K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFiled I-129F today!

Not sure what to say...on the new form, it says that if the old is received, they'll return it to you with the check uncashed.

Let's hope they don't happen to notice, or they'll cut you a break since it was only released in the last few days of Jan.

Does the posting of the new form mean that the USCIS posting that the 2-18-07 date is now void?

The USCIS themselves said the old I-129F could be used until 2-18-07.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFiled I-129F today!
Here's the link I am going by from USCIS;

http://www.uscis.gov...00045f3d6a1RCRD

"I-129F $170.00
Service Center
11/24/06. Prior edition dated 05/23/06 will be acceptable until 02/18/07."

I should feel okay about it but I must like to worry!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFiled I-129F today!
I sent my I-129F today and used the old form. I read here that the old I-129F was to be used until February 18, 2007.
Did that change?
Will this confusion NEVER end?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresProof-read help required please
I referenced copies of evidence in my letter and then wrote; *see included receipt for XXXXX
The assertions of my letter are supported that way with copies of dual signed hotel registrations, limo receipt, airport tax, etc.

I have printed pages of emails for later evidence of continuing contact. You may have some AOL record you can print out. This link would support that as true and correct:

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat are I-129F & G-325A copies used for, exactly?
Feeling so smart and so dumb -at once!

That last yes is typical redundancy I guess. But this process doesn't have to make efficient sense to me. I just want to follow the rules and get our little family united finally.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat are I-129F & G-325A copies used for, exactly?
I see that we need the I-129F and G-325A copies, but I'm not clear on what they're used for.

Is it for our future reference, and in case USCIS loses it?

Or does the embassy interviewer ask to see the exact copy that NVC sends the embassy?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresnotarized letter of intent???plz help
It doesn't need to be notarized. Just signed original.

Short is OK from what I read but should state you are free to marry and intend to do so within 90 days of US entry.

See example forms for a template letter.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFriend INSISTS I need to show support for fiance @ I-129F
Wow, everybody's an expert. I tried to tell my friend that I didn't think I needed to show support for my fiance at the I-129F stage. And that they just want to be sure she wont be a ward of the state ...but at the interview stage. I told him about the I-134 (notarized) that files at that time. I told him that it's not in the I-129F instructions.

and BOOM!
He got honked off a bit. I think he wanted to be the expert since he has done this once. But it just made me appreciate the collective wisdom here even more. One person's experience is valid, but the majority of experiences are even more so.

Did I miss something? Does he have a valid point there?

I think others will support me on this the passport entry/exit stamps are vital. Still include everything you have, mail, pics, boarding passes and itinerary if you have it. Also, any receipts from the ATM, purchases etc.

Color copies of the picture/info pages and all visa stamp pages. (I gave the back page too to show there is no visa rejection stamp)

Good luck!

You can write, very neatly, in black ink. Thai addresses are very long sometimes and I couldn't fit it in any way I tried. I had to get professional help! Really! Made it easier on me and much less struggle for her.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresONE WAY OR ROUND TRIP TICKET

Some countries have a tourist visa exemption agreement. Thailand has 'no-visa required' agreements with about 40 different counties and I don't need a visa to travel there, just a return (round trip) ticket and funds to live on for my stay there. The latter 2 aren't generally checked on at immigration but they can turn you back.

True, to a degree. But you are not travelling on Visa Waiver, you have a specific visa. You should not be dinged for insufficient ties to a country, when the ultimate intention, be K1 technically a "non immigrant visa" is immigration (hence the 'adjustment of status' upon marriage).

I think my confusion is that, after checking the OP's timeline, the I-129F was merely sent & received. With no visa I figure it to be a tourist visit in hard terms, despite hoped for results from the I-129F.

Thais have a very tough time visiting America despite the agreement. They need to show long term, considerable funds and/or property ownership, advanced degree, etc - or they won't get a visa to visit. There are likely exceptions, such as strong family ties like a child left back in Thailand. They also need round trip return tickets.

Other countries vary of course. But for me, I'd buy the return ticket if you can't find out for certain, you don't want that little rejection stamp in the back and having to check the box admitting you were denied entry to the USA.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFull addresses required for g-325a?
Specifically, he writes:
My practice is to ensure that the G-325A is accuarate. I am not as concerned that it be complete. For example, on the employment history, I do NOT put in the employer's street address -- I just put the city, eg. "Toyota, Fremont, CA".
Can anyone confirm that? Or comment as to whether they left out the full address and had their application processed just fine. I was going to print it out and stick labels on the document that have a small font so it will fit, re-scan that, print it, and sign it again so it looks all nice and neat. If it's not necessary that will be even better.
That's what mine is like. We'll see. I guess you could write very neatly in black ink otherwise.

hi all, any info would be great...just curious how i will know of noa1/2's, "touches", hopefully no rfe's...will they e-mail me?

