?

Hi 'Marlita', Here is a site that has the passengers list.. http://www.pr-inside...r-s-r658136.htm ....I hope this will help your friend or others. God bless.

PhilippinesWARNING RE: MMR!
QUOTE (chris-lei @ Jun 21 2008, 10:01 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi to all!
To all ladies who got MMR...I would like to warn you that you can't get pregnant within 3 months after getting MMR shot. MMR is a live virus vaccine for Measles, Mumps, Rubella (german measles). Of the 3 viruses, rubella is detrimental for the fetus. It may cause congenital rubella syndrome which includes microcephaly (small brain), heart defects, deafness and eventually mental retardation.

Well, I would just like to warn everybody because I noticed that we are not advised during immunization about the possible side effect of MMR should we get pregant within 3 months time..

God bless us all:)

Question...do all the ladies get the MMR shot? I have not heard of this. Geraldyn is 15weeks pregnant and if all goes good will this affect our medical? Does this shot have to be taken before a visa will be issued? Like I said I don't know anything about this shot blink.gif ...could you please explain more.
Thank you for any help smile.gif

well , I understand, this site is very confusing, at first I thought it was to support people going through tough time's with their visa journey, but I soon found out it was a forum for entertainment and sarcasm. for the bully with the big mouths and bad maner's to have their way with the sometimes shy and quiet folks just looking for common grounds to share their experience while they wait through this very tough time. good.gif and we are married (K3 ) so it's Mrs. or Mr.,... not Ms.

hey ray,
We had our son in Gensan july 07 in the hospital there. The doctor botched(my opinion) the labor induction and had to due a C-section. Anyway, the total out of pocket was somewhere around php50k.They required a 10k deposit to start the C-section even though the baby and mom were in distress. It all worked out ok in the end but many things must be paid up-front. then the balance was due prior to discharge. My wife did have Fil-health,national insurance, so this reduced the total to the 50k range. If all goes well and no surgery is needed then it should be quite a bit less.I work in a hospital here in the U.S. so needless to say the whole thing was a real eye-opener about how good we have it here. Other people that i talked to have confirmed my hypothesis that if they know an American is paying for everything then C-sections seem to happen alittle quicker. I was not able to be with my wife during the induction process so i cant confirm that her/baby were really in danger thus nessesitating an emergency section and the doctor was not comfortable answering my very detailed questions as to what went wrong with the induction. She only said that there was Cephalopelvic disproportion and yes i do know what that is.all in all things worked out and mom and son did great recovering. I hope things work out great for all three of you. Good Luck!!

P.S. they still do things the old way there, medicaly speaking.

Thank you very much, I appreciate you sharing your experience about this. I think I am more nervous now than when we first found out about the baby wacko.gif

professional fees vary between OBGYN's, there is usually a standard PF as based on ethics. However if your OBGYN is a big time physician she can ask for as much as she wants. Your fiance should know by now as to how much her doctor asks for PF during normal delivery or cesarean section. You pay for this before your fiance and baby go home. You have to settle all your accounts before the hospital discharge your family.

For the medical card, not all HMO's cover for the hospital stay that is related to pregnancy. Better verify it with the HMO first.

Midwives are present in some hospital, but the OBGyn will deliver the baby. Some midwives who do private practice attends birth at theirs patient's home.

Thank you very much for your help...that was exactly what I needed to know.
Thank you again. Ray

Hello to everyone smile.gif I am hoping to get some help with my confusion. As you can see we are about to have a baby yes.gif I am a little confused about the medical coverage there in the Philippines...from what I understand the medical only covers the hospital stay and the Doctors fee for delivery is separate?
Is there an average delivery fee...and does it all have to be payed at once before leaving the hospital? Are there Midwives anymore or are they not used?
I am very confused about this and really need some answers helpsmilie.gif

Also...about the medical coverage, I am not sure of the name...but I am sure it is basic.

Thank you for any help good.gif Ray.

Hey Joe, Yes you can add your last name to your daughter's bc. That is exactly what we did and as you know we were not married yet either. Your fiance's last name will become your daughter's middle name on the bc. That's the way they do it in the PI. Don't worry if you want to change her middle name you can do that when you guys get to the States. That's what we are going to do to. Hope everything else is going ok. Have a great 4th buddy. Mike

Not necessarily true all the time. Due to several changes in the provisions of the Family and Civil Codes of the Philippines, the application of the law has been inconsistent. I have a niece who was not allowed to use my brother's surname because she was born out of wedlock, but she was subsequently legitimated after the parents married. Chapter 3, Article 176 of Family Code of the Philippines is clear on this:
http://www.chanroble...eorderno209.htm

Chapter 3. Illegitimate Children

Art. 176. Illegitimate children shall use the surname and shall be under the parental authority of their mother, and shall be entitled to support in conformity with this Code. The legitime of each illegitimate child shall consist of one-half of the legitime of a legitimate child. Except for this modification, all other provisions in the Civil Code governing successional rights shall remain in force. (287a) ?

To the OP, since your child will be illegitimate at time of birth, be prepared to be challenged if you encounter a Civil Registrar who is up-to-date with the current law.

