K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNebraska does not list the I-129F in its processing times
That's what I was afraid of. I hear bad things about California's service center. Has it improved?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNebraska does not list the I-129F in its processing times
https://egov.immigra...Center=Nebraska

The USCIS in Nebraska does not list the I-129F in its processing times list. Does anyone know why?
I'm assuming this is a silly question because I didn't find an answer in 'search'.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 or K3?
I've read many times that K-1 is quicker and easier but have no first-hand experience. In Thailand there is a Buddhist ceremony that couples can do for the family, and it's not necessary to register the marriage at the local Amphur officially.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresVisiting each other during K-1 process (Canada-USA)
Hi there neighbor!
My buddy is telling me the same thing, no Thailand for 2 years for me and no visiting home for my fiance. But we'll be so happy just to be together that the 2 years (or however long) will fly by.

I flew her to see her Mom and likely will again before she comes to live here. I bet there is an 'illness' exception.

Sounds like you're lucky;
1) You know each other well and want to marry. You don't have to wait to see how you are together.
2) You are here and know what to do to save time and mailing for when you go there.

March is a month and a half away. Almost enough time to get everything together to file and even interview. Except for the things that need to be recently done before the interview ie; passport style pics, medical & police report.

I read that Nebraska send their area's I-129F's to CSC. If so, maybe that is adding more and more time.

For job history, Unemployment Insurance had a pretty long list for my history, as I recall. But now things have surely changed and I probably couldn't even talk to a human. But a jobs history could jog memories of housing/cities.
Tax returns and IRS is another idea. Do you have your old W2's?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK-1 129F Form- Expried 12/31/06??

Thanks for this message!!! I didnt notice that date! I just checked, and they added a yes/no box to part C. Q. 2 that says have you ever been convicted for any of the following crimes...

I'm printing off the new one and sending that. The version says 11/24/06 and no versions before that.

Oh, and I downloaded the form at 10:30 PM and it expires 1/31/2010

I don't have a yes/no box. My form has 3 single boxes in front of the crime(s) and no words, "yes" "no". It says, "expires 12/31/06 on the top left corner. Are we still talking about the K-1 I129F? Where is the 1/31/2010 expiry form? I'm blind sometimes...

Now posted on the USCIS site

http://www.uscis.gov...form/I-129F.pdf

This VJ "Downloads" worked after I updated Adobe to version 7.0.9

http://www.visajourn...mp;page=k1forms

This is from the "example forms" download here at VJ ...it's the OLD form;

The USCIS site showed the old one to me as well before updating Adobe...

Well the photos are proof of having met over 2 years ago. But I wonder is that enough. We've got tons of photos of us away together and everything plenty. I hope 2-3 that are over the 2 year mark are enough. I can prove we travelled away together at the same time but that was only a year and half ago.

Sorry if my questions seem silly. Just want to keep myself right!!!

They want pics LESS THAN 2 years old. They want to know that you met WITHIN the last 2 years. Hope that helps. :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNEW FORM INFO for I-129F

Premature publishing.

And these are the people we're trusting with our immigration journies...

One word: IMBRA  :hehe:

Have they gone too overboard -or what? Maybe it will settle down to normalcy in time. But for now we all have to struggle too much.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNEW FORM INFO for I-129F

So I emailed USCIS about the I-129F craziness. New version, old version, which one to use?

So this was their response:

The newer version was prematurely published. We expect it to be officially available this week. You may use the older version at least through mid-February.

Whew:)

That's good news!
Has anybody found a link to an official statement along these lines?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFiling K1 Question
There's a section on the I-129F that asks about that and you may want to review. I do know that she must not overstay or make a mistake in her visiting/work/study procedures.

You might want to give more details, like which country we're talking about. Members familiar with the country could help more as to wait time, etc.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFiled I-129F today!

I sent my I-129F today and used the old form. I read here that the old I-129F was to be used until February 18, 2007.
Did that change?
Will this confusion NEVER end?

Where did you get that old form from?

I hired a lawyer in Thailand because my fiance was struggling and it made it easier for me too, as a single dad.
He had her fill it out and sent it to me. He made a small error/typo and I insisted he correct it and it came back just after the new I-129F was finally posted.

I saw the whole 'new form' then 'old form' posting confusion and knew we had until Feb. 18, 2007 from the USCIS posted accepted date for the old form.

Thanks for the reassurance folks, it really really helps.

Your timeline looks very much like ours. Those couple of touches after the approval may be sending to NVC.

There's no guarantee but it's worth a try to call NVC this Monday to check. Call 603-334-0700 during the morning EST and talk to a person. The automated response system isn't reliable and even if you ask by email, you will not be told the date the petition was shipped to the US Consulate.