Snail mail is the standard ... e-mail only if you sign up for e-mail notification but you must have your case number

https://egov.immigra...ectusertype.jsp

thx fwaguy...forgive of of my ignorance...but, what is snail mail?

Regular USPS mail.....

fwaguy, I see by your timeline that you knew when your case was transferred to CSC from NSC. Were you able to get your number from your cashed check that quickly? I'm registered online, but need my # of course. Wondering how you did it...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F questions

very interesting...
Can anyone confirm this or give more details? It sounds very very important.

thanks!

Home-country physical presence requirement means the requirement that an exchange visitor who is within the purview of section 212(e) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (substantially quoted in Sec. 514.44) must reside and be physically present in the country of nationality or last legal permanent residence for an aggregate of at least two years following departure from the United States before the exchange visitor is eligible to apply for an immigrant visa or permanent residence...

Sometimes attached to a J visa I think...

Whoa! That could be pretty darn sad for some in that situation. I wonder what the reasoning is behind that rule?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow useful is the 'Proof of Ongoing Relationship'?

I use Skype to call my fiance. We spent 25$ on 2 sets of headphones and call each others computers. Its free and we get a record of our calls. I'm submitting lots of stuff just to be on the safe side. I made Paul keep all our tickets and letters etc! We're submitting in a few weeks, good luck on yours!

Maybe it was because I called a cell phone and not a high speed internet computer. Not many average working Thais have computers or high speed internet. But even the land line I called was hard to hear and there was a delay that was awkward.

I've used my cell to call my phonecard connection #, and I'll write a postcard or two. I printed out our emails and emails from the phone card. That should prove our continuing relationship.

I'm pretty sure our in-person meeting is well documented. I have copies where both of us signed hotel registrations and a pic in front of one of those hotels' sign. Passport stamps. Hard copies of air tix and travel agency itinerary. ATM withdrawal slips from my account. etc...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow useful is the 'Proof of Ongoing Relationship'?

Rida and I use phone cards, but more often we call each other through yahoo messenger. You can archive the calls you make. The call log tells you who the incoming calls are from, who your outgoing calls are to, the date of the call, the time the call was made and the duration fo the call. Best of all, no charge. You will need YM and a headset though. We talk for hours on end that way and we have a record to give during the interview. Hope this helps.

Maybe YM is next for me, after my 3.9 cents a minute card that is -clear as a bell. It seems important to hear well when deciphering a foreign accent and applying it to bureaucrat speak. I heard stress in her voice as we tried to work on the DS-230 Part 1 Biographic Data and letters of intent to marry/how we met.

I tried Skype and may again if I can find out how their records can be downloaded & printed. I just couldn't hear well. I tried a headset, a usb phone, Skype-in, Skype-out. Nothing sounded very clear. Never got customer support either, especially when trying to quit/stop the service charges.

[edit to add]
I wonder if sending money via Western Union would provide a solid record of an ongoing relationship, and evidence of support later too...
Other ways are cheaper, but this would buy a convenient record wouldn't it? (I never have used it)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow useful is the 'Proof of Ongoing Relationship'?

If you use a cell phone to call your phone card access number you've a call record there and can simply explain that you only use the calling card to call him/her.

Additionally www.cloncom.com has a few calling cards that do have calling records. For example Sonico Blue http://www.cloncom.c...ectionid_to=453

Thanks Thee Rak, I'll use my cell sometimes -DOH! I didn't think of that. I use Speedy Pin XTC55-DL Xtra Clean Internation to Thailand. They're cheap but without records. Dynasky is 10-20 cents, ouch!

Starting my I-129F and wondering how useful the 'Proof of Ongoing Relationship' is?

I talk to her daily, but the phone cards only show a vague charge name on my credit card. Will there be a RFE that we are still involved with each other.

Should I mail a postcard just for evidence? Copy emails?

-thanks!

I got 4 certified copies from the county admin. office. They were about $18 each, but I wanted no questions. The trip there was the expensive part so I just got them. I'll give one to my fiance for her interview, and have one for future use, and a backup if USCIS loses one.
