Asia: East and PacificI'm missing my girl in Vietnam so much

Do you people have the same problem ? I can not concerntrate on work or sleep tight at night. I just want to be with my girl ASAP , eventhou I just left Vietnam last week .....

Yes, it's soooo hard. We spend hours on the phone everyday and it helps. But we need to be together, really. I'm risking my job to visit her again. And yes, it's worth it.

Asia: East and PacificThailand - English Translation

Ding,

I am curious why she would have either of those translated - neither is needed for any purpose in the USA that I can think of offhand.

Yodrak

Lek says the translation shops by the Embassy, Wireless Road/Thanon Witayu, charge 200B a page. She is planning on translating her housebook and checking .....

.....

Two reasons, neither mandated.
1) We visited the Wat where her dad and sister are interred and I am interested in her family history.
2) In case there's a problem at the BKK embassy I want to know what she has on-hand that she presents to the CO.

Yes, have the name spelled exactly the same as Pu's passport - good tip!

Will you be able to go see her?

Thanks Yodrak -and everyone.
We had a great engagement ceremony ...after NOK Air screwed us out of our seats and made us 6 hours late!
NOK Air no-care.

I brought US$ and hit the exchange booth. It was easy and I did what you did with the remainder Yodrak. I used all Baht and it seemd 9 is a lucky number. That's good because the first lucky number was a millionB!
 :help:
I didn't need to use my ATM card all the time this trip and had cash for 2 weeks back at home.

There were 100 guests and they waited a long time, 30+ waited until Thai Air got us there. The ceremony was a LOT more than I was told. I expected to see Glen Levit and Absolut empties piled to the rafters the next morning. :D

Thanks Matt, I use $100's too for spending. And carfry Am Exp TC's for back-up. The deal is the amount is more this time, thousands, and I will have to deposit it for security after the ceremony.
I will likely have to bring in $100's, exchange them to Baht, and then exchange them back to US$ again.

But I've never deposited into a Thai bank for transfer into my bank, though. It's not a big enough amount for SWIFT, I don't think. Maybe I'll give some to Lek's mom and leave the rest for Lek who can bring back the rest.
The US probably is more concerned about money going in & out these days (for obvious reasons) than Thailand.

Your lucky.

In some cases the Dowrey is kept if they are a poor family.

Yes, I am sooooo lucky! I just can't get over it.
My secret plan includes leaving behind more Bhat than they think. Shhhhh
I'd rather send her mom money every month than leave a big lump sum behind for everyone to swoop down on.
Lek and I talked it out and her mom is just very happy for Lek. Doesn't expect a cent/satang.

That my think! (But not too mut)

Not offended at all, no worries.
Washington Mutual has a no-fee free checking account. You get the Gold Card and there are no international ATM fees, just from the machine's operator/bank. The double exchange rate -from USD to TB and back to USD into my bank- is what trips me up. I know guys doing this ceremony in Thailand go through this all the time. I bet the fees are just a cost that is accepted.

We want to have a Buddhist ceremony at Lek's home up-country. It's custom to give a show of money to the family. What's the best way to get a few thousand$ US into Thai Baht and back to US dollars? I want to put it right back into my bank when we return to Bangkok but want to avoid transaction fees and transfer fees, as much as possible.

Asia: East and PacificHow did you meet your love?

My father's best friend was marrying my wife's aunt. Though, the aunt died in a car accident before they hitched. My father went to Viet Nam to visit his old war sites 'n things, his best friend asked him if he'd mind swinging by his aunt's family's home to deliver some money and goods to them out of grievance, he did, saw my now wife, got her email address, six months later my father was going back again, invited me, I then started writing her for a friend to show me around the city. We feel that it was fate brought on by her aunt, for if her aunt never died, we'd never have met.

Wow, how do you spell 'serendipity' I guess?

I met mine through a buddy who married Lek's good friend. I had been to Thailand several times and never looked for a wife, just had fun with my boy, and/or my step-daughter and even my (now) ex.

Asia: East and PacificYay! I got the NOA2!!!

My I-129F was aproved almost 3 weks ahead of the projected time, and no RFE!!!

So I've been gathering I-134 docs and still feel unorganized. I wonder how much they need pension evidence. My union has an administrator and I want to know if there's a specific form I should ask them for?

I am also retired and was wondering the same thing so I spoke with a friend who is an immigration lawyer. He said to show your letter of retirement from your company, as well as your monthly payment receipts. In addition, your bank statements will also show your monthly desposits. I will be sending my visa paperwork from thailand on May 24. Hope we can stay in touch. Good luck!

Actually, I found just too much ongoing deception and cancelled the engagement 2 days prior to my post. I was bored and trying to keep busy working on it, business as usual. Also trying to keep hope alive - I decided to wait a week and think it over. I decided I couldn't live with ongoing problem like that. So I'm cancelling our petition now. I wont be much help really but would gladly stay in touch as I wind out.

Wow! Thanks everyone for all the kind wishes. What a great community here. What a tough thing we do, learning patience.

I would tend to downplay the parental friendship, myself, and stop with the info already provided. You may want to approach it as "We did NOT use an internet dating service. We found each other through our family and NOT a dating service".
I don't know, but if you want to reduce suspicion raised about parental favors being done, that's one suggestion.

Asia: East and PacificWhat's going in Saigon Now?

I INVESTIGATED AND SHE DID NOT BANG ANY DUDE BESIDE ME . SHE TOLD ME THAT SHE LOVES ME AND WOULD NEVER BANG ANY DUDE WHEN SHES IN A RELATIONSHIP WITH ME.