Enjoy the approval and good luck for the rest of the journey.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCSC APPLICANTS STOP GETTING EXCITED WHEN YOU GET NOA2s
Sorry, but have to reply to this one... Yes, we know there are many steps to this process! NOA2 is the first of many hurdles to overcome. We're dealing with people's hearts here. You do realize that?

The disgusting thing is that if some of us had more time in the country of our fiance's we could go DCF and eliminate 5 months of processing time. If I could have extended in Korea, I would be with my fiance now and forever. But, since I have to go through the K1 process we're both subjected to months of scrutiny that isn't applied to illegal immigrants.

Please don't downplay matters of the heart! This forum should be about supporting!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresUS citizen's travel to foreign fiance's country
I travelled to stay with my fiance during the process. No problems with that, as noted by others. The only thing I'd add is to bring every piece of paper you can think of. Make sure you have someone checking your mail regularly and can get it to you. I was TDY with the military when I got an RFE. It was very challenging to collect needed information to respond when I wasn't at home. Fortunately had the forethought to have someone checking my mail who could scan and e-mail docs.

Just plan ahead an you should be fine.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow long did k-1 take you?

That's something we might have issues with. Showing relationship over the last 2 years. We both have passport stamps, which are the best in my assumption. Aside from that, very few pictures, some not with both of us. Only credit card stuff I can show is foreign bank transaction fees. Same for him. Phone bills, we use phone cards, but never really thought to keep them, so they've all been thrown away. We hardly email each other because we normally talk online, but don't save conversations? Do you think passport stuff and pics should be sufficient? I have a few letters and cards etc. I know I won't need most of the information until later on. Pics and passport stuff is fine for now, but i'm worried about the interview later on.

As far as pictures, most of them I have on the computer. Would they get mad about a black and white laser jet printer pic? I don't have a color printer.

You can save your pictures to a disk and get them printed at WalMart or many drug stores. Letters from people who can verify you were together might substitute for areas you lack documentary proof of having been together.

Good luck on your journey!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresThe New CSC/NSC/TSC timelines are posted

I know if I was a petitioner from March, April, May or June I'd be really upset.

I'm just curious how many of those from those dates are really still waiting, and how many are just 'inactive' on VJ. If I was proficient in HTML code, I'd at least add the "Last Active" date (hint hint :P)

Bill

After I get the list I go through each and every one of the people that don't have their NOA2 yet. If they haven't been online at VJ in the last 6 weeks I don't include them on the list. Since I start from scratch every week if someone that was inactive comes back then they are on the next weeks list. It takes me about 3 hours to do the list and I am very careful to make it as accurate as I can.

It is obviously a lot of work Gary, and greatly appreciated!

I checked out your personal site as well, and it was great... Frankly with everything going on in my life, here at home and via the visa process, I got a bit misty... K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHELP!!! Moving but I dont know what to do!
Depending on how quickly you plan to move, you may want to file there if it puts your application into the Vermont service center. They seem to be much more efficient than California, and if you are moving fairly soon, could actually save you some wait time.

Make sure you are filing the most up to date I-129F form, with questions on criminal background and if an international marriage broker was used and you will have no problem with IMBRA.

Good luck on your journey!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCan AnyOne Help?
The legal fiance immigration system does seem to run counter to the self evident truths our government is founded upon... Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. I can understand security checks, especially in this day and age, but that does not seem to be the reason for horrendous delays and unfairness in processing, so no excuse there.

I would guess that kitkat is dead on correct, your approval is coming shortly. Very sorry about how long it has taken, and it would be nice if CSC did a much better job explaining and communicating actual case status during the process. Not knowing is probably just as bad as the actual wait.

In our case, there was a very minor problem with our NOA1 address line, I called in to correct it, and our case has not shown that touch in over a month... Starting to worry a bit about that, the guy I talked to seemed pretty confused and instead of taking note to add th after the 7 in my street address we seemed to run through all of my personal data and some of my fiances, verbally, so many chances for our case to be mangled and I have no idea if that has occurred...

Hang in there though, you have been put through hell, but there is light at the end of the tunnel.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCan AnyOne Help?
I obviously have not waited anywhere near as long as you two have, but I really do understand how you are feeling. It actually does seem to be getting better at CSC and many who are now receiving approvals are not getting any touches at all. Hang on a bit longer and you will likely be rewarded. Older cases are being cleared out and fresher cases being approved with what for CSC passes for lightening speed!

I think it would be a huge mistake for you to go to her country and get married at this point unless you plan to live out your lives there. You would need to trash your K-1 application and file for K-3 and those take even longer to get approved. If you can wait out the approval process while staying with her, that would probably make the wait more tolerable, and go for it if you can!

Definately sucks that there appears to be no rhyme or reason for the way in which cases are processed but you have waited so long it would be a shame to give up now.