'jab1976' I just came back from doing just that last week...and of course there to see my fiancee and our daughter. If you are going to be there for the birth it should be no problem, because it was 6 months after Gabrielle was born and we had no problem giving her my last name on the birth certificate. I am not saying that 'Pinay Wife' is not correct because you will not know until you get there. But just letting you know it can be done because I just did it! yes.gif

Good luck with everything good.gif ,Ray

PhilippinesGLOBE or SMART for ROAMING?
QUOTE (Ray and Geraldyn @ Jun 13 2008, 01:17 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
HI, we use SMART and it works real good for us. While I was still in the Philippines I bought a phone with a international roaming sim chip, I can only text Geraldyn from the US because it is only a texting sim, but it only cost's 1php per text. I also text from my pc for free through yahoo messenger, if I call her it does not cost her anything using yahoo it just costs me. Either way, texting with the phone or pc still costs her to text me back. I can load her phone in the Philippines or my phone with the sim from smart that I bought in the Philippines that I now have here. All you have to do is go to [url="http://www.aryty.com"] You can load SMART or GLOBE in a few minutes on your pc...just set up an account and use your credit card. I think $11.09 you can send a 460php load, there are different size loads to choose from the one I mentioned is the biggest for SMART. It is the best way we have found.
Even the other day we lost power here and I could not get on the pc to load my phone...I just called Geraldyn with my phone from my US provider and she shared a load from here phone to my smart phone I have here and we text no problem. You can load any SMART or GLOBE phone from this web site....all you need is the phone number smile.gif.
Hope this is some help to you or anyone good.gif

I hope you will see it soon, our's was sent in May-14th express delivery, delivered 11:04am on May-15th signed for by V SEMEGI. and the notice date on the NOA-1 is May-16th...but I just received it in the mail today May-22nd so you should see it soon. If it helps look on the back of your check if you have online banking, for your receipt number...it should start with 3 capital letters...like WAC or something similar...the capital letters will be followed by numbers...cap's and numbers will be 13 characters total...(EXAMPLE) WACxxxxxxxxxx...then go to the USCIS web site and enter your Receipt number and follow the instructions. This way you will see if you are in the system,I did this 2 days ago and knew we were in. Also you can sign up for automatic e-mail updates as they process your case. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports2 Questions about Igors list ?
QUOTE (Nich-Nick @ Jun 11 2008, 11:48 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Igor's list depends on what YOU and everybody else puts in their timeline. So if you joined and started a timeline, then never went back to it because you got interested in maybe a different website , you're abandoned timeline would look like you filed a long time ago and never got a NOA2. So you have to realize that it's just a collection of individual timelines, kept well by some and kept poorly by others. So it's not scientific data.

Your name will go farther down the list at times, but not because they found somebody else. It's because new people found VJ and just signed up. So their name goes in the order of filing, not when they created a timeline. Also the people who create a timeline here are just a very tiny percentage of all the people who have applied for a visa. So if you're #100, don't think there are only 100 petitions ahead of you in the whole service center. There could be 2000 ahead of you.

The front of Igor's list is probably cluttered with people who have abandoned updating their timelines or have something not normal going on. I jumped from #70 to approved. Some of the people have their name in there twice. (Like me). I messed up my timeline and somehow ended up with two. An admin fixed it, but the second one stayed in Igor's list for a really long time. After I had NOA2, my messed up timeline was still in the waiting list taking up a slot. So if you took out those kind of things, you might be farther up the list.

Igor's is a fun thing to watch, but you have to understand that it's not a perfect list because because it just collects from anybody who happens in and sometimes they don't do their timelines perfectly.

I'm not sure what you mean by the blue names and red names. I think you mean it changes color when you have visited the link. That would just be something to do with your computer, not anything Igor does. It depends on if you reboot or clear internet clutter or things like that on your personal machine.

The black names: I read an explanation of that. People can do a timeline separate from joining Visa Journey and creating a user name for the forums. The people who are black with no link do not have a profile on VJ, so there is no link to click on. It doesn't mean they were denied or forgotten, they just didn't want to make a profile page.

Do the results from using this function not work for you?
http://www.visajourn...erlist.php?cfl=

Oh yeah, I use it all the time. Love it! But it's several clicks on the drop downs, entering dates, choosing "all." It gives great data, but the other just tells me quickest the name of who got approved last. And when you've exchanged idle chit-chat with people who filed around your time, you know their names and just get a quick picture of who's the latest since they tend to get approved in a somewhat orderly fashion by dates. Or maybe that's an occasionally orderly fashion by dates. LOL

I use both Igor and the Timeline Search for different purposes. I guess one is like the headline news and the other is the in-depth news.

Thank you 'Nich-Nick' for explanation about Igor's list...I know there are many more petitions out there than just the one's on VJ, but as you said it is nice to come home and in just a couple of click's you can see new approvals that may have not been there the night before. Also it is nice to see your name move up the list even if it is slowly moving up...kind of like a little reassurance things are moving along whistling.gif.
I really appreciate the people and forums on VJ, there is allot of good advice and help out there all you have to do is ask...even if it is a simple question!
Thanks again good.gif