But how can you know for sure? How well do you really know her? Do you think she would tell you if she did bang another dude?

yeah, I INVESTIGATED via a software I wrote couple days ago. With the software, you can just ask her plug one end of the network cable to her a.z.z, the other end to the route or DSL modem. then here in America you can start up the software and it will automatically send out the electricity signals to her azz and run through her whole body. If it detects any MALE viruses (like men sweat, spem, hair etc)it will then send back the things that it has detected and display in a GUI(graphic user interface) window. so then you can easily analyze the data and find out exactly what has happened and with whom. Last time I checked there were only couple of dog hairs in her lung. I asked what happened and she told me the air is so poluted in Saigon now aday .

Now I'm thinking about installing a cicro chip (made in USA by IBM) on her body, which will send out a signal (strong electric current) to her nervous system that will turn off her sex drive area on her brain whenever she's feeling horny. so what the chip basically does is to turn off her Ti`nh Du.c SYSTEM . oh, it also sends a log file to your mailbox or to your server of all the events . so that way you know when your girl was ham muon and stuff like that .

Anyway, if you guys need the software or the micro chip to check on your fiancee, girlfriend, wife, etc ..please shoot me an email. I will give you a copy for free of charge .

Thank you and have a nice day,
Thai Pham .

I wouldn't trust that cicro chip. Go with the electro shock collar for sure. They look sporty too!

Thailand loses certain internet services/providers sometimes. I figure someone kinks the hose. I have no idea about VN, sorry. But my phone card calls cut off all the time. I usually have a couple different ones due to that.

Good to read about your good luck, and sounds like Brian Wright is doing good by you.
I'm not sure if you're looking for a BKK travel agent or one in the states.

For Thailand travel, NOK Air is a rip off. Many have been burned, me included. Pay more for Thai Air and get a better value in the end.
BKK has many agents but there are ticketing search engines for best fares.
Kayak.com is one, as I recall.

In the states, I usually use the Sunday travel section to find the bucket shop deals. I have a good agent now that handles lots of details and the $40 extra is a value to me.

Asia: East and PacificHonesty, Asia style!
So the collective and compounding wisdom here is pretty cool. I really apreciate this place.

For my part, I forgive better than in my youth and accept much better.
For her part, well that's her part. We'll see if she continues to "just say out" and "say for true". I think she'll be fine, much more truthful. My gut tells me it's okay now. But after 30+ years a person's character is set. Only a change of psyche from a lot of pain, spiritual growth, or something - gets us humans to make a change in our characters.
She's a strong, independent woman and I like that.

Western women often like to have their needs anticipated too. But I think it's an expectation and a hidden need to have you show that you understand their needs, and therefore -them.
With Thai women, maybe other Asian women, I think it has more to do with conflict avoidance, politeness, and face-saving. It must be almost innate to lie because there must be pretty heavy social pressure to be seen as "good".

just my .02
dingMaleThailand2007-07-07 02:05:00
Asia: East and PacificHonesty, Asia style!
I found that Lek was lying to me. Nothing big and bad, just a LOT of lying. It didn't stop even after we talked it out many times.
So after a couple months I told her it was over. She was crushed, me too. And so was my little boy who loved her dearly and looked to her as his new mom. I just couldn't bring all this deception into our lives so after another lie, I sent the request to cancel to NVC.

That's it folks. No turning back -and I tried everything once she came clean and overcame the lying.

So after ending it and letting go, I talked to a friends who lived there about it. I don't like to impose my personal problems on friends, but wish I would have talked to them first.

They both said that the impulse to avoid conflict and not lose face will cause Thais to lie. They both said that she could have understood that honesty is important, and even felt that she didn't lie. I guess it was a lifelong personal/societal pattern for her. Very hard for her to break it I guess. And I'm her first deep love, committed relationship. She just worked a cashier job 6 days a week to help her mom.

So pain is the touchstone of growth yet again. She was very sad to have hurt me and lost our love. She stopped lying and came clean. The lies seemed sooo silly and needless to me. But maybe it's an Asian thing I just can't fully understand.

Anyone else run into this?

second NIV inquiry BKK2007#######

Also, sorry to hear that Bumrungrad seems to be doing the American HMO thing. I've been going there since the early 90's and have only had great experiences for my family and me. But I beleive ya, ####### and also things are westernizing there more and more. I mean, A McDonalds in the lobby of Bumrungrad???

Keep us posted, you've been seperated too long. Sounds like a true hardship. Bumrungrad is sooooo much faster than hospitals in Seattle I can't understand the delay. And a scope sounds way too invasive when there are all sorts of non-invasive diagnostics there. Strange.

Asia: East and PacificMy Vo's Interview Review

I don't normally spend time in the Asia regional forums but your thread titles caught my eye.

Wouldn't it be much more appropriate to say that her visa was temporarily denied due to your inability to prove financial support for three people rather than SHE FAILED. She didn't fail. People don't FAIL interviews. Either they are approved or denied. It appears she was temporarily denied until they receive your financial support info.

Thank you kitkat1. I've avoided replying to these threads but it's hard not to respond sometimes. I hope the OP understands that the VJ community would like to help him become more compassionate and understanding for the good of both he and the woman who would marry him.

Very few countries have their own sub-forums - those countries with the most immigration activity. Thailand is way down the list.

For the kinds of things that you are interested in the Thai Falang Board on delphiforums is excellent.
